Can you imagine a world where vampires reign over the human race? A place where humans are living in poverty and barely surviving. One of the most controversial ways to earn a living is by becoming a blood escort for the vampire race. This ‘occupation’ is like a slap in the face to the human race. Having one of their own act as the lifeline to the vampires that are determined to reign over all of humanity.

With no job prospects in site, Reyna Carpenter knows that money is scarce for her family. No one wants to hire someone without a college education, and there are no funds to pay for Reyna to attend any such college. Feeling as though she can bring much needed income to the apartment she shares with her brothers, Reyna signs up to be a blood escort. During her induction, Reyna is pulled from the rest of the new hires and offered a special incentive. To become a donor for one of the most elite vampires…..Beckham Anderson.

Trepidation takes hold of Reyna’s thoughts, but she is determined to see this through until the end. A focus to help her brothers receive the life that they deserve. What Reyna quickly learns is nothing is as it seems. Like with Beckham is confusing and full of mystery. A combination that excites, frightens and sends thoughts swirling for Reyna. As Reyna quickly learns, appearances can be deceiving and life will never be as it was.

What an intriguing and complicated world KA Linde has created with Blood Type. A place where vampires reign supreme, and the human race is embroiled in an impending rebellion. There is mystery and danger lurking around the corner, and Beck and Reyna will find themselves smack dab in the center of it all.

The beginning of this book was definitely engrossing, and pulled me into this tale of a vampire dominant world. A place where the dynamics of society are the complete opposite of the world as we know it. Then the second half of the book hit me with a depressing let down. A confusing relationship that didn’t hold the addiction, tension or captivation that one experienced during the buildup of the plot. Reyna and Beckham did not hold the heat or romance that one would have expected based on the path that the author had led the characters towards. The plot didn’t seem as smooth and had a ‘choppy’ direction that really took away from the appeal of the story.

Then you will discover an ending that leaves you with more questions than answers. A realistic expectation given how the book ‘ended’. While most will find this paranormal romance appealing, I was left with a plot predictability that often times left me with the desire to rush through the ‘fluff’. The last paragraph pulled me back into the story though. Leaving me hoping that Beckham and Reyna have a bit of redemption of the romantic kind. So – I have my fingers crossed that all will pan out with the release of the next book.

If you're like me (and God bless you if you are because you need all the blessings you can get), you swore off vampire paranormal romances a while ago. Well, it's time to jump back on that train, dear readers, because KA Linde has a fantastic series brewing featuring vampires.

There is a new world out there, and it is ruled by the vamps. Not Edward-esque vampires, either. Beckham and his ilk may be gorgeous and perfect looking, but this brood is far more interesting and complex. Only the wealthy vampires are thriving because they can afford to hire people to be their "blood escorts," which means a class battle of sorts is brewing. I liked how KA Linde uses that plot thread to make you connect even deeper to this story. It isn't just vampires and humans, it's haves, have-nots, privileged and poor.

Of course there is a romance, and since this is the first book of a series, you can be sure that the romance builds slowly. KA Linde makes you question whether Reyna and Becks will wind up together, whether they have enough in common to be a couple. There are a couple of scenes that broke my heart for Reyna, and there was one scene that left me weeping for Becks.

This is a spicy, intense start to what no doubt will prove to be a spicy, intense series. I can't wait for the next book!

I’ve been a fan of Ms. Linde’s since she made me fall for the number one ahole, Jack while reading Avoiding Commitment. I’ve watched her dip her feet in different genres. First with fantasy with the Ascension series and now PNR with Blood Type. I can say without a doubt I will read anything this woman writes. I won’t lie, I didn’t warm up to Beckham until the end of the story. I love a good jerk, but a vampire jerk LOL takes the cake. Believe it or not the vampires aren’t the scariest thing in this story. The scariest thing for me was how I could easily see our world turning as rock-bottom as this make-believe world….minus the vamps. With that cliffhanger of an ending I am super excited that this series will be released months apart.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.

Blood Type is a twist on how vampires will rule once they come out of hiding and take over the world.  The mix of humans and vampires isn't what one would think it would turn out to be.  Human jobs are not typically high paying.

Reyna is desperate to help her brothers out with some type of income so she visits the lab to have her blood tested.  Once tested one of the company big wigs, Beckham, claims her as his blood servant.

There's a few ups and downs in this story with Reyna and Beckham.  Not everything is as it seems. Reyna needs Beckham to help keep her safe and alive. She doesn't see it that way because secrets are held close to Beckham's chest.

If you're one who loves to read about vampires - I think you may enjoy Blood Type.  I can't wait to read Blood Match!

With Ms Linde, you know you are going to get a great story, there’s a reason she’s always a go to author for me but Blood Type was just so much more than what I was expecting!!! I FREAKING LOVED IT!! This was the book that you read whenever you can! You read in the bathroom, at work, any free second you have you have your nose in your kindle because you cannot get enough of it! This was a HUGE 5 star read for me and I’m adding this one to my Best of 2018 list!! It’s that good!!

Reyna and her brothers are barely surviving. They live in the lower class and have to use every dollar just to live. Reyna had to drop out of college as the cost was too high. Her brothers support her but their jobs at a warehouse barely pay for food and rent. Reyna knows she must do something to contribute and decides to do something she never thought she would do, apply to work as a blood donor to a vampire with the largest company in the world. She thought she could get a regular job but when she goes for screening, she finds out she is a match for a new program that is just rolling out. A permanent residence with a vampire with the same blood type. At first she is hesitant but knows the money will help her brothers and give them more than they could ever dream off.

Beckham is a top executive in Visage, a vampire company that is breaking through on how to sustain blood for vampires. If you love that alpha that drives you crazy with his broodiness that you will love Becks!! He is assigned Reyna due to the match in blood types but the signals he gives Reyna will make your head spin. Their chemistry is off the charts but there is more to Becks than meets the eye. He’s all alpha and frustrating as hell! Why do we love the jerks??!!

There is so much more to this story and I don’t want to spoil it!! The twist and turns were so unexpected and laid the ground work for an amazing series!! I cannot wait for the next installment in the series! Blood Type will frustrate you, it will have you wanting to slap someone, and it will leave you on the edge of your seat!! Go one click Blood Type and see how it all plays out!!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Loveswept for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

VAMPIRES!!!! Oh heck yes! Sign me up!!

This is the first book I have read by K.A. Linde and I would love to read more from her. This is a world that is run by wealthy and affluent vampires and most of the human population lives in poverty. Reyna who lives with her two brothers is unable to find a job. They are barely making ends meet or put food on the table. Reyna decides to work as a blood escort for the vampires in order to help her brothers. When Reyna applies she learns that she will be a live in for one of the more prestigious vampires.

For me this book started out strong and I was on a roll until about half way through it. I had a hard time with Reyna and how she went back and forth so much. I felt like she was supposed to come off as naïve but it seemed more defiant. She would want to leave Beckham but wanted him to chase her. I really they thought they lacked chemistry so it was hard to even imagine this as a romance. Then there’s Beckham. The book tells you how he is a monster with a dark past but it don’t say why. I know it sounds like I am picking this apart or that I didn’t care for it but I did. Those were just parts that stood out. I liked the political aspects of the book and the premise that this book was based off. I loved the ending! I can’t wait for book two.

Warning, this is a book for adults. There may be some triggers with some of the violence and abuse that Reyna receives at the hands of others. It also ends in a serious cliffhanger.

5 ★ - Dangerously Fun, Pleasantly Tantalizing and Deliciously Sexy!

It’s been such a long time since I’ve read vampire books, so I didn’t really have super high expectations for this one. The cover definitely lured me in and I was in the mood for something steamy and sexy. Well, this book completely took my breath away. It was so damn good and way better than I expected it would be. Oh and that insanely wicked cliffhanger...Ughh I don’t know what to do with myself. So glad I saw this book on Netgalley and took a bite cause I am addicted and dying to get my hands on the next installment!!

Blood Type by K.A. Linde is dangerously fun, pleasantly tantalizing, and so deliciously sexy. I was extremely enamored by the world building and storyline that I found it almost impossible to put the book down. It’s dark, mysterious, and quite terrifying at times, but incredibly fascinating. I’ve never read anything by this author, but I can honestly say that I am completely hooked. It’s definitely one of those books that would keep you up late at night fighting sleep as long as possible. I know I did and no regrets... Even if I had to load up on caffeine for work the next day.

K.A. Linde also knows how to keep you on your toes. The plot twist totally took me by surprise. I kind of knew there would be something in the end that would leave me in an emotional mess, but I was not prepared for that at all. It was like someone ripped my heart away and stomped on it over and over. I was hurt. angry and scared for Reyna and so sad for Beckham. Don't want to spoil all the juicy fun so just be prepared for the FEELS.

I thought Reyna was a great MC. She was a tad bit whiney at times, but she had plenty of qualities that made her likable. She was passionate, determined, and a fighter. Beckham… where do I even begin. He was enigmatic, sexy, charming, and dangerous. He was hot and cold and at times even a little mean. He frustrated me and I wanted to slap him so many times, but like Reyna, I was undeniable drawn to him. Their chemistry was amazing and the push and pull between them was so addictive.

This book sucked me in, stole my heart and left me breathless. There’s romance, suspense, humor, steam, and characters you can’t help but root for. Blood Type by K.A. Linde is without a doubt an awesome thrilling paranormal romance book. I really enjoyed exploring this dark and dangerous dystopian world where humans and vampires coexist and I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I wanted to love this book.. I love everything Linde writes but this one just did not work for me. There were a few things that just bothered me. One, I can't stand when a male calls a female little one. My grandpa calls me little one.. so that just freaks me out. Two, I did not like Reyna. I think she was brave for stepping up and doing something that terrified her so she could take care of her family. That is fantastic. But I HATED how she kept throwing herself at Becks. It was embarrassing. Becks straight up told her he was seeing someone else and Reyna thought it was totally fine to be like NO you want me! She just rubbed me the wrong way.

Now there are things that I really did love about the book. I loved the world building and I loved the society. It's different take on a vampire run world and I am in to it. I think it was interesting and very well written. I want to know what happens next. I really do. I hope Reyna grows up a bit though.. and I hope Becks can keep being honest.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

This is the first in a new series. The setting is Earth, but not as we know it. The economy has left most penniless and with now healthcare. Those who do find work, work in horrid conditions for little money.
Reyna can't afford college and can't find a job. Her brothers work in awful conditions, and barely make enough money to feed themselves let alone their sister. She makes a decision that will change her life, and not necessarily for the better. She decides to sell her blood to the Vampires. Yes, vampires have pretty much taken over. They seem to have the money and seem to run the human world. When she signs up for this, she finds there is a new program where they partner you with a permanent vampire. The pay is quite a bit more, and she doesn't have much choice. When she meets her Vampire, Beckham, he seems to not like her. He is always avoiding her and wants her just to be quite. Really confusing to her is he doesn't take her blood. Reyna feels alone and yet she is drawn to Beckham who every once in awhile seems to look at her with hunger.
So much going on, so many feelings reading this story. So many unanswered questions. Book 2 can't release soon enough for me.

FINALLY! Blood Type has been sitting on my kindle BEGGING for my attention for-freaking-EVER and I was finally able to get it in my line-up! I have been wanting a story like this for a long time…it’s a sexy mix between The Hunger Games and Twilight and it was right up my alley!

In a world where vampires and humans are both in existence but out in the open, the vampires are holding the control. It is an intriguing story of coexistence and finding a “cure” for the beast within. The humans are poor, desolate, desperate. The economy is in the toilet and the elite (aka the vamps) are living the good life. KA Linde paints a picture of this world so vividly. You can picture it all, see them walking down the clean city streets or in the dregs of the warehouses. Feel the emotions, the palpable tension in the air…it’s all there, waiting for you!

No one thinks kindly of anyone, because no one is kind to anyone else. One act will change no one’s opinion.

Reyna has run out of options….she feels like a burden to her brothers and only wants to do what she feels is right. By joining Visage, the vampire conglomerate, she sets things in motion like she never could have believed. She is young and naive but she is a fast learner. Reyna is introduced to a lifestyle like no other…the things that go bump in the night are now her reality. Experiencing this all first hand has to be terrifying but she takes it all in stride, for the most part.

This man was a thing of nightmares.

Beckham Anderson…holy hotness with fangs. He is controlled and impeccable. He is all business and is trying to do what he feels is right. Beckham was an enigma to me. I couldn’t figure him out, he frustrated the hell out of me but in a good way. He’s hot and then he’s cold. He’s pure adrenaline and then a downer. You could feel his anguish and the internal battle he is constantly battling.

How boring your life must be to have no one to fill you with passion and make your emotions run high. I’ll take my chances with the monster over complacency.

I cannot wait for more of this story. The next two parts cannot come fast enough.

Gripping and original. An entertaining and engaging paranormal romance. Characters are complex, the storyline is involving, and the plot intense. Reyna is a human. She is capable and determined. I loved that she was strong enough to do what she had to do to survive. Beckham (Becks) is a vampire. He is intimidating, brooding and a definite hero that brings out powerful emotions in the reader, be it love or hate or even both at the same time. Together these two make a compelling couple, with great chemistry. Does end on a cliffhanger.

I absolutely love vampire books, they are one of my guilty reading pleasures. There are not enough good ones out there in my opinion so when one comes out I get excited. Now when one of my favourite authors announces that she is putting out a series of vampire books, it’s worth celebrating. I was super stoked when KA Linde decided to publish vampire Thanks books, I knew she would push this genre to new heights.
I really loved book one of the series, I loved how the author didn’t rush the relationship between Reyna and Beckham. How she is making their relationship/arrangement feel organic and real. The angst is up there (of course) it is a KA Linde book and I love that. The story just sinks it’s teeth into you and sucks you dry. The story is unique and refreshing in a sea of vampire books, this one truly sticks out.
The ending was omg so now of course I’m not so patiently waiting for book two.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one honestly. It had some good moments, and then some not so great ones. I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.

So I’m all for vampire books, although admittedly I haven’t read a ton. This one felt a little reminiscent of Twilight to me in certain aspects, but I won’t say how because it’s spoilery. It’s an adult book, so there’s obviously more language, violence, and things of sexual nature.

I wanted to love this one, but unfortunately it fell a little flat for me. The beginning was slow going with the introduction to the world taking too long. Reyna seemed too naive, and impulsive, to relate to her. Sometimes I wasn’t sure what to think about Beckham; he was kind of all over the place. I liked him sometimes, and then felt kind of meh about him other times. Without giving anything away, there were some action/dramatic scenes that were pretty entertaining.

There was a “cliffhanger” at the end of this book, but I wasn’t really that surprised by it…and it didn’t make me want to scream in agony for the next book. Although I do have questions that I still want answered. There were a few original twists in the plot, but I mostly figured out what was happening before it happened. Maybe that’s just because I’m a good guesser? No idea.

The setting of the book was probably one of the most interesting parts; it was kind of a dystopian world, but with vampires. Overall it was a good book, but I didn’t end up loving it like I thought I would after reading the summary.

I have no words... trying to write a review is beyond hard. I am not a paranormal reader, but I really enjoyed this book. Beckham is one SEXY vampire, and the chemistry between him and Reyna is HOT. There were times when the back and forth between them got a little annoying, but in the end we realize why he kept pushing her away. The plot twists are on point and the ending in true K.A Linde fashion leaves you wanting so much more. I cannot wait for the next book, June can’t get here fast enough!
3.5 stars!

Oh. My. Gosh..... As someone who has a major love for vampire stories I’m rather picky about them and this one quickly became a new favorite. It’s so original which is what I loved the most. It’s not your typical vampire story at all, the world Blood Type is set in is unique and brilliant. The characters grab you right away, some in good ways and some not so good. The writing in this is fantastic, I promise you’ll have a hard time putting it down! The next book can’t come soon enough!!

The characters were well developed and the storyline was well written which kept me totally hooked until the very last page was turned!

As a huge re-reader of the Avoiding series, I was super curious to see what Linde would do in the paranormal genre. The author created an interesting world where the reader learns right alongside the main character. Flowing organically with ease, this type of delivery of information creates a smooth transition, devoid of info-dumpage.

Reyna was raised by her brothers, all of them orphans, in a world where only the rich live above the poverty line. This is a world where vampires roam and rule, and there are new laws and legislation going into place that affects the humans.

Reyna doesn’t wish to be a burden on her brothers anymore, unable to go college to better herself because they don’t have the money, yet unable to work because she doesn’t have a college degree, in a vicious cycle to keep those who are poor in an unescapable position.

Out of options, for survival’s sake, Reyna applies to become the blood host to a prominent vampire and gets more than she bargained for. In walks in Beckham.

I don’t want to give away the plot, as that’s the setup and nothing that’s not in the blurb or sample. I will say that Linde delivers the usual steamy, angsty, gut-punch of emotion tied up with a paranormal bow.

Reyna is left wondering if she’s good enough for Beckham, if he wants her, if he wants another woman more than her, this adding the angsty edge that is oh-so yummy. Reyna is part martyr, part naïve girl who does do some stupid running away, but she’s 100% survivor.

Beckham is the classic douche – strong, reserved, reluctant, demanding, emotionally devoid alpha male. Rich, in a prominent position, Beckham has an image to protect and a secret being kept, and any affection he may hold for Reyna could destroy it.

Blood Type was an angsty, juicy, fangy read, ending on a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to get my claws into the next installment.

I really liked the whole premise of this story. It’s a new direction in a vampire novel that feels different and fresh. While I really liked the premise and found the story intriguing, I also felt it could have moved a little bit faster. My need for instant gratification had me starting to get annoyed with the dangling carrot, so to speak. I also felt that more background on Beckham would have better connected me to his character. But some might like his stoic and very elusive, evasive self. To me, he was all mystery with nothing to snuggle up to except short glimpses of lust-filled eyes and plundering, stolen kisses. I needed some type of vulnerability in him far sooner in the story because by the time he showed any type of real emotion, I had already made my opinion of him.

Reyna was a well written female protagonist and had everything I usually like in a leading lady. She is doing what she must for her family. She puts her brothers before her own welfare to keep them from working themselves to death in the mines. Taking Beckham’s money and fancy home for granted, albeit, as his hired employee, she becomes a bit vapid and flirts a bit too much with danger. Becoming a little too reckless in her role in this very dangerous new life with lethal vampires. Without spoilers, I liked the idea that Beckham may not be all he seems and could possibly have a different outlook than his fellow brethren. There’s a large cliffhanger that was played out nicely with a betrayal that you didn’t see coming. I’m interested to read book two and see where this story goes!

I have a confession. Despite being a massive fan of Buffy and Angel, I’m not really into vampire stories and Blood Type is the first vampire romance I’ve read. I’m not big on paranormal stories generally, but every now and then I try to move out of my comfort zone.

So what did I think of Blood Type? I thought it was brilliant! I was quickly sucked in to Reyna’s life. I’m a sucker for characters that are struggling to survive, so I connected to Reyna right from the beginning. Reyna goes from living with her brothers in a poor area and barely surviving, to living in luxury with vampire Beckham as his blood escort. She is now getting paid and has access to the best of everything. Beckham (or Becks as Reyna calls him – which made me cringe every time she said it), doesn’t give much away and doesn’t share much with Reyna. Their relationship develops over time, but it is fraught with difficulties that had Reyna’s emotions all over the place. It had my emotions all over the place too!

This is one of those stories where as a reader you can see the bigger picture and you get to watch the heroine (Reyna) discover and figure out what you had already guessed. Even being able to see the bigger picture, there were still unexpected twists and an ending that I didn’t see coming. Blood Type completely consumed me, and I am desperate to get my hand on book #2, Blood Match, which thankfully releases at the end of June. Bring it on – I can’t wait for more Reyna and Beckham.

4.5-4.75 STARS

In a society where vampires coexist amongst humans and poverty reigns supreme, desperation becomes the seed for a beneficial alliance to take root. And the result of said alliance? Visage--a corporation that caters to the vampire elite, paying humans a generous wage to serve as willing blood escorts to their wealthy clientele. Still, societal prejudice and distrust runs rampant, with many humans viewing blood escorts with outrage and distaste. No doubt, there fears have merit, as some vampires prefer to treat their human meals as nothing more than subservient little play toys.

For Reyna Carpenter, becoming a blood escort is a necessity, not a choice—her family’s survival, paramount above all else. But there are two things Reyna never counted on:

1. Being hired as a “permanent” escort for much more money,

And her vampire match…

2. Beckham Anderson—the gorgeous, darkly brooding and intimidating CEO of Visage, who gives new meaning to the term, tall, dark and handsome.

As Beckham’s live-in “permanent,” Reyna is introduced to a world of infinite wealth and luxury. But with that, comes an employer whose temperament runs hot and cold. Becks is quiet; reserved; controlled. Yet beneath his steely demeanor, desire flares, causing Becks to struggle to keep his attraction towards Reyna carefully in check. But Reyna feels the attraction too and finds herself frustrated with Becks’ constant push and pull. So, as the air around them continues to sizzle, Reyna longs for Becks to finally lose control. But a fiercely protective Becks vows to keep a vulnerable Reyna safe—even if that means protecting her from himself. Because Becks is holding back more than just his emotions. And it’s his secrets that could ultimately prove the most harmful..

Boasting a unique and intriguing premise, “Blood Type” is book #1 in author K.A. Linde’s new 3-book paranormal romance series. While this is not typically my preferred genre, I found “Blood Type” to be a very pleasant surprise. Because at its very core, this is simply a love story—one with a touch of suspense and a paranormal twist. And with a cliffhanger ending that provided some answers while simultaneously posing new questions, this is one book that has left me desperate for more. Thankfully, the wait won’t be very long, as books 2 & 3 are due to be released in June and August, respectively--both, of which, I have already pre-ordered.

Calling all PNR lovers, holy vamps! DO I HAVE A NEW ADDICTION for you. K.A. Linde has sunk her teeth into the world of vampires with a deliciously sensual and wicked new series. The first book, Blood Type, kept me on my toes, consuming me completely. It has everything you want in a vampire romance. From sizzling chemistry, to a powerful hero, to a series of gasp worthy twists and turns, to a wicked ending which leaves you breathless, Blood Type has it all. I seriously want to fast forward to June just so I can get my hands on Blood Match, the sequel, because when it comes to PNR this is definitely the start of your next addiction! I know it is mine, I am obsessed, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Reyna needs money. Living with her two brothers, unable to get a job because the economy has crashed, she does the one thing she knows her brothers will hate—signing up with Visage (the largest corporation in the world) to be a blood escort. Terrified yet resolute in what she knows she has to do, Reyna gets the call she’s been desperate for. Visage, a corporation which places humans with vampires for feeding, has accepted her application.

Now, let me pause right here. The concept of this novel is absolute book crack! It fresh and original and I could not read fast enough. I was consumed with the storyline, so much so that I almost wanted to read ahead to find out what was going to happen. THE ANGST. THE ANTICIPATION OF WHAT WAS TO COME! Gah. Gah. Gah. I can’t even. There are so many twists and turns. And the hero, Beckham, will destroy you in the BEST way. He's masculine and powerful and decadent. Seriously, the way he is described, the way he is, will make you weak in the knees.

::: Swoons forever :::

Anyway, so back to the story. Reyna goes to Visage, they test her blood, she’s placed in a special program where she gets permanent placement with a vampire and she’s paid double! Hooray. Desperate for money, she obviously accepts and is put with Beckham—who happens to be the Vice President of Visage. AHHHHHHHH! (Gosh, when I think of him my belly flutters!) And from here the story takes off.

You never settle in or relax with this book. Blood Type keeps you on your toes. It’s full on vampy GREATNESS. Reyna and Beckham destroy you with a slow burn that has you yearning and tingling and dying. Add in the world building, the characters who play the villains, the subplot… I can’t even tell you. K.A Linde outdid herself, bringing to life a PNR Romance that pulls you in and takes root inside you. I loved everything about it and I can’t wait to get my hands on the sequel. This is most definitely a must read for any PNR romance fan! So great.
