Reyna Carpenter lives in the Warehouse District. She and her two brothers are living in poverty and close to starvation. With this she makes a life-altering decision without consulting her brothers. She will work for Visage and become a blood escort for a vampire.

Beckham Anderson lives in the city. He is Senior Vice-President of Visage Inc and is rich. He is also a vampire and Reyna’s new Sponsor.

They could not be more different. Upon first meeting he is cool, calm and controlled. She is friendly, open and full of questions. Beckham is dressed impeccably in a tailored suit while she is dressed in ripped jeans, a dirty t-shift and hand-me-down Converse shoes.

What they do have in common is attraction and the fact that for better or worse they are together indefinitely or until one is no longer satisfied with the union.

With Reyna living under his roof and getting under his skin, he cannot keep up his façade of indifference for long and Reyna is just waiting to reel him in.

As the passion rises between them, there is danger lurking everywhere. From rogue vampires to Visage itself.

Will Reyna want to stay in this new world where every friend can also be her foe and where danger lurks around every corner?

Although this book started a little slow for me, it picked up quickly. It is entertaining, different and original. Once Reyna is placed with Beckham the pace picked up and from there I was intrigued in. The plot caught and held my attention.

It is the first book I read by this author and it will not be the last.

In the beginning, I disliked Beckham and found him to be an arrogant ass. It was heartbreaking to see him dismiss Reyna, without a care, over and over again.

The highlight for me, was Reyna. I loved her sass and her fight. She did not allow Beckham to belittle her. I also felt for Reyna, she was looking for a place to fit in but she couldn’t. Beckham was too aloof and ignored her most of the time while any human friends she made would judge her for working for Visage. Rock meet hard place.

In the second part of the book, the carnality notched up several degrees. So sexy. Beckham was reserved but Reyna brought out the passion and the animal in him quite literally.

The only thing that bothered me a little was Reyna’s response when she got what she was looking for. It left me with a WTH is going on feeling.

As for the ending, my god what a cliff-hanger! I soo need to read the next book! Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

DNF

I was excited to give this one a shot because vampires! But then I read it and I couldn't click with the main character's voice or the book as a whole. I also thought the arrangement was a bit toxic, so I doubt I would have been able to enjoy the rest of the story. Oh and I found out this was a trilogy too and this one ends on a cliffhanger. So maybe it was a good thing this ended up being a DNF for me!

Oh my...This is a MUST read! Even if you normally don’t read the genre, give this book a try! This book was the best of three different series mixed in one. Such a great story and Becks, oh my Becks, enough time said. I am excited to read the next two books in the series when they come out. It does end a cliffhanger BUT again you MUST read it!

This was not was what I was expecting. The first 1/2 was great, then the last 1/2 lost me. I prefer my paranormal reads to be engrossed in the story and this one I wasn't. I didn't have that urge of reading it all in one sitting. I was fighting with trying the finish the end since I knew it ended in a cliffhanger. I had high hopes. Reyna annoyed me big time. In the beginning she seems meek, and introvert. Then all of the sudden since she becomes employed with Visage and as a live-in to Beckham (which I don't like the nickname Becks) she starts throwing fits, doesn't follow directions and repeats it. Some of the things Reyna says sounds like it was just for sake of drama/argument in the story and not according to her character from the beginning of the book. I also wasn't feeling the relationship between the 2 main characters.

5 multiplied times infinity stars...

First. When Kyla and team chose to add me to the ARC Squad, I literally lost my mind. I mean winning the lottery, rubbing the lamp and finding a genie, & the hottest guy in the world paying off all my debts all rolled into one “you’ve been selected email”, I. LOST. MY. MIND. EXCITED.
I seriously love, devour, read, & re-read everything of her’s. Her books are PHENOMENAL and so well written. The character development so legit and real. I even message her about secondary characters. And she responds.
I. Love. Me. Some. KA Linde. Books.
But, please know that this review is on an early copy but if it was less than 5 stars I’d still be honest. Even though I flipping love her stuff.

Second. But more importantly. Blood Type. Just stop reading this and go start the book. Seriously. I won’t be offended. Staaahp, open, click, whatevs. Start. This. Book.

You’re still reading? Ok. Here goes. Some are probably thinking...
Don’t usually read paranormal? Welp. Me either.
Don’t usually care about vampires? Ditto
Kinda over the world is coming to an end by means of greed etc? Completely agree.

Rest assured I feel the same way and this book, this story, these characters... I can’t even come up with a word to describe how fan-f*cking-tastic Blood Type is!!! I wish I could go back to yesterday and call in sick so I could devote the entire day to uninterrupted gluttony, devouring this book.

Now, how to say enough to get you to read it with no spoilers. Hmmmmm. Tricky. Tricky.
That’s hard. Remember I mentioned I didn’t normally read paranormal (I love me some BDB, Mercy Thompson, Charlie Davidson, but other than those 3 series, I usually pass) so. While saying that, agreeing to be on the arc squad means I have to read every book she writes, right? Even ones I normally wouldn’t. I went into this book knowing the writing would be EXCELLENT, knowing I love her stuff, figuring I’d tough through so I’d meet my obligations on a para gig, paying forward waiting on Sav’s story to come out in May. I went into this book with very little plot or blurb knowledge. I hadn’t even read the general synopsis on the ‘back cover’. Well. Going in blind worked. This story has it all. Sucked me in.

Meet Reyna, beloved sister to two hardworking Brothers, in a society that deems her near useless.

Meet Visage, a company providing a life source to vampires. Think Match.com meets a fertility clinic. So. Basically. You can apply to be a donor and they (Visage) match up the human with a vampire of their blood type to feed. They pay better than any other job out there.

Meet Beckham. Vampire. Matches with Reyna.

Know a couple things going in.
You WILL fall in love with Beckham.
You WILL adore Reyna.
You will want the 2nd book immediately.
You will NOT regret reading this and if you haven’t already you will Buy all her other books*

*start with Brody or the Avoiding series, signed sincerely, a tip from a fan ;)

There’s steamy, hot parts and endearing sweet parts. And heartbreaking plot twists. Roll with it.

Please note this is book 1 in a trilogy. It will end in a cliffhanger. Book 2 is due around 6/26 and 3 around 8/21.

If you like legit heroes and chemistry. This is the book for you. There is so much more I want to say but don’t want to spoil it for anyone!!!

I'm going to be honest and tell you that I struggle when reading/reviewing books where I know the story isn't complete going in. That little nugget of information tends to linger while I am reading and flavors how I see things.
That said, I can also admit that having finished Blood Type I am now anxiously waiting for Blood Match so that we can see what happens to Reyna and Becks next.
Blood Type is a lot of different things rolled into one story. Yes, it's a paranormal story (vampires), but there are also strong elements of personal intrigue, political maneuvering, and the beginnings
of a romance.
Set in an alternate reality, we meet our heroine Reyna as she is setting out to try to make things better for her family. The path she follows leads her to living with a mysterious vampire, Beckham. I liked Reyna, but there were elements of her personality that I struggled with; a lot of that may have been her age (she's 21). It was harder to get a read on Beckham as we only see him from Reyna's perspective. I would have definitely appreciated seeing parts of the story from his Point of View.
I enjoyed Blood Type and really want to know where the story is headed!

Paranormal romance is not my thing. It just isn't. If it has a werewolf, or a shifter of any type, or a fairy, I am out, thanks for asking.

Vampires, however, are not paranormal, so we are all just fine here. (Can we please just all pretend that this is true, together, just for a bit? Thanks. Appreciate it.)

Anyway, like I was saying, it's ok if you don't like paranormal, as it's just vampires...and, well, the way Kyla Linde writes them, you just don't care that it is a paranormal romance, that it seems to be set in the future (although not enough that it is really noticeable) and that some major changes have happened to the world in which we live. In ways, the way it was written reminded me a little of the way the world in The Hunger Games was set out. It's not the same, but there are some parallels with the way society has fragmented.

Beckham and Reyna are not a match made in heaven, or love. In fact, as you find out quickly, he is rather indifferent to her...and he has his reasons. Lots of them in fact. Some of them are a surprise, others are obvious and the big one? Well, let's say that I did not see it coming, but possibly because I am not one to think on the book I am reading and try to guess where it is going. That said, after I finished the title, and got to the evil, mean, awful cliffhanger at the end of the book, I can't say the revelation and the events were a surprise.

What was a surprise is how thoroughly I enjoyed this title, as it is not a sub-genre I usually connect with. I was interested in the book because I enjoy this author. I loved the book because of the characters, the plot and the story.

I recommend this title.

Blood Type by K.A. Linde is book One in the Blood Type Series. This is the story of Reyna Carpenter and Beckham Anderson.
In this book the Vampires are the top of the people chain and humans are more of the poor side of town. Reyna is a human who wants to help her poor family and goes forward to become a paid blood escort. Beckham is the VP of Visage and his attraction to Reyna is quick but not all is easy with them.
This book does end with a cliffhanger to set up their story for the next installment in this series.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures is what drove Reyna, the heroine, to sign up to be at the beck and call of Beckham, the hero. He’s a tall, dark, handsome, top of the heap vampire executive who works for a company that matches vamps to highly compensated humans who are paid to be available anytime/anywhere their blood is desired.

Naturally, many humans view this with disgust and animosity as vampires seemed to have wormed their way into dominating over the human race, after the economy conveniently collapsed and most people are struggling to barely survive.

With a Tale of Two Cities type backdrop, Reyna starts to realize there’s a whole lot more going on than she ever imagined. Beckham himself becomes a mystery as he seems possessive but aloof with her all at the same time. Never requiring her for the service he pays her extravagantly for just adds to the mystery.

I was pulled in hook, line, and sinker, folks. Unfortunately, the author did add some elements I do not particularly care for in my romantic reads. There is another woman named Penelope that has obvious ongoing history with Beckham. An explanation is given later, but I still didn’t like it. I'll leave it at that, folks, since I may say too much. Just know as an avid romantic at heart, I'm not a fan of anyone coming between the main couple. In fact, there were a couple times I was downright furious about this aspect.

Beckham’s big bad secret didn’t come as too much of a surprise to me. I mostly started to suspect and guess what was going to happens towards the end, as the author dropped some clues if you paid attention.

What surprised me was the graphic OTT, out of the blue, sex club scene that felt like witnessing sexual assault on a stage. Sure, it made the vamps come across as sex deviants, but I also didn’t need another play by Penny to appear she was Beckham's girl, especially since Beckham wasn't keeping his hands off Reyna moments earlier.

If you are into this genre and don’t mind other woman drama, you might want to check into this series. The writing flows and stays engaging, though little happens for some time. I’m sorry to say it looks like the author has decided to take three books instead of one to wrap up the story line. Based on the titles alone, it gives a good glimpse of what the main theme will be in each one. I am curious to see how it all turns out. I've got a feeling humans are going to join forces with unexpected allies to put a stop to being forced to be at the mercy and so subservient to vampires by the final conclusion.

Title: Blood Type, Series: Blood Type (Book 1), Author: K.A. Linde, Pages: 290, vampire paranormal, ends in a cliffhanger, heroine is human, vampire hero, graphic sex club scene, attempted rape, OW drama, heroine feels rejected/humiliated, not romance safe, hurtful/callous at times hero.

Book 1 - Blood Type
Book 2 - Blood Match
Book 3 - Blood Cure

When I stumbled upon Blood Type and read the blurb, my interest was peaked and considering how much I’ve enjoyed the authors Wright family, I figured I’d give it a go since I’m always down for a good PNR especially when it’s by an author I already like.

Unfortunately, Blood Type just didn’t do it for me ~ or at least the romance side of it didn’t.

I loved the whole dystopian world thing with the vampires being the top dogs and a company that will match a human to them based on blood type. And while I would have liked a little more detail on the ‘collapse’ I rolled with it and was definitely interested in seeing where things were going to go with the ‘blood’ storyline.

But that’s kind of where things began and ended because I just couldn’t get into Reyna and Beckham and therefore their budding romance just fell flat for me. Reyna just gave me whiplash. I realize she is in a situation so far out of her league that she was going to stumble from time to time until she found her feet, but she never did. She made too many choices, some impetuous, some not, that landed her in situations that she needed saving from that it was simply tiring. Then there is Beckham. Believe me when I say that I LOVE me a tall, dark, handsome broody alpha AF male. I do. I LOVE them, and Beckham had that whole vibe going on, but even he fell short of the mark for me because he was too silent. I know? Is there such a thing? Yes. there is. I just needed more of him and I didn’t get it.

So with my very meh feelings towards Reyna and Beckham, it’s no surprise that the romance flopped for me, not that there was a lot going on. They barely spoke and when it they did it was stilted at best. True, Beckham saved her life a few times, but I also kind of blame his silence on why she ended up in some of them. Awkward interactions and the constant push and pull going on just didn’t give me enough to believe that they could have more.

It truly does pain me to not have enjoyed this book more. It really does, but it is what it is. You win some, you lose some and this book and I just didn’t work out like I had hoped we would.

This is not your normal Vampire story! This is an unique and original storyline that kept the pages turning. Exceptional character development and lots of twists and turns in the plotline! This does end in a cliffhanger. I am anxiously awaiting the next book!!

I volunteered to read this ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

To be honest I couldn’t tell you how I stumbled upon Blood Typeon NetGalley. I am not really into Vampire books or movies having only watched the first Twilight film. I was very worried that I wouldn’t like it because Paranormal has always been a hit or miss for me. I was left surprised after reading the last page. I enjoyed the story guys!!!! like really enjoyed it to the point that I wished that it could be a movie. Blood Type has a very unique concept of the vampire world which was so intriguing. Wow, this author is very creative.

In regards to the story itself, Reyna and Beckham are of two different worlds. Reyna, I am still a little iffy about. She doesn’t quite get under my skin like other female heroine but I found her very noisy.
Beckham was mysterious and dark. I felt like I didn’t know a lot about him but then again his character is mysterious and keeps to himself a lot.
The characters were OK, I wasn’t head over heels for them but I think that the story itself made we want to read what was going to happen next. I knew there was going to be another book because there were so many things left unanswered as the story was coming to an end. I will definitely be tuning in, to read what happens next especially after that ending, HOLY!!!!

My reasons for not 5 staring this book.
1. Third person narrative: ugghhhh my least favorite but I was able to get pass this and read the story.
2. The above had a lot to do with my connecting with the characters. I just couldn’t feel anything towards them. I needed to feel that emotional roller coaster that I love so much.

Overall, I liked Blood Typeas it had an interesting twist on the Vampire/Human world.

***Can I also add that this cover deserves 2 thumbs up****

Blood Type is a well-written, interesting story of a world where vampires are in control and most humans are living in poverty unless they're willing to submit to those in power. The story is fast-paced and filled with danger, betrayal, intrigue, and even some steamy moments for our main characters. All of this should have easily made this one a four or even five star read and I did enjoy a lot of those things. However, my problems lay with the characters and their so-called romance. So much about Beckham and Reyna is a bit too close to Twilight - he's the brooding vampire, determined to stay away from the weak human but just can't seem to do that, and she's the stubborn human whose blood smells way too good, and she seems to have an uncanny knack for running headlong into danger with no regard to the consequences, almost in spite of Beckham's determination to keep her safe. The biggest problem is that this pair don't quite pull it off. They lack that special something that would make me want to root for their happy ending. That may be in part to the fact that I never really warmed up to Reyna. She's immature and her back and forth about Beckham grew tedious and frustrating. She's throwing herself at him one minute, even when she thinks he's otherwise attached, and pouting and hating him the next. There are some unpredictable twists and one whopper of a cliffy, but considering my feelings about this couple, I'm still on the fence about whether I'll continue with the series.

Blood Type by KA Linde was what I was hoping it would be, but it also was so much more. A fantasy world with vampires, shifters alike. A romance that swept me off my feet, and a broody alpha who stole my heart.

We are thrust into a world where human and mankind alike know of the blood suckers. And with the economy on a standstill find income being blood slaves. Reyna and her family are struggling, little to no food.... things are looking dire. Until a chance of a lifetime arises. She is matched and to become Beckham's blood donor / slave.

Beckham is one of the wealthiest vampires around, and gives Reyna everything she desires except never feeds off of her. He shows her a side see has yet to see with these foolish blood suckers. He becomes her protector and soon lover.

But danger is right around the corner.
Human and Vampire alike must work together to make this world a better place. Beckham and Reyna soon realize their true feelings for one another right when things grow dire. Will he be able to keep Reyna safe? Or will he lose her in the process?

I couldn't get enough of this book, and I can't wait for book 2.
Get ready for the shock of your lives. The cliff hanger ending nearly destroyed me.

I really was surprised at how much I enjoyed the story line. It opens with Reyna Carter living in an advanced society of humans and vampires; however the vampires are the supreme and the humans simply vessels for blood supply to the vampires. The Vampires have taken over and the humans live in poverty with little chance at earning a living unless they want to give up their life source -- blood.
Reyna is trying to find work to help support her two brothers and survive it a dystopian type world where humans are merely a food source.. She enters into an agreement with Visage, a company that helps supply blood donors to vampires. Reyna accepts an offer to be a donor for Beckham Anderson who is one of the elite that works for Visage.
From the moment Reyna and Becks meet the attraction starts between them along with secrets and quite a few surprises including a cliff hanger ending that was really good. I loved the chemistry between the dark and brooding Beckham and Reyna. Reyna was a little timid but eventually she showed her strength. Before too long Beckham was starting to see he had met his match.
While most people do not like a cliff hanger ending I do. I love the anticipation of waiting for the next book. This was my first read by K.A. Linde. I'm looking forward to reading the next book and see what else the author has written.

OH MY GOODNESS!! YOU GUYSSSS! This book was AMAAAAAAAAZING! I can't express just how much I loved it! K.A. Linde kept me enraptured and unable to put this book down. Seriously. I read until 1:30 in the morning ... on a work night! I was 1000% invested and the chemistry between Rayna and Beckham was so delicious. I enjoyed the push and pull between them. Both were strong characters and she didn't let anyone walk all over her. I loved her inquisitiveness and her strong will. Beckham was all male and he didn't want to give into her. The attraction was strong between them and there was so much happening that Rayna didn't know. I enjoyed the way things were revealed bit-by-bit and I found myself holding my breath, waiting to see what was going to happen next! I'm going to die before I get Blood Match in June, but totally worth it! What's that you say? You don't care for vampire stories? Well, I beg you to give this one a chance because I think this author will have you thinking otherwise!

Oh my goodness! This book blew so many other paranormal books out of the water! K.A. Linde has done it again! When I didn't think she could impress me more, she stunned me with Reyna and Beckham!

Blood Type is the first book in a new trilogy. It's a new twist on the age old tale of vampires and humans. While this story held everything I was looking for a in a great paranormal romance, it had so much more depth to it!

Reyna was a headstrong, fierce and independent woman. She wanted only what was best for her family which led her right to Beckham's door step. Beckham, you guys, he was delicious. He was mysterious and broody and he had this magnetic charm that drew Reyna right in.

This book was everything I didn't know I was looking for. I can't wait to delve deeper into the story of Reyna and Beckham! So well done!

Blood Type is by far one of the best dystopian/paranormal romance books I've ever read. The story of Reyna and Beckham just drew me in like no other. I loved the kind of suspense that kept me on edge, always wanting to know more and to get answers. Their story is passionate, heartbreaking, dangerous and thrilling.

"Are you so ready to give your blood to me, Little One?"

I totally fell in love with Beckham, he's just so mysterious and sexy and I loved how he made me question everything that's about to happen. He's unpredictable. And Reyna, she's just sweet, passionate and even adventurous.

I have to admit, I haven't read a vampire book in a long time, so I wasn't sure if I was still intrigued by it and would love the story that much but OHMYGOD!!! This book is just everything! I loved it. It doesn't matter if you're a fan of vampire books or not because this book is so much more! Don't let the fact that that it's PNR stop you from reading this amazing story!
Actually for me the story even felt more like a dystopian story than paranormal, with the only addition that there are vampires in it. Altogether it's just a great story about two "classes", vampire and humans, rich and poor, good and bad.

The whole story is just utterly beautiful. There is so much in this book I didn't expect, but in a good way. It's adventurous and thrilling, heartfelt and passionate. I loved every second of it and I am so glad I took a chance at this paranormal/dystopian vampire romance. I am just totally in love with Beckham and Reyna and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

It’s been days since I’ve finished this book and I can’t stop thinking about it. Blood Type is one of those books that will consume you. It’s completely addicting, fast paced, and after finishing all I can think is I WANT MORE and I want it NOW!

Reyna Carpenter lives in a world different than ours. In her world, vampires rule and humans are living in poverty, barley making ends to meet. To survive, Reyna decides to become a blood escort. She’s in for way more than she bargained for when she meets Beckham Anderson. Beck’s is a powerful vampire, and this is turning to be nothing like she expected.

Reyna is a fantastic heroine. I love that she did what she needed to do, and was strong and independent. Then there is Becks. I loved to hate him and hated to love him, but by the end I was utterly captivated by him. I need more Becks and Reyna. I am so happy the wait for the next book isn’t long.

K.A. Linde blew me away with this book. This is one of the best PNR books I’ve ever read and some of her best work to date in my opinion. I am not the biggest paranormal fan, but I absolutely loved this all consuming, angsty, unpredictable, and original read! I’m obsessed and can’t wait for more!

3 1/2 stars

Ok read, lots of vampire book comparisons. Twilight elements with tremendous restraint, sweet smelling blood, forbidden love, evil vamps, and“good” vamps. Other parts were original with vampires taking over the world and being duplicit with humans. Now I did read till it was done because there was a twist at the end.

It was interesting and I am wanting to read the next one to see what is going to happen. Received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
