A lengthy and enjoyable read. I found myself mostly enjoying this boxed set. It's a clean, historical based story with interesting characters.

Nell Lillington finds herself pregnant by a cousin she was flirting with & does not want to marry. Her step-father sends her to the poor farm to have the baby & give it up for adoption. She is only 16 and her intention is to do that but but when it comes time she cannot give Sarah up. It is the 1870s in the Mid-west and she is unmarried with a baby so what to do. Her childhood friend, Martin Rutherford offers to marry her but she turns him down. Nell has befriended a girl who is with her and learns to sew from Nell. She wants to help Tess as well as take care of Sarah. The story goes on about their life in Kansas and the part Marin plays in their future. It is a very interesting series from start to finish.
