I really liked this little book. It's a great introduction to the story of Noah's Ark. The illustrations are bright and colourful, the story is clear (and in rhyming couplets). The 'ABC prayer' at the end seems a little intense for small children (admit you're a sinner, believe in Jesus, commit to God), but the rest of the book would work well in early classrooms.

Five stars for a book of this genre - a pre-K/early reader, simple, picture book about Noah and the ark. Whimsical, cartoon-style, colorful illustrations accompany the rhyming text of the familiar Bible story. The rhymes work well. However, young children may need help understanding the words “massive” or “mock.”

This was a really fun, rhyming look at Noah and the ark. The illustrations were excellent and the younger kids that this is geared towards will love them! There was even a line helping kids apply what Noah did to their lives today. Sometimes I think that can be hard for kids these days. My three year old really enjoyed it!

The Big Flood: The Story of Noah and the Ark by Paul Gully is a wonderful new look at the story of Noah and the Ark. The illustrations are well done, very fun to look at and would definitely appeal to youngsters. The text is rhyming and easy to understand, just right for little ones to enjoy. This is a well adapted Bible story.

The story teaches young kids about the unshakeable faith that Noah portrays when God asks him to build an ark and then take care of all the animals on board. He alerts Noah to the fact that He is sending a huge rainstorm that will result in the flooding of the entire earth and He warns Noah that all the non-believers will perish if they refuse to come onto the ark which will be a safe haven for them.

I received an ARC from Broadstreet Publishing Group LLC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is very kid-friendly featuring whimsical, vibrant, crisp illustrations and a story told in perfect rhyme.

The author takes an age-old story and refreshes it to appeal to the 21st century, modern child. The original story is found in the Bible and the engaging story references Genesis 6-9.

Oh my!

Noah, his wife, and his three sons obey the Lord's command and immediately begin building. As they construct this vast monstrosity of a boat the people around them continue to laugh and to mock the family. They think Noah has gone completely mad. They have never even seen rain before, forget an impending flood. How preposterous they cry!!! Crazy old man!!

Noah tries to do God's will and convince the heckling crowd that indeed this prophecy will come to pass, but they will not listen. He finally completes the ark, loads the animals on two by two, (that God calls forth) but still the stubborn people refuse to enter inside. God himself shuts up the door of the ark sealing it from an horrendous, turbulent storm that lasts forty long days and forty long nights.

Unfortunately all the unbelievers left behind perish leaving only Noah, his family, and the rescued animals to survive. When the storm ceases Noah sends a dove to confirm that all is safe on the outside which allows everyone on board to disembark onto dry land.

God gives the survivors a special sign in the sky as his promise that He never again will destroy the inhabitance of earth with a flood. Can you guess what that sign is?

I liked the rhymes in “The Big Flood.” This will be a good addition to the children’s section of a church library.

This is another title I really enjoyed. This was a simple telling of Noah and the flood and readily accessible to young children. The illustrations were great featuring expressive faces. The rhyming pattern is enjoyable to toddlers as well as older elementary age children. I would recommend this title to those wanting to share bible stories with their young readers.

Great way to tell a classic and spiritual story of Noah and the Ark. The graphics are wonderfully done and lend very well with the story. The rhyming makes it fun too for the reader. Perfect for families and Bible classes too.

It's a cute way to present the tale but some rhymes seemed a bit forced at the expense of the tale. I feel like it needed to be edited a bit more.

The Big Flood teaches the story of Noah and his ark based on the scriptures of Genesis. I loved the images in this book which were bold, colourful, and clear, and the rhyming couplets made the story fun to read. It summarises the story of Noah very well, and is a great read for youngsters.

Adorable book- well paced and the illustrations accurately depicted what was going on, so even nonreaders could follow it.

I don’t read and review many children’s books as I have no children and feel I can’t give a proper review on them; but these two children books are from the Bible and you can’t go wrong with it. This one review is for both A Giant Headache and The Big Flood. They are both written by Paul Gulley and illustrated by Delores Gully, a husband/wife team.

The beginning of each story mentions the book and verses of the Bible the story is from. The sentences are short and rhyme, which makes the books fun. The stories are written where young children can understand what is going on.

The illustrations are bright and colorful with attention to detail. They will definitely appeal to children.
A Giant Headache also shows children how David stood up for what he believes and facing adversity. Headache can also be used as a lesson against bullying.

The Big Flood also shows children to listen to God despite the unknown (what is rain?)and to work together. And God will take care of you and never leave you and to trust in Him.

Both books end with a Salvation page where children can learn the ABC prayer and mentions John 3:16 for accepting Christ and begin their walk with God.

These books will serve as a great outreach and introduction to some of the Bible stories for young children.

Special thanks to the publisher Broadstreet Publishing Group for granting me copies of both books via NetGalley.

A wonderful new look at the story of Noah and the Ark. The illustrations are well done, very fun to look at and would definitely appeal to youngsters. The text is rhyming and easy to understand, just right for little ones to enjoy. This is a well adapted Bible story. I actually learned a few new facts from this story such as it took 50 years to build the ark. Besides trusting God, the story also shows perseverance and working together. This is one I will add to the list of books for my grandson as well as our church and Sunday school library. The publisher generously provided me a copy of this book via Netgalley.
