This is a fun rhyming picture book about David and Goliath with expressive (think giant who is sticking his tongue out) and bold illustrations that children will love. It will not take long for our young ones to learn the words by hard and tell the story to you instead.

I love rhyming books and have bought many for the church library. Will consider getting this one too.

A sound introduction to David and Goliath for young children. It is from the same author as 'The Big Flood' and has the same rhyming couplet style and beautiful illustrations, but I did prefer 'The Big Flood'. This one may require some background from parents (etc) to situate the story and explain some sections.

My three year old loved this book. The illustrations are really vibrant and match the rhyming story of David and Goliath perfectly! This would definitely be an excellent addition to any church library. Quick and easy read for adults and fun even for those repeat reads our kids have us doing! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this title!

I love this book. The illustrations are truly amazing and the text, written in fine rhyme, is a winner.

The author takes a classic story from the Bible, 1 Samuel 17, the story of David vs Goliath, and weaves it into a spell-binding tale that kids will easily understand and enjoy. He makes it so fun and engaging! This age-old story is creatively spun to a brand-new generation and is magical to listen to or for a child to read on his own.

The bold, kid-friendly and playful illustrations will have kids giggling I'm sure and they will visually imprint the story into their minds and hearts as this story is told once again in a refreshing way.

The story teaches kids about courage and God's willingness to provide strength and victory. He uses David, a mere youth, to mightily defeat a ten foot-tall warrior Giant named Goliath. How does David accomplish this impossible feat? He trusts in God completely to enable him to conquer this menacing foe of Israel. David takes his sling, five smooth stones and does the possible while God has his back and performs the impossible. Together they kill that taunting, cruel, mocking giant and David stands triumphant over the fallen giant.

David, a boy after God's own heart, definitely knows the true meaning of the scripture: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. - Phillippians 4:13. And he did!!! I highly recommend this wonderful book.

I don’t read and review many children’s books as I have no children and feel I can’t give a proper review on them; but these two children books are from the Bible and you can’t go wrong with it. This one review is for both A Giant Headache and The Big Flood. They are both written by Paul Gulley and illustrated by Delores Gully, a husband/wife team.

The beginning of each story mentions the book and verses of the Bible the story is from. The sentences are short and rhyme, which makes the books fun. The stories are written where young children can understand what is going on.

The illustrations are bright and colorful with attention to detail. They will definitely appeal to children.
A Giant Headache also shows children how David stood up for what he believes and facing adversity. Headache can also be used as a lesson against bullying.

The Big Flood also shows children to listen to God despite the unknown (what is rain?)and to work together. And God will take care of you and never leave you and to trust in Him.

Both books end with a Salvation page where children can learn the ABC prayer and mentions John 3:16 for accepting Christ and begin their walk with God.

These books will serve as a great outreach and introduction to some of the Bible stories for young children.
Special thanks to the publisher Broadstreet Publishing Group for granting me copies of both books via NetGalley.

A wonderful new look at the story of David and Goliath. The illustrations are well done, very fun to look at and would definitely appeal to youngsters. The text is rhyming and easy to understand, just right for little ones to enjoy. This is a well adapted Bible story. Whether you are a Christian or not, this story can still be enjoyed showing how David stood up for his beliefs and how he faced adversity. This is one I will add to the list of books for my grandson as well as our church and Sunday school library. The publisher generously provided me a copy of this book via Netgalley.
