Can I just say,I loved this book! A lot of books are good, some books are great, this one really stood out.It intrigued me from beginning to end.I am hard pressed to explain just why I love this book..Maybe It is Millie's heart,so willing to help the Drexel family even after they treated her so badly.Or the slowly changing relationship between Florence Drexel and herself from one of animosity to that of an almost "Mother" figure.Or perhaps It is her finally receiving the love and respect she so deserves from the Drexel family.

Millie is the poor daughter of a fisherman. The very wealthy Drexel family spend their Summer's in Nantucket where Millie grows up .Millie becomes friends with the Drexels son Stephen. As they grow they form an attachment and plan to elope. On the night of their elopement Stephen does not meet Millie, rather his older brother John who tells Millie she is not for Stephen and persuades her to leave Stephen alone.Millie is heartbroken but leaves Nantucket pursuing a career as a nurse.Six years later John shows up in Glenwood Springs Colorado where Millie is nursing. He is seeking a nurse for his very Ill mother who finds Millie inferior to her in every way and speaks her mind often. She is also expected to care for Stephens wife who is expecting. Will Millie be willing to help Stephens family ? Will she forgive the Drexel family who hurt her so badly?

Loved this story! The title says "Millie's Resolve" but I think it is just as much John's story too.
The responsibility of being in charge of his family, (mother, brother his brother's wife and children) always putting their needs above his own.
"Where the past and present collide and a woman is on the precipice of unexpected love."
I love that line from the description! Such a precipice Millie finds herself on too. Millie is faced with difficult situations as a nurse for Dr. Murphy but they do not compare with the things she must deal with in her new position as the private nurse to Katherine Drexel (a horrible, snooty woman who thinks Millie not good enough for her family).
Millie leans on her faith during her many trials, occasionally needing reminders she is not alone.

There is more than one heart that belongs in Glenwood Springs. I recommend reading this book to find out who those hearts belong to.

I love historical fiction, and I’m enjoying the My Heart Belongs series. The books are set in various U.S. cities, and written by diverse authors with unique styles and themes.

My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado: Millie’s Resolve took me to a beautiful mountain town in the late 1880s, where I walked in Millie’s shoes and survived the myriad of emotions she put me through.

This is a quick read, like the other books in the series, with short chapters, wonderful scenery, and an important spiritual message. The characters are interesting and the romance follows a tangled, yet satisfying path.

If you enjoy historical fiction with a strong spiritual thread, this book (and series) is a fun and meaningful choice.

This was a super cute read! It put me in a mind of one of my all-time favorite movies Sabrina. It has a similar storyline which made Millie and John's story irresistible to me. The ending was phenomenal and had one of the best scenes I have read lately and the way some of the other ends were tied up was perfect. This book has great characters, humorous scenes and I adored it. Definitely one for my keeper shelf!

Journey now to healing spa town of Glenwood Springs, Colorado in 1888

Where the past and present collide and a woman is on the precipice of unexpected love.

Millie Cooper, fisherman’s-daughter-turned-nurse, flees a painful entanglement with the wealthy Drexel family who summered near her childhood home in Nantucket, only to encounter them again six years later in Glenwood Springs. The serenity of her mountain hideaway in a town with healing springs is disrupted when she faces caring for the elderly mother and the expectant wife of Stephen Drexel, the man she’d once loved—at the request of his brother John, the man who’d kept them apart. Will Millie forgive the wrongs she feels were done to her, or will she come to see them as a blessing in disguise that leads her to greater joys?

My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado: Millie's Resolve by [Jepson, Rebecca]my thoughts....

Millie Cooper, the heroine in this book was the beautiful young woman who raised herself up from poor circumstances to become a gifted nurse in Colorado. Her dedication to duty was to a fault and made it difficult to turn her back on the Drexel family in their time of need. She put aside decades old hurt to give the best possible care to Mrs. Drexel who often took the opportunity to remind Millie of her lowly upbringing. She took such care for the wife of the man who left her behind and took the brunt of all in the household when her methods didn't' seem to suit them. Still, she persisted and practiced her nursing skills while burying her feelings inside a heart she longed to quiet forever.

It is through time and duty that she discovered her true purpose in life. As with many of us, she learned over years of experience how what we think we wanted in our youth may not have been the best path to follow. God has a way of showing us, whether through a perilous illness to, seeing, finally, what lays before us and giving us a chance to make the best choice. His choices are our best choices and while we don't always see that, things often present themselves to us as though we should have known all along.

I enjoyed reading about Millie Cooper and her courageous way of facing such a challenging path. She is a champion for those who dream of a better life even when there are those who would keep you down on your luck. This book is for those who seek encouragement to keep their faith for the good things to come.

The My Heart Belongs series is unique because each book is written by a different author. This is my third venture into the series and the books are not written in cookie cutter fashion. Rebecca Jepson developed believable characters set in the backdrop of the beautiful red rocks of Colorado.

I have a new favorite in the My Heart Belongs Series. I adored this book and the characters within. This one was a little bit heavier with the Christian elements than some of the others but it didn't bother me. I enjoyed it. I did want to let people know that because not every reader likes that in their books. This book was definitely a story of sorrow, healing, putting aside hurt and angry and seeking for God's love and forgiveness to heal hearts. Very well written and I loved the characters.

Millie has found peace and purpose in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She has no family left and moved West with a doctor and his daughter, who is Millie's age. He has been a great tutor in helping her learn medicine and becoming a very competent nurse. Millie loves her life, there is lingering heartache from her past, but she feels she has found peace. That is until the day she hears HIS voice. What are the chances? The man who ruined her life. The man who came between her and marrying the man she loved, Stephen Drexel. Who is this man? John Drexel, Stephen's brother.

Millie finds herself immersed once again in the Drexel family's lives. This time, not as the fisherman's daughter but as their nurse. Can she put aside the pain of the past, the pain of the present and the belittling to provide the best care that she prides herself on giving?

Millie is a saint. I loved her character. I loved watching her inner struggles and dilemmas. She wanted to move past her past pain, especially since she was caring for the matriarch, Mrs. Drexel, and the pregnant wife of Stephen Drexel. Talk about having pain flaunted in your face, all that could have been yours. I enjoyed reading about her nursing the patients, but also her gentleness and kindness when she could have chosen to be bitter and unkind in return. Or flat out refuse to offer any help at all.

There is a sweet love story written in and I must say that I loved the moments of realization and watching Millie when information came to light. Her perceptions and misperceptions all becoming clear. Allowing for more healing. The Drexel family has much pain and sorrow awaiting them and the question is, will they also do what is right for the sake of doing what is right? Or will they try to right past wrongs for the sake of righting a wrong that may not be a wrong? I'll let you ponder on that spun around question. I had a very happy and contented smile on my face when I finished the book. I didn't want it to end. Yet, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I wanted more when it did end.

I loved the healing and redemption written into this story. I loved how the author showed struggle and desire to do good, even at the cost of pain for different characters. This is one book that I highly recommend in this series to be read. If you were going to pick just one, this would be the one I would urge you to read. Now, that being said, I have enjoyed this series and the individual books. I've got the next one waiting for me to be read and I'm counting down the days for release.

Content: Clean. Christian aspects, not preachy but a few more moments of the author having the characters turn to God and allow for His guidance and love to help them in their lives than previous books in the series (if you've read the books). I didn't feel it was over the top, I felt it showed the characters very well and would be how the characters are in this time period.

I received a copy from the publisher, Barbour Publishing, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado is part of an 11 book series that each feature a historic location and is set sometime during the 1770s and 1940. This book by Rebecca Jepson is set in the 1880s and takes the reader from Nantucket and Philadelphia in the East to the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Having read all the previous in the series, I knew a little what to expect and was not disappointed in this one. Beautiful descriptive scenes, strong characters (sweet friends, condescending mother, handsome men, rascally children) and of course, a romance fraught with tension, all kept my attention. Throughout the book, there is a strong thread of faith seen as the characters each work their way through personal issues. The past meets the present in this story and old resentments and new accusations just may keep true love from coming to pass. I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the next one in the series.

“I will be with you, your troubles to bless.”

I’m still befuddled, my heart still racing and my emotions still raw from this story so forgive me if my review makes little sense! It packs a punch that leaves you wanting more of these characters even though it has a very satisfying, if not nail biting ending. Seriously, you’ll be on the edge of your seat like I was in more than a few scenes. Without giving much of anything away, it’s so hard to form a coherent review that still makes the reader long for it; as if they simply can’t live without reading this for themselves!

Millie, what can I say but I love her! Coming into her own after a heartbreak six years ago; from a lowly fisherman’s daughter to respected nurse. Fleeing her past life to start over must have taken great bravery & determination. She’s caring and has a natural knack for making her patients feel at ease, even in the midst of their suffering. I don’t think there’s a stranger she’s met yet, or they wouldn’t be for long after meeting her. But as it happens in some stories, the past catches up to her in human form and she either meets it head-on or shrinks back to the mousy young woman she was.

Ah yes, the older brother John! The one that stole what could have been her happily-ever-after with younger brother Stephen. He feels the weight of responsibility on his shoulders after their father died years ago. Making decisions that best suited the family in spite of great pain he inflicted on the young lovers. If it weren’t for his mother’s failing health and the concern for Stephens’s pregnant wife, he would have never sought out or asked for Millie’s help. As for Stephen, well, he has his hands full with his young family and many regrets about the past. Since I don’t wish to spoil it for other readers, that’s all I will say about the story.

Past meets present; cue the tension, conflict and drama as these three lives collide under vastly different circumstances! This has a depth that I didn’t see coming and stole my breath at times. I was so invested that the world around me disappeared. Did someone say romance…oh my…I needed my fainting couch & smelling salts or at the very least a fan blasting ice cold in my face! I was a puddle melted on the floor. What clinched this for me was the strong faith thread. It comes naturally and in all the right places without being overbearing or as some would say, preachy. The characters struggled with their faith in very real ways that we might find our own selves doing. I can’t recommend this enough; I didn’t want it to end! I felt like the author could have made it longer if she wanted to and it still would have not been long enough for me. That’s how good this is!

This book is written by a new to me author and I am blown away. This is everything I love in an historical romance. Oh the feels! The romance! The twist! Swoon worthy hero and loveable heroine make this a page turning book. This story made me think of the movie Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn at the beginning, but it wasn't a retelling of that movie at all. It just had a few similarities. So, I knew this was gonna be an amazing read. And it was. I loved it and I want to read more by this talented writer.

I've heard authors say that some books write themselves. As a reader, I have said that some books read themselves. That's the case with this book. I started reading this book with the intention of just reading a chapter or so to "get into" the story and soon found I was halfway through the book in just one sitting! Warm, realistic characters in a story that was both heartwrenching and heart-stopping made this book easy to read.

While some aspects of the story sounded familiar to other romances I've read the author totally made this story her own. I loved her writing and the way that the shift in the relationship between Millie and Katherine happened in a way that was so subtle that I can't pinpoint the exact spot it took place. It's just so natural and suddenly you realize that things have changed between the two. I also liked the way she kept me wondering exactly what was going to happen. I knew the ending I wanted to the story but she kept me guessing as to whether I was going to get it or not. I loved the complexity of the relationships between the characters. It made the story seem so real. The pace of the story is great and kept me turning pages as quickly as I could.

The author has created some really well-developed characters in this book. Some I liked more than others. Millie, I liked instantly while it took some time to warm up to John and Katherine Drexel. I'm still not sure if I really liked Stephen or not but that's ok. He's not a bad character, just not my favorite.

This is a book that will definitely be added to my keeper shelf. I can easily see myself rereading this book because the story is just so good and the writing is excellent. This is Rebecca Jepson's debut novel so I can't go looking for more to read from her but I will be adding her to my "must-read author" list. I'm hoping there will soon be more to read from her!

I am loving this “My Heart Belongs” series by Barbour Books. This well written Christian historical romance by Rebecca Jepson did not disappoint. The story takes place in the late 1800's, in a small town of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Our leading lady, Millie Cooper has gone from being the poor fisherman's daughter to a well respected nurse. Millie has had to recover from having her heart broken at the age of 18. That night she went to the prearranged spot to meet her intended Steve. His older brother John Drexel was there instead. The Drexel family was a wealthy family she had played with every summer. They had a vacation home near her and her father's in Nantucket. As children growing up together the differences didn't matter. But as young adults falling in love and marrying the wrong kind of people, just was not done. John was there to explain this to her and to break off the engagement for his brother.

Millie thought she had moved on from this horrible nightmare experience, never expecting to see the Drexels again. Six years later at the doctors office where she works, she hears a familiar voice talking to the doctor in the next room. John Drexel is there to acquire a nurse for his elderly ailing mother and his sister-in-law, who is expecting. Which would be Steven her betroths wife. Has Millie gotten past the heartache this family has caused her? And can she find healing, hope and a new beginning?

Rebecca Jepson has a way of taking you on an unforgettable journey back to a picturesque town of healing springs in a mountain hideaway. I loved the way this author was able to draw hope out of the darkness. I enjoyed this novel by Rebecca Jepson and would recommend it. I received a copy of this book from Barbour Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Another delightful book in the My Heart Belongs series. I have truly enjoyed each and every one I’ve read so far. This one takes us to Colorado in the late 1880’s. We join Millie, who is a nurse and is asked to nurse John Drexel’s mother and also care for John’s sister in law as needed. John Drexel is the older brother of her first and only love, Stephen. Despite misgivings she can’t turn away someone who needs her skills, so she reluctantly accepts the position. Join in this delightful story as we learn more about this family and Millie, as well as some great character additions like Dr Murphy, Ann, Florence and a few others. Love the descriptions of the area and everything was wrapped up nicely by the end of the book.

I truly enjoyed this novel from a new-to-me author. Rebecca Jepson was able to portray such wonderful characters and promote such lovely scenery. I experienced many emotions from angst to love and more. The characters are well developed and the writing is extremely well done. I would read another book by this author.

Millie Cooper's character is strong and warm, but she can be easily upset at times, which shows how human she really is. After being jilted by her fiance, Stephen Drexel, or rather his brother John, Millie moves from Nantucket to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, to be a nurse. There she comes across John Drexel, whom she hasn't seen since that fateful night he told her Stephen wasn't going to be marrying her. He is there to give her a job as his ailing mother's nurse, since they have all moved there for her health. Millie reluctantly agrees to be Mrs. Drexel's nurse, much as she dislikes the woman.

What takes place is a coming of age and learning that there is more to a person than their standing in society. Who learns this valuable lesson? What happens between Millie and Stephen when they meet again after seven years apart? What of John? Check out this amazing book and you will find the answers to these questions. Enjoy!

An engaging romance. I enjoyed the characters especially Katherine who makes you want to not like her. I liked how the story was based on young love and secrets.. This book has many twist and turns drawing the reader in to the romance and family secrets. A great read!

This latest instalment in the My Heart Belong Series follows the life of Millie Cooper, a fisherman's daughter turned nurse/ midwife under the supervision of Dr.Murphy in the quaint town of Glenwood Springs in Colorado. She feels like she finally has her life together until John Drexel, from her past, shows up requiring nursing services for his mother and his pregnant sister-in-law. Millie has to decide whether to be led by her heart or by her profession since she was forced to disengage from an entanglement with the wealthy Drexel family when she fled Nantucket six years ago.

Similar to other books in this series, I was delighted to find a charming love story in the midst of the class struggles among the characters. Readers will sympathise with Millie's situation because no one would wish this kind of a predicament on their worst enemy.

Jepson's gentle tone which will keep readers engaged and possibly finish this book with a seating or two. This book does have heavy Christian undertones but the author does a fine job of addressing the characters' unique situation by portraying them as flawed humans willing to make amends without sacrificing them on the altar of cheesiness.

If you are heading to the beach or for vacation, this along with the other books that I have reviewed in this series would be a great beach read or for those cosy rest days away from the cares of the world. Millie's Resolve would also be a great palate cleanser for anyone who is in-between "heavy reads".

My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs Colorado by Rebecca Jepson is an engaging story of hope, forgiveness and love.
Millie Cooper has moved to Colorado from Nantucket for a fresh start. She has trained as nurse under Dr. Murphy. One day while cleaning the office she hears a familiar voice from the past, John Drexel, the rich man who owns the large home outside of town along. He is needing a live-in nurse to care for his mother who has severe asthma. He is also the man who derailed Millie’s marriage to his brother, Stephen, and broke her heart. Millie agrees to care for his mother and she soon learns Stephen’s pregnant wife. Will the family still see her as just the poor fisherman’s daughter? Will she find a new love while working for the Drexel’s?
I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down until finished. Millie is such a patient character and puts up with a lot but keeps her faith and goes on. John is very conflicted and hides his feelings, sometimes even from himself. He had to grow up fast and take over the family enterprises and manage the household when his father died. The patient, Katherine, is less than pleased with her new nurse who she sees as being beneath the family. Her condition does improve with the care of Millie but will her heart soften? I give this book 5 of 5 stars. It is well-written and the characters are so realistic they practically jump off the page.
I received an advance copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This is another good entry into the “My Heart Belongs in...” series by Barbour Publishing. I so enjoyed the character of Millie. She was strong, courageous, and caring, She did not let her worries and fears keep her from doing the right thing even when she herself was treated unkindly. I loved the storyline. I had a favorite between the two brothers, and was happy with the conclusion of the story.

This is a sweet, clean romance with no bad language or embarrassing scenes. Just the right length for a nice, lovely book to read when you want something lighter and uplifting.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion of the book.
