This one was another absorbing installment in the Golden Gate series about 1906 San Francisco. Judith, one of the three friends the series features, is hoping to get answers about a mysterious note left to her by her mother about a sister she had never before mentioned. While searching for her aunt, Judith is living with her friends. When she finds her extended family, it comes with shocking revelations about her past and raises more questions than answers.

I really enjoyed getting to know the characters better, although I really wanted more of both of them, especially Caleb. This book should have been at least 400 pages. :)

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.

This is the second book in a series. I requested this story from Netgalley and sat down to start reading it, I then realized it was book #2 and went looking for book #1. The whole series is on Kindle Unlimited, so I borrowed the first book before starting this one. You could probably read them out of order, but I wouldn't recommend it.

The series focuses on three friends who traveled to San Francisco together. They immediately bond and help each other through all kinds of trials and heartache. This book is Judith's story. She came looking for the family that she didn't know she had until her mother's passing. This book has so many ups and downs (kind of like the streets in San Francisco). Judith faces some emotional and physical trials when she finds her family. It was far different than she expected it to be. Her friends were there to rally around her, giving her support and advice when needed. Not only does Judith find her family, but she finds someone to love. It was very heartwarming.

I found the ending to be particularly interesting. It is set during the huge earthquake in the early 1900s. I could almost imagine myself in the turmoil and see the destruction of the city.

I am now hooked in this series and must read Kenzie's story in In Times Gone By. I am so happy that it is also on Kindle Unlimited!

A Book Review of "In Dreams Forgotten" by Tracie Peterson
Golden Gate Secrets-Book 2

After reading this book and the first book in this Golden Gate Secrets series "In Places Hidden", I feel I personally know the characters in these books and I can't wait to read book 3 in this series!

This was a book of not only sweet romance, but its historical focus was on San Francisco in the 1900's. It always amazes me how differently social life was in those days, yet, people were not so much different than now in many ways. The story continues where book 1 ended with pretty much the same characters, however this book focuses on Judith primarily, who came to San Francisco hoping to find an Aunt and family she never knew she had until it was revealed in a letter she found after her mother passed away. Raised alone, as an only child, on a ranch in the middle of nowhere with only her mother and father as company, being told her whole life that she had no relatives, Judith is both anxious and fearful to begin the search and is in hopes to connect with a family she always dreamed of having. Camri, Kelsey, Caleb and Patrick are also very much intwined in the story. If you have not yet to read book 1 I would highly recommend reading it before reading this book as it really sets the stage for a lot that happens in this story.

Not only is there romance in this story there is also mystery, crime, corruption, intrique, greed, natural disasters, and various twists, turns and surprising events. Through it all one can see God's providence and protection in how He guides and protects the characters who are devoted to him.

This was a page turner for sure from the beginning and I was in suspense until the very end. I throughly enjoyed reading this book and anticipate that book 3, which I think will be mainly about Kelsey, will be just as interesting as these this book and book 1 have been.

I received a free copy of this book from Bethany House via Net Galley but I was not required to write a postive review. All thoughts are my own.

This book has everything you’ve come to expect from a Tracie Peterson book: It’s exciting, suspenseful, and romantic. This second book in this series is just as good as the first. I have loved this family of characters, and Judith, the main character in this book, has been my favorite. As she faced many challenges, she found that Caleb was the hero that she needed. These two books have had a great storyline, and and I’m looking forward to the next book. There’s a strong emphasis in trusting God that goes all through the story, and makes this a terrific faith-based historical novel.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

In Dreams Forgotten is the second installment from Tracie Peterson’s series, Golden Gate Secrets. I thought this book was a great read. I enjoyed the sweet, clean romance with the little mystery and suspense. I, also, enjoyed learning history about San Francisco, California.

I give In Dreams Forgotten four and a half stars. I look forward to continuing the Golden Gate Secrets series.

I highly recommend for readers who love to read a hard to put down historical.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

In Dreams Forgotten by Tracie Peterson – 4 Stars
There is not too much more I can add beyond the description of the book. It provides the story line of the book. Tracie Peterson’s books are full of quotes from the Bible and are always clean if they tell the story of a romance. This book did have a back story that had characters that were well written and the story was full of romance, and mystery. I gave this book 4 stars. I really liked the book but it wasn’t one that I couldn’t put down. I did of course want to finish the story, I read a little bit each evening before sleep. I had some similar feelings as those the character had as she went to find family members who she didn’t know exist till later in life which happened me also. I found my biological Father at age 26 and you never know what you are going to walk into when you contact family who either didn’t know you existed or perhaps didn’t want to find you. It’s always a gamble. My story came out happily I can’t tell you her story as you have to read the book to find out for yourself!
I received this book from NetGalley.com and Random House in the hopes that I would provide an honest review which I am doing now. I love Tracie Peterson’s books!

Second book in the Golden Gate series, set in the early 1900s San Francisco. A time of corruption and danger for those going against the men in control of crime in the city. Judith had come to town with Camri and Kenzie, nearly broke and having lost her family with the hope of finding an Aunt she had never known about. After a long search what she found was nothing she could have imagined, and puts her life in danger. Caleb has returned after being shanghaied and is rebuilding his life. The five journey together supporting each other as they get busy with their lives and early women's rights. Wonderful message of salvation. This is a fantastic series for close relationships between friends. Not all families are close, especially when money is involved.

Quote: It was a good reminder that earthly treasures weren’t meant for eternity.

Judith went to San Francisco to follow the trail of a letter from her deceased mother to her mom's sister, whom Judith has never met. Finding the family doesn't seem to be a problem. Adjusting to the family, though, proves to be almost deadly. Nob Hill families have some skeletons in the closet.
Characters from book #1 of the series reappear in Judith's story, so the reader has continuity of the 6 young adults. I enjoyed the story because I was familiar with the characters. I did not love it, though.

I enjoyed every moment of this book. Peterson kept taking me totally by surprise. There was no way I could guess what was going to happen next, and that is the best kind of story. Set in the early 1900’s in San Francisco times were much different than they are today. Like most cities there were those who were upper class wealthy and those who worked hard for a living. In Dreams Forgotten we continue to follow Camrianne, Judith, and Kenzie as they work together to find what brought each of them to San Francisco in the first place. In the first book, In Places Hidden, Camri is searching for her brother who went missing. If you haven’t read that book I suggest you do, in fact, you might as well just get all three in the series. You can also read this as a stand alone, but I really enjoyed the others as well. This story focuses on Judith and her quest to find her Aunt. All she has is a letter from her deceased mother with a name and city, but she’s hoping that’s enough.

Caleb Coulter is just the man to get the job done, the question is will he help her? Being a lawyer keeps him busy, and Judith doesn’t want to seem selfish, but she also wants to find the only family she has left. In a series on unexpected twists and turns it may just be more than she bargained for. Someone wants her out of the picture, and her friends only want her to be safe and happy. Can everyone agree? Or will circumstances out of their control force their hands?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. You will find yourself turning the pages and holding your breath to find out what happens next. I enjoyed getting to know the characters, and seeing them grow throughout their struggles. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!! The dream is Judith's dream for a family. The parents who raised her have passed away and she wants to find the remainder of her family if at all possible.

The year is 1906. The Place is San Francisco. The overarching event is a massive earthquake that devastates the entire city. The characters are continuing the story begun in Hidden Places (reviewed here).

In Hidden Places, Camrianne Coulter falls in love with Patrick Murdock. Now the girls are trying to get Caleb to notice Judith, because she fell in love with him at first sight.

Not many characters have changed, a few new ones have been temporarily added. Caleb is still fighting corruption, Patrick still wants his business back, Judith still wants to find her family remnants, and Kenzie wants to just lick her wounds.

Tracie Peterson still has a masterful touch in bringing these characters to life and giving a glimpse into the world of San Francisco in 1906. In Dreams Forgotten, Tracie shows that not all dreams need to be forgotten, but God may have a different dream for you.

This is a five star book, two thumbs up, and a dream come true.

My thanks to Bethany House for allowing me to read and review this book. The galley I read was supplied through NetGalley.com.

This is the second book in the series. This book focuses mainly on Judith. Judith is looking for her aunt but finds something quite unexpected.

The copy I read was an advanced reader copy. The editing was well done with a few errors that will probably be corrected in the completed version. This review is done on my own, no strings attached.

The story flowed well, it gave a glimpse of San Francisco in that time period but mainly focused on Judith and her friends. The characters were quite well developed and gave life to the book.

The book is in the Christian fiction category but is not preachy at all. I enjoy reading Tracie Peterson books and this one did not disappoint. If you like historical fiction, you will enjoy this book.

This book was very encouraging to me personally as I start trying to dream again out of pain & hurt. This was refreshing and a reminder of God's rich blessing for me. To see how others can dream and trusting God with their lives helps me move on.

Tracie Peterson books are always delightful to read. Detailed, interesting, great plots and characters with depth. This book has all of that and more. Great story set in San Francisco.

This book is part of a series but can be read alone. I had not read the first book but was not left floundering.
Judith learnt of an aunt she never knew existed until her parents death and she has come looking for them. She has also fallen in love with her friend's brother.
Her past however is nothing like she imagined. And her new family aren't all. eager to meet her
The story moves quite quickly and I kept reading and reading until I got to the end.
I did feel there were a lot of plot lines to follow. I suppose it is because of the fact that it is part of a series. Still I enjoyed it.
Thanks to Net galley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this

Judith has come to San Francisco searching for an Aunt that she doesn’t know. Her friend Caleb, who she has loved since she first saw him, is helping her. When she finds her relatives, Judith’s world is turned upside down, and she finds she has to fight for what she wants. But what she wants most is Caleb, but is he interested in more than friendship?

I love Tracie Peterson! And this book is no exception. It is sweet, light, quick, and easy to read. Just the perfect escape during a boring plane ride.

This is the second in the Golden Gate Series. In the first book, Camri was looking for her brother Caleb. And in this book, Judith is trying to find an aunt she didn't know existed until after her parents had died. It's a little hard for m to write too much about this book without giving away any spoilers.

I like Tracie Peterson and her books and this one didn't fail me. It's the fairly typical boy/girl romance, but yet there are some unexpected twists and turns, like how exactly does Judith go from being a poor rancher's daughter to being extremely rich? I just really enjoyed the book and am now looking forward to the next book, which I'm sure should be coming out about Kenzie, the third friend.

One more thing I want to say about this book and about Judith, in particular. Judith was not raised in a Christian home. Yes, they said grace before meals, but that is about all Judith knew in s a spiritual sense. So becoming friends with Christians and then giving her life to Jesus made a huge impact in her life. While she always felt that the emptiness in her heart was because she had no family, she realized that it had more to do with God than family. I was impressed with her level of commitment and desire to follow God's ways.

I received this book on NetGalley and was not required to write a positive review.

Once again Tracie Peterson did not disappoint me. Her writing style is one of my favorites. I enjoy her character development and captivating story. If you like romance with a side of history, this book is for you.

IN DREAMS FORGOTTEN is the second book in the Golden Gate Secrets series by TRACIE PETERSON. It can stand alone, but I recommend that you read the first book in order to get to know the characters.
In this story it is Judith Gladstone's turn to find the aunt who she believes is her last remaining relative. She has been patiently waiting for Caleb Coulter, Camri's brother, who is a lawyer and with whom she is secretly in love, to help her find her aunt. What is uncovered, however, is a huge shock, and leads her to the rich and scary Mrs Whitley and her family.
Judith has the support of her friends, and she also relies strongly on her faith in the Lord to bring her through some very difficult situations.
It is an exciting and suspenseful read and one that I can highly recommend.
I was given a free copy of the book by Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley. The opinions in this review are entirely my own.

This book truly took on a snowball effect. The characters were cool, calm and collected through the beginning of the story. Everyone was happy and loving life after the conclusion of book #1. Except Judith. She quietly let it be known to the reader that she was still in waiting. Waiting to find her family. She did her best to wait on God's timing as well as Caleb's, the lawyer who was to help her connect with Mrs. Witley. Once a connection was made, the happiness of the characters began to unravel, and things started picking up. The family was none too happy (except Mrs. Witley) to see the newest family member.
Ultimately things continued to build and eventually explode. The author not only used circumstances erected by the characters but also natural disasters to bring out the glory of God. It bever gets old to see things work out for Good. The ultimate power of God.
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.
Genesis 50:20 NASB
