This is a great overview of brave women! I love reading about women who did great things in the Bible. This book is well written, interesting, and provides you with many facts that you didn't know before!

I will stop requesting books geared for Christian women because they almost all try to hard to have a friendly tone but come off as patronizing. At least this book doesn't use a plethora of exclamation points as many others in the genre do, but the author does over use italics. There must be an audience for these books, but my patrons and I are not it.

I like the authors choice for the woman in the Bible. Some woman were obviously courageous, but some could be described in other words but courageous. I felt like some of the attributes were a little too much. The women were of great value and could have been described in a lot of words, but i wouldn’t have used courageous, for example the woman from the Son of Songs.
I enjoyed the authors contribution from her personal life and experience!

I am reviewing a copy of Courageous Women of the Bible through Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley:

In Courageous Women of the Bible we are reminded that Courage allows us opportunities we would normally shrink back from and avoid. It is pointed out too that courage allows us to plant our feet towards the path towards obedient living. It is pointed out too that even though we cannot do everything perfectly we can strive to do everything courageously. It is reminded too that Godly Courage is mobilized by an obedient spirit. We become courageous when we realize we are living for a higher cause.

We are reminded too that a willing spilling is what courage demands, it doesn’t demand anything more or less.

Deborah was a woman of real courage, who like you and me faced real life struggles. And she faced real enemies, but she courageously chose to leave behind her fears and follow the path God had for her.

We are reminded too that courage is sometimes messy. The women with the issue of blood had courage when she touched Jesus garment and believed she was healed. We are reminded too that humility requires courage.

We are reminded too that Generosity can require courage too. We are reminded too Giving What You Have, As You Ate Takes courage as well.

Abigail had courage as well. It took her courage to meet David. She had the courage to walk by faith.

Bathsheba was another woman of courage, her situation meant that she had to have the courage to fight the temptation she faced.

Mary Mother Of Jesus had courage as she learned she was pregnant with the Son of God, as she raised that precious child, our Savior.

Mary Magdalene had the courage to follow Jesus, even as enemies and threats became very real. She believed when many did not.

I give Courageous Women of the Bible five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

This is a book specifically geared toward women and written about women of the Bible, both well-known and unknown. I've never heard off LaTan as an author, but I definitely enjoyed this book. Any book about women of the Bible tends to intrigue me because I love learning how faithful the women were to God back then and were used by Him.

The focus of this book is about leaving behind fear and insecurity for a life of confidence and freedom. This books shows that all women struggle no matter how we see ourselves or how much God uses another. We all have our fears, flaws and downfalls, but God can use us for His work and purpose. We are all different, but we are all His daughters. LaTan uses scriptures to back up her points, she gives detailed insight on the women of the Bible. I love it!

This book could be read individually or as a group. There are questions at the end of each chapter to help you further understand and retain what was read. She also includes a separate chapter in which she has space for you to journal about a specific question (or pertaining to the chapter).

The foundation of this book is all about courage and I love it. As a woman of God I need to be courageous, even when I'm afraid. I need to grab hold of Jesus, focus on God, sink in the Word and live fearlessly. Loved this book and definitely recommend it!

Courageous Women of the Bible was a book that I truly enjoyed. I’ve always especially enjoyed studying fellow women in the Bible. Mrs. Murphy does an excellent job of leading the reader on a detailed study of eleven women from the Bible. Some of the women are readily known to even the casual reader of the Bible while others are less known. Mrs. Murphy relates each Bible story to modern experiences of women today. I found myself feeling convicted in certain passages and being tremendously encouraged in others. Each chapter is devoted to one Bible character, and the chapter is closed with discussion questions. The final chapter of the book is devoted to journaling prompts related to each Bible story. I loved this book and highly recommend it to other adult women who are interested in learning more about the Bible.

I received an advance reading copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not obligated to write a positive review.

When I really enjoy a book, I tend to read it pretty quickly. I read “Courageous Women of the Bible” by LaTan Roland Murphy in 3 days! The theme of this book was living our lives with courage because of the mighty God that we serve. Using that theme, Murphy wrote about 11 women from the Bible who displayed extraordinary courage: Deborah, the woman with an issue of blood, the widow with two coins, Jael, Abigail, Bathsheba, The Samaritan Woman, Mary (the mother of Jesus, the Shulammite Woman, Jochebed, and the Shunammite Woman. I particularly liked how she chose some women who were a little more “obscure”, and are not usually a part of the other books that focus on women of the Bible. I did not know as much about the Shunammite Woman, and I appreciated her insight about all of these women. I also liked how there were discussion questions either for a small group or for individual journaling, at the end of each chapter to help the reader go deeper. I would recommend this book if you enjoy reading about women from the Bible and applying their stories to your daily life.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, Bethany House, through Net Galley. All opinions are my own.

I was provided a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I think Courageous Women of the Bible has a specific audience. While I do not fall into that audience, I could appreciate the book. Murphy writes about the need for women to be courageous and uses females from the Bible to back up her points. There are so few women in the Bible and so few stories about those women, so I think it is hard to write a work like this without it getting redundant. I think Murphy did a good job of offering a fresh perspective in this arena.

This is a book every woman should read. I've high-lighted so much in the book the some pages are solid yellow. It is a book you will go back to again and again. At times I felt like the author was writing about what I was going through and how it was affecting me. It was amazing. At the end of each chapter there are discussion questions and a Bible reading. You won't regret buying this book, it will be time and money well spent. A received a free copy from Netgalley, but the review is my own. This book was so good that I ordered it in paperback.

Courageous Women Of The Bible Is a book that is about teaching you lessons on how to be a courageous woman and uses courageous women in The Bible as examples to backup what they are saying. Also in the book they have "courageous questions" for you to get thinking inwardly - is is introspectively authentic. It is an awesome book to read and one you should add to your library.
