I liked this story. I really like the nerdy aspects of the heroine and that she shared that with the heros daughters. Something was a miss with the romantic journey for the mcs but not enough that I didn't enjoy the book.

I was so on board with this premise. A geeky girl who loves cosplay is right up my alley. Add in a single father and forced proximity and you've got the bones for a really great story. While it didn't live up to all my hopes for the romance and overall story, it wasn't a terrible read.

The chemistry fell a bit flat and Carrie was far too dramatic for my tastes. Having kids in stories can be polarizing. In this case the daughter was great for the most part, until she lost her mind regarding the MC's relationship. Allowing children, no matter how old, dictate or tantrum their way between a solid romantic relationship just isn't okay. It's a complicated situation and I felt this story over-simplified and over-dramatized the whole bit.

Even though the chemistry didn't blow me away, their connection was there and gave a good enough foundation for them to build something on once they finally lay everything out in the open for one another. The severe lack of communication was a problem that wonderful confessions and open honesty went a long way to making up for.

First and foremost, I absolutely loved the characters flirtationship, it was funny and cute. But that's just the warm up, the set up, to more sexier banter that turns the heat up. I mean, this is a sports romance afterall. On the line also has some tropes we romance readers love. And when the hero calls the heroine "Darlin" in a charming southern accent. God, the swoons. There was also a lot of football jargon that the author seems to be well-versed about but it wasn't to the point where it dragged and you got lost.

What do you get when you cross a single dad pro football player and a nerdy cosplay, science loving woman? Well, you get a cheeky romance called On The Line by Liz Lincoln. There was so much about this book I loved including their chance meeting, the texting flirtation, the surprise job interview, and the way no matter how hard they tried they couldn’t keep their hands off one another. I loved this light, fun, and sexy story!

Unable to find a job as a science teacher after being let go from her position due to budget cuts Carrie Heron is desperate when she agrees to help out her brother’s college roommate by being his child’s nanny. What Carrie doesn’t know is that the man in question is one she met on accident and has been carrying on a sexy text relationship with for a couple of weeks. Seth Chamberlain can’t believe his luck in meeting a woman who interests him like no other until she appears on his doorstep, his friend’s sister and the woman he needs to hire to watch his 12 year old daughter when he is on the road. Can life be any more complicated?

There was so much I loved about this book first and foremost the fact that Seth was a great dad. Sure he was struggling a bit with a hormonal pre-teen who is not happy with a move across country, but he was trying his best. For the most part Maddie was a sweet girl and her actions were spot on for her age; self centered, overly dramatic, and a bit disrespectful, but you could see the love and admiration between father and daughter. I appreciated that while Seth didn’t really understand his daughter’s fascination with video games and comics, he knew they were important to her and he indulged her even when he sometimes felt like he was buying her affection. I kind of felt sorry for Seth because he was wading into unchartered territory and trying to figure out a girl’s mind and struggling.

I really liked Carrie despite her struggle to find a teaching job, she was pretty upbeat and willing to do what she had to do to make ends meet. I loved that she was thinking outside the box in regards to teaching methods and helping find a way to reach kids who struggled to be engaged. The fact that she was into cosplay, loved comics, and could understand Maggie’s obsession made it easy for her to slip in at her caregiver despite the fact that she and Seth wanted to be more. I admired that they tried very hard to put what they were feeling towards each other on the back burner and be there for Maggie, but it was also no surprise that it got to the point where they could no longer deny what they were feeling.

Whimsical but with plenty of emotion and some hot, sexy times I loved On The Line!

Cute and easy to red romance. I liked how she wasn’t your typical bombshell girl but a girl who knew science and liked comics.

OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

It has a sexy, super-hot football player, Seth, who is a single father to a 12 year old daughter. Think Chris Hemsworth, but with more muscles. He meets Carrie, an out of work science teacher who loves to cosplay as Batman villainess Poison Ivy, when she forgets her wallet at the grocery store and he pays for her groceries then asks her advice on feminine hygiene products for his daughter. There is instant insanely hot chemistry between them as they discuss the pros and cons of pads versus plugs.

Carrie's brother was Seth's college roommate and helps Seth find a nanny for his daughter - Carrie. Cue the constant longing and unrequited lust felt by Seth and Carrie as she manages his household, helps Maddie with her homework and takes care of her when he is on the road with the team.

Time passes and the lust between them is no longer unrequited. Believe me when I say that the bedroom scenes are about as hot and steamy as you can get. They were tastefully written and, even though their relationship began as sexual attraction, you can feel the feelings develop and come to the forefront.

I had never read any other books by Liz Lincoln but I highly recommend this one and look forward to reading more by this author.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

What I really want to do is frame this cover for my nightstand.

The premise is so promising, and in the beginning it's well put together. The complications that keep the two horny would-be lovers apart are not only believable, they put this into the realm of a book about grownups who have to make ethical choices, not just romantic ones. (No fake relationships here!)

Of course, that maturity can't last forever. Because horniness. I was hoping for a really clever denouement, but what I got was a romantic ending that's still sweet. The writing shows some strain when it comes to describing how hot Seth is in a new way (a lot of it boils down to "He was SOOO hot"), but I give it points for a smart setup.

Fun sports romance. . I loved Carrie, Seth and Maddie. Seth might have looked all football player, but his daughter, Mags, came first. Carrie’s flirting texts with Seth were funny and sweet. Maddie was a very typical, angst filled “tween”. A nice, easy, fun romance read.

I annoy a good aporta romance and this one did not fail in making me fall deeper in love with this genre. A must read for fans of this genre.

Overall, a fun read. Carrie, Seth and Maddie make a nice family unit and as the story went on I liked them more and more. At first I struggled with this story, as I really did not care for Carrie all that much. Too much angst and drama for my taste, but that may just be me. Quick easy read, and one I recommend if you like football romances.

Carrie and Seth are adorable together. Loved how it started with a grocery store meet cute. Seth focus on doing right by his daughter made him even more swoon worthy.

I truly wanted to like the story, but lost interest early on because there were just too many moving parts that gummed up the workings of what could have been a fun romance.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This was just okay. It was so predictable at nearly every turn that I just did not enjoy it. The characters were both likable but the story was to easy to put together.

ON THE LINE - Liz Lincoln

#1 in the Milwaukee Dragons romance series

HOT SPORTS/NERD ROMANCE - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - After a chance meeting in a grocery store, Carrie and Seth are wildly attracted to each other, but they don't take it any further. When Carrie realizes that she's not going to get a teaching job, she agrees to take the job as nanny to her brother's pro football friend. Of course, that turns out to be Seth. And their attraction to each other becomes a problem now that they're in an employer/employee relationship.

Writing - 4 stars - I haven't read Lincoln before, but she immediately caught me up in the story. Her characters are good, with lots of joking camaraderie, as well as some more serious moments. The "we can't" scenario lasted a little too long, I thought. But when they finally got around to it, the romantic scenes were definitely very hot.

Characters - 5 stars - This is where the story shone for me. Carrie is a fun if nerdy science teacher who loves comic books and cosplay. She's cute and funny, and even though I know nothing about super heroes, etc., I immediately felt that she'd be great to be friends with. Seth, as a very strong and determined defenseman, also has a soft side which is evidenced by his obvious love for his teenage daughter. They had an immediate chemistry, and it was fun to watch them squirm as they developed their relationship but had to keep it secret. I also loved that even though each of them knew absolutely nothing about the other's passion at the beginning, both of them took the time and energy to learn more about these subjects and cared enough to get involved.

Title - 4 stars - Good title. A football phrase that also refers to the fact that Carrie's relationship could be "on the line" if they end up in a relationship that goes bad.

Cover - 4.5 stars - Wow! You really can't beat a cover with totally hot male abs. And the sports shirt leads you in the right direction--telling you it's going to be a hot athlete book.

Overview - 4 stars - Overall, a very fun and pleasant romance by a new-to-me author. Lincoln excelled in creating fun and completely opposite characters and putting them into a naturally difficult situation, but one that could also be overcome and result in a HEA. It was sweet to watch Carrie get involved in watching and learning about football, even though she was completely not knowledgeable at first. And it was even cuter to watch Seth become immersed in the comic book convention even though he was obviously uncomfortable. Their willingness to support the other's passion really showed how great they were as people, not just a romantic couple. Very enjoyable romance, and I will definitely look for more from this author.

OMG. Carrie and Seth were pure magic. He is so swoon, but enough of a jerk at one point to not be too perfect. Loved this book!

Have you ever anticipated something for months and months, and then when you finally are there, or have it in your hands, the feeling is horrifically anti climate? That pretty much sums up On the Line for me. I’ve been excited to read this one for months. It was a single dad sports romance, with a bit of a Forbidden twist since the heroine was the nanny. But once I had it on my kindle, and I started reading, I felt none of the excitement I had been hoping for. Instead, I was bored, and found myself skimming more and more pages just to finish.

On the Line is written in third person, and tells the story of Carrie, an out of work science teacher and comic book nerd and Seth Chamberlain, the newest football player to be traded to the Milwaukee Dragons. Seth is a single father of a twelve year old tween named Maddy, who is struggling with the move from Houston to a new city. I really struggled with the third person point of view, and struggled to connect with the characters. They felt distant, and the writing style lead to a lack of any believable emotion.

I think my biggest issue with On the Line was the feeling of forced chemistry between Seth and Carrie. The entire first half of the book was simply reading about how they felt and how much they wanted each other. There was no drama, or tension to help propel the story forward, and it simply felt flat. The few times when these two did slightly give into their emotions seemed so socially awkward, I felt myself cringing for them both. Then, on top of the dull romance, their was Maddy who was probably the brattest twelve year old I’ve read in a long time. Every time she rolled her eyes, I wanted to yell about respect and cutting the attitude. The whole “it’s her age” trope felt like such a cop out. Their were so many other angles that the other could have used for her story thread that would have been more pleasant and believable.

While On the Line may be the perfect book for the reader looking for a cute, sweet romance, it just didn’t work for me. I’ve read a lot of romance over the years, and this one just didn’t stack up against the majority of them.

This is my first Liz Lincoln book. I really like her writing. These characters are real and completely believable. I imagine I could run into Carrie at the grocery store and while I don't travel in the same circles as NFL players, Seth is a completely great guy. I've just read this and the second book one right after the other. Liz Lincoln is writing really smart and interesting women.

While there isn't much actual football in this book there is a lot of real life stuff around traveling for games and being away from family that plays an important part. I liked the self imposed slow burn trend in Lincoln's books. Once they do heat things up, look out! Maddie is a sweet and typical tween who's care and needs drive most of the story.

I'm all in with the Dragons, I can't wait for the next book.

A good book by a new to me author. Interesting characters and a bit of a different story. I'll have to check out the next one.

I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked from the beginning, when the two main characters met. This book had so much of what I love thrown into one book,. I loved the Suoer Hero, comic book, nerdy thing going on. ( That’s totally me.). Add in that Seth reminds Carrie of Thor, damn! It was funny, romantic, hot, steamy, sweet. Just a great book. Wis( it was longer because I loved how they were together.

4.5-Stars for this well written fun & entertaining read! This is my first time read a book written by Liz Lincoln, and it definitely will not be my last. The storyline brought alot of heart & enough heat & showing the struggles of this single dad, Seth, as he tries to juggle his career, tween almost teen daughter & his own heart. Even though she recently turn into a moody, almost teenager, Seth still tries to put what he thinks is best for Maddie first. Can this hot & sexy man put himself first for once and find love or will his guilt trips from his daughter cause him to make the mistake and turn away Carrie the one who could be the love of his life & heart? Can't wait to read Marcus' story in Swagger, book 2 of this series. Great job Liz, definitely recommend one-clicking On The Line.
