Oh my heart! What an emotional story this is. Just loved it!

3 strangers collide in Central Park New York. 3 people who are all dealing with problems in their lives. Over the course of the day these 3 people learn so much about each other and themselves. Their stories and situations will tear at the heart strings and have you pulling for them to get through it. They are nothing alike at first glance but looks can be deceiving..

A beautiful story of friendships and being honest with yourself. Gayle Forman did not let me down with this one. Thanks to Simon and Schuster Australia and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy in exchange for my honest opinions.

I Have Lost My Way follows the lives of three individuals as they collide into each other in a very literal way when Freya falls from a bridge, only to land on Nathaniel, with Harun there to witness. Freya is an up and coming singer, who has lost her voice. Nathaniel is a small town boy who has just arrived in New York with little to his name, and Harun is a homosexual Muslim son, destined to leave home and find a wife and recently lost the love of his life, James.

The story follows their lives over the next twenty four hours as they find themselves connected in more ways than they imagine, each dealing with loss, and grief and struggling to cope. These three beautifully written and diverse characters band together, working to help each other overcome their obstacles and in doing so, realizing that they are no longer alone.

I have not read anything by Gayle Forman before, so I wasn't at all sure what to expect in I Have Lost My Way, and was more than pleasantly surprised to find myself immediately hooked from the first few pages. It was a light and easy read, and it wasn't long before I felt invested in the characters, eager to see how things turn out. It was an emotional read and I loved the themes of empathy and loss, and seeing how important sometimes even the little things can be to someone.

I Have Lost My Way follows 3 main characters who literally fall into each others lives just when each is feeling lost and confused. This starts an unlikely friendship between the trio and they ultimately help one another overcome their situations.
While this book takes place in one day, there are flashbacks to the past so you get to see how each character got to the point of feeling lost at the beginning of the book and then you get to see how their lives intertwine and how they help each other overcome it.
This was a very quick read as it has you turning the pages and wanting to know what happens next. My only fault with this book is that I didn't quite like how it ended. I felt like it needed another page or two.
However, this is a powerful novel of friendship, love, loss and heartbreak and I feel everyone should give it a go!

Around the time that Freya loses her voice while recording her debut album, Harun is making plans to run away from everyone he has ever loved, and Nathaniel is arriving in New York City with a backpack, a desperate plan, and nothing left to lose. When a fateful accident draws these three strangers together, their secrets start to unravel as they begin to understand that the way out of their own loss might just lie in helping the others out of theirs.

This is my first Gayle Forman story and I have to say it makes me want to read more of her stories. This book had me gripped from the first chapter. I loved learning more about Freya, Harun, and Nathaniel. Each of these characters was going through so much and had no idea how much they needed each other. I think it is powerful and shows just having one person who is there for you can make a huge difference in someone's life.

Each character had their own struggles and needed to find a way out and having each other helped them find that. The only issues I had with the is book was the ending. I wanted more and it left all the stories so unfinished... SMALL SPOILERS AHEAD.................................... For starters what happens to Freya's voice and music career. Harun does his parents ended up excepting what he told them. What happens with Nathaniel, does he stay in the city and does anything happen with the romance. I would love the second book because so much more can be added to their stories.

I ended up giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. this would have been a 5-star book if it was confirmed a second book was coming out or more was added to finish up their stories. I hate open ending books so that's why it didn't get the extra star.

A big thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

I thought this was a different book to what Gayle Forman usually writes. It follows three, distinct individuals and how their lives intertwine. It follows their past and present.

Whilst, I enjoyed the flashbacks, I did not like the snippets of the present. There were moments where the writing was wonderful. There were also moments where the dialogue brimmed with pretentiousness that I thought I was reading a John Green novel. I thought the insights about fate did not fit the overall tone of the book. They felt forced and kept pulling me out of the story.

My main issue was that I could not connect with any of the main characters, therefore, I felt like an observer for most of the novel.

Overall, if you are a fan of stories about fates intertwining then you will probably like this book. I felt pretty neutral about it. The memorable moments for me were the flashbacks and reading about how distinct the voices of each of the three characters were.

Received this as an ARC from NetGalley.

This book follows 3 characters as they all bump into each other one day - and it ultimately changes their lives.

Freya - a half black famous singer who is dealing with losing her voice, probably permanently.

Haran - a Pakistani, Muslim who has yet to come out to his parents.

Nathaniel - a boy with one eye who is learning to live life without his mentally ill, absent father.

This book has some very heavy themes as each character is pretty much dealing with a different kind of loss.

A short read - all of the events in the book take place within a single day - that could be recommended to almost anyone as this book has lots of situations that people can relate to.
