I have read several of Tilly Tennant’s books and feel this is the best so far.
Harper owns Silver Hill Farm where she runs a tea shop with her best friend Pip, she is also newly engaged to Shay. While working on the farm Shay uncovers a box of old jewellery and thinks that they should keep it but Harper is unsure. Meanwhile Will, who lives at Silver Hill House believes the jewellery belongs to his family so he also has a claim. Cesca an expert from the local museum is called in to decide who the jewellery belongs to.
An excellent story with plenty of great characters, featuring friendship and romance which was delight to read from start to finish.

The Summer of Secrets is the latest book by prolific British author Tilly Tennant. Harper Woods, together with her best friend Pip, moved to Cerna Hay about a year ago after a very disastrous time in her life including the loss of both parents and escape from an abusive ex-boyfriend. Using her inheritance, Harper purchased Silver Hill Farm and set up her bustling tearoom. Now, to add to her income her fiancé Shay McArthur is breaking ground to begin construction on vacation lets. But he doesn’t get very far when he unearths a treasure chest containing gold and jewels as well as a very special crucifix.

As a rule following kind of lady, Harper contacts the nearest museum and brings in experts in the field to determine the true owner or whether it will go to the crown with a finders fee to her. This irritates Shay, who wanted to keep it all. He is even more irritated when Lord Frampton of Silver Hill House comes calling seeking the return of what he thinks was stolen from his family a long time ago.

Even more than the mystery and the beauty of the area, this is the story of four very different women seeking fulfillment in their lives. What they each find is the real core of the story as they uncover many secrets.

This was a very well written story with rich endearing characters. I enjoyed this book and do recommend it!

I have loved Tilly Remnants books for some time now and when I hear a new book is coming out I have to find it on here or pre order it. You think her Xmas reads are brilliant and then she writes a better one and then we say all her books are amazing.
It's such a fabulous story, it's griping and you can't close it because you need to know 'what happens next?' The characters I really enjoyed too and the secrets and the surroundings is all we need for a happy read.
Harper has left her current life of sadness in order to get her life back and she does this by running a farm in Dorset with her best friend Pip. Harper has her boyfriend Shay who doesn't offer my h to the farm and never really help s Harper out even when she needs it most. Whilst digging on the grounds they find a box full of Antigua jewellery so what should she do. The antique dealer, the museum ppl and coroner are all involved in finding whose fully andegally entitled to it.. the big manor house owner Lord William Frampton fully believes it was his ancestors as he can picture the ring found on the land and on a painting at home. Harper and Will discuss it platonicly but Shay is arrogant and very rude to Will. Theres old twles abljt the manor house family and the troubles that have arose since forever and this man Shay doesn't like the family one bit for personal reasons we find in the book.
There's also the villagers Allie who is married to Greg and they have a son Josh. Allie is on her best behaviour to make her marriage work because she's had a one night affair with a local man. As time goes on, she does it again and Greg finds her in his bed... he cannot take it and kicks her out of the house... leaving her with nothing... she's been having an affair with Shay....
Things take a turn when Greg turns up at the farms tea room to tell Harper and Shay is there. The men fight and Will turns up with news and gets knocked out. It's all go. But there's light at the end of the tunnel and Harper kicks Shay out, pip is residing by Harper and they help Allie with somewhere to sleep. The only problem is Kristopher, the Norwegian historian who is leaving because he has fallen for Harper but he can't stay knowing she's marrying Shay so he books his flight home and comes to say goodbye to Harper. They 're unite and discuss things.
They find out who is going to get a rewrd from the crown for the jewellery and it's all happy days.
A fantastic read and I'll always want to read Tully's books. She has a way with books. They're fun, romantic, believable and totally happy.

Curled up on a cold rainy day kind of book !! Really enjoyed and definitely recommend . This main character in this book is Harper. She owns the tearooms and Silver Hill farm with help from her best friend Pip and builder fiancee Shay . Unexpectedly they come across some real life buried treasure. Life after the find changes for all them in different ways. My first time reading a Tilly Tennant book and it will definitely wont be the last.

Harper Woods is happy to be settled at Silver Hill Farm after a close escape from her previous controlling boyfriend. She’s not so quick to claim ownership of the box of jewellery dug up by her fiancé Shay whilst digging the foundations of her holiday lets. He is already mentally spending the money, which causes friction. The museum expert loyalties are torn between the possible owners and has a lot of digging of her own to do.
I totally loved this story from Tilly, she captured the emotions and atmosphere, I was rooting for Harper, willing her on though everything. Hope we get another instalment. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have always loved Tilly Tennants books and she didn't disappoint me at all full of romance, upset, laughter and love with great characters and story line that has you hooked all the way through. So many secrets are to come out but can they come through them or not. A really excellent easy read and great to imagine the beautiful countryside they are all in.
Harper owns a farm and wakes up loving her life on the farm with her handsome newly engaged partner but then you have Shay and downstairs are the teashops she's always dreamed of owning. Harper discovers something that is going to change her life forever she finds in the foundations some hidden treasure are they priceless but more trouble than they are worth. Harper doesn't reaslise that Shay after this find is getting closer to his ex. The village soon hear about the treasure and all try to claim to the fortune. The main person who is after it is Will who owns the big silver hill house and he's wanting to renovate it so knows the money will come in handy. Who will make the claim to the fortune and while this is going on romance will blossom but will there be heartache to and relationships will be tested and can everyone's be happy or not.
A beautiful read.

The first half of this felt like it really dragged on to me and I even considered stopping.

However, I did like the mix of quirky characters and the storyline but it just felt like it took forever to really get going. I did enjoy the 2nd half of the book though and all the secrets that came spilling out and how it all wound up.
