A feel good story that provides periods of suspense with twists and turns. Full of fantasy and dreams for true love. A must read!

I love the way these stories unfold. The characters are fantastic and the crazy antics that Gwen and Silas are always up to not to mention all the sisters.

When Eviana is scooped up by a dragon Gwennore hangs on for dear life. When she falls another catches her and brings her along with the little girl.

Back when the telling stones told her future she had no idea it would be this!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Gwennore has been raised on secluded Isle. She is one of the embraced and was sent there shortly after birth for her safety. She is an elf with the ability to touch someone and know their illness and how to cure it. While out picking flowers with her sister's daughter they are kidnapped by a dragon. Gwen knows it is her fault and hangs on for all she got in order to stay with her niece. She discovers that she can understand what the dragons are saying after one of them saves her life. Silas is General to his brother the King and is furious that he has allowed this kidnapping. He does not want war to break out and makes a bargain with Gwen to return her niece for her help in figuring out what is behind the curse. I was riveted to this book and thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry between Gwen and Silas. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon (The Embraced, #3) by Kerrelyn Sparks is an enjoyable read with fun, lighthearted character interaction and enough drama to keep the reader engaged. Suspect everybody and trust no one. Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon is actually the third book in the series centered around Gwennore and Silas's story. The author does an incredible job of integrating backstory so it can easily be read by itself or as part of the series. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing a copy for review. I definitely recommend this book especially if your looking for something a little lighter in the fantasy genre.

I forget how much I love this series from Kerrelyn Sparks until I find the next book and just adore it! This is another fun romp with dragons, elves, and so much more. One of the best things is that I get to re-visit the friends I've met in previous books.

I very much enjoyed Gwennore and Silas' story and the struggle to overcome the obstacles which seem to be set in stone. A very satisfying read all around. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy provided by NetGalley and can't wait to see where the books take me next.

Kerrelyn has woven a rich tapestry with this series! And, the problem with finding a new series you love? When it isn't completed yet! It is SO hard waiting for the next book!!

I am absolutely in LOVE with the characters in this series. Watching Gwennore grow in this story, and find the perfect man for her is so entertaining and poignant at the same time. A thoroughly engaging read!

I was in a reading slump, and this brought me right out of it! I like most of Sparks' books especially because they are light-hearted and fun to read. Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon was a good balance of funny banter and a steamy romance, entwined in mystery with a little bit of heartache. I liked this a bit more than book #2. Overall, if you're looking for a fantasy romance, I recommend grabbing this one.

Fun, fast and full of intrigue Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon caught my attention right away.

Gwennore, one of the special children born with gifted powers, was watching her sister by choice's daughter while they were picked flowers when a dragon swoops down to steal the baby away. Gwennore grabs on not wanting to let the dragon fly off with the child and ends up rescued by another dragon when she slips off mid air. She quickly discovers she can hear the dragons thoughts and he can hear hers. The dragon promises to get her and her charge home but Gwennore quickly discovers that the country she finds herself is ravaged by a curse. Her special gift is healing so this is right up her ally of expertise. Silas, the prince of the land, agrees that the baby needs to immediately go back to her parents but he wants to keep Gwen to help with the curse and so much more. Silas finds he is quickly falling for her and she him.

The journey into the curse is wrought with peril and political machinations.

I enjoyed Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon and was captivated right from the start. I did have a difficult time with so many characters not knowing their own mind, especially the gullibility of the king. But in the end this read was predictable yet entertaining, captivating and a delightful respite from reality.

I receive this ARC copy of Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon is set for publication March 27, 2018.

I have jumped into this series 3 books into it. But I didn’t have trouble acclimating to this world and the characters. Right away I liked Gwennore and couldn’t wait to find out more about Silas and his secrets. These two have a clear attraction right away and I loved watching their connection develop, as well as follow along as they attempted to figure out the mystery of what was happening in Silas’ country. This story is pretty cheesy in places, and though I enjoyed the humor a lot, the dialogue got a little silly at times. But overall this is a fun fantasy romance that was perfect, low maintenance read for my busy weekend at a conference.

Love Triangle Factor: None
cliffhanger Scale: Companion series. This character’s story is complete but there are 2 other sisters’ tales to go in this group of 5. I’m excited to find out what’s in store for Sorcha next, and I'm interested to go back and read the previous two.

It's been years since I've read a Kerrelyn Sparks book and it was clear to me that I've grown past her style of writing. For me, this read very much like a YA romantic fantasy until getting to the more adult parts towards the end. I'm not opposed to YA-I read it frequently-but this, while entertaining, had a fairly weak plot.

I will say that I liked the depth of the characters. Both Silas and Gwen had issues they were dealing with personally that brought a lot to the story and gave the book some meat. Gwen faced a sort of racism for much of her life and always felt like she had to prove herself. Silas lived in the shadow of his older brother and a family destroyed by a curse that has ruled his country for 500 years. These are great story points, but they're overshadowed by a silly subplot involving Gwen coming up with a cure for a plague that has basically destroyed Silas's country and the idea that for 500 years not a single person considered that (spoiler) poison was at the root of the insanity their monarchs suffered from.

There's intrigue that started back in book one of this series, but I didn't have any issues jumping in on book 3. There's a bit of heat towards the end of the book and some nice back and forth between Silas and Gwen. 3 stars. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for honest feedback.

This was the first book in this series that I read and I really want to go back and read the others now. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I have read the Love at Stake series by Kerrelyn Sparks and have always liked her writing. This books was no exception. I was hooked from the beginning to the end!

The characters are all very interesting, well developed, and fun. There was tons of great banter and teasing between the main characters. I even loved many of the side characters! The plot is exciting and I liked getting to read about this different world that the author created. I couldn't put the book down and read it whenever I had any free time. I am very much looking forward to the continuation of the mystery and intrigue (that is present throughout the series) in the next book.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy/shifter books or anyone who just enjoys a very well written and captivating story.

I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I enjoyed the little bit of humor infused with adventure. I especially enjoyed the dragon shifter and elf romance. Lots of action and a mystery to be solved.

I have to say first that I'm impressed. This book is clearly part of a series, and it's not often that I never feel lost when I jump into the middle of the action, as it were. There was enough background that I didn't feel the need to stop reading, go find the first two and finish them before starting the book from the beginning (it has happened, and those days were dark). But on the flip side, there were enough details that I found myself curious about the first two books in the series, so I probably will go back and read them at some point. That's a skill, and not every author has it.

This is probably the first Kerrelyn Sparks book that I've read, and I enjoyed it. It was a beach read, with a good blend of romance and plot. The execution was good, the writing solid from a technical perspective. The dual POV worked well (and that's something I usually find choppy so VERY well done there) and it moves at a brisk pace so it's a quick read. I found myself wondering toward the end when the next book would be out, so Ms Sparks is effective at moving forward the overarching plot of the series without losing sight of the story she's telling now. Another rare skill.

That's not to say the book is perfect. I have some issues with the title (it would make more sense on an urban fantasy or modern fantasy romance given the pop culture reference, and that's what I was expecting when I picked the book up and started reading). There were anachronisms throughout the book, usually when a carefully constructed rhythm of language was thrown off with a modern phrase. The world building was pretty thin- there were a few times when it felt like it would break if I breathed on it too hard. If this book were classified as a fantasy I'd be harsher but hey, it's a romance novel first and a fantasy novel second which means I'm less inclined to nitpick. There are a lot of romance series with fantasy underpinnings that don't lay the groundwork for a fantastical universe the way they'd need to if the books were located in a different genre and that's pretty much fine with me but if that's not your cup of tea consider yourself warned.

Overall an enjoyable way to spend a rainy evening. Come for the romance, stay for the happy ever after and enjoy the dragons along the way.

This is the third book in the Embraced series and I have loved each one. These are set in a fantasy realm and certain babies are born with special gifts. The kings want to kill all these babies with powers so they are hidden away on a private island and do not know who there families are. Each book is about a different character and how they find their families and, of course, true love. Highly recommended

Charming book, I've been a fan of Sparks books for years and have reviewed some of them. What do I like most about them is that they're cute and fluffy reads that are absolutely charming. I can put the book down and pick it back up and be instantly transformed into the amazing world of dragons and princesses. They are witty and fun without all the drama that most people seem to be attracted to these days. I enjoyed Gwen and Silas as they embarked on an adventure that only seems to bring them closer. This is the third book in the series but it can be treated as a stand alone. I remember reading one of these a few years ago but it's not necessary to have read it to enjoy this one. The rules for dating a dragon are indeed simple and exciting as Gwennore makes her way through the challenges of getting close to Silas. The book has a superb cast of characters and hopefully there's a book planned for Brody. Thanks Netgalley for a superb read, and to the author...I'd like Brody's story next. :)

Mediocre romantic fantasy fiction. When an elven woman is kidnapped by dragons while trying to protect her princess niece, she immediately feels a kinship with a dragon who rescues her, whom she deems Puff. Once on the grounds of her kidnapper's kingdom, she almost instantly falls for a beautiful general in the army. This book had very poorly constructed mysteries -- it almost felt like it was meant to be dramatic irony but I couldn't tell because the writing was too dull. Almost everything about this book was predictable, from the starry-eyed main characters to the plodding plot. There were extreme hints dropped at other novels in this series based on the heroine's sisters; will definitely not be reading those.

Warning: This is a really long review.
Have you've ever read a book that has gotten you so consumed you don't want to do anything but finish reading the story? I'm cooking dinner but all I want to do is get back to my story. I'm wondering what's going to happen. And I feel like the story is continuing without me which is highly unlikely of course but I can't help feeling that way. All I want to do is read. Ok. That is how I felt while reading this story and having to stop to do things for my family.

Now about this story. I love that this is not a true historical. It may seem like it but it's not. It takes place in another time and place. May seem like a historical but their manner of speak is more modern and hilarious. There's no technological advances so it may appear like a historical but the reader just needs to remember that this is a made up world and just go with it. I loved that there's some paranormal elements like magic and special powers and gifts that certain individuals have. There's also dragons and elves and shape shifters. This series really has it all and I've been having so much fun reading this series. But I especially loved Silas and Gwennore in this story. He was definitely gorgeous and sweet and I loved his sense of humor in the midst of such turmoil in his country. And Gwennore was so honest and pure of heart and so brave. Definitely a sigh worthy story even with only one major sex scene. But the chemistry between them was there from the beginning and it was just so much fun reading their interactions. I seriously can't say enough good things about Eight Rules for Dating a Dragon. I highly recommend this story and this while series. You really don't need to read them in order but it'll make the experience so much more if you do.

The book features Gwen, an elf who was abandoned as a child and raised with several other girls whom she now considers her sisters, and Silas, a dragon shifter and general of his country's army. Gwen and her sisters were all born at a special time of year and as a result have inherited various magical talents. In Gwen's case, she can tell what's wrong with a person just by touching them. She's not specifically a healer, although she has studied medicine so that she can help people. Unfortunately, as an elf, she's feared and disliked by most people because the elves in this world are reclusive and warlike and constantly attack the other countries. The elves are currently at war with Silas' country, so when she accidentally ends up in his kingdom while trying to save one of her nieces from being kidnapped, everyone mistrusts her there. Silas saves her from being killed and is immediately attracted by her beauty, selflessness, loyalty and smarts.

Gwen soon learns that Silas' country is suffering from a supposed curse that has lasted for 500 years and she's kindhearted so she agrees to help Silas find the real cause of the problem. Both Gwen and Silas are enjoyable, attractive characters. Both are honorable people trying to do the right thing, so they make a good couple. I liked that they communicated openly with each and didn't try to hide crucial pieces of information as so often happens in these stories. The story did involve insta-love and I felt their romantic relationship wasn't as developed as it could have been but otherwise I enjoyed it very much.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Gwennore is one of the five adopted "sisters" who had been sheltered on the Isle of Mists. She is an elf who has suffered prejudice since coming to the mainland. During a celebration, she takes a "niece" to a high meadow to pick flowers, to get away. There, a dragon kidnaps the niece. Gwennore grabs on to the dragon's talon, not willing to let her niece go. Another dragon saves Gwennore from plunging to her death. Gwennore and her niece end up in the country of the dragons. There, the royalty suffer from madness, there is a curse and a plague, there are state secrets that are unsafe to know, mysteries, whispers in the forests, and the ability to communicate with thoughts, a war with the elves, and more.

And a General, Silas Drevenko, who is General Gorgeous. He also has many secrets of his own.

Gwennore has the gift of being able to diagnose ailments with a touch. She learned healing to go along with this gift. Silas convinces Gwnennore, albeit deceitfully, to stay and help heal his people. He will return her niece to her parents. Gwennore stays.

Gwen and Silas are undeniably attracted to each other--probably even in love with each other. But can Gwen trust Silas? He's keeping secrets from her. And would his people ever accept her, their enemy?
