Sorry this book wasn't for me, I found it the same as all other books in this gere and was looking for something a little different, that being said if you do like a good run of the mill romance/ NA then this is for you :)

So this about a young girl who wants to be a model.

It started off really well and I was really into it, but it seemed to be that the further I got the slower the story got...

I really like Mable, she's really cool but I'd have liked to get to know her more. Simon I'm not so sure about... Gloria I think would be an amazing character with actual background and more scenes.

This could have been really cute but it was just too slow for me to enjoy. And I stopped at about 35% I just couldn't continue.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read this book.

First I love the name Mable. It’s not a name that is heard very often now as most authors seem to choose something out of this world.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that the first half was told from Mables POV then was switched.

Simon was adorable although I must have skipped the part where he was Australian until a bit further in the book.

I’ve not read or heard of this author before this book but I Ill be reading more in the future.

Maria La Serra is a new author to me, I sort of knew what to expect because I have read one other book like this before it was Tone deaf by Olivia Rivers

I loved Mable its such a unique name you don’t really see it now a day. Mable has a dream of becoming a model. Her first agent that she had dropped her and she wanted to give up because she didn’t really fit into the mold of a model. She is a strong woman and she wants to change the way that the model industry is. That was until she met Simon.

Simon is a photographer who like to keep to himself. I think that he was able to bring this natural beauty out of Mable and I loved that.

Mable and Simon have a instant connection but they don’t act on there feelings right away. The story blended together well. There were many emotions that I had reading this book. I laughed and cried a few times I also got angry at some.

I think this is a must read because I haven’t found many like it. If you know of any then please let me know because I would love to read it.

Mabel is an aspiring model trying to make a big name for herself in NYC. She’s hard of hearing which affects her speech and modeling agencies steer clear of her. Mabel had been dropped by her agent and now she plans on going home. When Mabel is about ready to give up and move home when she meets Simon who is a big shot photographer, Simon challenged Mabel to a game of pool not knowing she had been taught to play the game by a three time champion- her father. Mabel had been spending the evening at a bar and then someone stole her purse. Mabel planned to win the hundred dollars as she needed it to survive for a few more days that she had left in NYC. Mabel’s mother left when she was she was a child and she wondered if she would ever find a lasting love. He also talks her into staying in NYC. Mabel also isn’t pencil thin like a lot of models.
I couldn’t really get into this book. I felt Mabel and Simon both had some maturing to do. I know they both have reasons and are broken but it wasn’t enough reasons for me. I didn’t feel a real connection between Simon and Mabel and this didn’t keep my attention . I tried a couple of times to finish this and couldn’t. This just wasn’t for me.

***I received this book via NetGalley from the publisher in exchange for an honest review***

I requested this because of the synopsis. I was intrigued by the idea of a hard of hearing model. Then, I was promptly disappointed.

This book had a lot of potential, but didn't deliver. Ms. La Serra did make some different decisions when it came to story structure which I appreciate. There were some technical errors, but those don't typically bother me, plus this is an ARC so that's a possibility.

My main issue was the romance. I felt no chemistry between these two. I knew I was supposed to, but it felt bland. Mable and Simon were also very immature. Especially for adults (one of whom has been married) they should be able to use their words. Instead they would withhold things from each other and make petty decisions.

In the end, I don't hate this book or the writing. Instead it's kind of just forgettable. I do see potential in the writing and would try another book by this author in the future when she's had an opportunity to grow more as a writer.

Wishy washy and frankly boring. I kept expecting something powerful, some plot twist, some real raw emotion but no this book just plodded sedately on. It wasnt that it was obvious, but the element of "maybe it wont work" just wasn't there. If you're going to hazard the female might end up with sometime else at least show some spark of interaction there. Dull, in the fullest sense

This book was ok it had a good story but I felt like at points that it dragged. It was way too much back and forth and in the end I never felt like I got to know the characters while they went through a lot i never felt the personal connection.

Lyrical Lights was a different read, the plotline was quite fresh and new. I wasn't overly impressed, but I liked it enough.

I liked the banter between the main characters, even though their hot and cold relationship tired me after some time. I love angst and a good slow burn romance, but there's so much that I can take when it comes to building a romance between the hero and the heroine.

The characters go through a lot throughout the whole story and, at a point, I feel like a lot was just thrown there and I miss seeing the aftermath and the follow up. The ending was satisfactory, but some of the things that happen until we get to the end weren't showed to us readers. So I had a hard time connecting to that part of the story.

Overall, it was a good read, but I expected tobe more impressed.

This was adorable to the max. These two were had chemistry and didn't immediately go fast in the relationship. They became friends slowly falling in love at the same time.
