This is a cute book about a group of friends vacationing together on a cruise. At times, I felt like I was on the cruise with them and then once they got to Bermuda, I felt like I was there in the pink sand with them too. This is a great summer read for anyone! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this complimentary copy. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Summer Sail is the quintessential summer read that focuses on a group of friends whom met at college and have stayed besties from that day on. Abby who is married and has two sons wants to bring together her friends for a week of sun, fun and relaxing on a cruise to celebrate her twentieth wedding anniversary. However, when all is said and done Abby might have interior motives than just a fun friends cruise, it could be something no one ever expected.

While it seems like a great vacation each of her friends is dealing with their own mini problems. Lee is single and has devoted her life to her daughter Lacey who is off in college but doesn’t know how to deal with being alone. It has always just been the two of them and Lee simply can't cut the strings when it comes to Lacey. Caroline is a successful magazine writer and while she has gotten everything she wants career-wise now she now wants nothing more but to get married but she is afraid her boyfriend doesn’t want that but she is determined to get a proposal on this cruise or she might just dump him.

I really did fall in the love with the scenery and got pulled into the storyline, and while I felt something was looming when it was finally revealed to everyone I just didn’t feel the impact I was expecting. I just felt when it finally came out it was rushed all of a sudden. Granted it was towards the end but I just felt like the payoff wasn’t there but overall I liked how we got to know each friend and each had their own storyline. I also loved the message of friendship and how each one had each other's backs. They were true friends and would do anything for each other. I also wouldn’t mind a sequel of sorts I thought there was plenty of story that could still be told. This is one read that is a summer must!

This was on o.k. read. I found it an easy weekend read but no real substance. Needed some more character development

I want to thank Netgalley the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a very enjoyable, light, quick read. The whole book takes place on a cruise and it was the perfect setting to get ready for warmer weather. Very predictable, but I still enjoyed it.

Excellent summer read! Characters the reader really cares about and a friendship that goes way back!

Very good beach read. I think it's the first book I've read by Wendy Francis and the cruise setting was a new one by me as well. I quite enjoyed the settings in this book.

The characters were interesting and the story held my interest because I kept wanting to know what would happen with Caroline. Abby, I quickly figured out what was going on with her and felt I'd have enjoyed that part of the story with a little less foreshadowing. Caroline quite frankly grated on my nerves. I've never been a fan of the passive aggressive games people play and she was a master at them. Lee was kind of the bumper in the middle ~ the one each of the others wanted to be their special friend.

A good read, one I'd recommend, just not 5 stars for me. Thanks very much to Netgalley for an early copy.

This book could not be coming out at a more perfect time. The characters all lead very different lives and get together on a cruise ship for a special sail. This is a perfect beach read when so many people will be reconnecting with their own families and friends over the summer. The stories are so different so it is easy to find yourself in one of the characters. Very fun read and very good!

The Summer Sail by Wendy Francis is a contemporary novel of friendship, family, life and love. The story is told from multiple points of view of Abby, Caroline, Lee and Lacey.

Abby is celebrating her twentieth wedding anniversary and after getting some rather devastating news she decides to do it in style by booking a cruise for not only herself, husband and two sons but also her college friends Caroline and Lee and their families.

As the group sets said for Bermuda it quickly becomes apparent that all have different things going on in their lives that they are focused on. Not only is Abby struggling with sharing her news but Caroline struggling with wanting a proposal and Lee with reconnecting with her daughter, Lacey.

As a fan of cruising it only took one glance at the cover of this book to sell me on reading it. I was hoping to find the author had done a wonderful job with the setting as much as I was hoping for some lovely characters. Thankfully when finished I found both of these things and was even highly impressed at how well the author knows her cruising even including tips and tricks veteran cruisers have come to rely on. This was definitely a wonderful read all around.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

I loved this book! I would love to read more from the characters! Great book about friendships and family. Great summer reading, story moves along quickly. I would recommend to fans of Nancy Thayer. This is my first book by this author but I would definitely read more.

Loved this book. An easy read, perfect for a summer beach ready, but really anytime. Well written!! Three college roommates who have stayed friends throughout the years, each dealing with life’s different issues. They take a cruise along with their families to celebrate an anniversary all while one is harboring a secret that threatens all their worlds. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read this author again!

The Summer Sail is a satisfying read. Three college roommates reunite for a week long cruise to Bermuda. One is celebrating her anniversary, another is reconnecting with her college aged daughter, and the last is hoping to take her relationship with her partner to the next level. Surprises abound for all three women, but at the cruise conclusion, there are resolutions. The scenery and descriptions of the beatiful water and beaches will make readers want to book a cruise immediately. Don't sail past this book!

Cruising Fluff! And fluff this definitely is as the book skims the surface with the main characters and one bratty millennial (seriously – we’re not equal yet - not until the pay is the same). Its light, its fluffly, it’s a quick little summer read. Unfotunately, it stirs up some memories and emotions that I didn’t want to have to think about. My mother in law was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in the summer of 2016, was cleared to go on a cruise in the early fall of 2016, and had passed away from a secondary form of cancer (sarcoma around her heart) by February 2017. I really don’t want to read a series or a trilogy of someone who either is going to find that miracle bone marrow match (my MIL was not age eligible) or die a beautiful death surrounded by family and friends.
What I loved: The descriptions of the island, the ship – absolutely heavenly. Bermuda is more of an East Coast thing (we west coasters can just hit Mexico or Hawaii for our island destination) but I’d still like to check it off of my bucket list some day.
What I didn’t love: This entire book was shallower that a plastic wading pool… No great flashbacks to their college years, no passion between any of the couples, everything was on the surface for fear of bringing up anything remotely emotional. It was like being on the Titanic with a bunch of Wasps.

What I learned: What’s wrong with wearing socks to bed?
Overall Grade: B-

This novel was a light, easy read, perfect for the beach. Three college friends gather together on a cruise to Bermuda to celebrate Abby and Sam's 20th wedding anniversary. Each friend is carrying a secret, and the novel explores how they are holding their secrets, and leads to the eventual disclosure of each. I felt like I was right along that cruise with them!

More please! I love books where lives of different characters are intertwined and this was no exception. Please continue Abby and her story. I felt like Lacey and Tyler wasn't necessary.

Abby, Caroline and Lee have been best friends since college, more like sisters. Abby and her husband are renewing their vows on their twentieth anniversary, and the three friends and families are going on a cruise to Bermuda to celebrate. Each group has secrets or issues they are dealing with, and the setting of a cruise is appealing, I liked it and recommend as a great beach read.

A group of friends and their family gather to celebrate a 2o year wedding anniversary. Each of the three friends is going through something and they aren't sharing much with one another. I enjoyed this story about family and friendship.

Even though the topic about women's relationships with friends and family has been done before, Francis has created a cast of likable characters and a very enticing cruise ship and Bermuda setting. In fact, I'm ready to book the next ship bound for Bermuda--or any place warm and sunny. This is a solid entry for my list of Beach Books for 2018.

I enjoyed Francis' previous title THE SUMMER OF GOOD INTENTIONS, and would this recommend for fans of Nancy Thayer and Wendy Wax. It's a bit lighter in tone but readers of Elin Hilderbrand might also enjoy.

Thanks to the publisher for the advance digital reading copy.
