Alex Rebat and Megan Montgomery met two years ago at her cousin's wedding and spent a whole weekend together. He's a physical therapist in Portland and had successfully treated her cousin Zach after a serious accident. She's a workaholic computer programmer extraordinaire, living on the east coast. They'd tried the long-distance relationship but her work always came first. However, they'd never really forgotten what it had been like; since their first weekend neither has had successful relationships. When they meet again, they have to step back and figure out where to go, or if it's even possible.
One of Alex's current patients, Danny, is also a childhood friend who'd broken his neck while on a weekend with friends, including Alex. He's been a quadriplegic since then, and works hard to convince Alex not to feel guilty about the accident. When Megan starts to pull away, again putting work first, Alex is hurt and Danny helps him see that he should go after Megan now, as you never know what tomorrow will bring. Megan, on the other hand, knows what she's missing by pushing Alex away, and decides he and their future is much more important -- her life will no longer be spent trying to please her very over-bearing father but will be spent pleasing herself -- and Alex.
This is a story about second chances. Their struggles are totally believable, and make you smile and cry at the same time. I haven't yet read the other books in the series but there's enough background info that it wasn't too difficult to follow the other characters.
I'd received this as an ARC but ended up reading it in hardcopy -- time just got away from me!

I was pulled right into this story. This story will pull you in and make you laugh through the entire story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Wait for Me (The Montgomery Brothers, #1)
Trust in Me (The Montgomery Brothers, #2)
Stay with Me (The Montgomery Brothers, #3)
More of Me (The Montgomery Brothers, #3.5)
Return to You (The Montgomery Brothers, #4)
Meant for You (The Montgomery Brothers, #5)
I'll Be There (The Montgomery Brothers, #6)
This is Megan and Alex’s story. Megan and Alex met at her cousin’s wedding and had one steamy night. They didn’t see each other for two years but both of them still think about that night. When Megan gets a job at the same place as Alex she tries to avoid but the pull between them is strong. He is also determined to have her and willing to prove that he is the man for her. Can he make her believe that he is the one for her. Or will she push him away.
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I recommend this book.

Another great book in the Montgomery Brothers series. Alex and Megan met years ago at a wedding and tried to make a long distance relationship work, but weren’t successful. They meet again a few years later and are able to have the relationship they both wanted before.

The last of the Montgomery's. In true Samantha Chase style. Great characters. all the feels and a great story. I love that she brings all the siblings and cousins into the story.

I don't want to write this review....Not because I didn't read the book but because I did and it didn't knock my socks off. I have met Samantha Chase and I have bought almost all her books but I have to say that I won't be buying this one to have signed. Why? Because the characters in it drove me up the wall and not in a great way. Alex I liked...Megan - NOPE. I found Megan to be uptight, unyielding and most of all - a frigid block of Ice. She should get with the YETI...#NOLIE - I really disliked everything about her...even her love of Oreos. That couldn't redeem her. Alex, oh Alex...RUN. Seriously, dude just run so darn fast...in the other direction. This was almost a DNF but I'm a fast reader so I sped myself up like the slalom. Maybe next time.

This is Alex and Megan book, Alex has been friends with the Montgomery family for years he did PT on Meghan brother Zach he always helps everyone out, catering to their needs, he's a sweet romantic guy! He and Megan hooked up a couple years before at Zach wedding ,well they come back together a couple years later, Zach offers Megan a job and she accepts, she moves back and if course this puts her and Alex back together! It was a slow burn sweet romantic story! It definitely wasn't my favorite of her books but it was a decent read. Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

Super cute story with a great deeper than I expected plot line. There are so many layers to peel open in this story. Characters are deep. It’s not a flaky love story. There are actual real life issues and challenges. I wanted to cheer the main characters on and was hoping for them!

In Until There Was Us, we meet Megan and Alex. Well, we meet them through the eyes of Megan's mom, Monica, and aunt Eliza. You see, Monica wants grandchildren. As she watches Megan's cousins fall in love and start their own families, Monica decides to take matters into her own hands. Seeing the chemistry radiate off Alex and Megan, a plan is formed. And as Alex and Megan grow closer that fateful weekend, a relationship is waiting to blossom.
I adored Alex from the moment I met him in Until There Was Us. Not only is he already head over heals for Megan, he also has a heart of gold. I loved watching him being so kind and tender with Megan. He knows that if he moves too fast he'll most likely spook her. Instead, he slowly shows her that there's a beautiful world outside of the office. He shows her that it's okay to be herself, that he'll never judge her. In turn, she helps heal his heart. After loosing a piece of him, she's there to help him fight through his demons. Plus any man that offers to go to the craft store with his significant other is a winner in my books.
Megan was forced into a box at a young age. When her brothers were groomed to join the family business, she was told to be the perfect cooperate wife. All Megan wanted was acceptance. Sadly, to get that, she had to hide things she loved to do and throw herself into her work. Because of that, Megan missed the chance at happiness. Fate had other plans. Well, fate with a little help of her mom. Running in Alex 2 years after their weekend, all those feelings comes flooding back. With Alex, Megan can be herself for the first time in her life.
I fell in love with Megan and Alex the moment we spy on them at the wedding. There's something magical about their relationship and I adored every moment of it. The sweet moments made me swoon. The sexy moments made me sigh. The sad moments made me tear up. Until There Was Us was a fantastic story of love and all that's possible.

“Until There Was Us” is signature Samantha Chase – a simmering romance that seems to be building up slowly but surprises you in every turn as each segues into another step forward to a happily ever after. But, don’t think that the paths taken are cliché. It is so far away from that. As I said, there are surprises and Ms. Chase always saves the best surprise for last!
Megan and Alex’s relationship started right, but somewhere along the way, they made a wrong turn. As they find their way back to that effervescent point, they need to find balance and harmony within.

The premise was great. I hate harshing on the heroines but Megan was chilly and so into her work and ugh... Alex was a sweet soul! She Stood him up over 2 years before after he travelled across the country to be with her... How could you get so caught up in work you don't meet a man when he does that! It's inconceivable to me. So starting off she was on my bad list. SMH.
I enjoyed the story and the way they interacted in the end. It was an average but enjoyable read, even though I wanted to smack Megan several times.

Completely in love with Alex Rebat!!!
Once again we are among the festive, rowdy and "almost" perfect Montgomery.
I said almost because, like any human being, like any family, they have problems to be solved. And believe me, there are several. But still, they are strong and charismatic characters.
This is the time of Megan Montgomery's story.
A computer girl, a techie, who loves her job, but who most often exaggerates the time she spends on it, keeping all the people she loves an arm's length.
And then we meet Alex, the same physical therapist who helped Zach Montgomery after the accident.
Alex and Megan met each other at the wedding of Zach and Gabriella. The connection was instant and during that weekend everything was magical. Alex was sure to have found his soul mate.
But Megan proved to be more difficult than he imagined. And for 3 months, while living in separate cities, they kept in touch by phone. But when Alex went to NY to have a romantic weekend with her, Megan was afraid and stood him up.
Two years later, Megan was back in Portland to change the operating system of the branch where Zach worked.
Megan would have all the support of Zach/Gabriella and Summer/Ethan while she was in town. And it turns out that Alex had become a close friend of the two men.
Again, Megan and Alex would be in the same environments. And finally Alex could find out why Megan ran away from him two years ago, and this time, he would do anything to not make the same mistakes, and get a second chance with the woman he can not forget.
Get ready!! Very romantic moments, but also tense.
Both Alex and Megan need to discover themselves before they enter into a romantic relationship, and one ends up being healing and support for the other.
Great story.

I just adored Megan and Alex (perhaps part of it is their names – my twins are Meighan and Alex lol)! Although the 7th in a series, I don’t feel like this one was confusing at all. It definitely read as a standalone. If you like stories about second chances and find out who you are … this is the book for you. I love that Megan was able to grow throughout the novel into the person she wanted to be instead of the person she thought she had to be. The power of the right relationship to get you where you really want and need to be as an individual and all of that! Alex was a dream hero … delectable, smart, funny, adorable, and more. There is plenty of humor as well as sexy bits in this one. Very good one. Looking forward to going back to read earlier books in the series!

I wanted to love this one. I read books 1-3 in this series and then jumped to this one. I had a hard time with it. Where the series started out strong with the Montgomery brothers, it should have stayed just that. Where I liked the idea of William being the family matchmaker the series no longer fits when you bring in cousins and such. Anyway moving on. The first half was slow to me, I am shocked at how long it took me to read this. Ok, ok to some 6 days doesn't seem like long but when I can knock them out in 2 or 3 days usually this one took double that. I kept losing interest. I will eventually go back and read books 4-6 since I purchased them, but I am in no rush. Sorry!

Megan had just flown into Portland. Her cousin Summer was to meet her at the airport baggage claim but she let Megan know she was circling the airport trying to get her baby daughter Amber to sleep. Spring in Portland was nicer than in Albany which Megan had just left. She had left her job she had been working at for the last three years, She had opted to work for her cousin Zach which was out of her comfort zone since it had been on the other side of the country. But she has been given the opportunity to work in the family business something Megan had always wanted to do. Only problem was Megan didn’t understand finance and she didn’t have the business savvy the rest of her family did. She was a computer girl- a techy and she was really good at what she did. Nobody knew Megan’s great grandmother had taught her how to crochet when she was a young girl. Megan found it fascinating and relaxing. She had come home from Nana’s one day with the most adorable, soft, cuddly baby blanket and showed her father but he had scoffed at it and told her it was ugly and mocked her for her desire to spend time making things he thought were totally frivolous. At first Megan had been heartbroken and she had stopped crocheting for a while but the next time at Nana’s she started crocheting again as she missed the comfort she received from making the baby things. So Megan continued crocheting but in private and she made sure no one knew about it. Crocheting was Megan’s secret hobby and she donated all the clothes and blankets she made to hospitals and women’s shelters. She had things in her suitcase she had made Summer’s little girl Amber, Summer also had a dog- a pug named Maylene. . Summer let Megan know she was the sister Summer never had and she was extremely happy she was in Portland now. Then Gabriella called who was seven months pregnant and Zach was so overprotective she asked Megan to distract Zach just so she could go shopping by herself. Megan said she would keep Zach busy with codes and computer issues that Zach’s head would be spinning for days. Megan knew she had to call her family and let them know she landed okayas her mother had been really anxious about Megan’s trip. Megan’s mom had hounded her to move closer to home then she was happy Megan was moving to the other side of the country- mothers! Megan had been in a rut in Albany Men didn’t normally ask Megan to dance like Alec did. She was the friend, the buddy, someone to hang out with, or ask advice on dating women. But the weekend of her cousins wedding she had a fling with Alec. She knew she would probably see Alec here but he may not even recognize her as now he would see a no nonsense computer girl who dressed for comfort and wasn’t the least bit...girly. Alec was at a wedding - his sixth in two years and it was getting old as Alec had been a groomsman in them all. Alec was the last single guy in his circle of friends. Alec was tired of watching from the sidelines as it was something he now wanted for himself- he was thirty two and ready to settle down. Alec wanted it all- a wife, kids, a dog. He had bought a house the year before. Alec hadn’t found anyone he would consider sharing his life with. Alec was a physical therapist and a hard patient he had worked with was Zach. The psychological trauma from Zach’s injuries had been far worse than the physical injuries but Alec wouldn’t give up on Zach. Now they were good friends. Alec had tried to maintain a connection with Megan after that weekend but she had said they weren’t meant to be. They had kept in touch for three months now it had been two years. Then Alec found out Megan had moved to Portland and was working for Zach. Megan and Alec met up again at Zach’s house when they were helping to prepare the house for the birth of Zach’s and Gabriella’s baby. Alec asked Megan out and she said she had to get settled first. Then Ethan and Summer, Gabriella and Zach went to a wedding and Megan was dog sitting Maylene and she got out and Megan didn’t know anyone to call but Alec and he said he would be right over. They ended up finding Maylene right in Ethan’s hammock where she wasn’t supposed to be but better than lost. Megan and Alec had to talk about what had happened and how they ended things. Then they slept together as the attraction was as strong as it ever was even after two years. No man had even made Megan want to lose control like Alec did. It was wild and scary and exciting all at the same time. Megan told Alec from the time she was little she knew how important a good work ethic was as she saw how hard her father worked and then watched him train her brothers. Her dad didn’t say anything to Megan as he felt girls weren’t supposed to worry about work. He believed she should have a good education so Megan was a well rounded person and made sure she had good manners and grace and her being groomed to become a good corporate wife someday. Megan hated it all- the dance lessons, piano lessons. Megan decided she wanted to show her dad she was as smart as her brothers as she had to prove herself.
I loved this book. It was a quick, easy, great.romantic read. I loved how close everyone was in this story. I loved how one of Megan’s uncles and his wife were matchmakers for their family. I loved all the couple shown here but especially Alec and Megan. The pace and plot in this book was great also. I loved how close Alec and Danny were and how Danny wanted to make sure Alec would be okay when he was gone. I loved how happy both Summer and Gabriella were when Megan moved to Portland. I loved watching Megan grow and change to become her own woman and too truly be happy. I couldn’t find anything to criticize in this book and I loved that. I loved the strong feelings and attraction between Megan and Alec right away. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend.

As many of the reviews give a lot of the story, I would just like to say, if you love sweet second chance stories, then Alex and Megan's romance in "Until There was Us" is just the book you will want in your page turning hands. It is often said, the details is in the telling, and for me, Samantha Chase always tells a story that is engaging, tempting, and detailed to give that aha moment and a HEA for the reader. If this is your first read of the Montgomery Bros. books, it stands alone, and they each can be read in any order for complete enjoyment. Recommended for your library, I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me "Until There Was Us". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4..5 Stars!

I really enjoyed this story. Chase has a great style that always keeps you interested. I liked the mix of family and friends and how they all mesh together. This was a romance worth reading.

PHENOMENAL READ!!! In my opinion, Samantha Chase’s Until There was Us and her Montgomery Brothers series ranks right there with Bella Andre’s Sullivan series, and Nora Robert’s Inn Boonsboro Series (another Montgomery series, by the way). This series are the books that hooked me to Samantha Chase and her phenomenal writing.
Megan Montgomery and Alex Rebat…. Sigh. The steam factor, although implied, is sooo hot, at some points, I thought my ereader was going to catch fire. I love the strength, the unknown strength that Megan Montgomery has. The way she is determined to live up to and surpass the “Montgomery” name. I LOVED each and every character, welllll, maybe not EVERY one. I wanted to smack Megan’s father upside the head and tell him to get his head out of his a…. stop, PG, have to keep the PG. What he does to his own children. Sorry folks, not going to give anything away. You will need to read this wonderful book to find out what he does and did…..
From reading this wonderful book, I can see the possibility of many more in the future. I cannot wait.
I was gifted with a e-book copy of this book for my reading enjoyment and I cannot wait until it is release in the audio version so I can add it to my collection.
Kudos Ms. Chase on another spectacular story/book.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the seventh in the series – and if you are a Montgomery fan then you will definitely enjoy this book. As well as Megan getting her happily ever after, we also catch up with Zach and Summer... previous beneficiaries of William Montgomery's matchmaking!
This time though, it is wife and sister-in-law who decide that they know how to find Megan a match... well really, they saw her with Alex at Zach's wedding two years ago and started plotting. Little did they know that, in fact, the two of them recognised their attraction to each other. Sadly, work and the small matter of living 3,000 miles apart came between them, but now Megan has moved to Portland too.
Megan has put a lot of pressure on herself to succeed and prove her father wrong about her abilities and has become very focussed on her performance. Moving to Portland and working for Zach is an attempt to make some changes. She knows that she is likely to see Alex but has no idea whether he has forgiven her neglect of him.
As we discover, Alex is still harbouring some serious annoyance at her behaviour. He does not understand how she could put work before a relationship, but he cannot deny that he still cares for her. As he gets to know her, he realises just how her priorities are skewed by her beliefs about work. He also knows that she is the one, so he makes some compromises and is patient. Megan is a lovely person, just rather lost, so it is both fun and very moving watching the two of them fall in love with each other.
They both have to deal with issues, and I have to say that Alex's relationship with Danny caused me to cry more than once. Beautifully written and so important to the whole story.
Another great match up – and surely Christian deserves his chance soon?

Sadly, I’m tapping out a 35% with this one...
I read romance novels, so clearly I’m a romantic at heart. But apparently I’m also a cynic, because starting out this book and discovering the main family - men included - are a bunch of matchmakers had me rolling my eyes. Confession: this is my very first Samantha Chase book. But I see her books all the time, so I decided to give her a chance. This book had me a little concerned from the beginning of the prologue. It didn’t get any better for me when chapter one began.
Sometimes you read a book and you could swear the hero, heroine, and supporting characters are actually real people. Other times they seem like plastic caricatures of people, and have me wondering if anyone would really act or talk like that. The latter is how I felt about the characters in this book. Much of the character development was revealed through awkward conversations - often by one character talking about another when that person wasn’t there. It just seemed an odd way to build a story, and I couldn’t muster up the interest to keep reading (especially when I have SO MANY other books to read right now).
I really wanted to like this book. I know Samantha Chase is a prolific, popular author - there is a whole shelf of her books (with multiple copies of most titles!) at my local library, so clearly the demand for her books is there. I love the covers of her books - they are romantic and sweet looking. And the plots seem lighthearted and fun. But I just couldn’t get into this story. Maybe it’s because I’m coming in so late in the series and thus not emotionally connected with anyone in the stories. However, I believe any single book in a good series should be able to stand on its own and pull a reader in and compel them to read ALL the books in that series. And this one didn’t. For whatever reason, this author’s writing style just doesn’t work for me. There’s nothing terrible about it, so maybe I’ll give another book by Ms. Chase a try sometime in the future.
I gave it four days and kept feeling like I had to read. That’s not how I want to feel about a book. So I’m moving on. And quite frankly, I’m a little proud of myself for getting over my “I start a book I must finish it” mentality. Life is too short to read a book that I’m not enjoying!
*thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review

This was my first book to read in this series. It was a sweet contemporary romance. The characters were very likeable. I would read more from this series.
