“You weren’t just my girl; you were my best friend. And I remember everything.”

Charming, easy and enjoyable—quite simply, that’s how I would describe Caught Up in a Cowboy.

I’ve read and loved many books by Jennie Marts, so I went into this one confident I was going to have a good time. And I did. Rock and Quinn’s relationship rekindles amid sparks of… something, and it was kind of addictive to see them come together.

And it was definitely addictive seeing this cowboy-slash-hockey player warm up to—and fall in love with—Quinn’s young son. I mean, is there anything swoonier than a big guy bonding with a little guy? Hardly.

Caught Up in a Cowboy is a light-hearted story that packs a little punch. Though I felt it went back and forth a little too much at times, I was more than pleased by the overall story—and the lovely ending.

If only there’d been an epilogue. No matter—it seems this is just the first of a new series, and with a little tease about one of Rock’s brothers piquing my interest, I’m confident I’ll be charmed again by this series in no time.

“You look like a woman who’s just been thoroughly kissed.”
“Not thoroughly enough.”

Caught Up in a Cowboy was such a fun, heartwarming story! I loved how quickly we jumped in and I found myself completely captivated by Quinn and Rock. Their back story, their family, and their run ins all had my full attention. And with moments of sexiness, heartache, and laughter all tied together, it made for such a charming book!

It didn’t matter how many sparkles of heat shot through her or how ridiculously muscled his arms were or how his offer of peace between them filled her heart with a secret longing of hope, the cold, hard truth was that he wasn’t back. Not really. He was back only for now.

Right from the start, Quinn and Rock met back up. It was hilarious, yet at the same time there was a lot of other emotions mixed in too. You see, Rock broke Quinn's heart 9 years ago. They were High School sweethearts who planned to spend their future together. But when Rock pursued his hockey career, he left Quinn in the dust. And with Quinn feeling bitter and upset, she had a one night stand which left her pregnant and alone. As years passed, Quinn and Rock ran into each other but it was always a tense and brief hello. But not anymore. Rock suffered an injury while playing for the NHL and he's back home on an extended break.

A thick chunk of regret settled in his gut, and he knew letting her go had been the biggest mistake of his life.

Through a fun turn of events, Rock found himself back in Quinn's life. And the chemistry between the two of them was definitely still there. You could feel it every time they were near each other. Even if Quinn still held her anger in a death grip, ha! And while I loved watching the tension between them build, I also loved how easily their friendship restarted. It was filled with honesty, teasing and it all felt so simple and heartfelt. Ohhh and I loved, loved, loved how quickly Rock and Max bonded. Max is Quinn's eight year old son and he was seriously the most adorable child ever. He made me laugh and smile so much. I loved how much heart he brought to the story! And while I watched them all interact, I started to imagine what they would be like. As a real family.

He picked up a loose strand of her hair and twisted it between his fingers. “You were the best part of my life, and for the past eight years, I feel like a piece of me has been missing. And that piece is you. I want you back in my life, Q.”

So while Quinn and Rock grew closer, I got Quinn's uncertainty. She'd been left and heartbroken by him in the past. And everyone knew that once Rock was healed, he was heading back to the NHL. Quinn tried her hardest to protect her heart, but Rock was persistent.... I loved that about him! Just you wait and see all that he does, sigh. But Rock definitely had some growing up to do and I loved how much he progressed as the story unfolded. He gained so much wisdom and insight being back home and I was so proud of him. It left me with a lot of faith, and I could easily see Quinn and Rock getting their happily ever after. Well that was until a different variable stepped in......the suspense was a lot of fun! I can't say anything more, other than I was impressed with how it all played out!

He gingerly set the necklace down and raised his hand to cup her cheek. “You still have it, you know. No matter where I’ve been, or what stupid decisions I’ve made, my heart has always belonged to you.”

Caught Up in a Cowboy was such an adorable story! There were a few cheesy moments in the beginning, but it was definitely warranted. All I can say is birthday party and pirates.....it made me laugh and smile. And if you're a fan of families playing an integral part in stories, you're in for a treat. I absolutely loved both of their families and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that their brothers will get their own stories down the road. So if you love second chance romance, with family thrown in the mix, definitely check out Caught Up in a Cowboy! It was such a cute story and I'm looking forward to the future books in this series!

Rock gave up on his past to score a brighter future. Quinn was a casualty of his pride, that left him with a ton of regret and her with a broken heart. But circumstances change and so do people. Will the maturity he lacked in the past, help him regain the heart he desires most? How do you mend a broken heart? By proving you deserve a second chance. Ms. Marts tickles the funny bone as she sets out to warm the heart. Caught up in a Cowboy shows the value of forgiveness and the healing power of love.

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Loved the banter and how strong the characters all were. The broken heart Quinn had to mend and how much Rock had matured to admit his one big mistake. Lovable Max to bring happy and fun moments together for both families. You cannot go wrong in picking this book up.

What a heartwarming second chance romance this proved to be, complete with a delightful eight year old, cowboys, a conman, injured hockey player and plenty of angst and turmoil to make it a real page turner - loved it! Rockford James has returned to his family ranch to recuperate after being badly injured  whilst playing ice hockey in the NFL. He left town nine years ago, rarely returning and left behind his high school sweetheart, Quinn Rivers. Heartbroken, soon after he left she had too much to drink and a one night stand that left her pregnant and she now has a lovely eight year old son, Max. Max is the one good thing to come out of the whole debacle and she loves him dearly. Now Rock is back, even if it is only for whilst he recovers. As their love rekindles, can they put the past behind them and move on to a future together? What about the father of Max? He's always denied Max is his offspring, but what happens when he comes back into their lives?

This is a story of family, friendship, and second chances. However, sometimes some people really don't deserve their second chance but working out who does and doesn't can be perplexing, especially when you're unsure of their motives! The characters are well developed and the story an emotional roller coaster with young Max as the focus of many indecisions as everyone strives to do their best for this special young man. There are incidents, accidents, attacks and even some time in court in this thoroughly enjoyable, emotively written story which is liberally sprinkled with both turmoil and humour. I have no hesitation in highly recommending it.

I requested and was given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Currently the Stanley Cup playoffs are happening so this couldn't be a better timed release. Home from an injury during a playoff hockey game Rock runs into his old girlfriend. But she's different, grown-up and a mother. So much has happened to them in the last eight years since Rock felt he was a hockey god. Can they get back to those old feelings? Yes, and it's amazing until another part of history returns. Second chance romances are difficult, I love it when it happens organically and all the right things come into place. Add in an adorable little boy with tons of curiosity and we have a new favorite book. I received my copy through Netgalley.

3.5 Stars- This is my second read of Jennie Marts and it won't be my last. She has taken the second chance troupe and given it a sports/western spin... with a woman worried to let herself love again. Both were young... and he made the mistake of thinking he was all that and a bag of chips when it came to starting his Hockey career... He left her high and dry.
She was heartbroken, acted out with a one night stand and came away with the love of her life... her son. The father is out of the picture, her young love is back... but for how long...and should she risk her heart again...

Jennie Marts has given her fans another terrific book. Rockford James is an NHL star on medical leave. A cheap shot by an opponent has him sitting out with a concussion. He's come home for the first stay of significant length since he dumped his high school sweetheart. It figures she'd be the first one he'd run into.

Quinn Rivers had her heart smashed, crushed & shattered by Rockford James after he walked away like all of the years & their promises meant nothing. Then she went & got drunk to forget him & ended up pregnant after a one night stand. The only thing good to come out if it was her son. Now Rockford is back & she's dismayed to realize her feelings haven't changed. Will he leave her behind again or can they make it this time?

I love these characters! Max is amazing! He added such depth & character to the storyline. Quinn is a strong, sexy mother that is putting concern for her son first. Rockford is a flawed star that has come to realize he screwed up with Quinn & wants to make amends. The plot pulled everything together & took a sharp turn with an unexpected encounter. Another great story from a terrific writer!

I'm a bit of an anomoly in that cowboy heroes are a bit hit or miss for me, but because this hero was also a professional hockey player, I figured it was worth the risk. And I was right! Caught Up in a Cowboy was my first read by this author, and I was completely charmed by the easy writing style, and the engaging storytelling.

I connected with Rock and Quinn quickly - it was almost impossible not to with that fun, quirky, and adorable opening scene. As far as second chance romances go, the chemistry in this one was spot on and I completely adored watching Rock win back his woman...and her son. Because hot hockey hero + adorable little boy? Y'all I am powerless against that combo.

I did get a little exasperated with the conflict in this one. I felt like the same issue kept repeating itself for a period of time and I was frustrated by the lack of communication or fight between Quinn and Rock. It felt a little predictable and it went on just a smidge too long for my taste, but luckily it in no way impinged upon my enjoyment of the inevitable happily ever after. I got all the swoon I was looking for, and so it was completely worth the bumpy ride.

In all, I was wholly satisfied with this sweet little love story. If it is the first in a new series, I will definitely be back for more!

Second Chance Romance! Rock and Quinn's story is fun, sweet, sexy and infuriating but I loved it. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters. They were relatable and had real life problems to deal with. The love and caring Rock showed to Quinn and Max was beautiful and when Rock stood up to protect them, I swooned!! If you a second chance romance fan you will love this story!

What can I say? I'm a sucker for cowboy romance... So when Rockford James came along, I had to read about him.

Rockford left his home and his high school sweetheart Quinn behind, when he had the chance to become a pro at ice hockey. What he didn't know, was that Quinn was broken hearted when he left and accidentally got pregnant, while trying to make Rockford jealous after the break-up. Now, nine years later, she has a beautiful son, Max, who is growing up without a father.

So, when Rockford comes back into town, Quinn really doesn't want anything to do with him. In a small town however, it is hard to avoid each other. And where Rockford is determined to show Quinn he was a stupid teenager back then, to abandon her the way he did, Quinn is determined to keep a distance. Because she still can't trust her heart, when it comes to Rockford. But now, she not only has to take care of her own heart, but also that of Max's. And because Max's father has broken the boy's heart often enough, she doesn't need a surrogate father, who will abandon them, as soon as the ice hockey season starts again.

Will Rockford be able to penetrate through the barriers that Quinn has laid around her heart? And what will happen if Max's dad suddenly reappears and wants to take over custody?

Find out for yourself in this wonderful read of Jennie Marts. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I hadn’t read a book by Ms Marts and am so glad I decided to give her a try. Because I absolutely loved this story.
The book centers around Rockford/Rock James and Quinn Rivers.
These two were best friends in their childhood and later sweethearts in HS. When he gets a scholarship and a chance to play hockey , he leaves Quinn behind thinking she wouldn’t want to leave town . Quinn is left heartbroken and after a one nightstand with a no good guy, she ends up pregnant.
Now an NHL star, Rock is home recuperating after an injury. Somehow they end up together, thinking to keep it light, since Quinn knows that she will be left once he recovers. But as they get more serious, a person from her past comes back to create problems.
It’s a story about second chances in love and in life. About realizing the priorities in life and giving love as adults another chance. It’s a story about family, hope and forgiveness.
A story that is engaging , with complex characters and promises of many more great stories in this series.
I was gifted this ARC copy by Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is my first read of this author. I was drawn to the title and description, hoping it was a sports romance. Although Rock is a pro hockey player, this really is about ranching and second chance love. Also, a great trope! Loved the history with Rock and Quinn. Truly best friends from a young age. I liked the slow build back to being friends again. Great surprise twist in the end. The only hope I kept wanting was that Quinn's son was actually Rock's. But, another time maybe.

Very interested to see what happens with Rock's brothers. Happy to keep reading this series.

This book was kinda wow. This author really knows how to write and create these characters I love.

Rockford and Quinn were neighbors growing up and were in love, except he dumped her at 16 to go after a hockey career. She then had a one night stand and ended up pregnant and now 8 years later has the cutest son Max. Rock meanwhile was a success but he always has loved Quinn though she hates him for dumping her. Now injured he is back home and he wants to be friends.

And that is what this story is about. Rock and Quinn become friends and fall for each other. But he is still playing hockey and she is still a country gal. So they have to grow up and figure out how to make it work.

This book was wonderfully written, plotted and I loved all the characters.

Caught Up in a Cowboy is a cute second chance love story. I found myself frustrated and kind of annoyed at our two main characters quite often. Overall I enjoyed the book, but it was fairly predictable. I felt like it was lacking a little something -- some kind of twist or excitement.
Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced copy.

RATING 4.5 STARS

Caught Up in a Cowboy is book one in the brand new series, Cowboys of Creedence by Jennie Marts. I have read several of Jennie’s books and never fail to fall in love with her characters. I was especially excited about this new series and it most definitely did not disappoint.

Rockford James and Quinn Rivers had grown up together, their ranches neighboring each other. They were high school sweethearts, each other’s first loves, first everythings. They knew each other so well, they could finish each other’s sentences, always knew what the other was thinking. Rock had an early on talent for ice hockey. As soon as he strapped on his first pair of skates, he knew it was where he belonged. So, it wasn’t a surprise that he was offered a hockey scholarship. He can blame it on being a dumb, immature kid, but his ego was bigger than his brain. He thought he had the world by the tail. That he was more important than this little town he grew up in, and that bigger things awaited him. So he left the love of his life behind when he went off to college.

Quinn had loved Rock with everything she had. He owned her heart, and then he broke her heart. She was young and stupid and thought she was getting even when she had a one night stand. She thought she could make him jealous and that he would come back. But instead, she ended up pregnant. That was nine years ago. Now she had an eight year old son, Max, who was the best thing in her world. He made it all worth it. She still lived on the ranch with her Dad and brother. Max’s father wants nothing to do with them. That’s fine with her. She thought she was doing fine, until Rock came back, bringing with him all those old feelings she thought she’d gotten over. It turns out, that she’d never really be over him, never really stop loving him.

“They said that forgiveness could set you free. Whoever the elusive ‘they’ were. But had they had their hearts broken by the guy they thought they were going to spend the rest of their lives with? It sounded so easy.”

Rock is now in the NHL and is one of his team’s best players. But he’s been injured and sent home to recuperate. He’s not that same kid that left here nine years ago. He has always known that giving Quinn up was the worst mistake of his life. Now is his chance to get her to forgive him, maybe give them a second chance. While getting to know Quinn again, he also had the chance to get to know her son, Max. He was a fantastic kid and he fell in love with him as much as he already was with his mother.

“You still have it, you know. No matter where I’ve been, or what stupid decisions I’ve made, my heart has always belonged to you.”

As Quinn and Rock spent time together, Quinn was slowly able to forgive Rock. But what happens when he’s able to go back to the team? Is there room in his life for them? Or will he leave them again, just like before? Now it’s not only her heart she has to think of but her son’s as well.

What a great start to this series! Little Max kind of stole the show for me. He was amazing. Rockford was everything you could hope for in a cowboy/hockey star. Sexy, swoony, sweet, especially with Max. But also he has the temper to go with it. Don’t cross him and ESPECIALLY don’t hurt the people he loves. Quinn is doing her best to hang on, raising her son, helping with the ranch. She had long since given up on finding love again, especially with Rock. Will these two get their second chance at love? Or will this just be a short reminder of what they could have had before real life returns? I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to see what comes next with this series. I loved both of these families and the ways the two ranches have come together. I especially hope to get some glimpses into Quinn and Rock’s lives in future books!

After being on the receiving end of a cheap shot on the ice Rockford James heads home to the family ranch to heal and get his mind right... and possibly re-unite with the woman who stole a piece of his heart years ago. But that maybe easier said than done, since he chose his love for hockey over his love for her, and it broke her heart, and ruined their friendship. Minutes after arriving in town he comes face to face with his girl, when he spots her alongside the road, pedaling a child's bicycle, in a pirates costume... he knows there is a good story there, and if he is lucky maybe she will enlighten him!

Through the years Quinn Rivers has secretly kept tabs on the man who owns a part of her heart, the day he left her and their impending future for a career on the ice she was heartbroken, and unsure she'd ever be able to forgive him for it. But when he shows up back in town, ready to mend fences, and steps up to play a pirate for the day, her resolve starts to slip a little, and forgiving him doesn't seem so far off. He wants to rekindle their friendship, and maybe more, but she has her reservations about the "more" part!

Caught Up in a Cowboy is a delightful second chance love story that is destined to melt the hearts of romance readers, with it's heartfelt and humorous story line you just can't go wrong with this one! From the first page Ms. Mart's endearing characters will lure you in, and have you completely mesmerized, they are a can't miss duo! Their banter will have you giggling, their intimate moments will make you blush, and their tender moments will have you fighting back the tears... and it's all downright amazing! Quite an impressive start to a new series, it had everything I look for a in a romance story, and so much more, now I can't wait to get my hands on the next one. Highly recommend!!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and voluntarily read and reviewed.

Caught Up in a Cowboy is a mix of my two favourite contemporary genres – Sport and Cowboy; so what more could I possibly want?

This story was a very easy read, with great characters, world development and simple ebb and flow to the writer’s style which was delightful.

A Fabulous first in the series for me, so I’ll definitely be reading more from Ms Marts.

It is second chance love between teenage love Rock who is now famous hockey player and now single mom Quinn. Rock left Quinn years ago to persuade his hockey career so she made a stupid mistake and become a single mom. After years Rock is back in hometown to recuperate from injury and old flame comes to life. Both Rock and Quinn are interesting characters and is a little bit funny now he wants her she doesn't then she wants him but he wants to do the right thing. And there is also another problem biological father of her sons suddenly appears in Quinns live. Both Quinn and Rock are a bit annoying but I liked the end and that they come to compromise to be together.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Oh Rock is such a complicated character who grows so much over the course of this book. It is so good to see how a charcter can grow from the self absorbed only really thinking of his needs in the beginning of the book to seeing how her was all about Quinn and her son by the end of the book. Oh goodness when they were by the lake and she broke out the old necklace Rock gave her when they were kids it was the sweetest moment. Then when he snuck into her window and then left in the morning and ran into his mother sneaking out of the house too so funny! I also loved that Quinn got to drive the sports car, I mean that takes a lot of trust for a man like rock to hand over the keys to his Porsche. The whole book you are rooting for them to get back to gether to find a way to move past the past and find a future together.
