This is the case of double standards. You have Kristy Stone, Officer Stone to everyone in her hometown. She has wanted to be a detective since the age of ten.

Not making her family too happy. They all wanted her to take over the family B & B at their apple orchard. You see their family was one of the original founding families in the area of Cedar Falls. Her ancestors founded it and planted the apple trees in Stoneridge Apple Orchard on the peninsula.

The only one of her brothers really supported her choice is Nathan and that meant the world to her. One day she is ordered by her Chief to ticket a tourist for crowding the line in the parking lot because the Chief’s wife couldn’t pull her SUV in. Turns out Don Cooper owned the car. He is one sexy hot guy whose sister has just moved into town over his best friend’s bakery.

She has to ticket him again for allowing his friend to talk him into parking his car where it didn’t belong. But when she and her brother go to celebrate her one year on the force it turns out Don pulls up the stool next to her. After noticing her in the sexy outfit she is wearing he also sees she is surrounded by men that are appearing to be to chicken to ask her to dance.

This could be his big chance. Because the three guys hovering around her but none were brave enough to talk to her or ask her out. So, he buys her a drink, talks her up, and then asks her to dance. Then, when they can’t keep their hands off each other takes her outside where he asks “Your place or mine.” One thing leads to another.

Then she finds out he may be a suspect in a theft case. But also, a very low priority. Also, though that word got out he stayed the night. Her ass of a brother Lance the mayor, calls her out basically calling her a whore. So, she tells him it didn’t happen because he’s gay.

Okay, now she’s a liar. This just seems to make the situation worse. See where it goes from here. This book is filled with a mystery of stolen items of who done it. Was it the new guy dating the chosen golden girl with four overprotective brothers? You’ll have to find out on your own. Let me tell you this will keep you guessing because the whole town meddles in everything.

Kristy Stone, 23, has been on the police force for 1 year in the very small, very busybody town she grew up in.

Sheldon (Don) Cooper is a wedding planner. He arrives in town to help his sister move in. He’s an easy going extrovert with lots of patience. He’s very secure in who he is and what he wants for his life.

The following is just one example of the many knuckle dragging Neanderthals in this town. One of her brothers says to her:
“‘Have you forgotten I’m the mayor of this town? People talk. The last thing I need is my younger sister spreading her legs for every tourist because she can’t snag a steady boyfriend.’”
OMG! What a total douche! If my brother spoke to me like this I’d rip him a new one! Does Kristy take offense and stick up for herself? No! Instead she throws Don under the bus (again!) by inferring he’s gay. This is not the first time she appears spineless. I kept waiting and waiting for her to put all the people who kept insulting and harassing her in their place. She’s more concerned with what other people think of her.

Kristy has only been with the P.D. for a year and they are thinking about letting her move up to detective already?! Not to mention some of her actions are questionable during her investigation.

I could never understand what Don saw in Kristy. He was too quickly forgiving of her transgressions. She has some major character flaws and I never grew to like her.

Kristy Stone is rapidly approaching her 1st year anniversary. Her lifelong dream has been to become a detective.

She gets a call from her boss to ticket some joker who parked his vehicle too close to the line and his wife can't park in front of the store. The Chief hints that if she handles this problem and gives an actual ticket, he may put her name up for consideration of becoming a detective.

The guy (Don) who doesn't know how to park a car is hotter than an Arizona summer. There's a strong attraction between the two of them. But he's only going to be in town a short while and Kristy is not adverse to a one-night stand.

But then she learns, as her best friend's maid of honor, Don is her friend's wedding planner.

And then there's the matter of the theft of a very expensive bracelet.... and guess who the prime suspect is....

This is a fast entertaining read full of sass and vinegar. Kristy and Don interact with each other so well, so full of humor, even love. Don is even great with Kristy's older brothers...all 4 of them. Being a very small town, there are always those nosy neighbors that can't wait to gossip about the rookie cop and the man in her life.

There are moments of graphic intimacy, but it's well-written. This is more of a love story than an erotic novel.

Many thanks to the author / Netgalley for the digital copy of this romantic comedy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This was a very enjoyable read. I like that the author went outside the box and switched gender roles with their jobs. Kristy is a cop and Don is a wedding planner. Both in a field that leans more to the opposite gender.

As much as I agree with the moral of the story that we all should be free to choose to do what makes us happy, I gotta admit it did seem strange that a straight guy would want to be a wedding planner. It took a bit of getting used to for me but what helped is that Don was pure Alpha male.

This was a mix of funny, serious and romantic. It's not a story that will blow you away but a fun read when you want lighthearted. It's well written and I will be reading more from this author. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Cute, sassy and sweet. You can't beat a small town cop romance. I love that Kristy is the cop and Don is the wedding planner. It made this so much more endearing and gave it so much more heart. Kristy is set to solve the crime spree that has started up so she can make detective. Don is panning her best friends wedding and the sparks start to fly after Kristy writes him his first ticket. A wonderful read and I will be checking out more from R.C. Mathews.

Interesting career choices for both of the main characters. Cute meet! Challenging mystery. Family issues add to the humor and intrigue. I skipped over the intimate details, but did enjoy the story.
