The author offers her take on taking love of kitties as inspiration to be more mindful and content. There are many suggestions for how to enjoy one’s cat companion. In addition, there are absolutely lovely photos and lots of information on felines.

Those who do not melt at the sight of a kitten may skip this title. Others may well enjoy it.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This was a sweet little book chock full of kitty pics. While I didn't find the info about cats particularly surprising or the exercises particularly illuminating, it was a fun way to spend an afternoon.

This is definitely a book to catch cat-lovers' attention. From the history of cats, through to cat cafes, and ways to make your cat happy, there's something for every cat lover :).

I have 6 cats and there is a reason for it. Once upon a time I was going to go to the pound to get a dog, a friend offered a stray kitten instead. Whereas dogs are balls of energy there is something zen and grounding about a cat. That kitten is now 14 years old and he still makes me melt when he purrs. Purrfection is spot on in most of its claims.

First of all, I would like to thank Schiffer Publishing Ltd. for giving me a copy of this book (via netgalley) in return for an honest review.

It is a book that not only has curiosities about man's best friends (prepared for the haters to come to say that it is the dogs), but also gives tips on games, DIY and yoga poses, which made the book a very cute reading.

It begins with a brief summary of the history of cats over time and their relationship with humans. I liked to learn about the history of cats, but I hated to know that they were considered to be Satan's work and burned at the stake like the (supposed) witches.

The book introduces us to the superpowers of cats, gives us tips, curiosities and so many, but so many interesting things that made me love this book from the bottom of my heart!

Plus, the whole book has really cute photos of our little friends.

One thing I found very interesting, and I had no idea it existed, was the chapter that talked about cafes where you can go spend time with cats! It's kind of a therapy!

I also discovered that there are apps to improve the well-being of these little friends!

This book is a compilation of (almost) everything you need to know about cats. And I do not say everything because to know everything about them you need to really love a cat and you will learn that: cats are the most wonderful beings in the world.

If you need a book that connects a great knowledge about cats: this is the book for you!

It is a must read book for all who love these cute little fellows.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

How could I resist this book. I adore cats (though I am allergic), and I love books that combine cats with balance and happiness (I read a few already).

However, it took me ages to get through this one. Because reading on a PC tires me out, and this one could only be read through my PC. Secondly, it was just a bit boring and totally not what I had expected from reading the blurb. I had expected something like several other books I read the past year. (Funny) Cat behaviour and how we could sort of do the same as humans to achieve balance, relaxation and maybe look at the world a bit differently. However a large chunk is about the history of cats, how to take care of a cat, purring. The purring at least has one exercise that seems to bring forth mindfulness.

It isn't until page 49 (of 96) that we finally get some stuff about connecting, relationship with your cat, exercises. Then it was finally getting good. Don't get me wrong, information about cats is fun, but I have already read tons of books about cats in my life, I want something different. I came here for happiness and achieve balance and exercises, not to get yet another talk about how cats work and the history of them.

I loved the Cyber Cat: Cat Online 2.0 chapter. That one was definitely my favourite. How I wish I could get a cat. I would so love to download all those apps, or find out what my cat is up to when he is out and about.

Fashion: A shirt that is just white or a solid colour, that costs 20 to 25 dollars. What the hell? You can buy a good shirt for ~5 euros (so about 6 dollars) that will last forever (believe me, I have had to throw away shirts because I wanted something new and they didn't want to die :P). Unless they meant all the materials together, but then they shouldn't put: "depending on the T-shirt".
But those shirts and other things were fun, and I do want to try them out.

The book ends with some useful information, cafe's, toilet seats, health insurance, etc.

The book is also stuffed with all sorts of adorable cat photographs, and I was just awwwing every time one popped up.

But yeah, given that it took about half of the book to get to the freaking point, aka what the blurb promises, and that it was still very basic, I am not going to rate this one very high. 2.5 stars.

I learned some facts about cats and cat-owning that I have not seen elsewhere, so I am sure that my students would learn things, too. It is great that it covers cat history, pet-owning, and more in the same book,

I love this book! It is the "purrfect" book about cats! It talks about cats, the different breeds, their place in society, etc. There are lots of fun facts, too. And quizzes! One section even talks about cats "superpowers"! Of course, if you are owned by a cat or two, you already know these things! The pictures are so beautiful, too. Cats and kittens. There are exercises you can do with your cat (yes, it is possible, as I have a cat that would do these with me). Crafts you can make for your cat. And so many other things! I have had cats almost my whole life, and some of the facts even I did not know, but was tickled to find out. This is a book that a cat lover could read over and over. It is easy to read and fun. It is not very long, easy to read in one sitting, even with fawning over the pictures of all of the beautiful kitties! I recommend this book 1000%!

This is quite simply a book about cats for people who love cats. Purrfection has a little bit of everything from cute cat photos and facts about the history of cats to crafts and links to download kitty fun online (apps and audio of cat purrs) This book would be a perfect gift for a cat lover or someone bringing home their first feline companion.

Purrfection is a quick read at 96 pages. Every page has a photo or illustration on it. I enjoyed the section with yoga poses that people could do with their cat. But, I expect my four cats would all freak out at being picked up like that. The wide variety of information is fun to read. I not only kitty companions, but I foster for the local humane society as well, so I enjoyed every little tidbit of information about kitties. :) The photos are cute and engaging, and the cover is eye catching.

An enjoyable read! And definitely a great gift idea for any cat owner or new adopter!

My littlest foster kitten, Little Orphan Annie, gives this book a 5 Toe-bean rating. She sat on my desk and "helped'' me read by batting at all the kitty pictures with her paws and meowing in her little squeaky way. She is a tortoiseshell kitty....and torties always speak their mind. Even tiny ones. She was definitely engaged with all the beautiful photos of cats. I'm not sure she really read the text though.....maybe skimmed it. :) I did not try yoga with her. Torties do not appreciate yoga. I figure reading time together is about as zen as she is going to get.

**I voluntarily read a review copy of this book from Schiffer Publishing via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are entirely my own. All meows and feline commentary are totally Little Orphan Annie's idea, too. Meow. Dogs stink. (Annie made me add that last bit).**

This is a beautiful well researched and wonderfully presented book about cats for new and old owners. The author covers all types of topics including food, liter boxes, toys and cat emotions. There are even some DIY cat toys to make. It is a delightful book! The author sets out to explain things about cats and cat owners that will improve the quality of life for both. Beautiful photography as well as drawings help illuminate the text. The author discusses different cat breeds and many of the newer trends such as toilet training and cat cafes. There are step by step instructions for the DIY projects.

If you’re a cat lover, you will probably enjoy this charming little book. It’s filled with adorable cat photos, interesting facts and trivia (loved the explanation of why cats are drawn to boxes), and fun suggestions for how to bond with your cat.

As a nice bonus, it includes a link to a website where you can download an entire album worth of sound clips of cats purring. I don’t know if you can get as much healing from a recording of a purr as you can from an actual purring cat, but if you don’t have a purring cat handy, this is a really nice substitute. I would have loved to have had this with me when I was traveling a lot for work and missing my cat!

I laughed at the section on yoga poses you can do with your cat, because my cat has always wanted to participate when I do yoga around her. There were also some fun suggestions for simple toys you can make for your cat with found objects.

Apparently cats don’t want to be left out of the Information Age, because this book includes several websites and apps that the author recommends for your cat, such as selfie apps or hunting games that cats can use by themselves. One game allows you to play against your cat, assuming you don’t mind the risk of scratches on your screen. There are also cat-to-human and human-to-cat translation apps and apps for video chats and remote play sessions with your cat while you are not at home.

If you’re crafty, there’s a section of patterns for decorating clothes, tote bags, and notebooks with cat images.

I think this would make a great gift for any cat lover or a nice way to treat yourself if you love cats. The book is available from the publisher at https://www.schifferbooks.com/purrfection-how-to-achieve-balance-and-happiness-through-your-cat-6407.html.

Schiffer Publishing provided me with an ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review. Because I have not seen the final published version, I cannot comment on the final editing and formatting. However, the ARC I reviewed was neatly formatted, and I did not notice any editing problems. I wasn’t too fond of some of the fonts chosen for headings (such as a pink script that I found a little bit hard to read), but that’s a matter of personal preference.

My kitty Gracie and I agree: Sophie Macheteau’s new book on everything feline is Purrfection! From the gorgeous photos of the most beautiful kitties, which make you melt, to the fascinating history of cats, facts about the species, and kitty quotes and poems. You can do yoga with your cat, download audio files with purring, use patterns for cat accessories, and discover related websites and apps. A Purrfect gift for every cat lover ... but make sure you get a copy for yourself first. Five Enthusiastic Paws Up!

Thanks to the author, Schiffer Publishing Ltd. and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine.

This is a cute little book of about 100 pages that covers all things cat-related. I've loved cats for many years and I learned new information about the history of human-cat relationships, cat health, and various ways to bring additional happiness to my cats' lives. The book is visually pleasing with cute graphics. I would definitely recommend to anyone that loves cats or who is interested in getting a cat.

This is so cute! Who doesn't love kitties?! While this isn't my usual sort of book, I do love cats, and this book provides plenty. It was a great mindless bit of happiness on the page.

Purrfection by Sophie Macheteau is a cute little book with lots of adorable kittie photos. This book delves briefly into the history of cats as domesticates, and investigates ways we can use our furry companies to de-stress.

Now, if you already have a cat, you'll know first hand the power of purrs. Having my furbaby curl in my lap and start buzzing a storm is a near instant release of tension. This book looks at other ways to utilize your furry companion, such as yoga with kitty. This, I think, requires a more compliant cat than my Persephone! There are kitty crafts too! There are sections on cat behaviour and language, and suggested apps for your cat. Persephone had no interest in these, though our two kittens surely did! A must have for any cat lover.

***Many thanks to Netgalley and Schiffer Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Purrfection is a cute book and a definite must have for cat lovers.  It is a departure from the standard photo/care book, focusing more on how to pamper ourselves and our cats.  It is a fun book to read, with plenty of sweet pictures and illustrations. It emphasizes the importance of slowing down, and focusing on developing the bond between you and your pet.  As most cat lovers know, there is something special that occurs as you sit quietly cuddling a soft, warm, purring cat. Interaction is the key to happiness. Of course, as Sophie Macheteau notes, there are plenty of products, websites and apps that can help us.

While reading Purrfection isn’t guaranteed to make you happy.  It will make you smile, and give you some good ideas.

This is definitive book for all cat lovers ! I loved this book and went out and bought a copy right away. Having owned cats all my life and loving cats this is the ultimate book for every cat lover.
The author gives a very complete history of cats. Where did they come from and when did they become domesticated? There are many misconceptions about cats in their history and you will learn of them .The history is fascinating. The author chose many facts here that even I did not know.

Other things you learn in this book include their ability to see in the dark, herbs are appealing to cats. (It’s not just catnip.) What plants are harmful to cats. Nutrition information, feeding and litter box health. The book is packed with good advice. What sorts of foods to avoid giving your cat, ways to make your cat happy and healthy. You even learn how to interpret a cat’s various meows. As any cat owner knows, a cat has a big vocabulary and they are addressed here. There is a section all about purring. Why do cats do it and what benefits does it have for cats, how does it affect them. So much information here that will help us all relate better to our feline families.
There is advice on how to connect with your cat on a deeper level. Do yoga with your cat. Learn how to interpret their various body language . Poems about cats and references to websites are here as well as podcasts. Did I mention the gorgeous stunning cat photos throughout !
No cat lover can resist this book ! I loved it !
This book was amazing. There are a lot of details. I recommend buying a hard copy so you can refer to it time and time again and highlight many passages and reference materials. It has enhanced my knowledge of cats and my relationship with my cat. Very well done and i highly recommend this book.
I received a ARC which does not influence my review.

As a cat lover already, I know how comforting holding my cat can be. :) Purrfection was a loveable, insightful book on how it's a real feeling to be calmed by cats and not just in my imagination! This is a really good book that I have already gone back and read over more than once.
