This steamy romance also packs a lot of action into a small package. I liked David and Swan, and their relationship from casual hooks up to a full blown relationship didn't feel too rush until maybe the end of the book. This book was a lot more pro-military than I expected, but I guess what can you expect from a story starring a Navy Seal. If you're looking for a quick, steamy read, and don't mind some cheesy drama at time, then definitely pick up this book.

Hmmmmm.

This book had so much potential but it fell flat for me. The characters are okay but I wish I felt more for them. Since I couldn't connect with the characters, I couldn't care less about their romance, though I could objectively say that Swan and David were cute together. The suspense part was also meh for me.

Kind of disappointed with this one, though I might see if I could find the other books in this series in the library because I really liked David's teammates.

Swan Jamison has returned to Key West after living with her mother in Jamaica for the last few years of her life. She returns to the place where her father and mother lived before her father passed away, and is determined to run her successful business from there. David is a Navy SEAL sent by Swan's godfathers to her store, as she is accused of doing illegal things out of her shop, and they want to clear her name. He doesn't mean to fall in love with his mission, but he can't help himself once he gets to know her. Will Swan still accept him if she finds out about his true occupation?

I sped through this book almost entirely in one sitting, and I loved every minute of it. Swan was such a unique character, being a biracial military kid, and yet she was strong despite having lost both of her parents at a fairly young age and having to make do for herself. With or without David, I still wanted her to be successful in her business and find happiness in life.

Lately, I have always been finding problems with the main love interests in these romance novels. When I read this one, I actually didn't see anything wrong with David. Sure, he didn't tell Swan about his occupation right away, but he was still a good person in general. He didn't have any dark secrets or any hidden desires for their relationship. He was pretty up-front with everything that he did with her, and I loved him for that.

The setting of this book was lovely, in beautiful Key West with tons of waterfront areas. This drew me in even more because I wanted to be there with the characters. I would have loved the story in any setting, but this one was just especially perfect.

The character development was also lovely, as Swan and David get closer, learning more about each other. Both have a collection of things in their past that they love to reminisce about, and one of my favorite parts of the story was just seeing them talk for hours.

I really had no complaints about this book, it was just perfect to me. I wish more romance novels were like this, rather than having the male love interest be problematic just for plot padding. Also, this was a diverse romance with a biracial girl. Not only has she faced adversity from her father's side of the family, she has to get over her fear of getting rejected by her new love interest's friends and family. This is a large amount of the drama in this novel, Swan just learning to accept herself even though others have been so adamant about not accepting her.

I would recommend this book to lovers of romance novels who are looking for a new diverse adult romance with an independent female main character and "clean" drama-free male character.

I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary review.

Story 4.0 stars
Writing 2.5 stars
Characters 3.5 stars

Some of the wording I found jilted me from the story. The plot was a good one, but the over used tropes are exhausting at this point. I’m not a newbie, but if I were this would be a solid 4 Star read. I think I must move on for the newer readers. Loyal readers have read it all before. With every story it’s the same formula with new names and a different plot.

I was somewhat disappointed with this story. There was something lacking in the writing that just did not seem like Brenda Jackson. I can’t put my finger on it, but the storyline was just so-so.

This story is a mix of mystery and romance. The story is steady and I enjoyed the camaraderie between David and his SEAL mates. They certainly backed him when he needed them.
All in all, another solid read from Mrs Jackson.

If you are familiar with Brenda Jackson’s novels, you probably know Bane Westmoreland. Bane is a Navy SEAL and has a number of close friends who he considers his brothers. Since he reunited with his childhood love, Crystal, his friends have followed suit and found a love of their own. In An Honorable Seduction, his friend David Holloway aka Flipper is up next.

Flipper is sent to Key West, per his Commanders requests to help clear their goddaughter’s name as there are suspicions that she is involved in selling government secrets to China.

Swan Jamison is a local jewelry shop owner in Key West. When Flipper first sees images of her, he knows she’s an attractive woman. However, he knows what his job is and is determined to make that his first priority. Seeing her in person is much different though and once he lays eyes on her, his top-secret mission becomes more complicated.

As with any Brenda Jackson novel, we get a great sense of camaraderie and family. The process of uncovering who was truly at fault for selling secrets was intriguing and I liked seeing Flipper in his element. Stakes were high and it was great to see his friends come to help him as well.

I liked Flipper and Swan individually, however, I didn’t necessarily believe they fell in love. They had chemistry, sure, but it all seemed a bit superficial for both of them until we got to the very end, and even then I was still not completely sold. There were a lot of secondary characters in this novel and at times it got confusing to keep up with everyone. Swan had three godfathers who she referred to as Godpop 1, Godpop 2, and Godpop 3. I wished we would have known them by names as there were times I had no clue who she was talking about. This would have been made it a lot easier.

Ultimately, An Honorable Seduction had the love affair we come to expect from Jackson along with betrayal and great suspense. It was nice getting an update on the other SEALs. While this book can definitely be read as a standalone, if you haven’t read the other Brenda Jackson novels featuring Bane and the SEALs, I would recommend doing so.

An Honorable Seduction by Brenda Jackson is a sexy and entertaining romance featuring a Navy SEAL who falls for the woman at the center of his latest assignment. When David Holloway is tasked to find out whether his Commanding Officer's goddaughter Swan Jamison has been trading secret documents with a foreign country, he's ready to take on the mission. In the beautiful Florida Keys, he has an easy excuse to visit Swan's jewelry shop with his mother's birthday coming up, and it's the perfect way to strike up an acquaintance. He just doesn't expect to be so attracted to Swan!

Swan has learned the hard way that men can keep secrets so she's rightfully wary when David seems too good to be true. Handsome, well mannered and friendly, he says he'll be in town for a few weeks only on business and would like to take her out if she's willing. She is, but knows it's best to keep her feelings in check since he won't be around for long. As they spend time together, they indulge in an affair, knowing there is a time limit to their relationship. But when Swan finds out David's true purpose in being there, will it put an end to the real feelings they are developing for each other?

This is my first time reading a Brenda Jackson romance and I definitely plan to pick up more of her backlist! David is a dedicated and conscientious SEAL, so he tries very hard not to lie to Swan when he meets her even as he must keep his true identity a secret to determine if she's guilty of espionage. It becomes clear pretty quickly that she's being set up and there a few possibilities of who is responsible so David must investigate these while developing a friendship, and more with Swan. Because the romance is set in Key West, there is a timely mention of recent hurricane destruction and how that has affected the island and businesses like Swan's.

Swan is half Jamaican on her mother's side. Her grandparents disowned her father when he married her mother, and she's alone with no family to speak of since both her parents have since passed away. Because of this she has some worry as to how David feels about mixed race relationships, and how his parents would react to one (even though she knows it's supposed to be a short term fling). David makes it clear that his family would welcome anyone he brought home with open arms. Plus some of his closest friends (teammates, though he can't tell her that) are black. His sincerity puts Swan at ease, and she finds it harder and harder to keep her feelings about him in check. They share some sexy love scenes that deepen their emotional connection.

From the moment David first sees Swan he's smitten, and when he realizes she's innocent of the charges, he's determined to prove it. There are some action packed scenes and surprises later in the story as the real person responsible for the espionage and framing of Swan is revealed. Swan must decide if what she feels for David can withstand his deception. After a bit of a rough patch they get their well deserved happy ending, and a sweet epilogue. With genuinely likable characters and an interesting plot and setting, An Honorable Seduction is well worth the read.

Another amazing, fun, sexy read from Brenda Jackson. Keep them coming! I need heroines who look like me and sexy heroes who love their woman!

From the moment I opened An Honorable Seduction, I knew I wouldn’t be able to put it down. Utterly Captivating!

David aka Flipper is member of a special Seal unit, sexy , loyal and loves deeply. David’s vacation home is about to take a U turn in more ways than one. Can he keep it just an assignment? When temptation is placed in his path, anything is possible.

Swan is a brave lady, having to deal with a lot she still loves deeply. Swan is in for a few shocks when a few things come to light about her life. Will she be brave enough to push through? She has many of strong men to stand with her.

Ms. Jackson did a wonderful job with these two characters, their heart, compassion and love for their country so many amazing layers. David (Flipper) and Swan have heat without a doubt, but in the end can that be enough to heal the hurt? Swan has lost so much, so why did she just think having a fling with David was even possible?

Supporting characters are from the previous books one the series and a few new ones. I like when an author makes time to reconnect us with the other characters and give little updates. Bane, Viper, Coop and MAC are just as wonderful as they were before. There is a few characters I would like to see have a story, Candy and Jamila.
As the plot goes Mrs. Jackson introduces us to yet another one of Bane’s seal team members, Flipper. I am excited to finally get to this story.

Summer loving will soon be upon us. The days are warming up, the nights are getting hotter and it is at such times that every reader’s mind turns towards the ultimate vacation accessory: the perfect beach read. An Honorable Seduction, with its Florida beachside location, talk of cruise ships and descriptions of dates at seaside restaurants and bars makes a nice launch to the summer reading season.

Lt. David Holloway is looking forward to some down time when he gets called into his commander’s office. While the rest of his SEAL team is on vacation, the brass wants David to look into an espionage case in Key West. The daughter of one of their own is being accused of selling secrets to the Chinese. His commander knows the girl personally and doesn’t believe it, but the evidence seems to point towards treason.

David is given extremely lax parameters for the job and isn’t sure how to find out just what’s going on. What he does know five minutes after meeting Swan Jamison is that he wants her with a capital W. Long, slim legs. Curly copper brown hair. Cocoa colored skin covering one of the most beautiful forms he has ever seen – the woman is gorgeous and everything he never knew he needed.

Swan is surprised by her reaction to the good-looking guy in her store. She lives in Key West and has seen plenty of handsome men before but something about this one really captures her attention. Maybe it’s the broad shoulders or piercing blue eyes. Whatever it is, she hasn’t had this reaction to a man in a long time – but she’s glad she’s having it now.

While David enters her shop planning to buy some of her custom-made jewelry, get the lay of the land and get out, his visceral reaction to her makes him change his plans. He invites Swan to have dinner with him, knowing he’s taking a risk, but pretty sure it’ll be worth it. Soon they are having dates filled with food, drinks, fun, laughter, and conversation. Both of them step out of their comfort zones in response to the heat sizzling between them. They have so much going for them. Except the truth. David’s not only lying, he’s lying about something really big, really dangerous and something that might just get them both killed.

A lot of times when I read a book about instant attraction I don’t buy it. Too often it feels like an easy way to jump start a romance between disparate characters. However, something about this one worked for me. Maybe it was that David and Swan also had so much else in common, but I felt the early sexual interest in this story was handled perfectly.,

I also liked that the two aren’t controlled by that attraction. It’s there from the start, but no careless actions take place as a result. When David asked Swan to dinner, she doesn’t hand out her personal details and they meet in public several times before she is ever alone with him. They get to know each other and build a relationship before having sex, something I always like in a love story. They discuss some of the issues between them, such as their concerns about interracial dating, not excessively but enough to show the characters understand the challenges they might face. I also liked that they went on dates. A lot of contemporary romances are about hanging out with friends and getting to know each other in a group, then hooking up, all without really spending alone time in a fun, social manner. These two have actual dates, which was refreshing.

The mystery is handled well. It’s a typical Harlequin suspense plot, which means it’s low on reality, but the author does a good job of keeping it in the background while her romance shines in the foreground.

It’s rare that this happens but I liked these two as a couple almost more than I liked them as individuals. It isn’t just how well the sexual interest that sparks between them is handled but the fact that they become much more relatable when they’re together. David is almost too focused and macho and, in some ways, wooden when he’s away from Swan but when he’s with her, he becomes the kind of guy most people know: fun, flirty, sincere, and genuine. Swan is almost too perfect but with David we see her vulnerable, open, comfortable and sweet. These two really are better together.

Few books are perfect and this one has a few flaws that kept me from awarding a higher grade. The author occasionally lapses into info-dumps and stilted dialogue which is likely to pull the reader out of the story. And while I know it is virtually a rule of romance fiction featuring military men to include cute nicknames, David’s moniker of Flipper just about drove me nuts. I found it very distracting every time it was used.

I smiled a lot while reading An Honorable Seduction. It’s a light, primarily happy book that tells the love story of a sweet, charming young couple. It’s a great beach read or nice way to while away a sunny spring afternoon.

I had such high hopes when I requested this book from NetGalley. A great romantic suspense with Navy SEALs? My catnip. Unfortunately I was disappointed in the execution, silly names, and frankly, the sex scenes.

The pros: Just as I was about to give up on this novel, the adventure and mystery aspects got better. Flipper saving the day was fun and sounded sexy. I got a satisfying HEA, unfortunately I was only satisfied because the book was over at last.

The cons: I hate to give a scathing review but this book just didn’t do it for me and it started with the sex. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy gratuitous sex scenes, graphic sex scenes, sweet sex scenes, believe me I’ve read it all. What I don’t enjoy, is comical sex scenes (in a bad way). I don’t really even know how to explain how weird it is except to leave a few quotes:

“His mind and body were in sync and a rare sexual aura was overtaking him.”

“He knew she was coming again and, dammnit to hell, so was he. Marveling at such a thing, he tightened his hold on her.” Yup, the hero just came twice in 5 seconds. I’m pretty darn positive that’s not possible.

More cons: Swan (yes that’s her real name) has three godfathers that are only distinguished by a number (Godpop 1, Godpop 2, Godpop 3) which makes everything confusing because they are all characters in the book. It made their characterization hazy at best. I need actual names please. This is a very short novel. Less than 300 pages, and we were reminded of two things, Flipper (yes, he has dolphins tattooed all over him) is a SEAL and Swan is drop-dead gorgeous. The constant talk about Swan’s beauty made it seem like she had very little depth. I have many other critiques but I will leave it

Overall, this author was new to me and maybe her writing style just isn’t for me. If you can suspend your disbelief for a while and let yourself get lost in a truly fantasy/unrealistic love story, then by all means pick this one up. If you’re looking for any correlation to real-life romance, or even relatable romance, this one is a skip.

A riveting, spellbinding, seductive story with a touch of suspense, and an abundance of romance.
I have said it before, and I do not mind saying it again, Brenda Jackson is a masterful storyteller who seducers the mind while twining the tale of intriguing, lovable characters who are finding their soulmates, finding their destinies, and willing to fight for the love growing in their hearts, minds, and souls. I absolutely love her stories and the mix of the sensual, the sweet, and the dash danger.
David Holloway, well, he is as honorable as they come, a SEAL in a family of SEALs. His brothers, his father, they all are part of the elite group of military, and they serve with pride and with love for their country. On a mission from his commanders David, aka Flipper, meets Swan Jamison, and the attraction is immediate, sizzling hot, smoldering even, and the last thing the mission needs.
Swan Jamison is not looking for a man, especially not interested in a military man or interracial dating. She is a beautiful, smart, talented lady. The jewelry she makes, the way it was described, made me want to travel to the Keys and find if there is a real-life 'Swan' out there... Swan has been used before, she has been betrayed, and rejected by her father's family. She does not about give her heart lightly, but there is something in David that makes her trust him, something that makes her open her heart to him without reservations.
I love how Swan owned who she is, stood for what she believed for, and had an open heart to see the big picture in the case of espionage David was investigating. I respected her hesitance with David because of how her own relatives had acted, and I appreciate that the author brought up the interracial dating, and the problems, from her point of view.
There is so much story, emotion, and passion fit into the category length novel, that it all took my breath away while reading it. Just a perfectly and delightfully steamy, adorably sweet, absorbing and alluring tale to escape with. Loved it!

Ms Jackson continues to write amazing stories that make me want to be able to call her and ask how does she do it. Love the character and the story.

An Honorable Seduction is one of the best Brenda Jackson stories I've read yet! I really enjoyed Swan and Flipper's story, which gives readers a heavy dose of romance and seduction. David 'Flipper' Holloway is a Navy SEAL tasked with investigating Swan to find out if she's really selling government secrets. While her god fathers have complete faith in her innocence, Flipper has to prove it without a doubt.

From a lovable couple and a loyal team of SEALs, An Honorable Seduction is engaging and a wonderful addition to the Westmorland Legacy! The characters are so real and can easily be imagined in your own circle of friends. Brenda Jackson takes this story home with a little action, drama, and mystery. Even if you haven't read the previous Westmoreland/Westmoreland Legacy novels, you'll feel right at home with An Honorable Seduction! So don't miss out on this hot new story!
