This book contains a mixture of the history of English Paper Piecing and various artists and patterns. I think it would probably suit most levels from beginner to advanced. If you are curious to learn more than just the basics then this would suit you.

I think that this is a great book for someone who is really interesting in learning about the history of English Paper piecing or for someone has some experience with actually doing it and wants to know more. A bit abstract for the layperson.

Some good tips and advice, but I viewed an online version on my Ipad, and it did not transfer very well. Many of the images did not show, and a few broken sentences became distracting after awhile. A lot of history about the method is discussed as well, so if you want more of a how to book, or a pattern book, than this may not be the best choice. A beautiful pattern is included, but not the main focus. Also, again, on the online version it is hard to see, and no pattern pieces included. Would recommend the hard copy, but not the online version.

It is amazing to think that people, women and men alike, created such delicate and complicated pieced quilts by hand. I would dearly love to master this craft and the Flossie Teacakes' Guide to English Paper Piecing by Florence Knapp could quite possibly get me to that level. The historical information and detailed images brighten my resolve and the step by step illustrated lessons enlighten me. Oh, to dream of being just a touch as artistic as these people!

Flossie Teacake's Guide to English Paper Piecing: Exploring the Fussy-Cut World of Precision Patchwork is a lovely read. Florence Knapp's literacy voice makes one feel like you are chatting with an old friend. This book is not just a how-to guide. Knapp thoroughly reviews the history of English Paper Piecing (EPP) from its origins in the early 17th century until present day. She highlights some of the more famous EPP quilt makers over the centuries, recommends novels that feature EPP, delves into the meditative effects of EPP on the brain, as well as describing the process and sharing designs that you can copy at home.

The book is richly illustrated with both photos and drawings. The how-to techniques are explained in a clear and comprehensive manner. Even the bibliography is both useful and current. Florence Knapp's love of EPP, and everything about it, shines through loud and clear in the pages of her latest book.

Highly recommended for anyone who engages in EPP, is thinking about learning EPP, has ever admired EPP or just wants to know about EPP.

A wonderful book for people curious about this craft and those who are practising it.

This is an excellent book on English paper piecing. Whether a beginner or a seasoned EPP devotee, there is lots to learn and explore in this well written book.
A little bit of history and a look at other devotees of EPP at the start of the book, followed by fantastic show-how in making various shapes used in EPP. The book is modern, but not overly so, and I just love the section on fussy cutting, choice of fabric and fabric pattern.
In my opinion this is the best book o EPP that I have come across in a long time. Very readable and informative not just a" look and shelve book"

This book includes some history of EPP and has great reading on artists and patterns for original designs, giving the start in learning the practicalities of EPP, with step-by-step pictures showing everything from templates, paper choice, magic mirrors, glue/thread basting, and more.
Florence Knapp is a talented artist, shares many EPP ideas with over 200 photos to look through. Well worth a look at and to use as a great reference guide.
