I don't usually like Amish romances that are too deep, I'm usually a light and frothy book kind of gal. But this book had a depth that was just perfect for me. This was a sweet and romantic book that was religious, but not stuff it down your throat religious -if you know what I mean.

I will be looking for more books by this author and buying them!

This was an excellent book. I really enjoyed how Rebecca and Daniel interacted and how Daniel befriended Rebecca's little boy.

I highly recommend reading this book.

Thank you netgalley and harlequin for allowing me to read this for an honest review

When I chose The Wedding Quilt Bride by Marta Perry to kick off my Amish August series, I assumed that the book would be based on the typical idyllic Amish romance, but I was wrong! This book has a depth that I wasn't expecting, but quickly captured my heart, and seen as this is also the first book I have read by Marta Perry, but it quickly made me a fan for life.

Rebecca Mast had returned to Lost Creek with her son Lige (Elijah) after her husband died, but Rebecca was not the same young women she was when she left Lost Creek, she was determined to do everything on her own, without anyone making choices for her or her son, even if they are well-meaning, like her old childhood friend Daniel King.

But as you continue to read The Wedding Quilt Bride you'll learn all about Rebecca and Daniel's childhood friendship with the little flashbacks the author includes, which manages to make the story more full, you also learn about Rebecca and Lige's life in Ohio and see those who have gone through so much, learn to trust again.

The Wedding Quilt Bride is a wonderful story about finding your voice, your self-confidence, and trust in others. I found it was very well written and the story well paced, with depth and accuracy, which is why I give it 5 stars.

Rebecca Mast has returned to the Amish community with her son LIge after her husband passed away in a tragic accident with a horse. She hopes to be able to start over, but she finds herself in dire financial straits and doesn't know how she is going to find her way out of the red. She meets her old friend Daniel, and he is willing to help her out, but she doesn't want to accept charity> When some strange quirks about her son are discovered, the truth about her former relationship comes out. Will she be able to open up to her friends, family, and Daniel to accept their help? Will Daniel be able to get over his fear of people leaving to help Rebecca and her son through their emotional troubles?

Even though this book was supposed to focus more on the romance, I felt myself focusing on the relationship between Rebecca and her neighbors more. It was really interesting to see the women in the quilting circle get together to help each other out, even though they might not have all seemed that welcoming at the very start of the novel. I wanted to see Rebecca let these women in to be her emotional support as she rebuilt her life from the ground up and started her own business.

I also don't read that many Amish romance stories, so I was shocked, to say the least, when I saw the random German (I'm assuming) words thrown in throughout the story. This wasn't a bad thing, and I eventually caught on to what each word meant. It just gave the book a bit more flavor and context. The setting itself was calm, in a simple farm town where people lived in houses without electricity. The Amish people did not completely cut themselves off from the outside world though, because the quilting club included both Amish and non-Amish women.

The character development is also immense. Rebecca doesn't trust anyone after her last marriage, and so opening herself to Daniel took a long time. Also, Daniel had been hurt by family members in his life, so he didn't know how to be open either. Both of them had a lot to learn, and not just about themselves. With some of the events that occurred in this book, they had to learn how to be open and help others around them in their own situations.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new sweet and clean romance novel about adults finding themselves and learning about each other.

I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary review.

THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE by Marta Perry is a second chance romance that brings widow Rebecca Mast back to to hometown after the death of her husband. Rebecca returns to family with her shy son Lige at her side and a dream to make a life beyond what she endured before.

With the help of local carpenter, Daniel King, Rebecca's dream of owning a quilt shop become a reality, what she didn't have in mind, was her feelings for Daniel and the realization that Lige was blossoming with Daniel's guidance and friendship.

Rebecca and Daniel have secrets and emotional woes to overcome before they can even grasp moving on, but time in each other's company eases the way for good things .

THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE by Marta Perry is a wonderful tale of redemption and love. It is a solid and very well written story and I highly recommend this memorable tale.

THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE is the second book in the Brides of Lost Creek series by Marta Perry. Rebecca is back at her family home after her husband has passed away. She is with her young son, Lige, who is very shy and doesn’t talk much since his dad died. Almost immediately after she gets back, she runs in to her old childhood friend, Daniel. Both Rebecca and Daniel have secrets and lots of guilt and all of that holds them back from speaking their minds. Daniel tries to help Rebecca, but she wants to stand on her own and help Lige become the boy he used to be. He has seen so much in his young life and Rebecca is afraid he will be scarred for life. Once she has her quilt shop up and running, she hopes life will be much better for both of them.

Rebecca and Daniel used to be best friends when they were growing up, but now it is as if they are walking on egg shells around each other. Rebecca is ashamed of what she endured in her marriage and hasn’t told anyone the real story of what went on between her and her abusive husband. THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE teaches Rebecca that the whole community is behind her and wants to help her if only she would let them. Daniel is dealing with the guilt of his little brother jumping the fence into the Englisch world and not being able to stop him. Neither of these situations were their doing, but they can’t seem to let the guilt go and move on.

THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE is about Rebecca coming home and trying to explain to her family what happened in her marriage. As secrets are uncovered I was holding my breath, praying everything would work out in the end for Rebecca and Daniel. Flashbacks to when they were teenagers give the reader a taste of what they were like back then and what they were going through. Brilliant Marta Perry, just brilliant! She made me sad, then the next moment I was smiling and giggling out loud! I’m so excited to continue with this series. You can never go wrong with a Marta Perry book if you are a fan of the Amish genre. THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE is a heart tugging story that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Will Lige ever be able to trust again after all he has witnessed between his parents? Your heart is going to break for this little lost boy. Once I started this heartwarming story, it was very hard to put down!

Can two people who have been hurt by life and their beliefs come together as more than friends?
The author has given us a glimpse into Amish life from a different angle, as we journey through the hurts and upsets that have been heaped on them by life and the actions of others.
We are given a new beginning for a mother and her young son, and we get to see the building of a quilt shop, which if it were near me I would be using, and we see the giving spirit of an old friend.
Can even the young child overcome all that has happened, and move on with a fruitful life? We get to watch this through the words of the author, and you will be quickly turning the pages to get to the outcome.

I received this book through the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.

Great story about two childhood best friends who are brought together once again. Renewing friendships, starting over, and trust are major themes. Very enjoyable.

Rebecca Mast returns to Lost Creek after the death of her husband. The last few years were rough but she is determined to make it on her own for the sake of her 6 yr old son, Elijah. Rebecca dreams of opening her own quilt shop, but the building needs some fixing up first.

Daniel King is a carpenter, he's happy to help his childhood friend out. Daniel reaches out to her son, giving him simple jobs to do to help with the building. Daniel works to earn his trust, Lige is a quiet and careful boy.

Could Daniel and Rebecca find a second chance at love?

I like that Daniel and Rebecca get to know each other again while working on the shop. Rebecca feels comfortable with Daniel, and they can laugh about the past. I really liked how supportive Rebecca's family was, they all are encouraging and want her to succeed and her quilt shop brings people together.

I loved both of the main characters, Daniel is kind and thoughtful, he is great with Lige and is very supportive of Rebecca. Rebecca finds the courage to pursue her dreams. A sweet and enjoyable love story.

The Wedding Quilt Bride Is such a warm tale. One I'm independence, loss, gain, triumph, love and the love and trust in GOD. You have a very special mom of a six-year-old who moves back to her community after the loss of her husband. When she gets there guess who is their loving that she is back? Yes her family but someone else - who you ask well I shall not ruin it for you but disappointment sets in When they see she has changed. Will she let others back into her life or will she stay the same and eventually alone - a single mom? Will she let GOD move in her life? Will she trust HIM to work on her? You have to see all this for yourself.

Rebecca came back to her Amish roots and family with her six year old son Elijah. She was a widow and her husband James had died because of an accident. Rebecca was now independant and wanted to stand on her own. Rebecca was having problems adjusting to her well meaning family. Everyone was there if Rebecca needed them but they tried to let Rebecca heal in her own way and time. Rebecca and Daniel had been best friends growing up but Rebecca wasn’t the same person now. But she did have a dream Rebecca wanted to own her own quilt shop. Daniel had his own grief as he has shut himself off from other people as he felt he couldn’t help them when he couldn’t even help his own brother Aaron. Everyone suspected something had been wrong in Rebecca's marriage to James. Rebecca now had distrust of men. Her son Elijah seemed to be afraid of strangers and also cringed when anyone spoke loudly. Daniel was a kind loving man and was bonding with Elijah. Rebecca had secrets and they had to do with her marriage to james she didn’t know if she could trust Daniel and tell him. When she was younger Daniel and Rebecca told each other about just anything for the most part. Daniel was a carpenter and she had hired Daniel to help build her dream shop. With the support of her family and Daniel Rebeca started t become more like the person she had been when she was younger.
I enjoyed this book . I liked the plot and pace. I thought the author did a great job with ehr portrayal of domestic violence in an Amish community. I was glad Rebecca went home to her loving family with her young son Elijah. I felt so bad for Daniel and his grief about Aaron who was a very sweet man who had a broken heart. This was a very touching book. This was a quick read. I didn’t want to put this down. I wanted to see Rebecca and Daniel and Elijah and .see them a happy little family as i felt they all deserve happiness, love, and peace. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

Rating: 4.5/5

This is an emotive second chance romance involving two people who had grown up as best friends but have had years apart. Rebecca had returned to her home community after the death of her husband. She has a six year old son, Elijah, and is determined to use her skills to enable her to be independent bringing him up. Daniel King used to be her best friend and is determined to help her settle into her new home, using his carpentry skills to help create the quilt shop she is endeavouring to set up. However, their easy camaraderie has disappeared and they are more like strangers in many ways. Elijah is also very wary of strangers and shouts seem to terrify him. Daniel isn’t the same, either, after his younger brother chose to leave the Amish way of life and Daniel feels responsible for this. Can they overcome their past to give their friendship and mutual attraction a chance to develop? Can they learn to trust each other?

This is a delightful story showing how the whole community, including her family, welcome back Rebecca and her son. They are so supportive, helpful and considerate - even when she is so reticent to accept it. It is a heartwarming story with great characters, some surprises along the way and a lovely romance. It is a story about learning to trust again in yourself, those you love and in God. I’d love to see some of the beautifully describe wedding quilts. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys Amish romances - and if you’ve never read any, this would be a good one to try! I’ll certainly be looking out for more by this author and in this series in future!

I requested and was lucky enough to be given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Marta Perry is well-known for her romantic suspense books. So well-known, in fact, that many people don't realize she also writes exceptional Amish fiction. The Wedding Quilt Bride, book 2 in her Brides of Lost Creek series, ranks right up there with some of her best.

Rebecca Mast returns to Lost Creek with her young son, Elijah. Recently widowed, Rachel is having difficulty adjusting to her supportive family. She hides a secret concerning her marriage, and yet, almost everyone suspects something wasn't right.

When Rebecca hires carpenter Daniel King to help her build her dream - a quilt shop, he's equally determined to regain her friendship. Best friends as children, Daniel and Rebecca knew each other better than anyone else growing up. Seeing her deep distrust as a challenge, he tries first to drag her son out of his shell. Can he be the man they need when his own heart feels broken? Is it him she doesn't trust, or men in general? Or, is it her own judgement that she questions?

Perry broaches the subject of domestic abuse in the Amish church with a gentle hand. Readers will cheer as Rebecca and Lige regain their "spunk" while they bask in the love of her family. Readers who enjoy Amish fiction, will love this story. Once I started it, I raced to finish. I highly recommend!

Marta Perry know how to give the best Amish love stories. When I started The Wedding Quilt Bride I could feel the emotions coming off the page. My heart felt for Rebecca the main character I wanted to tell her it was all ok. Then there was Daniel gosh darn how I fell head over heels for the man he was gentle and kind and such a wonderful man. I couldn't put this one down I read it super fast because I could not wait to see how the love would blossom. I was brought to tears at the end!
