I really enjoyed The Nanny's Double Trouble, but I also was slightly disappointed. For one thing, the title is slightly misleading. I was expecting the children to be a handful, and therefore, there would be some cute shenanigans that ultimately made the nanny and the hero fall in love. Nope. Sure, the children were there, but they were essentially background characters to Daniel and Keely's love story - which is absolutely fine! But to be called The Nanny's Double Trouble, I was assuming the kids would have a bigger part!
Also, Keely wasn't just their nanny - she was related to the children! Daniel's deceased wife, was Keely's cousin, who was more like a sister to her. Which is why Keely has a bit of a chip on her shoulder towards Daniel - which really isn't much of a chip at all. She cares for Daniel which is obvious from day one.
My main disappointment was in Danial Bravo. I didn't like that he was still bitter towards his wife for getting pregnant, when she knew it would be a risk. I didn't enjoy hearing about their strained marriage. I didn't enjoy hearing about how much he longed for freedom. It didn't make sense. In a scene where he tells Keely that sometime after his wife died, he joined Tinder to try and put himself back out there; but then he couldn't go through with anything other than dinner because he knew that he most desired relationships and not just one night stands. Why would this man then decide that an unplanned pregnancy, with someone he truly cared about, would keep him from the freedom he so desperately craved, but didn't really want in the first place? His anger and shock at the pregnancy made no sense to me. It was obvious he was a family man, but the initial shock should have worn off much faster than it did. I didn't blame Keely for leaving and hated his response that he wasn't going to follow her. What a jerk! I can understand that from 18 he raised his brothers and sisters all while being married, and taking care of business, etc. Then once his siblings had grown, his wife became pregnant and he yet again was left to raise children versus getting to have some time to himself. He had a lot of responsibilities from a young age, I get it. He wants some "me" time. But for a guy who is a self proclaimed family man, why did it take Keely leaving and him having to take off work to care for the twins to realize this? He had realized it earlier in the novel. This was redundant. He was a relationship guy, a family guy, a good guy. Why did it take the women in his life to make all the choices for him? When he decided to act on his feelings for Keely - it was mostly because Keely's mom had heavily implied that they should be and it would be absolutely ok, as they were attractive and young and no one would blame them. After days of tiptoeing around, that night - he finally acts and makes a move on Keely. Yay! I just wish he had done it without the awkward conversation from her mother. Then, when he realizes he's made a mistake about his reaction to the pregnancy - does he go out and find Keely? No! His mother in law comes over and forces him to take her and the children to track her down on the road so they could apologize, because Keely's mother had told her the exact route they were going to take to get her out of town! Really? He was just going to wait until she called or strolled back into town? No. Just no.
The book started out really promising and then just kind of fell flat for me, it was an entertaining read. I really enjoyed Keely's character. Daniel Bravo was a bit of a let down, but perhaps I'm being too hard on him, but I wish he'd had more of a backbone.

A heartwarmingly sweet story of love, family and brighter tomorrows! With the first book in her new "The Bravos of Valentine Bay" series, Christine Rimmer introduces us to the man playing the patriarch role of a large family when tragedy left him no other option. Daniel is a serious guy who even though he partially resents the responsibility thrust on him, loves his family very much. I loved watching Keely be a saving grace that changed his outlook on life ... and those kids ... OH, they stole my heart! I adored this story and am very much looking forward to more in the series!

Daniel Bravo never expected to find himself widowed with twin toddlers to raise alone at this point in his life, but here he is ... trying to make it work. He finds himself in desperate need of a nanny who will be an added foundation in stability for his kids but one after another keeps falling through. Thankfully someone his children already adore steps up to help ... too bad she's not a big fan of his!

Keely Ostergard might hold details from the past against Daniel, but she loves his kids with a passion, so if her grinning and bearing it will keep those kids happy and healthy, she'll happily do it. After spending some time in the house, she's surprised to realize that Daniel is more laid back than she expected, and that beneath that gloomy exterior, he's actually a kind and funny guy. When sparks start to fly, neither know how to handle it ... especially with the past that they share!

Daniel was left widowed with a set of twins and needs help raising them. Things where good until his mother in law got into an accident and isn't able to watch them and is getting help from her niece Keely in her place until things get better. Little did they expect to fall for the cousin of his late wife.

If you a fan of quick, fluffy, contemporary romances like I am then this book is for you. I enjoyed seeing how the attraction between the two formed. Things were rushed in this book but then again with the limited amount of pages you can't expect much when it comes to that. There was little drama in the book but enough to keep things interesting. Overall thought that this was a pretty good book.

Sorry but I couldn't get into the book at all. I tried though, I'm so sorry for my ADD brain.

This book was kind of meh for me. I didn't like Daniel's character very much and it ruined the story for me.

Okay, this was really cute. I’m a total sucker for books with babies and especially ones that are as cute as the twins were. They were well written (that doesn’t always happen) and with age appropriate speech and behavior. I liked Keely and Daniel right from the beginning, as well as the rest of the family.

This was the first Harlequin book I’ve read in several years and I might just have to read a few more.

However, I did have a couple issues with the book:

First, the parenting stuff seemed outdated. I don’t know anyone who uses play pens anymore. And a rectal thermometer??? My vet doesn’t even use those anymore.

Second, I wasn’t convinced by both characters just magically deciding they liked each other when he saw her naked. I mean, I could see Daniel realizing it, but Keely having the exact same realization at that moment didn’t make sense to me.

And last, I felt like the stuff relating to Daniel’s late wife was a little “off”, for lack of a better word. The risks of a pregnancy with Lupus was exaggerated. Doctors don’t discourage women from having babies anymore, although there are some risks. Also, Keely hates Daniel because of things that her cousin said and the ones they discussed didn’t really seem that big to me? Honestly, when all was said and done her cousin was the one in the wrong.

But those things weren’t huge issues and mostly me being nit picky. I am surprised an editor didn’t catch the first though?

All in all, cute story that I wouldn’t mind re-reading one of these days when I’m in the mood for something light.

How wonderful a story this was. Both falling in love when the past could have prevented it. Great characters main and sub. A real feel good book

Love a story with children in it. Christine wrote a wonderful story that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I really tried, but I just could not get into the story because when ever there is another love inserted into my romances, I tend to think & route for the "lost' one. In this case, it was Daniel's dead wife and their love story that I wanted to read about. Keely just seemed to come across to me as second choice and a rebound. I just couldn't get past the fact that had his wife been alive, these two would never be together. Add to the fact that the Hero has two adorable babies that will be a permanent reminder of his former love, and that just left me disinterested. Sorry, but this is a case of "it's not you, but me" type of read....

This was a cute story that made me want to read more about the family and the town. I was cheering for the characters to get together and figure out how to stay together!

A sweet western romance, a second chance for Daniel and Keely to find 'The One'.
After the loss of his adored wife, Lillie, leaving him the care of his twins, Daniel pretty much closes himself off.
Keely misses her cousin Lillie every day and is stunned by the feelings that pull her to Daniel, after becoming the twins' nanny.
Rife with family interaction and drama, the story of this couple has you rooting for them to the end.

I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse and offer my opinion...and it is;
Don't miss this Bravo family installment.
