This little book is a life saver. We all need help communicating sometimes. It is a skill that must be learned and practiced. Ilana Kukoff and Jessica Yuppa Huddy prove with this little guide that they are incredible coaches wanting us all to win a medal and have fun playing the game.

If you have ever looked at your teenager daughter and thought "Now what?" This is a book for you.

If you have a friend who has a daughter, buy this for them as a gift right away, long before they are teens. This book is better to be read as preparation.

This book wont take away for family counseling but it will certainly help you figure out if you need intervention. Parenting is not meant to be done in isolation, if you are feeling lonely in parenting this book will help you feel like you have some support!

It is easy to read, well formatted. It is organized and gives practical help for conversations that can sometimes be difficult when emotions are high.

Could not get it to open so I can't review, which is a shame because this would be useful to me

Here is an encyclopedic guide to common scenarios parents will likely encounter with their teenage daughters. The predicaments presented (and the suggested responses) are signs of the times in which we live. Much of the "say this" advice is merely common sense--suggestions for responding in ways that build bridges and foster empathy rather than close doors and cultivate animosity. However, many experience parents will chafe at some of the "not that" suggestions--responses that parents who raised responsible progeny have used for decades.

There are other parenting books out there. We'll pass on this one.

I thought the was a great conversation starter book for teenage girls. Some of the topics did not relate to my daughter because she's not of that age but other topics did help me to communicate with her better

This is a good resource for parents to use to tread the dangerous waters of dealing with teenage daughters. Very easy to read. There is a lot of good information in here. Even if you do not agree with all of it, it gives you a basis to start thinking about how you will respond when these situations come up (and they will). Be prepared!

It's a great set of guidelines for talking with your teen about many different topics. Even if you don't agree with all the advice, it will help you consider other points of view while navigating tough topics.

Well, this book is exactly what it advertises. It gives specific examples of something a parent might say (for example, you can't go out in that. Change your clothes!), and gives you a speech to give instead (that top looks nice on you, but I don't think it works with those panes, let's look in your closet for something that might work better). Many of the suggested dialog is quite clinical and unnatural, and the examples are so specific, it's difficult to distill larger nuggets. I think there are some interesting ideas here, but the format was distracting and not very helpful.
