I enjoyed this story because while it was a love story it was very different than you expect. The two main characters are Millie and Pav. Millie suffers from sever "limits" as she calls them. She keeps herself isolated and finds it very hard to open up to people and leave her comfort zone. Pav on the other hand is the complete opposite he is super confident and liked by all. Millie starts to like Pav but because of her "limits" things become difficult. This book is all about how they interacted and navigated through their relationship
with all of the obstacles that was placed in their way. I really felt bad for Millie about her confusion on her
feelings but it was nice to read about all the millions of thoughts that went through her head when the
new stage of her relationship started I feel that its something everyone can relate to but not everyone goes
through those exact same motions the same way. I also really enjoyed the story it wasn't to unbelievable and
the way the author wrote it to make you sympathetic to the main character instead of just annoyed with her like I usually would be was a nice change of pace. Cute story easy read, I highly suggest it. Pav's character had
to be my favourite. He was so understanding of Millie's "limits" and he did everything he could to show her he
loved her while respecting her crazy boundaries. I think that he was the perfect character to balance the book,
she had tons of boundaries while he, it seemed, had none so the contrast was just what the book need. I loved
how even though she was strange it really focused on all of the people who cared about her and loved her no matter what her quirks were friends family. Cute read and I'm glad I got the chance to enjoy it.

This is a very enjoyable read and the storyline is quite immersive. I loved the characters relationships with each other and quickly found that I couldn't put it down. There were a few bits I had to re-read personally at the start but I soon found that I was getting to grips with it more as I went on. I love how strong the characters are and am looking forward to diving in the next read by this author.

3.5 stars – This was the story of Millie, an extremely gifted young woman who struggled with crippling anxiety and social awkwardness. She works with Pav, who not initially knowing that she had issues, just assumed, like everyone else, that she was cold, snooty and uptight. He finds himself over time becoming enamored with Millie, and this is the story of how they navigated their way through a relationship. Reading about Millie was painful as she found her way, but it was so easy to cheer her on and root for this couple. Pav I found so endearing and kind and patient with her. Overall, this was a very heartwarming story and was very well written.

I received this book before it came out and this is my honest review. Speechless!! Another great read by Susie Tate! How does she do it?!

Millie and Pay are both professionals at a Hospital, completely opposite creatures but the fire that burns between them is bright and hot. The story Tate creates between Millie and Pay is charming and genuine. She develops these characters as real individuals, both Millie's struggles and Pav's intense personality come through so vividly you can't help but fall in love with them.
There's no doubt that this is such a different story than the ones that I usually read because Millie has real fears, real traumas and it's not something that love cures magically overnight, as some other stories will have you believe but rather through Love Millie is faced with some series decisions she has to make about her life and how she wants to live it.

I couldn't put it down.

Absolutely in love with her work.

i am still not sure if i should give it 3 or 2.75 or even 2.5 stars...

ARC provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The beginning was really promising,... Millie, woman with an extreme anxiety, hated by the whole hospital - but in spite of all of that, she really was the best employee and did her work perfectly. It was some kind of a shield for her. Which i liked. If it was me, i probably wouldn't be able to do all the work she had to do.

Basically we see every step she takes, what she feels and how she's trying to cope with that. Unfortunately her colleagues saw just another of her shields, the cold and ignoring Millie. With the anxiety she was having, she wasn't really capable of showing her true emotions, she was scared, usually having panic attacks right after an interaction with doctors or in general - with a human being. During the story she's trying to overcome her own limits and the result is more than surprising.

There will always be a knight riding a white horse, am i right? Pavlos was charming, intelligent, but an arrogant piece of shit in my opinion. Sorry for destroying your view on him, but i just wasn't feeling really comfortable when seeing him with Millie. I get why majority of readers liked him, even adored him, but LOL, no, bye.

To be honest, at first i didn't know what to think about Millie's character... but after some pages i somehow started to care about her. She really was totally stressed out and... well... exhausted. Her "limits" were everything she had, when she followed her routines, everything was "okay". I felt pretty bad for her, i mean, it really sucks - having anxiety. I can relate to few of her fears, and if you haven't had an anxiety ever in your life, i totally comprehend why some ppl who read the book weren't able to empathise with Millie. It's not easy to understand something you've never experienced.

Also, I really liked the way the author pointed out the problem with Millie's parents. Those fucking .... okay,... i should calm down. I think Susie was trying to say that it's really FREAKING important to communicate with your own child... bc, she/he needs it, more than anyone ever will. Otherwise, your child might just close into some kind of "shell" and ... well, you're pretty fucked up. So please, if you're a parent,... take this books as an advice and please... TAKE CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN, LOVE THEM AND MOST IMPORTANTLY... SHOW THEM THAT YOU LOVE THEM.

Sooo, as i already "said", the start was promising but then... it just didn't click with me, completely, as i expected. In my opinion, it could have been soooo much better. The idea was amazing, don't get me wrong, but i think that the author could have played with the story way more, some unpredictable twists were missing, also the characters were somehow "simply" shaped, their personalities could have been more detailed and some deeper development of their identity would give the story more to tell.

On the other hand i really did enjoy the end of the book. I would say that those idk, maybe 30 - 50 pages... were the best. I totally LOVED THEM.

Sooo,... to sum up... i enjoyed the book, the main idea of it,... and i liked Millie,... but everything else was just... repetitive and a bit uninteresting.

This is the second book I am reading from Susie Tate. The first being Beg, Borrow, Steal. Limits has a lot of reference to characters from this book. Susie has beautifully depicted anxiety disorder through Mille. A lovely read where Mille comes out of her shell with the help of her friends and Pav's love.

*Complimentary review copy received in exchange for an honest review*

Limits by Susie Tate is Pavlos and Millie’s story. Millie is a woman who suffers from severe social anxiety. She finds it extremely difficult to interact with others. To those around her it makes her seem cold and uncaring, spurring the nickname “Nuclear Winter”. She lives within limits that she has set for herself and believe she can only cope within those limits. Pavlos is an outgoing, vivacious, larger than life personality that helps bring change into Millie’s constricted world. With the urging of Pavlos and her new friends, Millie begins to gradually expand her limits.

I really enjoyed Limits. Millie and Pavlos story was fascinating, charming and endearing. My heart ached for Millie and the struggles she faced every single day. I loved seeing her slowly break out of her shell and start interacting with others. It wasn’t simple by any means and there were some setbacks. It took effort and patience, for everyone involved.

Limits touched my heart. Millie and Pavlos romance was a journey of hope, perseverance and love. It was a joy to see past characters such as Jamie, Libby, Rosie and Kira. They joined Pavlos in his quest to help Millie and they too became her champions.

I look forward to more books by Susie Tate.

4 Heart-warming, Heart-Rending Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

Everyone has their limits; unfortunately for Millie, those limits control every aspect of her life. When Pav endeavours to persuade Millie to speak at a conference, he finds Millie fascinating, and decides, to uncover the beautiful, and intelligent woman hidden within.

I went into this story blind, after reading the blurb I was intrigued, but I didn’t know what to expect. What I found was an exceptional story, with an array of wonderful, entertaining, captivating, characters. At first it took me a few chapters to truly get into the writing style of the story; however, once I had achieved this, I was flying through the pages. I struggled to put this book down, I found myself constantly thinking about the characters and needing to find out more, wondering where this story would take me.

I love that Susie Tate took on a complex character, one that many can relate to in some way. This story held two messages for me, one was that those battling life each day, can find a way out of the dark abyss, they can find a way to over come the things that scare them and find happiness, especially with the support of friends. Also, this story holds a message for us to not judge people until we truly know them, because behind every person is a story, and until we are in their shoes, we can’t possibly begin to understand why they act the way they do.

This is a beautiful story, one that will stay with me and I will happily read again, and again. Susie Tate is a new author to me and I look forward to reading more of her books.

This isn’t your typical romance, this is a gritty, beautiful, heart-breaking, heart-rending romance, that will touch your heart and blow your mind.

I was given this ARC for an honest review
This is the first book by Susie Tate that i have read. I did not even know that there was a book before this one. In my opinion you can read this as a stand alone. From the very beginning of this book i cared about Millie the MC. She was such a sweet and closed off person. I have some trouble with anxiety and it frustrated me when other characters couldn’t see what was going on with her. What made it worse was that she works in a hospital. After the other characters got to know Millie they saw how sweet and smart she was. The ending is a HEA. I would recommend this book. There is some British slang that i found difficult to understand at times but it made the book a bit funny. The story is inspiring as well. Millie works through her issues and her friends and SO really make an effort to understand and help her. The characters seemed very real. None of them were perfect. I definitely recommend this book

I loved this story and was so happy that I was able to receive it as an ARC. With all of Susie Tate’s books, I was laughing, happy crying, cursing, and just overall enjoying myself. I could not put this book down.
Susie Tate is one of my "1-Click" authors, even if I'm worried about the synopsis (e.g. I didn't think Goodnight would be right for me, but ended up loving it). Even if I wasn't totally in love with the characters, I would love her stories as a whole. Each of her books is an automatic re-read, just to experience it over again and this one was no exception. In fact, I would go back to a certain section and end up re-reading all over again.
Since reading Beg, Borrow, and Steal, I have been waiting for Limits to come out with Millie’s story. I kept wondering how Tate would bring together an introverted, anxiety-ridden, but sensitive and giving Millie with the outgoing, jokester Pav.
Like all of Tate’s heroes, Pav is not perfect and he makes mistakes along the way. I sometimes hesitate with ST’s heroes because she writes them and makes me think “that jerk!!” but once I calm down, I realize that their responses are honest. I would probably respond the same way, given the situation.
Susie Tate seems to release a book in April and near the end of the year – She’s also an actual general practitioner and knowing that she’s doing important work makes the battle with wanting her to write more books seem selfish, but call me selfish because I want more! (Side note: not in the US so some of the terms are a bit confusing just because I’m 1) not a doctor and 2) not familiar with the hospital hierarchy).

This was such an interesting read! I don't think that I've ever delved into a world quite like this one - we follow Millie who has spent the majority of her life alone until she goes on this journey that tests her limits which in turn challenge her to grow. It was a lot of fun!

Have been a fan of Susie Tate's books and have been looking forward to reading more from this series after enjoying "Beg, borrow or steal." I was a bit disappointed with this book as I found the plot flimsy, the main characters not very likable and the heroine's mental disorder depressing.I found myself getting distracted throughout the first half of the book and had no qualms in putting the book down and turning to some thing else, but my compulsion for completing tasks had me returning to it.I'm glad I did return to the book as the last half started to get interesting and riveting ,and as Millie begins to get out of her shell and her self-imposed limits, the reading took on more realism. The secondary characters were all so stimulating and funny and made the book more entertaining.Although this was not the author's best work, I'm still inclined to complete the series and hope all the characters get their own story.I felt the book title was genius and I am happy to provide this free review for the Netgalley platform.

We first meet Millie in Beg, Borrow or Steal and she comes off as standoffish and stuck up. But I knew there was more to her when she was so great with Libby and Rosie. Millie has extreme social anxiety disorder, which causes her to be afraid of what others think of her and to shut herself off and be robotic in her human interactions. She reminds me of Goodnight in that she is afraid to allow herself to feel and appear weak. Pav, Libby, Rosie, and Kira all help her to deal with this in a healthier way and to overcome some of her fears.

This my 2nd book by this author. I read Beg Borrow or Steal about 5 months ago & I loved it. I have other books by this author (I need to read those pronto!). At first, I made the mistake of thinking that Susie Tate's books are Chic LIt-not that there's anything wrong with that! I think that it's the covers. I like the covers, but no real people on most of them. Again, that's OK too. I'm (almost) getting immune to the shirtless guy on the covers anyway.
On to this book! Again, set in the UK, Medical Center for most of the story.
Limits is about the heroine Millie and her struggles in with dealing with people. She's more than painfully shy. She has a social anxiety disorder. She also has OCD, which Millie admits is less serious than the social/people issues.
In Beg Borrow or Steal, Millie had met and even started taking care of Libby's 5 y/o daughter Rosie. Millie is a Radiologist and is uber intelligent. She often takes care of Rosie in the morning so that Libby -a medical student can be on time for 7:30am hospital rounds. That took place in book 1. A little time has passed and Rosie is now in school. Millie often still babysits for adorable Rosie. I love their interaction. Rosie is a bouncy little girl and shows Millie some rare affection. Millie lets Rosie touch her and even receives her hugs.
As the story progresses, the reasons(s)/ causes for the Millie's anxiety is gradually revealed.
The Hero in this story is Pavlos. "Pav" is long time best friend to Jamie (the H in B,B or S).
Pav is a complete 180 to Millie. He's friendly, outgoing and totally at ease with everyone. He's also attracted to Millie. He's intrigued. At first he's curious, then a little put off by her aloof manner. He soon realizes what is going on with Millie. Millie breezes through work- reviewing, analyzing and diagnosing patient's Xray /exams.
Jamie, LIbby, Millie and Pav all work at the same medical center. The staff has nicknamed Millie "Nuclear Winter". Millie is dressed impeccably (she has Eleanor, her stylist do all her shopping and selecting what to wear).Millie's Radiology colleague, Don, shares an office with her. Don is elderly and extremely patient with Millie. He's really close to and possibly beyond retiring age, but he helps cover for Millie's lack of people skills. Millie covers for Don by (happily) carrying the workload for the Radiology Dept. Other doctors don't take too kindly to Mille correcting them on the tests to be performed. She's also always right. She doesn't make eye contact, so they think that she's stuck up.
I had a glimpse of Millie in the previous book. I wrote in my reivew that I appreciate a shy person. Especially one like Millie. that was "just doing it" with out fan fare and no credit.
The romance between Pav and Millie is a slow burn. I wouldn't believe it otherwise. Millie's social ease builds up while Millie and Pav's romance grows.
I liked Pav's family. Pav's mom had difficulty understanding Millie.
Pav is very protective of Millie. He's human, he does lose patience from time to time. Millie does have a lot to deal with -her parents are beyond Cold Fish. MIllie's dad is a prominent politician & Millie's mom constantly belittles her.. Millie does have a great relationship to her Gammy (her dad's mom). I loved Gammy. She ends up playing a key role in Millie's life and near the end of the book
I do love a kick ass heroine quite often, but I do like a character that is good and kind and needs some understanding. My favorite little character, Rosie made some cute appearances. She did have her woodlouse pet ("rolly polly" or sow bugs as I called them as a kid in the U.S.)
The ending was a little rushed but I loved it all and the epilogue was great.
I wanted to mention Kira, Libby's (extremely) feisty best friend. I hope that she gets her story too.
I took my time reading this. I felt like Millie is a friend. I really got to know her. What a great heroine.
Pav, is a great hero He started off really great. Pav ending up learning what he didn't know that he didn't know- thanks to Millie.
Thanks to the author for the ARC.

I’ve never read a book with a heroine who struggled in the same manner as Millie. She’s a genius, raised by parents who didn’t take the time to nurture her special needs. Along the way she regressed further and further into herself until she’s simply incapable of having a simple conversation with an acquaintance.

Pav was a bit harder for me to understand. He’s attracted to Millie but then some of his thoughts and actions were not those of one who is enamored. I put this off as being what would normally happen in the situation of dealing with Millie rather than wanting the perfect hero that in thought and action will always protect and remain strong for their woman. Of course, Millie wasn’t really his through most of these conflicting moments, but even in the end he had an a-hole moment that I guess could be looked at as being a natural human reaction. I just wanted him to not be that a-hole at that particular moment and time.

Despite some of his inner thoughts or reactions, I really did love Pav. He was so patient and kind and caring where Millie was concerned. Yes, there were times he became frustrated, but he always pulled himself back and started over again. Once he saw the shadow of her brokenness, he was all in. He wanted to be the one to make her smile, hear her giggle, and share her kisses.

I had a bit of a rough time catching on to the rhythm and voice of this author which slowed the beginning down considerably for me. However, once I adjusted to it, the book took off and I truly enjoyed getting to know Millie in all her broken ways, Pav and his confidence, as well as the rest of the gang and their methods of supporting Millie to help in her therapy.

Written with humor sprinkled throughout as well as moments that wrenched my heart, I fell in love with Pav and Millie and was cheering them on as a couple as well as Millie as an individual. This story did not disappoint in those regards. I did wonder how, what, where, and when Millie would find her strength and I applauded her when it happened even as I shed a tear that it was necessary.

The epilogue here was simply amazing! It was the perfect ending for a story that dealt with some of the heavier topics as this one did and again I cheered and then I cried from happiness.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Powerfully moving story of love's power to heal.

Susie Tate has written a wonderfully moving novel. Millie and Pav are an unlikely couple however their characters are crafted with such care and detail the reader truly experiences their evolving relationship with them.

Mental illness can be difficult to write about and for people to understand. Susie Tate did an extraordinary job in showing how Millie's mild obsessive compulsive disorder, sever social anxiety and genius affected her and the people around her. Her growing relationship with Pav and her growing circle of friends captures the importance of acceptance and physical comfort by the people in your life.

The foundation of this book is the romantic journey of Millie and Pav but it becomes so much more. This is without a doubt one of the best books I have read this year.

I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.

Millie suffers from anxiety to the highest degree. I don't know much about this disorder, or anxiety, but it was really interesting to see how such simple things can be a major life issue for people who suffer through everyday. She is misjudged by her issues. She has limits. People think she's icy, snobbish, rude etc but in reality, she can't really speak, she freezes. Pavlos is a happy, social guy who doesn't really understand Millie. But he comes around, and he takes her out of her comfort zone to a certain extent. Gets her to open up, and they fall in love, their own way.

Her parents are atrocious. Her mother is a terrible excuse for a human being. What a horrible childhood for Camilla to grow up in. I loved reading her coming out of her shell and realizing she isn't weak and not at fault on why she is the way she is. I loved all the gals in this story. They helped bring Mils out of her shell, and she needed them.

I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

A brilliant book, couldn’t put it down.

Gives a wonderful insight into how social anxiety can cripple your life and Millie’s journey in trying to overcome this is inspiring.

Highly recommended and have just bought the rest of the authors back list. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Loved this book! I don't want to spoil it too much, so I'll just say that Millie is a great character.
The book felt very real, the way Millie's anxiety is portrayed is spot on. My only criticism is that her evolution was a tad fast, though that may very well be for some people I guess.
Her inner ramblings were like hearing my own. Pav was a great character too. However, he does mess up in quite a big way and his apology was a bit lacking for me. I'd have liked it better if he had grovelled more.
The epilogue was a nice touch, to let us see Millie's progress and their life together.
