Samantha has had a rough go of it. Her boyfriend recently left her for someone else. Also, her best friend is getting married and wants her to be in the wedding, but her ex is the groom's brother and best man. In order to save face at the wedding - which is really a full week of events- She hires an actor named Jake to accompany her and pretend to be her boyfriend.

I honestly didn't love Samantha at first. The story is told in first person POV and There were some comments she made and ways she talked about things that I didn't like. She just grow on me as the story progressed, though, and I did like her and Jake together. From the get-go they had a nice camaraderie and you could tell that there was definitely some chemistry between them.

The story moves at a nice pace and has some good humor. There's also a nice amount of character growth from both Samantha and Jake. Overall this was an enjoyable read and I definitely want to try more books from this author.

This story has been written before and yes, I have read better versions of this tale. But, that being said, I laughed out loud numerous times during this read. Very enjoyable. Cute and understandable characters. I was rooting for the love story and I enjoyed all side plots. Perfect fun rom-com.

Jess was Sam’s best friend and was getting married. But Sam’s ex boyfriend who had dumped her five months ago who had hurt her was the best man and his new girlfriend who was hugely pregnant. Healthy foods were on jess’s to-do-list just not her shopping ;ist. But not right now the last few months had been one of those times she was dumper and than the wedding invite. Well advance warning of a wedding invite. Jess and Sam had known each other forever. She had told jess awhile ago to save the date and now she knew why. She ;oved Sam and wanted her to be happy. But that was before Liam- her ex- shredded her heart, hopes, and the perfect future she’d created in her head. Jess is marrying Dan- Liam's brother- and Liam would be the best man. Jess is imaging walking up the aisle toward the man who cheated on her and lied and everyone there knew it. It was rough even with Jess, they had been a foursome, now they were a threesome and it didn’t work the same. She had lied to Jess- and her mother- and said she had a new boyfriend. So Jess had than told her Liam’s girlfriend was pregnant and huge. Sarah was Sam’s other best friend she has known three years. Sarah said hire a man . She gave Sam magazine and showed her the page with Studs for Sale- how the modern woman solves the dating problem. Sarah added everyone is doing it. You just need an escort. Sam got the invitation and the wedding was in Scotland after a week of wedding festivities. Jake was an actor and he’ll work cheap. Jake has been hurt also by love. Sam hores jake who is a sweet man to pretend to be her boyfriend.
I really enjoyed this book. I had watched the movie with the same title and was worried. I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy this book that much as I did love the movie but I was happily wrong. I really enjoyed Sam and Jake and how they interacted together. I loved harry the dog. He really added to this book. I loved how natural Jake appeared to be as Sam’s boyfriend and how he immediately hated Liam. I liked the plot and the pace. I loved the characters and the twists in this book and I recommend it.

I love Zara Stoneley's books, they always make me laugh and is a guaranteed good read. This one didn't disappoint. The ending was predictable but I loved it all the same. Sam's character was a giggle and I loved the storyline and the idea of going to Scotland for a week for a wedding! Thank you for letting me read and review this book, will definitely look out for her next one

I've really enjoyed this entertaining, lovely story that has a lot of giggling provoking scenes that kept me engaged from start to end.

Sam is a single girl who has to take part to her best friend's wedding celebration in the Scottish Highlands. She has to spend seven days with all her friends and family but she doesn't want their pity because her ex boyfriend and his new girlfriend are among the guests too so she hires an actor as her new boyfriend.
Jack easily succeds charming every woman in the wedding reception, but will Sam go back home with her heart unscathed?Or she will fall for her handsome date??

“Only weak men need a woman who will excuse who she is.Strong men like Jake find strong, confident women sexy.”

This is the first novel that I have read by Zara Stoneley and will not be my last...I can't wait to put my hands on her next work.

Sam is not going to show up as Maid of Honor at her best friends wedding without a date. Especially because her ex, Liam, is the best man. So after telling a white lie to her parents and her best friend she realizes she needs to find a date. After more thought Sam decides she needs to hire somebody to play the part. In comes in Jake who is an actor, who works cheap, and needs a distraction.

Jake Porter plays his part to perfection and everyone believes he is madly in love with Sam. The problem is, Sam’s not sure if Jake is acting anymore. This was a fun read and I read it in one day during a snowstorm!

Swooning...I’m writing this review at 3am because it happens to be just when I’ve finished and I need to write it now.
This has been the funniest romance novel I’ve ever had had the pleasure of reading.
I totally fell in love with Sam and jake and all the other characters apart from Stella and Liam for obvious reasons I loved every chapter of this book.
I honestly couldn’t bear to put it down it was brilliant, I absolutely cannot wait to find other titles from this fabulous author.

Sadly I didn't love this one. I didn't connect with any of the characters and the romance element to this story just wasn't believable to me.

I had been looking forward to reading this one after reading some of the early reviews and I am happy to say that now I have read the story, I wasn't disappointed!

I loved the setting for the book and the characters were great, they worked so well together that they really helped carry the story forwards. It was well written and very easy to follow. I loved the character development and it has been a fun few hours reading it!

Four stars from me for this one, it is a really enjoyable story and was a delight to read!

The premise of this book sounded cute, funny, and so promising. At first, it sort of felt like reading a Bridget Jones novel. Quirky, odd, and funny. But as I went along, the story just became more and more off-putting.

Where the book began to lose my interest is when Jake seemingly has feelings for Sam all the the sudden. Where was the build up? Where was the tension and attraction? It felt too rushed to be fleshed out and believable, and that’s really the problem with this book in my opinion.

What could’ve been a fun story of falling in love with the wrong person, ended up being a case of insta-love with a dash of weird and random drama to add conflict. I did like some of their interactions and seeing their shenanigans. But mostly, the story felt a little too…cheesy for me.

"The Wedding Date" had potential to be a laugh out loud funny rom com, but for me it fell flat. There was a bad case of insta-love, and that really made the book feel lacking to me.

Romcom that rolls along at a nice pace with engaging characters and a fun storyline...and an adorable dog!. Thoroughly enjoyable. Predictable?...yes, but fun fiction and guaranteed escapism and you can't knock that - sometimes it's just the ticket. True romcom.

I loved this book. I love when two people who don’t know each other and are put together for the wrong reason end up falling in love. I would definitely recommend this

* I received this as an ARC from netgalley in exchange for my honest review*

I adored this book. It was a great pick me up book to read. This of course is one of my favorite story lines to read about. To make it even better there were some hysterical lines from some of the side characters that enjoyed very much... also there is a dog! That always gets points with me. I definitely recommend reading.

Awww, this was such a fun rom-com! I felt like Sam was such a relatable character because NO ONE wants to show up single at a wedding their ex is attending too. Not sure most people would go to the lengths of hiring a fake boyfriend but Jake was such a delight as a character. Even though the story line sounds familiar, I thought the author added humor and warmth to it without the book being overly cheesy. It put me in a good mood, so there's no higher praise than that!

This was my first read of Zara Stoneley's and I was presently surprised. Though a predictable theme, it did not take away from the story and I still found myself rooting for Sam and Jake. Loved every moment of this light and fluffy read and I would definitely read again!

This book is a fairly standard romcom. A heroine whose long term boyfriend has deserted her for another woman, and who wants to show him she is over him by flaunting a new and much sexier man. Set during a week in Scotland at her friend's wedding, we pretty much know that the actor she is paying to be her pretend boyfriend will end up as the real thing. Some funny moments, an adorable dog, and all the usual misunderstandings make this an enjoyable but unsurprising read.
