I must admit it took me a while to get into this story. I found the descriptions of her job repetitive and took forever to divulge.
This is a story of a woman who tries to convince herself and others close to her that her life away from Seashell Cove is so very exciting and wonderful.
Cassie was determined to keep her news of being fired from her high powered and important job a secret from her family and friends, even though underneath her facade she desperately wanted them to know. She felt she would disappoint her parents who proudly boasted to all, how proud they were of her achievements.
Her family and friends are all happy to see her, but in the words of her friend Meg “you’re trying to be something you’re not”.
Eventually, with a lot of help and advice, her journey to a satisfying conclusion of where her heart truly lies comes to fruition. There are a few cracking comedy moments, which made me laugh out loud, my favourite being catching her parents in the throes of passion before dinner! There is a love interest which adds more enjoyment to the story. Overall, a good read.

Heartwarming, funny, and utterly charming. Let's face it Cassie is not a likable character when we first meet her. She's shiny, stressed, clueless, immature etc. it was nice to see her character grow during the story. I felt like some of this could have been handled better, I mean for instance she really treated Danny horribly. It was distracting that no one commented how terrible Cassie was at her job either. At some point I kept expecting her to realize how crap she is at event planning. She just ran into everything feet first without thinking anything through.

But as usual Karen Clarke writes an enjoyable story in a charming setting. The supporting characters were all great. All in all a nice cosy romance read.

I've read a few of Karen's books now but this one is totally amazing best one by far and so heartwarming while funny as well. Full of families beautiful seaside countryside and romance and about finding out what is best for you and being happy. Highly recommend this book loved it from the first page it has you hooked.
Cassie has been working in a high flying job and and needs to get away and she looses her job so decides to head home to her parents to find out what is best for her and she heads to the beautiful seaside cove of seashell and her parents have always owned and run a cafe. In known to her they have transformed the cafe that was tired and now it's welcoming. When she arrives home she finds her brother is home to as he's needing to sort his life out to. Cassie realises that her old friends have whole new lives now and her old flame even makes her feel more flustered. She's keen to get into the seaside town and throws herself into organising events both at her parents cafe and at the local pub can she make a success of it or when she gets offered a job in London which does she find is best to move back or stay. Can she be happy and do what she wants as she thinks her parents are so proud of what she does and she doesn't want to let them down. Also her brother has a secret and can he be happy and move forward.
An excellent book from the first page has you hooked and so well written I highly recommend reading this.

Cassie Maitland has been fired from her Event Management job in London so decides to head home to sunny Seashell Cove in Devon to think about things. Her parents have run the Seashell Cove café, but when Cassie gets there she finds out her parents have transformed it from a tired little café into a thriving updated café! She decides not to tell her family and friends that she doesn’t have a job, playing along the lines of starting up her own Event Management business – and the café is going to be her first project! Cassie begins to organise themed events for the café, but realises that being back at home isn’t going to be as easy as she thought when old flame Danny appears!

To say I was excited to receive this book was the understatement of the year! I’ve read all of Karen’s books and have loved every one of them! This one was no exception. I’d like to say the book starts with a bang but that might be taking things too literally!! I knew I was going to love it when Cassie walks in on her parents half naked (her parents, not Cassie!), indulging in a little ‘love in the afternoon’ (well, more like teatime!) It was a very funny start to a very funny book!

I love Cassie’s character even though I just wanted to cringe at her suggestions for themed events at the café! Clever writing made all the characters very likeable, each one of them having the ability to make me snigger and the whole story had me hooked from the very beginning! As normal for this author’s books, it’s a story of self-discovery, family, friends and relationships. Also thrown in is sun, sea and coffee!! What more could you want!

An absolutely perfect story to lounge around on the beach with. But, if you can’t wait that long, then grab a cuppa, turn on the heating and whisk yourself to the sunny Devon seaside for a couple of hours! Fantastic!

I really enjoyed this book. A book about family, friends and relationships. It had humour and warmth and happiness. A well written story that i would recommend you to read.

I enjoyed this book, very funny at times. The only reason it isn't a five star read is that the plot was very obvious. That being said the characters were vivid and I loved the setting.

This was a fun read. Good friends and seaside living - and cats. What more could you ask for in a lighthearted read?

A brilliant feel good holiday read. Meet Cassie, an events organiser working in London and New York too busy to connect much to her family until fate takes a hand and she finds herself back at the family home in Seashell Cove. Her parents run a cafe there and tell everyone about their successful daughter and how proud they are of her, will Cassie's secret make them love her less? While visiting her gran Cassie bumps into Danny who she had a crush on at school. He is always there to help and support her while she tries to work out what she wants to do with the rest of her life. This is a good story that leaves you still thinking about Cassie once the book is finished.

Cassie works in event management in London and loves the glamorous life… apart from the long hours, constant phone calls and when things go wrong. When she is fired from her job she arrives back at her parents who are so very proud of their successful daughter that she daren’t tell them the truth. Thi is the story of her sorting herself out and realising that being happy is a big part of life with all it’s ups and downs. A feel good story that will make you smile with some wonderful scenes and larger than life characters. This is my first Karen Clarke book and it won’t be my last. If you want a seaside read, perhaps a holiday read then this could be the book for you. A highly enjoyable read.
