From Your Heart (the O'Malley's) is part of the For Your Love series, however it stands alone well. As always, Shannyn Schroeder brings stellar crisp effective dialogue and passion to the mix. from your Heart is an entertaining second chance at love story. I had a hard time connecting to the heroine, as I wanted her to experience more growth faster than it was written. I thought the hero was so engaging that she was a little late in coming to the realization. It might have contributed to the tension, but it didnt make me like her, lol. Im looking forward to the next book.

This is the first in the series I've read so I'm not sure how much knowledge of these characters I'm supposed to have going into this story or h ow that affected my perception. Usually I'm not huge fan of man-whores, reformed or not, but I felt that Kevin was very genuine in his feelings, the fact that he was ready for more stability, and his efforts for a second chance with Kathy. However, the back and forth with her feelings got a little old. I understand that she has issues with confrontation and trust, but her treatment of Kevin really wasn't fair. She needed to go all in if she's going to give him another chance and instead he gets treated poorly. Luckily for him, he's got more patience than I would and is will to keep trying. Worth reading for him, for some I think the ping ponging emotions might make this one a difficult read.

Kevin O'Malley has never forgotten about Kathy Hendricks. So, he's determined to make things right and win back the woman who ghosted him after she thought their relationship was way more serious than he did. Will Kevin be able to win Kathy back or will she end up breaking his heart this time around?

I found it really hard to get into this book at first because I wasn't feeling any sort of connection between the main characters, but I'm glad I stuck with it because it was a very enjoyable story in the end. Really, the dialogue drew me in because Kevin is charming, confident and so determined to win the heroine over. Can he prove to Kathy that he's changed? Will the heroine give him another chance after how things ended between them?

As for the dialogue, it was entertaining due to the main characters back stories and everything these two go through on their journey to happy ever after because winning back Kathy isn't easy. Does the once a cheater always a cheater adage make it impossible for the heroine to even consider giving Kevin another chance? Moreover, there were moments when I wanted to scream at the heroine because Kevin is a good guy that made a mistake. However, in saying that, she's been through a lot and it's understandable why she finds it hard to trust. Really, everything that's happened in her life has made her the independent woman she is. While the hero, he's confident, charming and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over because he wants her back. I also liked the close relationship he has with his friends and that he isn't afraid to tease his brother's soon-to-be bride. Really, the pair have a fun friendship, which sometimes feels like their enemies. But, in fact, their relationship feels more like they're frenemies.

Overall, Ms. Schroeder has delivered a really good read in this book where I felt no chemistry between this couple in the beginning, but found their connection gets stronger the more time they spend together; the romance was nicely-detailed and had me liking that the heroine was willing to give the hero another chance, even though she doesn't know whether she'll ever be able to fully trust him; and the ending had me loving that Kevin doesn't give up on Kathy, even though she gives him every reason to. Will she finally realize that Kevin is the right guy for her and always has been? I would recommend From Your Heart by Shannyn Schroeder, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors Melanie Shawn, Samantha Chase, Terri Anne Browning and Stacy Finz.

Kevin has been a mystery in past books and so I was looking forward to his story. After reading the synopsis however, I was NOT impressed with Kevin. The author did a good job of showing Kevin’s maturity but I never would have given him a second chance.

I wasn’t a big fan of Kathy either but together, the couple’s fractured pasts, busy schedules and dedication to one another made it work. I love revisiting the O’Malley siblings although I really wished there would have been more page time with them. Overall, it was a good read.

It's a fine story about soul mates getting a second chance at love. The characters seem genuine and while the heroine was weary of the hero, to the point of annoyance, she eventually decides to live in the present and grab love with both hands. If you're the sort of person who prefers the unabridged version, you'll appreciate this story most. If not, you’ll likely enjoy it but decide that it could've been 25% shorter and not suffered from the lack.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGallery, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

While this book had great potential, for me it fell short. I loved the idea of the main couple giving each other a second chance but the back and forth became too much. And there were some points where I questioned if they would truly make it as a couple with all of the distrust between them.

the o'malley's series continues with from your heart and focusing on player brother, kevin. when kevin crosses paths with kathy, the girl who ghosted him at his brother's engagement part he's pissed to learn that her take on how things ended is very different than his.

and so he sets out on a long campaign to win her back. he goes out of his way to prove he's changed. he tells her he's in love with her. he's there for her in ways that she doesn't expect and he's fully open and honest with her. and she's kind of a jerk about it.

like he may have been an idiot the first time around, but she didn't fight for him either. and she spends the majority of this book not giving him the benefit of the doubt and avoiding confrontation. plus there's an awful lot of moira and jimmy in this book and they are probably my least favotite o'malleys. i don't know i find them grating.

kevin was actually a really great hero. it's too bad he was saddled with such a wet blanket of a heroine.

As a fan of “The O’Learys” series, I’m always excited to see a crossover, connected series by this author featuring this Irish pub owning family. If you haven’t checked into that series, well, I highly encourage you to do so.

Though Book 1 and 2 of “For Your Love”, which centers around The O’Malleys, wasn’t a huge hit with me, I did really enjoy Book 3, Through Your Eyes. I waded into Book 4, From Your Heart, with high hopes and expectations. Around 20%, I realized I was given a hero I wasn’t sure I wanted to root for. Plus, the plot itself seemed rather weak and likely to be overly drawn out.

Kevin O’Malley had captured the heart of Kathy Hendrick’s five years ago but let it slip away. That’s what happens, my fellow romance book loving friends, when you are sleeping with a potential forever kind of lady love but doing goodness knows what on the side. Caught red handed, I give Kathy cudos for cutting things off right then and there. Yeah, she did so without even wasting her breath ranting and raving at him. “Good riddance” was obviously her motto. Unfortunately, she was weak and indecisive throughout most of this storyline.

Sure, we find out nothing happened, but Kevin openly admits he can’t recall if he had been with other women the same time he had been dating/sleeping with Kathy. As much as I tend to like this author, that was a character misstep that just isn’t acceptable to my avid romantic at heart. It was like adding spoiled milk to my first beloved cup of morning coffee. Try as I might to ignore it, I know it is still there, leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, and I’m just not that desperate for creamer to put up with it.

If a remorseful, former manho hero, who now “gets it” and wants the heroine back is your cup of tea, well, here you go. Here’s to hoping you do really enjoy it. His excuse of not knowing they were exclusive, despite the fact they were sleeping together regularly and going on lots of dates, wasn’t forgivable to me. Nor was it obviously to Kathy, as well, since she cut him loose. It just isn’t my idea of a romantic set-up to a heart melting read.

The underlying plot of putting up with him to protect Moira’s big wedding day from Kevin’s goofball habit of upsetting her didn’t endear me to Kevin either. Finding out the reason he’s been this way just proved he’s always been too much of a ladies man.

By 33%, I found the back and forth of “should I or shouldn’t I” trust him again exhausting. Kevin came across a little too inclined to settle down and have a family just because everyone else was. Overall, they just weren’t a very engaging couple, folks.

By 50%, there was a very established genuine vibe Kevin wanted this relationship to be for real. In fact, likely even more so than Kathy. But their lack of spending quality time together due to busy schedules, Kathy’s non-stop insecurities/weak personality and the author’s lack of progress in moving things along had me feeling like I was wasting my time. Even with smexy scenes that finally kicked in, I saw no reason to continue. By 60%, I tapped out. I wish this author all the best and hope others enjoy it. It just wasn’t working for me.

Title: From Your Heart, Series: For Your Love (Book 4), Author: Shannyn Schroeder, Pages: 320, stand-alone but part of a series, former manho hero, weak personality/insecure heroine, just not very engaging, overly drawn out.

I have loved Shannyn's book books since I read More Than This, and they keep getting better. Kevin owned who he was, he knows that he messed up with Kathy years before because he was young and stupid. He wasn't ready for a commitment but now he is. Figuring out a way to get her to trust him I again is the hard part.
Kathy was falling hard for Kevin and when she saw him with another woman, she ran. When he lets it be known that he wants another chance, she had a decision to make: shut him down our try to forgive. Wanting to forgive and actually forgiving are two totally different things.
There were definitely times that Kevin had me wishing that she would let him in and love her. I could also see her point, but didn't understand why she held on to the hurt, even after he confessed to everything. Overall, I absolutely loved this book and this couple. A great second chance romance, with snippets of characters from other Shannyn books.

I can't believe we are at the end of this series. I'm not ready to let either the O'Malley's or O'Leary's go. I've really loved reading about them. I enjoyed some stories more then others but as a whole both series were very good.

We are now at Kevin's story. Throughout the For Your Love series we haven't really seen or heard from him a lot. For me he was slightly forgettable. I'm talking before his book. I didn't forget him as I was reading his story, that would have been horrible wouldn't it?

I just meant that I personally don't remember him that much. Which meant I really didn't know his personality, only what I learn from other characters in the series and in this book. So as I read it I was a little clouded but others opinions of him. Mostly Kathy's and Moira.

Moira's thoughts on Kevin are harsh. Of course some of her feeling are leftovers from childhood that can't be forgotten. I wasn't sure why and what was so bad with him and what he did but I grew up with a pain in the backside brother.

I found that I really liked Kevin. He's a good guy and is working hard on growing up and starting the next time in his life. He's no longer the boy that's running around the neighborhood. He's ready for home and family. He works really hard on making things up with Kathy and believe me when I say she made him work double hard.

Not that I don't understand that she felt cheated on but once she found out that the time she thought he did he didn't. Also they both where on different pages back then. One of serious the other playing around and having fun. They really should have talked to each other and figured out what they both wanted. Instead, Kathy saw what she saw and ran instead of talking to him about it. I get that she has issues with her family but don't we all?

To be honest I think Kevin could have done better at times throughout this book. Now don't get me wrong I didn't hate Kathy or think her hurt wasn't justified. I just thought she was a little over the top about it. And her not being able to confront someone about anything instead runs away from a situation I don't know how she worked in retail. Customers are always pissed about something and yelling about it.

Kathy might not have been my favorite but I did really like Kevin so I was able to enjoy the story. By the end of the book I was really glad they both were able to deal with what they needed to deal with and moved on with their lives.

Like I mentioned at the top of this review I really loved these two families and hate that they are no longer around for me to enjoy. Yeah, I could reread but please the piles of books around my house say that I can't. I will mention that a new character in this book intrigued me, I don't remember his name or at least his last name if I remember his first name was Ronan I believe we need his story.

Kevin has changed but Kathy’s trust issues cannot. Lucky for him, Kathy is aware she has it because I know someone who does not accept that she has trust issues. Looking from the outside in, she is toxic in her relationships.

This story is less farfetched than most romance book I have read. They both have an average life, not the common filthy-rich man and seductive girl. I see Kathy not as a pretty lady-lead but as a beautiful woman. She can be an actual living person, not only a fictional character. Both protagonists having real jobs, not those over-the-top jobs I always read in romance books, made this story relatable. Even the problems they have are real struggles of a couple. This is a true representation of a relationship, a plausible contemporary romance story.

Kevin is an excellent carer. I’m also in therapy as you all know, and having a good carer is vital. Kevin is patient with Kathy, he is also understanding and sensitive to Kathy’s behavior. I appreciate Kevin being a supportive carer.

In conclusion, this is my second five-star book this year! The story is close to reality that it could pass as a biography, for all I know, this could be based on a true story.

I love both the O'Malley and O'Leary families and this book is a great addition to the series. Kevin O'Malley and Kathy Hendrick have history. Not a good one either. So when they are paired up in an O'Malley family wedding things get real interesting real fast! Kevin was always the biggest player in the family but he never realized the kind of damage he was doing. That is until Kathy sets him straight. He's changed though and he's willing to do whatever it takes to prove he's serious about Kathy but no amount of charm will persuade her. How far is he willing to go to win a second chance with her?

Loved this story and I definitely recommend it to everyone. It can be read as a standalone if you haven't enjoyed the rest of the books yet.

From Your Heart by Shannyn Schroeder
For Your Love #4

I really liked Kevin O’Malley and understood him. I had more trouble understanding and investing in Katherine and wondered, at times, what Kevin saw in her and why he felt he had to work so hard to get her back. This is a second chance at love romance that made me wish Kevin would end up with someone a bit stronger than Katherine. I enjoyed parts of the story, kind of understand why Katherine is so timid, has trust issues and tends to run rather than face feelings and situations BUT At her age I am thinking she should be more mature. She has her own business and has made a life for herself in some ways but in others is still kind of in limbo.

Kevin had some wild times before he settled into his job working in the governor’s office but has reached an age and stage in his life where he is ready to settle down and thinks Katherine is the woman for him. I am not sure if he is jealous of his siblings all falling in love and thinks she is the closest to what he wants or if he is remembering the past and how things were when he dated her before.

Anyway, it was an okay story but I definitely enjoyed the others in this series more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington – Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I like these O'Malley's. Loud, brash and completely Irish along with their neighbors, the O'Leary's.
This is Kevin O'Malley's story starring along with his ex Kathy Hendricks. Kathy and Kevin have history. Didn't end well and Kathy ran. She's a runner. It's what she does to avoid conflict. So ending a relationship 5 years ago the two of them find themselves front and center for a family wedding. Kevin's brother Jimmy, who I loved and Kathy's best friend and the biggest Kevin hater on earth Moira O'Leary. I have to say I loved Jimmy and Moira a tad more than Kevin and Kathy.
5 years is a long time, people change (sort of) Kevin now works in the Chicago Mayors office and Kathy owns her own flower shop. She's got a great business and that was always her dream.
This story about Kevin and Kathy is based on trust. Kevin cheated on Kathy, or at least he thinks he did. She catches him with another woman and of course runs, but when these two finally talk about what happened Kevin tried to tell her that while they were the best thing in his life, he thought they were casual and he may have slept with other women. Yeah Kevin, that's going to make me feel really great about myself. You're already on shaky ground, you've been warned off by both Jimmy and Moira who is like a pit bull. A year go by and Kevin decides he wants to try again with Kathy, and carefully approaches. Since the wedding is getting closer and these two have to plan much of the activities they need to spend time together. Kathy is really reluctant and keeps her distance. Kevin thinks he's slick as cat crap with his fast talk and charming smile that will soften Kathy a little each time. Kathy is no fool. She's the Alcatraz of wary, burned women. So the story goes, each of the brothers weighs in, Kevin is basically a cross between jealous and lonely I think. All his brothers are attached in one way or another, his best friend Moira's brother even has a girl and then there's Kevin.
Being mindful Kathy seems to be happily sailing along and during the year between the engagement party and actual wedding prep, we don't hear about Kathy much. Kathy has a business to run and she sure as hell doesn't need Kevin back in her life when she can't trust him. And the worm turns.
Kevin is striving to make his way up the ladder at the Mayors office, which he finally is rewarded for after putting in many long hours and days without seeing Kathy. They've agreed to date. Which is kind of funny because he has no time. So he squeaks her in here and there. He does put in the effort.
And she does too. But their relationship isn't without it's problems. Kevin doesn't listen. He diminishes Kathy's feelings and tries humor and sex to smooth it over. Leaving Kathy to wonder what she's doing and not so good for her trust and self esteem either. Kevin is flipping clueless. It takes a few rounds with Jimmy and even Sean on one very drunk night to kick his a@@ into gear. Even then
he's just......
I really liked the book. I liked the plot. Loved all the family members and Kathy. Kevin wore me out.
I didn't like him as person, a mate for Kathy nor as a family member. Kevin is all about Kevin. By the end of the book I was sick of him (as were his family members ) I wanted Kathy to pack it in. He was just too everything you despise in a selfish man and not the book boyfriend kind. This would have worked a little better if Kevin even has a freaking ounce of humility. He had zip.
All that said, you should read the book. It's great seeing Jimmy and Moira tie the knot and the rest of the clan and the pub. I haven't read Jimmy and Moira's story but it's on my list. I can only imagine.
Moira is a piece of work.

I feel as if I'm part of this wonderful community in Chicago and these two lovable Irish families. As a huge fan of both series, O'Malley and O'Leary, it was exciting to have all the kids together for the wedding of the couple bringing both together, Moira and Jimmy. It's Moira's friend Kathy and Jimmy's brother Kevin that need to repair an old flame. Can his mistake be forgiven? Can she learn to stand up for herself? I've read almost all books in both series and while they are great, it is not necessary to read them in order to appreciate these families. My copy came through Netgalley and my review written voluntarily.

Kevin could just be so awkward at times, "he nodded, feeling more foolish. “Here.” He thrust the box of chocolates at her." Kevin has selective hearing, "the look he gave her let her know he was mentally undressing her. She rolled her eyes. “Out of all the words that just came out of my mouth, the only one you heard was ‘shower’?” I really liked this book, Kevin was a good guy the man was on a mission where Kathy was concerned.

I read an arc copy from NG for review purposes

I LOVED this story. It is my first time reading this series and I fell hard for the series. It has a lot of another book and couple Moira and Jimmy (Catch Your Breath) so I ended up buying that book too and plan to read it. So I do suggest you read that before.

Kathy and Kevin met 4 years before at a block party. Moira is Kathy's best friend and Jimmy is Kevin's older brother. They hooked up/dated and then Kathy saw Jimmy with another woman. Then she ghosted him. Now 18 months before the story begins Moira and Jimmy are engaged and Kevin sees Kathy at the party and wants her but she has a boyfriend but he discovers that the reason she dumped him was he cheated on her and he apologizes. The book then opens in the present and it is time to plan the wedding and bachelor/ette party and that is how Kevin and Kathy start talking. Now Kathy is single and Kevin is ready for more and he wants it with Kathy but he has to convince her to give him a chance.

I really LOVED Kevin. He totally owns up to his mistakes and he is a go getter whether it is career or Kathy. Kathy I had a harder time with. She is a runner and she really lives in her head a little too much at times. I loved her relationship with Moira but she had some really serious issues and it became issues at times. As a whole I LOVED this story despite Kathy .

A very sweet and sexy second chance romance. I just dropped down into the middle of the O'Leary/O'Malley Clan but I know this is a group I want to read about so this book has hooked me and I'll be going back to the beginning with this series.

Kevin was a typical love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy and didn't realize what he was throwing away or the damage he was inflicting. For him, the one that got away was Kathy - his brother's fiancees best friend. For Kathy, Kevin is the jerk who ruined her trust.

I understand that there was a misunderstanding that caused the rift between the two and reading as they learned to forgive, forget and heal was really an emotional journey. While we should hate the player and assumed-but maybe not cheater- unless there is something horrendous in the other books of this series- I was frustrated with how Kevin was treated. Kathy was mousey and ran away rather than getting the facts- assumed rather than knew what went down and even where she stood with Kevin. Kevin admittedly was a jerk. However, all of the things with Moira and everyone always giving Kevin grief and doubting, assuming was driving me nuts. Kevin had made huge changes in his life and no one seemed to give him credit or a pass on his idiotic youth. I guess rather than hate the alleged cheater I felt compassion for a guy whose sins of the past were constantly being used to judge a much improved and respectful current life.

Kathy had some serious issues that hurt her trust. I actually listened to the last part of this book while driving and was in tears. Her mom and the apartment visit started that and they lasted the rest of the book. However, the moving scene at the end brought back laughter.

Can't wait to read this series.
