Love is in the air! Geronimo has met the mouse of his dreams but he just can’t play it cool. He needs to do something amazing, something incredible to catch her attention! What better way than by searching for the Eighth Wonder of the World: the mysterious Valley of the Cheeselets?

Will he return home a legend? And will it all be worth it in the end?

Kid is a long time fan of the series and says this one is ok. Read this back to back with Lost Treasure of the Emerald Eye and scored this one slightly less.

My son read this book and he said its a good book but he remembers reading the book before. It was called All Because of a Cup of Coffee. He recommends reading books by Geronimo Stilton. Gives the book a rating of 5 stars.

My nine year old son who devoured this book. Brightly coloured with attractive pictures. He found it easy to read.

A large corner in my childish heart is reserved for Geronimo Stilton, the mouse owner of the Rodent’s Gazette in New Mouse City. I started reading his books some years ago in the original, since I wanted to improve my colloquial Italian. And I loooove him still. And now Geronimo has fallen in looove with the gorgeous Countess Stephanie whose looks and charms completely floor Geronimo. His sister, cousin and nephew persuade him to go in search of the lost Valley of the Cheesettes, cheese-flavoured butterflies. They promise him that once he is famous, his admired Stephanie will fall in love with him. So he braves everything he is normally scared of, like fast motorbikes, flying, boats, darkness and seasickness. Will this adventure secure him the undying love of the countess?

This is the first Geronimo Stilton book we have read and unfortunately it was not for us. To begin with my 5 year old son laughed but soon he was asking how much longer we had to read. My 9 year old daughter never seemed to get into it and at about 50% she asked if we had to finish it. We read together every night and it is rare that they don't want to finish a book. I finished it by myself and while bits are fun and cute we won't be looking for more Geronimo Stilton books.

This addition to the Geronimo Stilton series is about Geronimo having a crush on a pretty mouse, then getting dragged on an adventure by his family to forget his disappointment. This story is as entertainingly silly as all the others in the series. The one part that I did not like very much was the fact that Geronimo is hit by a tram early in the book, yet was not even seriously injured by it. I'd like young readers to take seriously the dangers of being hit by vehicles. Yes, I know that this is fiction, but that part bothers me. If my students read this, I would like an adult to remind them about the dangers of being close to train tracks, streets, etc. Sadly, even teenagers have been killed doing things like taking selfies on train tracks, so education on this issue is necessary....

I received this book for review via NetGalley.

I first noticed these books almost 10 years ago when I visited somebody and noticed them on their children’s bookshelves. Though I wanted to, I never really got down to reading one but when I saw this one offered through NetGalley, I simply couldn’t resist.

So for the book now. Geronimo Stilton is an Italian book series featuring the eponymous hero who is the publisher of the Rodent’s Gazette. In this one (alternatively titled All Because of a Cup of Coffee) in a diner, a gorgeous mouse spills coffee on Geronimo and he is instantly in love (despite having a series of accidents just after). So much so, that he ignores his staff not working, forgets some of their names even, only dreaming of his love, and doodling hearts. He buys flowers, cheese-flavoured chocolates, but Stephanie von Sugarfur is simply not interested. In fact, she already has an admirer. To win her over, Thea, Geronimo’s sister convinces him that he has to be ‘famouse’ so they, with their cousin Trap, and little nephew Benjamin set off on an adventure to find the world’s eighth wonder―the Valley of the Cheesettes on Butterfly Island.

This was a really fun read. One could almost describe this as a picture book, with illustrations aplenty. The characters are cute and fun as well. Geronimo might well be a journalist/newspaper publisher but he isn’t all that keen on adventure (he scared of pretty much everything)―circumstances and his friends drag him into it. Thea (who I thought great fun) is his opposite―adventurous, a biker, and even flies her own plane. The story was pretty enjoyable, including the end. Besides the story itself I loved the little touches like the names of the characters and cheese references, besides also the maps and things. Since the ‘author’ of these adventures is supposed to be Geronimo himself, there is a nice little bio of him at the end describing him as a Rattus Emeritus of Mousomorphic Literature and Neo-Ratonic Comparative Philosophy and winner of the Ratlizer Prize, among other things. There are also maps of the New Mouse City, Mouse Island, and the offices of the Rodent’s Gazette, where the adventures are set. (In the e-version I got though, these were a little blurry, especially Mouse Island). Still I enjoyed the illustrations (these were B&W―I think the ones in the books are coloured), idea, and story. A quick and entertaining read.

Yet another cute one in the Geronimo Stilton series! This is a great series for kids that kids enjoy. It's cute without being overly cute or sickly sweet. There's always humor, in this one even more than some of the others. If I have one complaint with these books, it's one of the same things that makes them cute; replacing parts of words with synonyms for mousy things (i.e. fabumouse instead of fabulous). This could confuse some young readers but if you start off reading them with your child or if they ask, you can explain this. It's definitely minor in comparison to many of the things that you can find in kids books. Overall, this is definitely a solid addition to the Geronimo Stilton series and I look forward to many more!

I would like to thank the publisher, author, and Netgalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't finish this book so I won't publish the review on any publish media. I just didn't really get the story line and I didn't care for the illustrations. I think a first time reader wouldn't get the object of the story and an 8 year old would be bored with it.

Sorry, my opinion.

💔 Achy Breaky Heart Month! 💔 Super 🧀 Cheesy 🧀 Edition!

Geronimo Stilton: Hang on to Your Whiskers was just as 🧀 Gouda 🧀 as The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid, probably better. In this book Geronimo falls in love at first sight at the Tail Trap Diner over a cup of spilled coffee. ☕️ Geronimo later discovers this 🐭 fabumouse 🐭 new love interest is none other than countess Stephanie von Sugarfur. He thinks she’s the best thing since 🧀 sliced cheese 🧀!

After spending big on an 🧀 Aboundance 🧀 of 🧀 cheesy 🧀 gifts for the countess and realising his love is unrequited he becomes 🧀 Moody Blue 🧀. Geronimo’s sister Thea, cousin Trap and favourite nephew Benjamin decide they’ve 🧀 Goats 🧀 to lift him out of his 🧀 Off Kilter 🧀 state and after reading an article about the mysterious Eighth Wonder, the Valley of the 🧀 Cheesettes 🧀, they are certain they’ve found a way to repair Geronimo’s 💔 Achy Breaky Heart 💔.

The family wind up on a semi 🧀 Impromptu 🧀 trip to search for this Eighth Wonder. Perhaps if they succeed they will become 🐭 famouse 🐭. Naturally it’s up to the 9 year old to save the day because all of the adults are behaving like 🐭 mouselets 🐭.

Some of the best exclamations in this book include:
🧀 Cheese niblets!
🐀 Rancid Rat Hairs!
🧀 Holey cheese!

This book was first published in 2000 so the presence of a camera that has film that needs to be developed makes sense in that context. Ah, nostalgia. I loved my days working in a Photolab! The stories I could tell you - but won’t because this is a review of a children’s book. 📷 😜

This series is aimed at 🐭 mouselets 🐭 from 5 to 8 years who love to read and those who don’t. With splashes of funky formatted font, funny illustrations that complement the story well and maps of New 🐭 Mouse 🐭 City, 🐭 Mouse 🐭 Island and The 🐀 Rodent’s 🐀 Gazette, there’s plenty to keep the reader 🐭 amoused 🐭. I loved the illustrations and I’d just like to point out that on the cover those are glow in the dark butterflies!! 🦋😃 I’d like to place an order for several hundred of those please.

Overall I enjoyed this book more than The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid, probably because this one had a resolution and didn’t do the always irritating ‘Someone told me it would make a great story so I wrote a book about it, and guess what?! This is that story!' thing.

Thank you very much to NetGalley and Sweet Cherry 🍒 Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

P.S. Apologies for recycling the 🧀 cheesy 🧀 names from my previous review but they worked for this one too. You may now press charges against me for excessive use of emojis and crimes against humour. 😊
