This is another great addition to the bibliophile mystery series. I very much enjoyed the wedding details and the way that the mystery was worked in along side the events of the wedding. The mystery was an interesting one that brought up a lot of past strife between Brooklyn and her friends. The book was a little slower than usual though and it took me a while to get into it. The mystery didn’t begin until about 40% into the book. I also wished the book the mystery centered around was focused on a little bit more. It almost felt like an after thought. Overall though I enjoyed the story and look  forward to the next book in the series. If you love cozy mysteries then this is a great series to check out!

"In the latest in this New York Times bestselling series, matrimony and murder collide as San Francisco book-restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright walks down the aisle...

Brooklyn has it all covered. She’s triple-checked her wedding to-do list, and everything is on track for the upcoming ceremony with the love of her life, security expert Derek Stone.

Not everyone has been as lucky in love as Brooklyn. Her old college roommates Heather and Sara lost touch twelve years ago when Sara stole Heather’s boyfriend. Brooklyn was caught in the middle and hasn’t seen her former besties since their falling-out. When they both show up at her surprise bridal shower, Brooklyn is sure drama will ensue. But she’s touched when the women seem willing to sort out their differences and gift her rare copies of The Three Musketeers and The Red Fairy Book.

Brooklyn’s prewedding calm is shattered when one of her formerly feuding friends is found murdered and Brooklyn determines that one of the rare books is a forgery. She can’t help but wonder if the victim played a part in this fraud, or if she was targeted because she discovered the scam. With a killer and con artist on the loose, Brooklyn and Derek—with the unsolicited help of their meddling mothers—must catch the culprit before their big day turns into a big mess."

Books and San Francisco means I am SOLD!

Series readers will be thrilled the wedding is finally here for Brooklyn and Derek! But not without a mystery (and unfortunately, a body) in the interim as they are in the final week before the big day. I'm not sure if it's the planner in me but I found it really hard to believe how blasé Brooklyn was about her wedding. She signed up for the library conference and the sessions the same week and Derek's family has come over to celebrate in advance. She spends pretty much no time with them and does hardly anything for the wedding because it always seems to be someone elses's job. It was hard to suspend disbelief about this and focus on the mystery. As a reader of the series, I've seen her fall for Derek, get engaged, and now it's all secondary to her sleuthing, which is quite jarring.

The mystery around Sara's death and the forgery were important, but Brooklyn is not a detective on the case. She refuses to leave it to detectives though, despite being upset with her reputation at the conference of being someone who keeps stumbling over dead bodies instead of someone who specializes in rare books. I would've enjoyed the mystery a lot more if it hadn't been around avoiding the wedding, though that does serve as a catalyst for the three friends to be in touch again when Brooklyn's mom invites them to her wedding shower.

How does the forgery tie into the mystery of Sara's death? Is Heather involved? What about Sara's husband (Heather's ex) who they don't think is on the up-and-up? Lots of interesting questions to answer as Brooklyn and Derek sort out the mystery. Overall, I found the wedding details and events just one too many elements in the story between the friend reunion, the family all being there, the wedding planning, the library conference, the forgery, the conference attendees going to Brooklyn's workshops and tours because of her (strongly disliked) ability to stumble across dead bodies, finding Sara's body, spending all her time on the mystery to the point where it pretty much does wreck the wedding. There were too many elements and they did not fit. While I raced through the book to get answers, ultimately it was a jumbled, unsatisfying story and I didn't care about them by the time I got to the conclusion.

A fun mystery with a strong female protagonist. Many characters, a few "red-herrings" and a good ending.
Brooklyn is planning her wedding and getting the last minute details down while at the same time attending a conference and giving a workshop. When she meets up with two long lost friends, the conflict starts. when she finds one of them dead the next day, suspicions and suspects start piling up. The epilogue sums everything up nicely.

A continuation in the bibliophile mystery series. Brooklyn continues to get better as a character and I continue to love the plot twists in each new story.

Each book in this wonderful series is better than the last! The series is populated with so many wonderful, funny and quirky characters that you just want to plan a huge dinner and invite them all over! The books are filled with humor and such wonderful descriptions of San Francisco that you feel as if you live there yourself. Great writing, great humor, great mystery and a lovely romance the series, and this book has them all!

Brooklyn and Derek’s wedding is just days away. All of the arrangements are made and she even has her bags packed for their honeymoon in Paris. So, what is she to do to fill the few days until the big event? Well, she’s going to attend and do a workshop, a talk and a Book Lovers Tour of San Francisco for twenty contest winners at the National Librarians Association conference held just a few blocks from her home. That should surely keep the wedding jitters away. NOT.

While on the convention floor, she is greeted by an old graduate school friend, Heather, that she hasn’t spoken to in over twelve years. Brooklyn is not sure how she feels about seeing Heather because their friendship didn’t end well. Once, Brooklyn, Heather, and Sara we the best of friends and were known as The Three Musketeers. Then, Sara stole Heather’s boyfriend and the friendship was fractured beyond repair.

Leave it to Brooklyn to end up trying to help solve a murder before she says her wedding vows when one of her friends ends up dead and another is a suspect. Can Brooklyn and Derek solve the murder and still make it to the altar on time? You’ll just have to read this delightful book to find out.

One of the things I loved about the book was how absolutely joyous Brooklyn was as she looked forward to her marriage. There is no second-guessing in that relationship. If you add Derek’s delightful family to Brooklyn’s sweet, quirky one – you have a marriage and family made in heaven.

More than half the book is a rehash of previous books, the murder is more shocking than peoples' reactions, and - just blah. I've enjoyed previous books in the series, but not this one. One more than minimum star because I just love reading about binding, restoring, and enjoying old books.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I absolutely love this series and this book definitely did not disappoint! Brooklyn is about to finally get married, but there is a book convention, a forgery, a murder and more going on that may prevent Brooklyn from finally getting her happily ever after if she doesn't figure out what is going on and do so fast! Fantastic character development with a funny and interesting plot to keep you intrigued as you flip the pages! The "moms" (Brooklyn's mother and her future mother-in-law) alone will have you giggling, but the book is just packed with great characters and interactions! The only caution I'll add is, just don't go to fast or you'll end up being sad like me as you sit waiting for the next book to be written!

Brooklyn is speaking at a library conference when her two library school roommates reappear, along with some valuable books. But there's murder afoot, and Brooklyn is torn between counting down the days to her wedding and finding out what happened to an old friend. This was a fun installment, especially since it culminated in Brooklyn and Derek's wedding, but there was plenty of sleuthing along the way. As a librarian, it was also a delight to see Brooklyn went to my alma mater, and to have her at a library conference.

Plans for Brooklyn Wainwright to Derek Stone at completed and her bags are packed for the honeymoon. Derek's family has arrived for the affair and are staying in Dharm with Brooklyn's family. She decided to attend a library conference. Yes, meets college roommates she hasn't seen or about twelve years. Sara and Heather became enemies. At a bridal shower Heather gave Brooklyn a first edition book, Sara not to be in down gave Brooklyn a first edition book that didn't belong to Sara. The book was worth mega bucks. The attempts of Sara's husband employee to recover the book make an amusing tale and the book turns out to be a forgery. Sara is missing and Brooklyn and Derek discovered her body beneath a mountain of books. Inspector Lee has the case. Derek it's is team watching their home during the rehearsal dinner. There is a mix-up that delays the wedding. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and series. Tasty recipes are included.

Buried in Books is my first book by this author. It’s a mystery and the mystery didn’t really begin until around 40% of my kindle. I thought it started off a little slow but we learned all about the friend’s past when they were in college. I just liked this book ok. Maybe if I had read all the others prior to this I would’ve enjoyed this one more? Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a complimentary ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

It's the week of her wedding and Brooklyn has a Library Conference to attend, tours to give AND get herself down the aisle! Throw in a murder and her week is full! Old friends reuniting can be a happy or a maddening occasion. This week it isn't the best of times for them. Brooklyn uses her calm and efficient manner to make it through plus solve the mystery before the wedding. This was an entertaining read!

BURIED IN BOOKS, the twelfth book in the Bibliophile Mystery series by Kate Carlisle is one that fans have long been waiting for: protagonist Brooklyn Wainwright is getting ready to marry heart-throb Derek Stone. I love how the author has developed their relationship over the series and while this is a mystery and not a romance, it echoes what most readers want: real life with a happy ending… well, except for the dead bodies that Brooklyn seems to find. Her own mother calls her a murder magnet and Brooklyn’s future mother-in-law is starting to agree. While I adore Brooklyn and Derek as characters, Brooklyn’s mother, Becky, and Derek’s mother, Meg, steal each scene they are in. They add zany humor to the story that kept me laughing out loud, yet beneath that is unconditional love and support for their offspring which I find refreshing. In fact, both Brooklyn’s family and Derek’s family are close-knit and seem to get along well together with the impending wedding. I enjoy that Ms. Carlisle focuses the dysfunction on the murderer and not on family.

Amongst the backdrop of wedding plans and a workshop on rare book restoration that Brooklyn is presenting at the National Librarians Association Conference, the murder of one of her old college friends takes place. The theme of betrayal and trust plays throughout the story which I found poignant with Brooklyn’s wedding right around the corner. It also touches on regret of losing friends over the course of years and the joys of reconnecting. There were plenty of suspicious characters introduced and I didn’t want to put the book down until I found out the culprit at the suspense reveal. I also couldn’t wait to find out if Brooklyn was going to get her dream wedding! Ms. Carlisle provides a page-turning story that will thrill her many fans and gain her new ones!

This is the twelfth book in the Bibliophile series. I've read the previous installments and always enjoy them. We've finally made it to the week of Brooklyn and Derek's wedding. The "National Librarians Association" conference is meeting in San Francisco, and Brooklyn is leading a bookbinding workshop (I would register for this if the real ALA had a similar offering). At the conference, Brooklyn runs into her library school roommates who used to be her best friends before one of them stole the other's boyfriend and broke up the group. Of course, one old friend is murdered and Brooklyn ends up in the middle of the investigation.

As in the previous Bibliophile books, the pace is quick, the characters are fun, and Brooklyn figures out who dunnit. Derek's and Brooklyn's families are around for the wedding, so we get to see a little of them, and Guru Bob makes a too-brief appearance. I missed getting to spend time in Dharma, as all the action took place in the city this time around. In fact, I missed a lot of characters because Brooklyn and Derek don't spend much time with anybody else this time. I would have liked a little more of their neighbors Vinnie and Suzy, but I was glad Minka wasn't around to be a jerk. Fans of the series will enjoy Buried in Books, and new readers--especially librarians or book nerds--will like it, too.

This was a great mystery and I loved finally being able to read about Brooklyn and Derek get married.

This is the twelfth book in the Bibliophile series. I've read all the prior books and was so excited to finally witness the long-awaited marriage of Brooklyn and Derek. Immediately prior to their big day, Brooklyn unexpectedly runs into her old graduate school roommates at the library conference in San Francisco. Sara and Heather had been locked in a bitter feud for the past twelve years because Sara had stolen Heather's boyfriend and was now married to him. Sara and Rod now ran an antiquarian book business with a booth at the conference. However, both women decide to try to make peace and each gift Brooklyn a special book for her wedding shower. But one of their gifts may not what it appears to be and may have led to her murder.

While the murder itself took a bit too long to develop in the story for my taste and the plot wasn't terribly complex, I enjoyed the interaction between Brooklyn and Derek's families. They get along like they have known each other for years and join forces to help them catch the killer before anything else comes between the wedding ceremony.

*** Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. My review is voluntary.

It's another enjoyable outing with Brooklyn Wainwright, this time happening right before her wedding as the ALA (presumably) conference is happening in her hometown. I love books, libraries, and murder mysteries, and this literary cozy series seldom disappoints. I always like catching up with Brooklyn, her wacky family and friends, Derek, and whatever mysterious old book lies at the center of the mystery.

This one was good, as usual, though I thought her mom and Derek's mom were ridiculously over-the-top on Brooklyn's bus tour of literary stops. I know her mom is a lovable kook--that's been well-established throughout the entire season. I thought there was no way she would behave like she did with Meg on the tour, making Brooklyn exceedingly uncomfortable and turning real-life deaths into shock entertainment bits.

I also thought it was an awfully long time before the murder actually happens, with too much "Was she serious about saying, I'll kill that person," etc. happening.

Those two gripes aside, I had a great time spending a few hours in the world of books, crime, broken friendships, betrayal, fraud, and murder.

Brooklyn and Derek are getting married in one week. They are packing in the activities in this last week and add investigating murder when Brooklyn's old friend Sara is buried in books. There is an early edition of the Three Musketeers involved. There always needs to be a book involved in the mystery.
I fully enjoyed this new installment of the Bibliophile Mysteries. I think my enjoyment was increased by having read the other books in the series. I like the characters and getting to learn more about their lives. This would also be enjoyable as a standalone read.

The Bibliophile Mystery Series has been a favorite of mine, though I'll admit I missed a few along the way to this one, number twelve in the series. You would think that the story would lose its luster, but not so at all. This was another great installment, with hopefully more to come.

It took a while for the murder to show up in the story, which might be my only gripe here. Otherwise, I loved seeing all the familiar characters, meeting new ones, and seeing Brooklyn solve the mystery with help of her almost-husband Derek and the rest of her wedding guests.

The whodunit (and whydunit) of the mystery wasn't too much of a surprise despite the long setup, but the characters and story were so charming, I didn't mind. If you haven't read this cozy mystery series, I'd highly recommend it--start at the beginning with Homicide in Hardcover, and you're set for a while...
