Hot and Badgered was such a fun story with added suspense and romance. Berg and Charlie are wonderful together and complement each other so well. Charlie and her sisters are victims in another one of their fathers schemes. Berg is utterly smitten with Charlie and will do anything to protect her and her crazy sisters. This book was so entertaining, I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed Charlie’s sisters as well as Berg’s brother and sister. It was nice to revisit some past characters as well. I can’t wait to see where the MacKilligan’s take us next time.

If you've read Shelly Laurenston, you know this book is amazing. Packed with favorites from herm shifter series, this book introduces what promises to be a whole new fun and exciting crop of shifters.
I was laughing out loud and couldn't get enough of this book. So I read it beginning to end in one day. Twice.

Fantastic, loved this story. I have really missed Shelly's shifter series' (not the dragon ones, I don't like those). Kick assness, brutality, animistic behaviour, weirdness, uniqueness and humour that's the main character the rest follow suit. It was a really humorous fun read.

Laurenston is one of my favorite authors. Whenever I am in need of a book that is guaranteed to slap a smile on my face I usually grab something written by her. Is this book a literary masterpiece? No, but it’s damn funny, full of interesting characters, and there is just enough paranormal to keep me interested.

This is a spin-off to the author’s Pride series. If you haven’t read those, please start there.

Where Laurenston shines is how she writes her characters. They are ALL flawed. They have panic disorders, mommy/daddy issues, crazy families, etc., and they all are shifters. There animal side is very much a part of who they are. These aren’t characters that can turn into animals. If they are a bear shifter, they are also bearlike in human form: curious, love honey, don’t play well with other breeds. The honey badgers are scrappy, tend to want to take things that aren’t theirs, and they also love honey. The focus couple in this are a grizzly bear shifter and a honey badger/wolf hybrid. They are good together. The bear is very patient and is exactly what the hybrid needs considering her crazy family. Her two sisters are a big part of this book because her whole life has been focused on keeping them safe, mostly from their asshat of a father.

A lot of this story is set up for future stories. Normally have a hard time getting through a book like this, but not this one. Laurenston’s characters are so cool I enjoyed being introduced to each one of them, and there are quite a few.

While led this is a romance book, there wasn’t a lot of focus on the couple. I was okay with that, but I do feel like I would have liked to see them interact more. More times where he was a hero for her, he did, but I wanted more of him crushing bad guys with his bear strength.

Really recommend this book, actually all books written by this author.

Very entertaining read; fast paced with the plot threads. Good chemistry between the lead characters and witty banter.

I’m pretty sure I’ve read everything Shelly Laurenston has written. She is one of those authors that does not fail to entertain. Hot and Badgered is no exception. If you like funny....action.....snarky......some sweet.....some sexy.......well then get the book!

This really was a crazy, awesome read. I loved these psychotic girls. I think they depicted a human equivalent of honey badgers. Dangerous and manic. 3 sisters who are hybrid shifters. Half honey badger from their despicable fathers side. The youngest sister is a psychotic genius savant that everyone seems to be after to abduct. Her oldest sister, Charlie, seems to be the only one who can get a grip on her 2 sisters manic, fighting behavior. With assassins and kidnappers after them, they stumble onto bear shifters who help them and Charlie gets a HEA. I look forward to their continuing story. I can't be totally impartial, I really enjoy Laurenston's shifter books. This one was no exception. I like the way the characters interact, the love between the family members and their friends. The support from the neighbors, who quickly develop into friends was nice.

Verdict: Recommended for fans of her other works, and fans who like strong intelligent female characters who take no crap from anyone.

Can I just say that I loved this book. This is a paranormal shape shifter book that does end in a cliff hanger and features characters from the authors previous series. This story features the MacKilligan family of half siblings. Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan is part honey badger and wolf and her two half siblings are also part honey badger. They have always been on the run after their mother was killed (this was never explained unless I missed it) and they went to leave with Charlie's biological grandfather (wolf). The sisters are a handful and are very powerful and strong. While on the run due to their father once again selling them out or just selling them, Charlie runs into Berg who is a bear shifter. She leaves quite an impression on Berg, that when he run into her again with her sisters he offers to help her family. There are plenty of ups, downs and adventures with the MacKilligan family and lots of fighting. This is a great book and even though there wasn't much romance until the end of the book, I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to have some of the unanswered questions resolved in future books. I would recommend this book to fans of this genre.

As soon as I finish Laurenston's latest book, my countdown begins for her next book. I loved the dynamic of the sisters in this first of a new series. The all-bear neighbourhood was delightful (as long as you secured your garbage), and the Dunn family triplets were entertaining. The book has a breakneck pace, and a cast of a million characters. It could be read as a stand alone, but strongly benefits from having read her previous Pride series. I would have liked a longer reunion with all of my old favourite characters, hopefully the well continue to pop up in the final two books in the trilogy.

Hot and badgered is a phenomenal evolving of Shelley laurenston’s shifter world. The sisters give us bad ass heroines and the laughs kept coming. We got the chance to see how many of our favorite shifters are doing, that they have children and that life is still wacky and fun. Respect to anyone who can take on de-Ann Smith. I am looking forward to the great reads Shelley is sure to bring us with her next chapter of shifter romance.. read on

WOOOHOOO!!!! Another great read. Charlie watches out for her two sister Max and Stevie.  They are all different in their own way. Charlie is the peacekeeper and watches out for the other two. Max is the enforcer. She likes to fight, and boy will she fight to the end. Stevie is the genius with mental disorders. Oh, and she is afraid of bears, but if her family really needs her, she will go off her meds to turn into...... Well, I will just let you find out. Hehe!! When her Dad  steals 1 million pounds, people are coming after the sisters to get it back. Charlie meets Berg when she climbs into a window to his room to get away from the goons in Italy. They don't meet again until she gets state side. The sisters end up taking sanctuary in Berg's neighborhood.  Which by the way is full of bears. Oh, poor, poor Stevie! Let the fun and chaos begin!! I think my new favorite book in the series is this one for now. I recommend this book and series to everyone. Definitely go out and get it! I give Hot and Badgered (The Honey Badgers) 5/5 stars.

Laurenston continues her hilarious paranormal romance shifter series with the launch of a new sub-series featuring the honey badgers. The badass honey badgers. This is a good jumping on point for new readers, and long-time fans will absolutely adore these characters.

This is a review from an ARC provided by NetGalley for a honest review . Hot and Badgered is the first from a spinoff from the ever popular Pride series by Shelly Laurenston. The story continue on the Badger side of the story (introduced in Bite Me (Pride #9)), after the wolf/pride and bear story. Thus we see more of the badger but with a new cast of character, but with frequent appearance of the old that we know and love.
From the old character we of course met Livy and Vic (Bite Me) in the old introducing the new kind of way. She is the sort of cousin of the new heroine Charlie, (her real cousin, Max, is the half sister from their mothers side and the sisters are related on the father side). You can't have Livy without having Toni Jean-Louis Parker (Wolf with Benefits (Pride #8)) and the rest of her crazy sibling. In fact, the hero, Berg, is the bodyguard of Cooper Jean-Louis Parker along with his triplet, Britta and Dag. If we have Toni and Livy, we have Hockey/Derby witch mean we have Bo and Blayne (Beast Behaving Badly (Pride #5)) witch incidentally Berg triplet Britta also play with casually. In Hockey we have Cella and Lou (Bear Meets Girl (Pride #7)) witch also bring KZS, and along that Dee-Ann and Ric (Big Bad Beast (Pride #6)) her partner from the GROUP incidentally we were introduced to their really adorable daughter Lizzy, who unfortunately for her father took a little too much from her Smith side, particularly her mother. Ric and Dee-Ann are not the only characters to have kids, Bo and Blayne, have three, especially a cute giggling little girl who delight running off and have her father chasing her.
Now into the story, the three half sisters (Charlie, Max, and last but not least Stevie) are MacKilligans Honey Badger. Their father Freddy had them from a different mother each, not only that different specie. Charlie the heroine is half wolf, Stevie the youngest, half tiger, with only Max being a full Honey Badger, her mother being from the elusive Yang (hence her connection to Livy). Their father like all honey badger and fox is a con artist. But that is not the problem, the problem is that he is particularly bad at it. And he had a tendency to embroiled his daughters, in his scheme when thing inevitably go tit up. That is how the story start, with an army trying to kill the two oldest (Charlie, and Max) so they could get to Stevie undeterred who is a genius in the Irene Van Holtz (When He Was Bad (Magnus Pack #3.5)), who incidentally made a cameo appearance with her husband when things went to sh*t. That is how Charlie met Berg, who unfortunately she wont recognize when they next met, because she was without her glasses at that time (who had time to search for the thing when being shot at) as she is near sighted, and also have allergy and can't smell a d*mm without her medicine (witch she also left in her hurry to escape) The sisters quickly deduce this was a scheme of their father that they got unwittingly dragged into, and set to find out what was the clusterf*ck this time, and make sure that anyone who had a beef with their father to leave them alone, as they had nothing to do with the man, and doesn't care one wit what happens to them (a feeling that is entirely mutual) unless it involve fleecing them of their money (something the sisters do not appreciate). The lesson of leave them the f*ck alone had the unfortunate side effect of having the three agency give them a hard side eyes, but that was smoothed over by Charlie diplomatic and smooth talking way. All in all, everyone worked hard in the end to find Freddy, and whom he pissed of this time all in the bag drop of the wedding of the year, without ruining said wedding.
This was all done with Shelly particular brand of humor, meeting new characters, and new specie, (the wolverine was introduced) get news of old characters, all this with plenty of action to spice it up. We even had Kyle Jean-Louis Parker, older but still a sanctimonious little bastard, with finally someone who can tolerate him (Stevie). Speaking of Stevie their is a hint of something between her and Shen (Vic best Panda friend (Bite Me #8)), hint, hint Shelly for them to be the next book. This is a good intro book into the series, although with the wide range of old character one would be smart to try to read them after. And it is an absolute gem for old fan, we get to find out what is going on with our old beloved characters as well as meeting new one. Bonus, we get more books in the series we know and love!
This is an absolute two thumbs up and five star!

I didn't fall in love with the first Shelly Laurenston book I read, but when I fell, I fell hard.

One summer I read her whole (10 book) Pride Series, trying to explain how delightful these books are is somewhat difficult. I found myself portioning this book out to myself, and then staying up too late to read it. It's addictive and a ton of fun.

I find the cast of characters somewhat unwieldy, and I don't know how you'd feel if you were new to the series. I will be waiting with bated breath for the rest of them.

A worthy addition to Shelly Laurenston's series, Hot and Badgered is a terrific read. Fast, fun and furious. Three honey badger (kinda) sisters and their antics is highly entertaining. Highly recommended.

Let me introduce you to three half sisters, born of Freddy MacKilligan, a promiscuous criminal honey badger and three different women.

Charlie, the eldest, is half wolf-half honey badger. Her mother raised all three girls and Charlie has spent her entire life keeping her younger siblings out of trouble. Max, the second daughter is all honey badger and borderline psychotic. Stevie the youngest is half tiger-half honey badger, a musical and scientific genius she is also neurotic and likes nothing better than checking herself into very expensive mental hospitals and treating them like spas.

The book opens with Charlie getting a phone call early one morning telling her to get out of her Italian hotel room, before she knows it armed men are breaking into her room and her only escape (naked) is into the room of another hotel guest. Berg Dunn is a bear shifter, acting as security for Cooper Jean-Louis Parker, the jackal shifter and prodigal musician and bored out of his mind until a naked woman burst into their hotel suite, covered in blood from gunshot wounds, and followed by men in black military tactical wear. How great an opening is that?

Charlie knows that something like this can only mean one of two things - or both. Either her dead-beat Dad has done something monumentally stupid (again) or someone is after her genius sister (again). As it happens, it's both.

This has a slightly different feel to Shelly Laurenston's other books, and that's no bad thing. It's still funny, there are still tons of shifters, lots of my favourite characters from previous books make an appearance, there's brawling, there's baking, there's a BBQ, there's a wedding, there's rocket launchers and roller derby. Maybe the humour is gentler? Maybe the characters are gentler? Berg is just one giant softie (despite being part of a private security firm) and Shen? Cutie!

Anyway, what I think I am trying to say is that this is different to the Magnus Pack series, just as that is different to the Pride series, just as that is different to the Call of Crows series. Shelly Laurenston is exploring a different pack and I am dying to see what happens with Max and Stevie.

A great start to a new series.

Charlie just has no boundaries, "that was . . . until she suddenly turned her head into his body and began sniffing him. She felt Berg jerk under her nose. “Wha . . . what are you doing?” Charlie just gives her a man a complex and makes him self conscious, “he is not coming and stop making me feel bad about how much food I eat. I’m a bear! I have an appetite.” I liked this book, for me the beginning was a little slow and then it started to pick up.
