I was worried this book would not live up to the hype, but am am happy I was wrong. The Other Woman is a clever page-turner and the ending delivered a twist I did not see coming! I did have trouble understanding why Emily stayed with Adam in light of all the trouble the relationship was causing, her (not spoiler, don't worry!), but other than that, I really enjoyed this book. I won't go too much into the plot, because I really don't want to reveal anything that would spoil it, all I will say is that it held my rapt attention from start to finish. I am impressed it is the author's debut and look forward to her next one!

I can't believe this was a debut novel? Is it really? Thanks to Minotaur books for sending me a copy of The Other Woman by Sandie Jones. I could not put this one down. Although I did suspect that I knew what was going to happen, I kept second guessing myself to the end. This book was very fast-paced, with short chapters and kept me saying "one more chapter", until it was 1:00 am on a work day.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this is return for an honest review.

I received an ARC of the Other Woman and thought it was the typical book and that I had it all figured out. It was a quick read and very addictive. It begged for me to read one more page each time I tried to put the book down. The book has some very relatable characters and then some who you downright dislike and wonder if it could ever be possible to encounter. There is the crazy mother, the nice mother, the attractive boyfriend, successful girlfriend. I enjoyed how the characters developed and evolved throughout the book. Not everything is what it seems! A real page turner which I highly recommend!

Read this book straight through. Fast-paced thriller that kept me guessing until the end!
Emily and Adam met at a seminar "after" at the bar. They dated after that and after awhile, Adam brought Emily to meet his mother. Adam is fiercely loyal to his domineering and sometimes outright confrontational, mother, Pammie. She becomes confrontational and even demonstrates her love for Adam's ex-girlfriend, who is deceased. What will this do to a still new relationship between Emily and Adam? Within 2 months, Emily and Adam move in together. Yet, when Emily meets Adam's brother, James, there also is a spark that smolders.
At Adam's 30th birthday party, he proposes to Emily. Pammie immediately collapses (true to form) and ends up (over)staying at Emily and Adams place. Pammie continues her petty barbs towards Emily and Adam appears to side with mom. Wow, that really gets to Emily! However, Pammie catches Emily and Adam in the throes of passion, returns home, leaving Adam too upset to have sex with Emily. But James appears on the scene, again. As much as Emily desires his offer of comfort, she politely rejects James' overtures.
Adam begins to imbibe in drink more and becomes mentally abusive towards Emily.
However, at the rehearsal dinner for their wedding, Pammie announces that she has cancer. Adam insists that the wedding be postponed until his mother recovers. Emily thinks Pammie is pulling another stunt and starts checking out Pammie's "story". It appears to Emily that Pammie is hiding secrets. Soon after, Emily becomes pregnant. Not long after, James finds someone else, Kate, and marries her.
Emily and Adam's little girl, Poppy, is born soon after
The events that take place after Poppy's birth are brilliantly described and the tangle of deception begins to unwind. The downward spiral, if not startling, is not as anticipated! The ending is fast-moving towards an unexpected and surprise conclusion. This book is a must read! Thanks to NetGallery and Minotaur for the change to review this gem!

4.5 amazing stars (rounded up)!

When a friend suggested we buddy read The Other Woman together, I read the description and I was hesitant - it sounded so similar to breakout hit ‘The Girlfriend’ by Michelle Frances which I read earlier this year, but after reading other positive early reviews, I said “why not” and I’m so glad I did. A new relationship, a mysterious past, a meddling future mother-in-law, throw them together and you have quite the story here - but be careful, things aren’t always what they seem!

Thank you to Minotaur Books for an advance copy, all opinions are my own.

4.5 stars - buddy read with Holly B!

I would just like to state for the record that I officially read too many psychological thrillers and my inner detective will not go away - once again I had it figured out early on so I have to say, I can’t rate thrillers anymore based on the twist. I am unfortunately bound to figure it out😩 (someone please stump me!!). So based on this one, I have to say it was crazy well done (emphasis on the crazy!) in general.

I love love loved to hate these characters - they are nutty in the best way possible. They were truly driving Holly and myself bananas the whole read, and that is the best kind of character for me. If you can create a vivid response from me, whether positive or negative, then job well done!

This one had lightning speed pacing which was FANTASTIC and kept the pages turning. The problem when this happens is that you only scratch the surface with character development, but I didn’t even care and it worked really well here.

A super well done psychological thriller! Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This has a twisty plot and is an addictive page turner with a quirky cast of characters….

Enter Pammie - Controlling mother like no other! A bit of advice to Emily (her soon to be daughter in law), pack your bags and RUN.

Unfortunately, Emily is one of those friends who won’t listen to anyone because she knows best. She loves Adam with all her heart and won’t allow anyone to come between them (so she thinks anyway).

Can I just say…the war is on and Pammie doesn’t like to lose.

Very entertaining read!

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is a thriller about a relationship hindered by a mother-in-law. Emily meets Adam - smart, confident and funny. Their relationship progress nicely until Emily meets Pammie, Adam's mother. Pammie seems to be an angel in everyone's eyes, but to Emily, she is a manipulative and vindictive person. Emily tries to make Adam see his mother's true colors, but Adam does know see his mother as malicious. This takes a toll on Emily and Adam's relationship. Can their relationship overcome all, or will Pammie get her way and get rid of Emily once and for all?

I admit that I started this book expecting it to be a big cliche, like most books about a relationship and the guy's mother comes in between the couple. Boy, was I wrong! The plot twist hit me unexpectedly and I loved the book so much more for it. The author did a great job with an original idea. I did find some plot holes and was left with pending questions by the ending.

This is a must read!

Thank you to the NetGalley, the publisher, and author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a honest, unbiased review.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced reader copy of this book! Wow, is really all I can say about it. It was so good and has such an unexpected ending that you most definitely will not see coming. I totally loved this book. When the mother-in-law, Pammie made her appearance I felt pulled back in time remembering my own lovely ex-mother-in-law. Narcissistic Adam was the only other character in the book that was unlikeable. As it dredged up so many strong memories I thought I knew exactly where this story would go. I was wrong! This is a page turner that will keep you flipping pages when you should be sleeping! I am looking forward to more books from this author. #chapterchatterpub

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy.
3.5 stars - good domestic thriller, well-crafted. This book kept me guessing throughout and was well worth some of the annoyances for the characters along the way (you'll see). This was unlike any thriller I have read recently, which was refreshing. Well done.

Oh Sandy....thank you for this book! So I have to say, when I first began reading I did NOT expect the twists and turns that were to come. As Emily and Adam’s relationship progresses, things turn a little strange with his mom Pammie. Sabotage? Super protective? You just need to read because I could not put this down!

#sandiejones #theotherwoman #pammie i read this in two nights - quite a record for me these days as nothing seems to grab or hold my attention that quickly. the other woman in this scenario is pammie, the mother-in-law-to-be, and she's a doozy. sometimes i found main character and bride emily's thought processes to be annoying - and i wanted to scream "NO....walk away..." and i couldn't figure out why she continued to proclaim her love for adam, when he and his mother clearly exhibited all the hallmark traits of a raging narcissist. still, it all makes sense, sort of, by the denoument. whatever plot points that didn't quite fit - i was still compelled to read breathlessly to see how this tale unspun, and that, for me, definitely rates four stars+.

P.S. thanks to Netgalley for ARC.

This book had me hooked from the very start. A true page-turner that had me reading late into the night to find out what happens next. I loved reading about the different characters in the book and their relationships with one another.

It was interesting to read about Emily and Adam's relationship, and the dynamics of it. The ups and downs and the mind games, especially from the seemingly monster mother-in-law.

Very well written and loved this book. I highly recommend it! A must-read! Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

So this book was kind of silly and I didn’t love the style it was written in (kind of read like fan fiction to be honest) however it was fun, easy and I definitely didn’t see the end twist coming. Good soapy, summer reading.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

Well written! At times I wondered but something gripped me and kept me reading and I’m sure glad I did. This book is about loving someone, a mother in law who often appears crazy and so much more. Definately would recommend!!

This was a book I could not put down for anything but the fear of a headache from reading too much too fast. I found the protagonist difficult to believe and empathize with, if only because she seemed a glutton for punishment. Who would put up with the torture her future mother-in-law put her through? Her life seemed ruined to the point that she couldn't pull it back together... and she never left the man despite his mother. The twist at the end was not one I saw coming, and it definitely cleared up a lot of questions I had. A compelling read to the very last page.
