The Other Woman was a great, fun roller-coaster of a read. From the first page, I was hooked. Packed with relatable characters, you will find yourself alternately cheering and yelling. Don't start this one, unless you have uninterrupted time to read, because once you start reading, you will not be able to put it down!

I had this on my "To Read List" for a while, but unfortunately life got a bit busy and it took me longer than I had planned to get started.. But once I started this one - it was hard to put down!

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is the story of a young woman(Emily) who has fallen head over heels in love with a man (Adam) she met in a bar... the only problem is - his family! Despite her life being turned upside down and inside out by the mother in law from hell (Pammie - or Pamela as she is not so affectionately referred to), a hot brother in law with a crush, and an over protective/possessive boyfriend. following her journey of how she deals with this situation is both entertaining, and may also be a little too relatable to some of those unlucky brides out there!

There are many twists along the way in this enjoyable, easy to follow beach read, perfect for a winter holiday by the fire, or a sunny day by the sea.

This book was also the November pick for Reese's Hello Sunshine Book Club pick.

Thank you so much NetGalley for the opportunity to read such a wonderful book! I t is one of this reads that keep you guessing to the last page. The ending was very unexpected leave you thinking about the book for some time. I liked the main character Emily even I felt some frustration with some of her decisions. It made her more real to me.

Jones tells a compelling and suspenseful tale of a relationship that seems to be threatened by the mother-in-law, who is doing everything she can to split them up. But what we see is not really what is happening, and Jones does an excellent job planting the clues that lead to the clever ending.

Not many people can get a psychological thriller right, sometimes they mess up in the end and sometimes itshard to simply dive into it. But Cristina did a pretty good job at easing the reader into the story and slayeddd the ending! i would recommend it during a short trip or something

I thought I had this whole book figured out and then the last 10 pages happened!

5 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley, publisher and author for providing a free copy of this book.

This book had me pulled in from the very beginning BUT I thought I had the whole twist figured out. I DID NOT!! This book gave me all the feels. I was so emotionally distraught that Emily was letting Adam treat her that way. The ending is one I truly never saw coming!

This was mind-blowing. In an already crowded field of psychological suspense, this one held and caught my attention and I can hardily recommend it.

So happy to be given a whole budget to replenish our senior shelves in the school library. The books in there are far from appealing at the moment and I have been delighted to find books here that will intrigue, captivate and engross my senior students.

This is a fantastic read with characters they will be able to connect with, a pacy narrative and an ending that will provide plenty to talk about.

It's great to read a book that does not feel formulaic and gives some credit to their reader's intelligence too. Young people are very fussy about the books they choose to read and in this time-precious day and age it really has to be something above and beyond the ordinary to get them to put down their devices and get their noses stuck in a book.

I think this is one book that will capture their imagination and keep them turning the pages until the end. This is definitely going onto my 'must-buy' list and I really look forward to seeing what the young people themselves think of this twisty, clever and engaging novel.

It was such an addicting read! This book was so hard to put down and drew me in right from the beginning. While parts of it were predictable, Pammie was such a train wreck that you just couldn't look away! I thought Emily was crazy for staying with Adam! What was unpredictable was that ending--totally surprised me and and made this book a great one. This was an excellent debut novel from this author and I look forward to future books!

** spoiler alert ** I really should know better than to read these "psychological thrillers". I loved Gone Girl and Girl on the Train, but I feel like the other books in this genre are just depressing and somewhat predictable. I had this one figured out in the first quarter of the book. Plus, I kept telling myself, there is no way a woman would be this stupid. How can she claim that Adam is the love of her life when he treats her like crap and has an obvious temper and control issues. I also fault her friends for not seeing it too, as soon as they start getting pushed out of her life. I liked the idea of the mother pretending to be crazy to warn our heroine off...but it didn't ring true. Rather than save her, it just caused her additional trauma. Plus, seeing how stubborn and stupid this girl is, wouldn't it make more sense to just come out and say "My son is a pyscho". I was frustrated, but somehow got through the book. I'm just sad that she stuck around long enough to have a kid with the guy. Really disappointing book.

I received a copy of this title from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Emily has met the man of her dreams. Adam is everything that she has ever wanted in a man. He is perfect for her in so many ways. And then she meets his mother, Pammie. Pammie is overbearing and protective of her son. She is critical of everything Emily does, says, and wears. Of course, Adam doesn't see it, she is his mother, after all. Despite Pammie's best efforts, Adam and Emily's relationship is flourishing and Adam proposes on his birthday, but the night does not get a pass from Pammie's hysterics. Then the night before their wedding, Pammie declares that she has cancer, forcing Adam to postpone the wedding. Emily is devastated and not sure they can ever get past the disappointment, no matter how much Adam professes his love. Then Emily discovers she is pregnant. Will Emily and Adam get the "happy ever after" that they both claim to want?

I must say that I think that Emily is a freaking saint for putting up with everything she did from both Adam and his mother. Almost immediately flags were waving for me and they were bright red. It is hard for the reader to keep turning pages because you just want to shake Emily and tell her to run, but you also want to see what is going to happen. You cannot put the book down because you just have to see if Adam finally tells his mother off. Or if Emily will finally get fed up and walk away. The end was so shocking to me, it was the kind of twist that you just don't see coming. -CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS

Bottom Line -- I absolutely love the kind of thriller that can surprise me in the end. The Other Woman was one of the rare books that left me speechless. I can easily see why Reese Witherspoon chose it for her online book club.

I enjoyed the way this book was written, and did not anticipate the ending. I read a lot of thrillers and suspense and am usually able to guess what is going to happen, but this was a nice surprise.

WHOA! I did not see that coming. I assume I am like every other reader out there who really had no clue that was going to happen. Crazy families! This was definitely a 4 & 1/2 star read for me, but I did round down. I had issues with how mad I got at Emily. I guess the true mark of a good book is to get you feeling emotions, even if they are anger. She just made me mad with her woe is me, hand wringing attitude. I just wanted to shake her and say, come on girl, get it together. If he is being that awful, walk away girl, don't go chasing that crazy man and his family. So that is my only complaint. Heroines like her really make me feel angry.

Great twist and a real enjoy to read. I devoured this book in a couple hours. I could not put it down. I had to know. Please if you are reading this, do not go searching for the spoilers. The spoilers for this one will ruin the story.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the chance to read and review.

I liked this book because it was a crazy, soapy ride! I just could not figure out why Emily stayed with Adam--after Christmas and all of the "misunderstandings" and Adam standing up for his mother despite her actions being nutso--why did she stay? I guess I didn't feel invested in their relationship enough to find it believable that she'd stay despite red flags everywhere.
That said, it's a fast read, lots of eye rolling but a fun ride nevertheless. Just suspend your disbelief and you'll enjoy it for what it is.

If I'm going to be completely honest, this is a book that I picked up and started a couple of times before I picked it up this time and finished. The pluses: it reads quickly. I probably could have finished this book in one sitting if I'd really been concentrating. And, it reads quickly. (Yes, I know that I wrote that twice.)
The minuses: Some of the details are kind of muddled, particularly at the beginning, which I will attribute to the fact that I put this book down no fewer than three times since receiving it on Netgalley. It was honestly such a mess at the beginning that if Reese Witherspoon's book club hadn't picked it, I probably wouldn't have come back to it. The characters are just stupid. If the boyfriend/fiance/whatever had treated me that way I would have been done with him.

All in all, it was fun.. ish. However, I'd probably not recommend it to anyone.

Had a difficult time getting into this one. The characters were bland for me and it just wasn't what I wanted in a thriller

All I can say is...wow! I really liked this book. I definitely got hooked pretty quickly and stayed up late reading some nights because I couldn’t put it down. The only thing that bothered me was that a lot of time would seem to pass between the end of some chapters and beginning of the next one and a lot of things didn’t get resolved, but I still felt that most of the stories and characters were developed really well. I found myself hating most of the characters (some more than others), so I like how invested I was in it. I definitely did not see the twist at the end coming! Overall, a very good suspenseful, read!

Domestic suspense? I think nah.

I am so irritated. I feel so let down by this book!

The Other Woman has been definitely hyped in my opinion, and I feel like it shouldn't have been. Y'all know me. I go into thrillers/domestic suspense novels without knowing a thing about it. I like to keep it that way, no spoilers, no clues, nothing. It didn't even take me 10% of the book to know the 'other' woman was his mother. I know it says it in the synopsis, but oh boy. I was so let down! I was wanting 'The Wife Between Us' vibes. Like a battle for the man kind of thing. Was I wrong or what?!

So after that, I started to wonder where this was all going. It was so slowly paced, no suspense, no thrills, absolutely nothing to indicate this was a domestic suspense novel. I was so bored throughout the pages! With each page I read, I can't even tell you how many times I questioned what Emily was doing or why she was staying with Adam. I'm not gonna lie, I've had a MIL just like Adam's mom. Maybe that made it all the more frustrating?

But still. The point remains: Emily made poor decisions and came off as weak and whiny at every turn, Adam never listened or even tried to listen and was a complete asshole just because. The whole thing just made me feel icky and blah. There was nothing captivating me, nothing to keep me turning the pages. Alas, I did, just hoping it would get better. It didn't. None of the other characters made the book worth reading, and oh my god. It just dragged on and on, with no point or end in sight to this ridiculous plot.

Unfortunately, this one was just not for me.

Emily and Adam begin dating and fall in love fast. Their relationship is so serious that Emily gets to meet Adam’s mother, Pammie. Pammie is determined to break them up from the beginning. Adam does not see the schemes that his mother is creating.

This book is definitely a page-turner! You will think you have it figured out but get ready for a twisty ending! You will not be disappointed in reading this book! I would highly recommend it to all!
