I enjoyed reading the stories about what the flag means to the people portrayed in this book. Accompanying the text are wonderful photographs. The stories are short which make this a wonderful book to read again and again. This book will make a wonderful gift. Enjoy

Thank you to Dale Baskin, Karen S. Robbins, Schiffer Publishing Ltd., and NetGalley for this advanced copy of “Flags Across America” for an honest review.

I was a little leery when advised to pick this one, especially in our present day hyper-political issues with the flag and the anthem, but I turned out to be very, very glad I did. I was amazed at the many ways our flag was been used and photographed.

I think this will make a lovely table book in the American household (though I don’t feel it would translate worldwide at all). There were so many things I did not expect to see the flag on that I found myself wide-eyed reading all the background on (especially the hot air balloon and the whiskey barrel flags). I think everyone should give this American history a whirl!

As a frequent visitor to America I have often been bemused about the American obsession with the flag. The Independence referendum in Scotland in recent years and the continued discussions around Scottish Independence has led to a more prominent and welcome display of the Scottish flag. As I type this I look out of my window and I see the Scottish flag flying on a church spire nearby and it does make me feel proud to be Scottish. Recent events in my country and the contents of this beautifully illustrated book makes me fully realise the American peoples feelings for their flag. This book is not only beautiful to look at, but the testimonies from people from all walks of life also helps to convey the passion for the Stars and Stripes. This is a book everyone should read before going to America as it reveals a little bit of insight into the hearts and souls of the American people.

Flags Across America is a must-have for all Americans!!

I LOVE this book!! I love everything about this book! It features a wide variety of photographs from historical days to now each containing the American flag. It tells the stories behind the photographs, and represents our nation and its people from rural country side, to small towns, to big cities. It shows people young and old, honoring our flag, united in their patriotism and love of country.

This book humbles me, makes me proud, gives me hope for the future. Well done, Karen Robbins, well done!!!

Many, many, many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Schiffer Publishing for sharing this book with me in exchange for an unbiased opinion.

There were some amazing pictures in this book. I especially enjoyed the images of quilts, wooden flags, and mixed media flags. I wasn’t expecting to see them in this book, and they were a nice surprise.

My husband was in the Army, so our house is pretty Patriotic. Yes we fly the flag proudly, actually we have a few flying. When I saw this book on Netgalley I requested it. My husband and I set here and looked through the book. Both of us were very proud the way the Author has put this book together. There are so many photos in this book I cannot just name one that I liked the most. But there is one photo of an eagle setting on a post with a flag across from it. The eagles seems to be staring at the flag. The photos in the book cover the history of the flag as well as how people and towns still to this day celebrate with the flag and just fly it in general. Lots of pictures from the original living flag in 1953 to bicycles made for 2 decorated with flags. There are some short interviews with people who donated photos to the book also. This really is a great book. And it brings a feeling of pride for Old Glory to your soul.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.
