This book was simply not for me. There characters are found unlikable maybe with the exception of Melia who did her best to care for her patients. I didn't find it humorous, nor tongue in cheek as some reviewers are calling it.
The book didn't flow. I could throw in here that honestly I was waiting for the banjos to start playing somewhere in the background. I will stand down on posting a review. I'm a Floridian, I grew up in south florida, I have worked in many an impoverished area around the state, most of those being in northern florida which still doesn't come close to the inferences made in this book.
That's all I'm going to say.

This story is a let down from the beginning to the end. The first book in the Dark Justice Series had moments that readers were able to understand why the characters did what they did. While this a stand alone novel it is a big let down from the first in the series. I would just skip this one since it doesn't have anything to do with the first in the series.

The characters are flat, they are boring. They bring nothing to the series and leave readers bored and wondering why they read this book to begin with. There is parts of the story I felt lost and confused trying to figure out who was working with whom and why?

The story is writing like a tongue and cheek story but it falls flat and the jokes are anything but funny.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

This is book 2 in the Dark Justice book series. It can absolutely be read as a standalone but I would read the first one just so you know who one of the bigger antagonists is! This one is about Johnny Hunt and Melia Rose. Johnny and Melia were married until something happened to end it all. Something that makes Melia hate herself and not be able to move on with her life. She has moved again, this time to a small town and is trying to make friends and just live her life day by day. Until her ex drops in and throws a bomb shell at her that she truly wasn't expecting. And throws her life into a spin all over again. Whereas Johnny just wants to keep on protecting the woman he loves, even if that means sharing secrets he never thought he would share. Or trying to get a second chance and make things right with her.

I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked from the start and definitely didn't expect the truth of what happened the night their marriage ended! This book had twists and turns, funny moments (love her housekeeper!!), and action to keep you interested and absorbed. And then you throw in the love and chemistry between them? Made for a engrossing read! Plus the bigger story ARC with McCabe has been pushed along and I can't wait to see where that takes us!

**I received a copy of Dark Justice: Hunt from Net Galley in exchange for an honest and voluntary review**

Dark Justice: Hunt by Jenna Ryan is the second book of a series. I haven't read the first book but I was able to read it as a standalone with no problems. However the two main characters just didn't have the zing that you would expect from a romance suspense story. Plus there just wasn't enough back ground to give the reader why Mockerie was working with Satyr because it was rather confusing and throw in Johnny and I just drew a few question marks.

McCabe and Melia were once married but in order to save her from Satyr McCabe drugged her and let her think for 3 years that she had an affair see where it gets a bit confusing? Then you have the feud between McCabe, Satyr and Mockerie which has something to do with being a POW in the sand box. But it's gets more interesting when Melia starts being stalked by Satyr's men while she is tending to the citizens of the Florida Everglades. The various patients she had were very entertaining except for the Sheriff's son Cas who was very trigger happy.

I finished the book but I really can't say I enjoyed the story as much as I usually do.

I don't know why there have been negative reviews for this book, I loved it.

it was very tongue in cheek which I loved, it didn't pretend to be a great tome of literature. It was switch your brain to adventure mode and go along for the ride.

Melia Rose has been bopping from town to town for the last 3 years. She can't forgive herself over the break-up of her marriage and the guilt that she carries with her. She has settled back in her home town and taken over as the local GP. She has surrounded herself with family and cooky neighbours and helpers. But when an associate of her ex turns up and tells her that her perceived indiscretion was actually engineered by her husband to keep her safe, well she is understandably peeved! Johnny hated putting Melia through hell but when Styr vows to kill everyone close to Johnny he felt he had no choice.

But Satyr has realised that Melia is still Johnny's love and he is back on her scent, tracking her down to make Johnny suffer. Along with a cast of misfit secondary characters including a housekeeper channelling Bette Davis, a love-struck sheriff and an Autistic teenager with a gun fetish.

Did Melia forgive Johnny too fast? Probably but she can see why he did it and that he did it out of love for her, to protect her. Johnny takes secretive to a whole new level. I really enjoyed this story and the previous book also. Fab!

I like Hunt, the story was enjoyable, and the characters were likable, I wasn’t convinced of the connection but that’s just me. I look forward to reading more but do hope get more of a flow of the characters through the stories

I received an arc from Netgalley. This book was intense and had an edge to it. Once Melia realizes how Johnny has lied to her she is devastated but there is no time to deal with that when you have someone trying to kill you.

Johnny and Melia don’t realize there are multiple threats on the horizon but working together and growing closer leads them through disaster and on to new beginnings. Great read. 4 stars for me.

This is book 2 in the Dark Justice Series. I have not read book 1 but had no trouble following this one. It follows a different couple, Johnny and Melia. I enjoyed it.

I was kind of let down, I expected to pick up from last book to know what happened next with that group of characters, we didn't get. This was a new couple and I just didn't connect with them like that last ones. The only ones who we still dealt with was McCabe and the bad guy Mockerie since they have a history. I think I am getting off of this train, I just wanted to know about Gage and Alexa...but oh well it is what it is
