I love Haven Point. The quaint town, the wonderful neighbors, and the beautiful setting. Yet, the neighbors have secrets. They have secret loves, hates, and just plain old secrets. This is the story of Megan and Elliot. Megan has secretly always felt a pull towards Elliot even when she was dating his brother and when he was investigating her brother for murder. Elliot had purposely stayed away from Megan because he couldn’t trust his feelings. Now they are both in Haven Point, actually, they are truly neighbors and the pull between them is stronger than ever.

While the romance is a focus of the story, the investigation into Megan’s brother’s wife disappearance is just as entertaining. I did read some of the other books in the series so I had a good understanding of what was happening and who was being accused of what but it was fun to catch up on what was going on and see Elliot work to find out the entire truth. I am hoping that this storyline will continue in future books and the reader will find out more about the truth.

The Cottages on Silver Beach is a part of a series. The characters continue throughout the series, some of the storylines are mentioned but each is a stand-alone story. They can be read in any order without losing any of the charm of Haven Point.

This was a great book. I have read other books by this author and truly enjoy her writing. I sometimes wish I had this ability to create stories that warm the heart. I dont want to write too much since I dont want to sound like a book report.

Megan and Elliot get there happily ever after. They may have to go thru some trials together.

I was provided this book for an open and honest read. Sorry it is now May and you are getting it but College class work was a priority.

I really liked this book. This was the first Haven Point novel I read, but I did not feel like I was missing anything. I like it when an author can do that and write series books that standalone. It wasn't bland, like the other RayAnne Thayne book I've read. This was one of those books that I could not wait to get back to, and could not quit thinking about it when I wasn't reading it. There's some mystery as well as romance, and I liked that about it. It was clean and steam-free, which I really appreciated.

Thayne is quickly becoming high on my must-read authors. Her writings are easy to read and enjoyable. The romance is sweet and a perfect second chance at love story.

Elliot has seemed to always love Megan but it was never the right time. Well now they are grown and he gets a second chance to winning Megan over.

This is the 8th in the series and you don’t need to have read any of the others to read this one but once you do you will want to back track into reading the entire series.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the eighth book in the Haven Point series, which is a spinoff of the Hope’s Crossing series. You don’t need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one but the characters will be remembered fondly as they reappear. I have enjoyed all of the previous books and this one did not disappoint. It is like checking in with old friends and catching up on their lives. Megan and Elliot have known each other for years. Megan was friends with Elliot’s sisters and then dated his brother, he pretty much ignored her and she really wasn’t sure why. He has returned home for his sister, Kat’s , wedding reception . He didn’t think he would be able to attend due to work obligations with the FBI. He was injured in an operation that went bad and decided that his hometown would be a perfect place to recuperate, finish writing his latest true-crime novel as well as attend the reception. He chose to stay in a cottage on the grounds of a B&B owned by Megan. He thought he would be able to write and heal in peace ( he has some very interfering sisters and mother), and think about what his future might hold. Megan cannot believe that he has shown up for three weeks and will be living in the cabin right next to hers. There are numerous conflicts between them. One of which is the fact that Elliot is investigating the disappearance of Megan’s sister-in-law. Elizabeth disappeared seven years prior and many believed Megan’s brother was responsible for her disappearance. I will be keeping this book to reread and look forward to Luke and Elizabeth’s story yet to come.

The way that Ms. Thayne writes characters is so captivating! When I get to the end of a book, my first reaction is, "Nooooooo, that can't be the end!" That was definitely the reaction I had with this book. Megan and Elliot are star-crossed lovers from the get-go. I wont write any spoilers as to the history they had in the past but as the book begins, they are once again, put in close proximity and must deal with it. They are older and wiser and although they've never been a couple, they've definitely had feelings for each other but this time, their worlds are very messy and they can't get involved...yeah, right! Elliot is healing from an injury he sustained in the FBI but he's also a true crime writer so he's going to focus on that while he recuperates. Megan's family is still dealing with her brother's wife who has been missing for 7 years and that has effected all of them for that long, plus Megan and her brother have a painful past to deal with on top of it!
I really liked the development of the characters, the emotional investment I had in them as they went through their ups and downs in the story. I felt like I was right there with them through the whole book. RaeAnne is a master at this - character development, emotions, using past characters to enhance the stories....it adds up to a fantastic book that leaves you wanting more and more about the lives of these characters! I highly recommend this book!

The Cottages on Silver Beach is the eighth novel in the Haven Point series, and this is the fourth novel in this series that I've read, and I'm sorry to say that although it's my least favorite of the novels I've read by RaeAnne Thayne so far, it was still quite an enjoyable read, and I give it 3.5 stars.

This novel features Megan, who owns and operates the Inn at Haven Point and the cottages in the title. She's far more interested in pursuing her art photography dream career, but when her grandmother left her the inn when she died, and it subsequently burned down, since it has been in the family for 5 generations, Megan rebuilt and restored it and took great pride in doing so. Pleased be advised that all of this information appeared in previous novels, as did the fact that her half-brother, Luke, has been the primary suspect in the disappearance of this wife, Elizabeth, for the past 7 years. Many in Haven Point have already tried and convicted him although no charges were ever filed against him, and Luke and his two children have had to endure the bullying and outright nastiness of neighbors and classmates since then. Megan has been his primary supporter and has helped him raise the children his missing wife left behind when she disappeared. One additional point to know is that years ago, Megan was once in love with Wyatt Bailey and loved his entire family, except for his older and standoffish brother, Elliott, but Wyatt was killed in an auto accident years ago, and Megan hasn't had been in a relationship since then.

As the novel opens, Megan isn't happy with the guest in the rental cabin next to the the one she occupies--it's Elliott Bailey, FBI agent, and bestselling true crime writer, and Wyatt's brother. Rather than calling to make his 3-week reservation, Elliott booked on line, before Megan could refuse him. As he's unloading his car, and trying to unlock his cabin, Megan notices that his arm is in a sling, knows that the lock is sticky, and as his hostess, she offers to help him. Of course, she's seen him at family gatherings and special events in town over the years, but considering that Megan used to tease him by calling him Mr. Roboto, she can't understand why he isn't staying with someone in his large family. He's there to attend a family wedding, to recuperate, and to finish writing his latest book, and he's certainly not forthcoming when asked about the cause of his injury.

One of the things Megan has so disliked about Elliott is his conviction that Luke murdered his wife and hid her dead body so well that's it's never been found. Megan is and has been Luke's champion, and bristles at the very idea that her brother is still a suspect, and she's furious when, while doing some housekeeping in Elliott's unit, she notices a stack of police files on Elizabeth's disappearance in Elliott's cabin. Elliott's late father was Police Chief in Haven Point for decades, and he's hoping to solve the now cold case. Megan fears that Elliott is also writing his next book about the case, which he adamantly denies, and which she believes will stir up more suspicion and torment for her brother and his children.

When Elliott finds a small, overlooked note in the police files, one that was never investigated, he wants to interview this witness, and the trip to the town of Hope's Crossing ties in with Megan's first gallery showing of her photographs in the same town. So Megan and Elliott, and Megan's adorable pug, Cyrus (perhaps my favorite character in this novel), set off, and as romance readers we know that proximity doesn't always breed contempt, don't we? So, in addition to the warming/chilling of the relationship between Megan and Elliott, it changes by the day, and sometimes by the hour, there's a mystery to solve.

My only truly negative feelings about this novel are due to the apparent lack of maturity of the lead characters. Megan is nervous about her first gallery show because when she inherited the inn, the timing couldn't have been worse. She'd been offered at job as assistant to a National Geographic photographer, but aside from that, it was also around the time Luke's wife disappeared, leaving him and her two small children behind, and Luke needed Megan's help to raise them. As for Elliott, he's beyond cold, secretive and stoic, yet we learn he's loved Megan in secret for years, and that he was jealous of his late brothers relationship with her. He's in his mid-thirties, and his brother died years ago, so why not at least attempt to to pursue a relationship with Megan during all that time? Megan is shocked to learn that he's even interested in her, but she's already ruled out the possibility of any committed relationship because she wants to travel and pursue her photography career, but when she gets a surprise offer to sell the inn, the waffling begins. Selling the inn would free her to pursue her love of photography, provide her and her brother with more than enough money to live their lives more than comfortably, but she can't decide what she wants to do, and so, in the space of less than a week, she's got a major life decision to make, a mystery that needs to be solved, and she panics at the thought of her first exhibition. Then, she suddenly realizes that she's in love with Elliott? Sorry, but I'm not a fan of insta-love and I just wasn't buying it.

What I did like about this novel is how well it was written, as are all of Ms. Thayne's novels. Except for the aforementioned insta-love, I liked the pacing, I loved the setting, and I enjoyed the mystery element and investigation of what really happened when Elizabeth disappeared. The only other negative for this reader was the overabundance of characters who appeared in previous novels and even in a previous series, and whose names are tossed about like confetti throughout this novel, which can be read as a standalone, but I have to suggest that reading this series from the beginning is a good idea. As a recent fan of Ms. Thayne's work, I know she's more than capable of writing a better and more believable novel than this one.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

This is the newest book in the Haven Point Series. Unfortunately the characters really fell flat and didn't have much dimension to them. I couldn't really feel their chemistry or attraction. I may try again later.

THE COTTAGES ON SILVER BEACH by RaeAnne Thayne is the eighth book in the Haven Point series. It works well as a standalone novel if you haven’t read the others in the series. I guarantee, however, that after reading this book, you will want to go back to read the others.
Elliot Bailey is an FBI agent who moonlights as a writer. After an injury has him sidelined with the FBI, he returns to his hometown to recover. This is also his chance to do some research for his latest book about a mystery that has haunted the town for years. He rents a cottage from Megan Hamilton, one of the key players in the mystery and his brother’s girlfriend at the time.
Megan, a fledgling photographer, lives in the cottage next door to the one she rented to Elliot. She is not happy to see him return because she feels that he betrayed her and her family. Elliot is hoping that what he finds out for his book will clear up everything and possibly pave the way for a relationship with Megan.
Elliot and Megan are well-written characters. The witty dialogs between them were especially enjoyable. The secondary characters add warmth and depth to the story, especially Megan’s little Pug, Curly!
The storyline is realistic and believable. The pacing of the story is even and appropriate, although some may feel that the relationship between Megan and Elliot moved too slowly. I thought it worked well and seemed right given their past situation.
I have now read several books by RaeAnne Thayne and she has earned a permanent spot on my list of favorite authors. She carefully crafts her storylines and her characters, and the books are extremely well-written. She is an intelligent author writing for intelligent readers. She is also proof that you can write a compelling romance without explicit sex scenes. This is a novel that everyone will feel comfortable reading.
Congratulations RaeAnne Thayne for another 5-star best-seller.
I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

3.5 Stars

Elliot Bailey is back home in Haven Point after a case left him injured and in hot water with the higher ups at FBI. He chooses to rent a lakeside cottage on Silver Beach instead of staying with his family, so he might have peace and rest, and finish his latest crime novel. Elliot blanks out on the fact that Megan Hamilton might be close since she owns the inn until he figures out she’s in the cottage right next door. He’s always found Megan attractive and unsettling which makes things a bit awkward, especially since she used to date his younger brother.

Also, there’s the fact that Megan’s sister-in-law disappeared eight years ago without a trace. Suspicions and talk have followed Megan’s brother, Luke, in the years that have followed, and Elliot thinks Luke had a hand in her disappearance.

You’d think this combination would mean a lot of conflict between Elliot and Megan, but somehow there wasn’t much. The two end up spending quite a bit of time together living next door, where their mutual attraction grows and burns. I enjoyed the close quarters of a road trip and how Elliot helped settle Megan’s nerves and insecurities with her gallery showing. Their romance sparked and simmered throughout, even while trying to uncover what really happened to Luke’s long-gone wife.

RaeAnne Thayne writes quaint romances with heart, with big loving families, close-knit friends, set in the picturesque town of Haven Point. I enjoyed Elliot and Megan’s romance and hope to see more of them in future books.

This series has such a charming setting and an equally charming set of characters. The Bailey family takes center stage again, as Elliot returns home for his sister's wedding reception. Megan Hamilton's sister in law disappeared almost 7 years ago, but many in town still blame her brother Luke for her absence. The story pieces together some new possible clues in Elizabeth's case, which helps bridge the gap between Elliot and his old friends. I like this series quite a bit, they are an easy, enjoyable read any time of year.

Megan Hamilton owns an inn in Silver Beach, as well as several cottages on the grounds. She is disturbed to discover that Elliot Bailey has rented one online -- he's an FBI agent and crime novelist who, although the Hamilton and Bailey families are close friends -- didn't help the family when Megan's sister-in-law went missing seven years earlier, didn't help clear her brother Lucas' name, didn't do anything. Now he's back in town, staying at the inn instead of with his large family, finishing up a novel and also asking questions about the case. He's always had a crush on Megan but she'd been dating his now-deceased younger brother, so never acted on it --and never realized that the feeling was mutual.

Not much has been said in the rest of the series about Elliott, and even Megan, other than that he was part of a larger family and that she now owns and run the inn, while continuing with her photography, something she'd hoped would be her career. The relationship takes a while to grow from 'just friends' to more. But the wait is worth it.

A beautifully written novel full of family, love, and finding you way home.

RaeAnne Thayne has written another enjoyable novel in her Haven Poukt series with many well written characters and a storyline that is befitting this series.

I've really enjoyed the Haven Point series up to this point, but this one was a struggle to finish. I didn't like it at all, and I'm bummed that was the case. The dialogue felt very cheesy to me, and the romance just limped along. And I know it's because I wasn't invested in the couple! They were so one-dimensional, boring, and kept pushing each other away for no reason. The formulaic nature of the series was way more apparent in this one. And honestly, I was more interested in the missing sister-in-law than anything else and that wasn't even resolved by the end. As you can probably guess, I was So Over It.

RaeAnne Thayne returns to Haven Point and the Bailey family with the story of eldest son Elliot Bailey and Megan Hamilton, the owner of the town’s inn and the former girlfriend of Elliot’s deceased brother Wyatt. As youngsters, Elliot was also good friends with Megan’s older stepbrother, Luke… which didn’t keep FBI agent Elliot and the other Baileys in law enforcement, including Elliot’s father, from suspecting Luke of murder when his wife disappeared.

Seven years later, Eliott is back in town, on leave with a shoulder injury. And Megan is both attracted to him and angry that he didn’t stand up for Luke years ago… and, like many of the town’s residents, seems to still suspect Luke.

As always, Thayne does a good job with the relationship between Megan and Elliot, creating a realistic and appealing portrayal of their attraction as well as their internal and interpersonal conflicts. Elliot is a bit too reserved for his own good, something that causes others to think of him as a robot, but it’s not that he doesn’t have feelings, only that he keeps them inside. Megan, on the other hand, wears her heart on her sleeve but tries to hide deep insecurities, something I found very relatable.

Thayne touches lightly on the unintended consequences of parental expectations, and a little more on the results of childhood emotional and sometimes physical abuse. Where she falters a little is in Megan’s belief in Luke’s innocence; Megan’s trust is steadfast and understandable, but her stated reason conflicts with strong statistical evidence to the contrary, which bothered me a little. (I’m stepping around this, trying to avoid spoilers; that’s the best I can do.)

One thing I love about series like this—besides the small-town setting—is the recurring characters. Many make appearances or are at least mentioned, from the rest of the Baileys and their spouses and various children to a few characters from the related Hope Springs series, though of course we don’t see any of them in depth. The focus stays firmly on Megan and Elliot, and secondarily on the question of what really happened to Luke’s wife all those years ago. But be forewarned: for the full answer to that question, we’ll have to wait for another book… and it’s not the next one, darn it! I’ll just have to console myself with the annual holiday Haven Point romance, coming in late September.

Elliot Bailey has always had some sort of feelings for Megan Hamilton, but wasn’t unable to do anything about it due to the fact that he came home one day to her dating her brother. Now, Megan Hamilton is not his biggest fan when Elliot turned his back on her family when her brother’s wife went missing because Elliot thought he was responsible for the disappearance. Now, year’s later, Megan’s brother is still living with the stigma as a walking criminal and Elliot Bailey is back in town, working on a new book, digging up old dirt, and causing all kinds of mixed feelings.
This was a cute read, I enjoyed Thayne’s easy writing a lot. She has a way that really makes me feel invested in the story and all the characters. A lot of the characters from the previous books make an appearance here because it’s just part of one big happy family.
The characters were easy to like and the romance was sweet. The story engaging and it really makes me want to know what is going to happen in the next book after the secret’s that Elliot has uncovered and how they will effect Megan’s brother.

Mysteriously intriguing! I'm used to a heartwarming love story enriched by close knit families and community when I pick up one of RaeAnne Thayne's delightful Haven Point novels, and I received that once again with this latest book ... but I also received a mystery! Much-loved by the town Megan finds herself drawn to returning Elliot, but his insistence to stir up something that has been painful to her family for many years just might stop her attraction cold! Great characters, a town we already love and this added mystery to the plot gave it a real pull. SO looking forward to Luke's story!!

Inn owner Megan Hamilton has a personality that makes her a favorite of just about anyone she meets, but for some reason she's always felt like Elliot didn't care for her. When they've been around her in the past, he's always come off as stand-offish. He once was in a position to help a her family with a crucial matter, but instead turned his back and believed speculation over them. She's not overly happy to see him pop up at her inn looking for a place to stay while he's in town for a few weeks.

FBI agent and bestselling author Elliot Bailey plays his cards close to his vest, and the reason he keeps Megan at a distance is because he's secretly been crushing on her for years. This opportunity of being close by for a few weeks just might be his chance to see if she returns his interest at all, but when he starts looking into a matter that she wishes would stay buried, it could stir up more trouble than he's looking for!

I really enjoyed this story. Author RaeAnne Thayne definitely has a way with words. Her characters are fleshed out and so real. Her locations (Idaho and Denver) are described so well that you feel like you’re there. The story was interesting and kept me turning the pages. And there’s a bit of a mystery, but is it a missing person or a murder? Photos, lots of family, and a pug named Cyrus are the icing on the cake. Get this one and you know you’re in for a sweet treat!
