This new addition to the Haven Point, Idaho series, a romance with a mystery that interferes with Megan Hamilton and Elliot Bailey getting involved as a couple, was a great story. Thoughtfully written, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Megan, as well as her brother, Luke, and his two young children, are struggling to move on after Luke’s wife, Elizabeth, went missing. Megan, whose heart is in her talent as a photographer, owns and runs the Inn and cottages at Haven Point. Elliot Bailey, has temporarily left the FBI and has returned home to family and Haven Point with a shoulder injury. As he is also a true-crime writer, he hopes to finish his latest while recuperating. He stays in Cedarwood Cottage, which happens to be the one next to Megan’s cottage. He has always been in love with Megan, but with his relationship with Luke having previously turned bad, and as close as Megan is with her brother, his chances with her are slim. I am always delighted to be able to read one of RayAnne Thayne’s books, and know that it is guaranteed to be wonderful. Both the Haven Point Series and the Hope’s Crossing series are favorites of mine. I thoroughly enjoyed this new addition to the series, and even though it is a stand alone, and the characters are well explained to any reader that has not read any other book in this series as well as in the Hope’s Crossing series, the other books would be a great addition for anyone who likes a good romance.

True to RaeAnne Thayne's style, this story includes elements of small town closeness, family love and two people who were destined to be together. Elliot returned to his hometown--but not his home--to recover from an on-the-job injury sustained as and FBI agent. While he is there, he works his side-gig, as a famous author.

Sparks have always flown between Elliot and Megan but there has always been some reason things never got off the ground. Yes, this is the time that changes, but as in Thayne's other stories, we don't get in on an bedroom action.

The book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger; Elliot solved a mystery but it's one of those answers that just brings forth more questions, and more book set in this charming town.

I'd like to thank the publisher for making a review copy available via NetGalley. It was a quick, enjoyable heartwarming read, as most of Thayne's books are. Grade: B.

Megan Hamilton is a talented photographer who also owns and runs cottages on Lake Have. Unfortunately, Elliot Bailey, FBI agent on leave and successful true crime author, moves into the cottage next to hers. He made his reservation online and it’s too late now, she’s stuck with him.

Megan and Elliot have an undeniable chemistry but they also have a past that comes between them. This is part of a series but I feel like it could be read as a stand alone. I loved watching the relationship between Megan and Elliot, the back and forth as they tried to fight their feelings for each other. There is a mystery in the book too. Megan’s brother Luke has been under a cloud of suspicion since his wife disappeared 7 years ago. Elliot wants to look into the case but Megan has mixed emotions. She knows her brother is innocent but isn’t sure Elliot will have an open mind. This was a great read, even with the mystery it left me feeling good at the end. I would give this book 4 1/2 stars. My only gripe was when I got to the end I was upset I would have to wait for the next book. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I am such a huge fan of the Hope's Crossing and Haven Point books. The characters are delightful, the setting is fresh and comforting, and it feels like a real locale, with an ongoing saga of the town's families in each book. In this novel, we revisit Megan Hamilton, owner of the Inn that burned down several books ago. The inn is back up and running along with some cabins by the lake, the latter which is rented out to Elliott Bailey, back in town after being suspended from his job as a federal agent. The two have an interesting history - they've known each other since they were kids; Megan having dated Elliott's now deceased younger brother and Elliott having held a torch for Megan for years. Unfortunately she wants nothing to do with him, because he believes her brother, Luke, is responsible for the disappearance of Luke's wife Elizabeth seven years before. Despite this cloud hanging over their heads, the two are still drawn to each other. Elliott and Megan's story is one of the sweetest I've read from this series. Their growing relationship was interwoven very well with Elliott's investigation into Elizabeth's disappearance and their arguments and feelings felt realistic under the circumstances. You could not help but cheer for them in the end, all the while holding your breath wondering what Elliott would discover about Luke and whether it would shatter their growing relationship. This was a fantastic book with just the right amount of steam. 5 stars.

I know when I pick up a RaeAnne Thayne book that I am going to love the story. The Cottages on Silver Beach does it (again) for me! My take on the background of the story (and I have read all the Haven Point books but this is from a standalone point of view) is that Elliot Bailey is severely misunderstood – by his family, by his friends, and by just about everyone who has known or currently knows him. He “goes back home” to Haven Point, and shows up at Megan Hamilton’s inn, for an extended stay. Megan wonders why her inn, of all places, but it seems Elliot has some secrets.

There are bad feelings and history between Elliot and Megan’s brother and I think that the real story behind them are a part of what makes Elliot…hurt, for lack of a better word. Add in his buried feelings for Megan – you’ll have to read about how and when they came about! – and you get a terrific, loving story. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of deep hurts and feelings to be dealt with. It seems most of the characters have a wound that needs the Band-Aid ripped off, imho. As always, Ms. Thayne deals with the intricate and delicate feelings of the characters in such a way as to deliver another wonderful story.

I always want to smile and sigh when I finish. Smile because I loved the book and sigh because it is over. I recommend. I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

When I first started reading THE COTTAGES ON SILVER BEACH, I didn't realize that this was Book #8 in the Haven Point series. I had only read two other books in this series (Serenity Harbor and Sugar Pine Trail) and although I was able to follow along with this particular story, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more had I been familiar with some of the other characters. I must say, however, that I loved the characters Megan and Elliot. Their history kept them at arms length, although they each harbored feelings that eventually needed to come out. This was a romance with a touch of mystery.

Megan, a talented photographer, owns and runs an Inn that consists of several cottages along Silver Beach, which she inherited from her grandmother. When Elliot Bailey, an FBI agent and the brother of Megan's deceased fiance, rents one of Megan's cabins, past memories cause tension between the two of them and with Luke, Megan's brother, who had been suspected of foul play when his wife went missing several years earlier. Megan is determined to prove her brother's innocence and embarks on a road trip with Elliot to piece together some clues that had not been followed up on.

I love the writing style of RaeAnne Thayne and this series is quite heartwarming with characters that come alive in your mind as you read. I hovered between four and five wine stars on this one, but settled on four. You can call it four and a half.

This is a great addition to the Haven Point series. It has everything I like in a book, romance, intrigue, a bit of drams. A good read.

I just finished reading The Cottages on Silver Beach by RaeAnne Thayne. I was drawn in by her characters and the complex, "messy" feelings between them. Megan and Elliott, the photographic artist and the FBI agent, had a lot of past history to work through on their way to a loving relationship that neither believed was possible. I love the family loyalty and small town environment. The story was an emotional one for me, and I highly recommend it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel of romance curried with serious roadblocks created by circumstances that are unresolved. Both Eliot Bailey and Megan Hamilton are strong characters, each wanting the other but stymied by a past event that overshadows her life and creates a heretofore unsolvable puzzle for him. In their desire to be together, the puzzle (where her brother’s wife disappeared to) has to be resolved in order for Eliot and Megan to move forward. The wall it creates between them is impenetrable without this resolution.

Elliot, on-leave from the FB,I, has always wondered what happened to his best friend's wife. He is so sure she was murdered by her husband but could never find any proof.. Elliot becomes interested n Megan - who just happens to be his former best friend's sister who categorically denies that her brother had anything to do with his wife's disappearance.. Eliot back at home in Haven Point secures old police records about the missing woman and realizes there might be more to the story An intriguing mystery with a great romance.

I loved the story of Megan and Elliot. A very sweet heartwarming story that at times brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't put it down. The authors writing has a way that just wraps you up in the story and makes you feel a part of it.
My favorite part was when her brother, Luke, stood up for Megan at the art opening.
Definitely a very good book, highly recommend it.
