In this 3rd graphic novel in the Chloe series, Frenemies has Chloe dealing with a new internship and an old foe. Chloe find that her arch nemesis, Anissa, is now one of her coworkers, Can she make it through the day? Will her insecurity get the best of her? Will she be able to deal with the "mean girls". Will she be able to handle her best friend moving away. Life is throwing her a curve ball, but can she handle it? Chloe deals with many social anxieties and situations teen girls face. This is a fun graphic novel that is heart felt and entertaining.

I got a couple of these books from Netgalley to review. I don't think I would have picked this up without being asked to review. It looks very young and it is. I didn't really get the full story because it seemed to jump all over the place. I was not a fan of the story, characters or even the artistry. I got through this one but don't think I will be picking another one up ever again. Not my kind of graphic novel.

I haven't read the first two Chloe books, but that turned out to not matter at all. It was easy enough to jump in here, and the relationships between the characters were well described.

A fun comic about a first internship and the difference in behaviour and opinions amongst teens. I enjoyed it, and could easily see myself reading more comics in this series.

This book was a little too kiddish for my taste. It was a good comic, don't get me wrong, but I would say this comic would be meant for a middle school girl. The back and forth with the bickering between the characters got a little tiring halfway through, and I could not understand for the life of me why the older lady was still able to work in the shop no matter how rude and insubordinate she was. She took on interns without consulting the owner and was still allowed to keep her job. Unrealistic and baffling and this was one of the things that kept me from enjoying the comic. Overall the comic was very well written and drawn, just too kiddish for me.

Excellently organized and entertaining. A real winner for the publisher and the reader.

Not what I was expecting story wise, but this is still a good, cute graphic novels for young girls. I love the illustrations and the cover. The colours are really well chosen. I hadn't read the 2 previous books in this series so from page 1 you are already in the middle of a story so I think if you are going to read this and make sense of it, that the previous books need to be read. Otherwise you will spend the first half of the book figuring out things. Still, based on this book alone, it was good and I'd be interested in reading the whole series.

Chloe #3 by Greg TessierChloe is a freshman who has to do an internship because... I'm not sure why? But the original one she has set up falls through but there is an opening at the same place as her frenemy (though I don't see how the two are actually friends). At first, it seems that Chloe and a rather slovenly boy named Yanni aren't going to do well at the internship but Chloe helps to guide him. Too bad she won't be happy for long since she's going to hear some bad news about her boyfriend, Alex.

The cover of this book was interesting and so I requested it from NetGalley. This isn't a series you can jump into the middle of. And it was incredibly short. A fine story that would be worth buying if it were in a volume with others in the series.

So-so comic for the very young regarding a cute girl doing work experience in a bad mixture of fashion boutique and make-over parlour. For some reason she stays on one note, and grows to admire the fat, mono-browed out-of-place-has-nothing-on-it guy also doing an internship there, but the other people involved swing from nice to uber-bitches as soon as you can turn the page. A little consistency and regular narrative flow would have worked, especially when dealing with such a young readership.

Really great layout. The book is attractive to readers and has a terrific story line.

Yes, this is book #3, and though I had some trouble at times reading it (like I didn't know Chloe's nickname was Misty until she mentioned it almost near the end, until then I thought it was an error with writing), but it was still great fun to read.

Chloe has to do an internship for school, originally she was going to work with her mom's company, but apparently something happened and she now has to find something else, and thus ends up with a girl named Anissa (who is a total stuck-up urghghhhh). We see her internship and we see that she is very much unhappy about things there. The mean girls (Anissa and Agatha) are getting all the attention and are making her internship hell.
But then something else happens and it is a turn for the better for the internship.

Chloe was a fun character, and I love how she never gives up, even when things get really crappy. She always seems to bounce back (like a chinchilla as she aptly states). I also loved the few scenes with her dating Alex, they sure make a very cute couple!

I am not sure if I like Pearl or Debarge. While Pearl is definitely much kinder, she is doing the same as Debarge is doing only friendlier. Where Debarge was focusing on the two mean girls, Pearl was focusing on Chloe and Yannis. She gave them all her attention, made some remarks to the other girls (and Debarge), just like Debarge was doing to Yannis/Chloe and Pearl.
Plus I don't really understand why Pearl was keeping Debarge. That old hag is bad for business, keeps making mean remarks, is a total old *insert some bad words*. Sorry, it is Pearl's business why doesn't she just fire that old hag?

I am not too sure how I feel about the ending, yes I am happy with how the internship ended, but it just feels better to end it there then to also tie what happens between her and her boyfriend in the last 6 pages. Plus how it ended... are you supposed to read these books in one go or am I missing pages?

I am also curious as to how old Chloe is. Given she is dating, wearing make-up I would say 16 at least, but given some other elements I would also say 12/13. It is a bit confusing.

And again, something that happens often to Netgalley graphic novels/comics, the quality of the images was horrible. I can see the art is really nice, but it is buried under countless of: Need more jpegs. :P

But all in all, I hope to find book 1 and 2 and I also hope that there will be more Chloe books in the future.
