This is an absolutely first rate knitting book Definitely one that i would be proud to own. The photography is beautiful. the patterns are great. I can easily see myself knitting several of the items from this book. The patterns are well written and the use of yarns is excellent You will love this book!!

Nice collection of modern sweaters from a great selection of knitting designers!

Most of the garments had positive ease, featured drop shoulders, and relied on the yarn or simple texture and shape for impact. A few pieces featured cables or lace. Cabled and lace designs were charted. Garment patterns included clear schematics and enough good-quality photos to have an idea of what the finished object would look like. Garment sizing ranged from XS or S to 2X.

Highlights for me included the Ojai top, a simple unstructured layering piece with novel, loose cables, and the cable-y goodness of the Topanga Canyon Cardigan.

Woolstudio - The Capsule Collection captured my attention with its knitting designs that look modern, uncomplicated, comfortable, and elegant at the same time. The two models I am very interested in knitting are Monterey Tee with its airy lace pattern and the Chatam Pullover with its simple pattern that makes the yarn shine. I also love the Malibu Cowl for which I already have a yarn I could use.

This may be described as a capsule collection of knitted clothing, but for me it would be everyday wear. I am a little sad to see the sizes are mostly smaller sizes. For a plus size woman, I would really have to determine if I wanted to modify the pattern enough to make them fit me, but I did not expect to find any plus clothing in the book. I love the choices in this book and if you want some basic knitted clothing and shawls then this would be a good book for you. Though from reading the patterns I do recommend that you have a intermediate knowledge of knitting before trying these patterns.

This would make a wonderful gift for any knitter and would make a wonderful start to create their own capsule collection of knit wear.

I would definitely recommend this book to a beginner knitter. It has some lovely ideas for a younger person and is well written and presented

This is a beautiful book, with lots of great ideas. I have only made a cowl, but I can’t wait to get started with the next project. It was an easy to follow pattern and I loved the yarn (I ordered the same as used in the book). There is a mixture of projects, but mainly larger projects like jumpers. There are several projects I would like to make , and also others where I might use some of the ideas if not the patterns as a whole.

Some lovely ideas here although I felt like it was not for beginner knitters.

The Wool Studio is just that- 19 patterns made with luxurious wool yarns. What I love most about this book is that the patterns are not just one size, but are actually written to get up to fairly large sizes. There are a wide variety of patterns including tees, pullovers, cardigans and cowls. This collection is from several different designers, which gives each piece it's own unique flavor. Designs include lacework, cables, and color work. There are also patterns that are more for beginners. The patterns are well written and easy to follow. The charts for lacework and cabling are very detailed. The photographs give several angles so you have a great idea of what the project will look like when completed. There really is something for everyone, and I can't wait to get started on the Falmouth cardigan. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

A wonderful book of traditional knitting patterns with a gentle twist. There are 21 lovely patterns, extremely well presented, with charts, sketch of components and easy to follow directions. These are probably not for beginners, although they are not difficult. Designed by 16 different designers these classical designs will be worn for years to come, they are absolutely gorgeous and offer something different.

The book looks bold and colourful and is certainly well designed but was disappointed most of the patterns were a little dated looking and all the patterns I considered were circular knitting, think it needs to be clearer. With that in mind I found it was beyond my skill level

There are some very lovely patterns in this collection. I did feel like a handful of them would not be wearable -- which isn't to say that construction wouldn't be fun. It also seemed that many of the patterns followed the same construction -- quite a lot of bat sleeve constructions and off-the-shoulder shoulder seams here. The ones I could see myself making and loving are Chatham, Pismo Beach, Malibu Cowl, Hyannis Port, and the Santa Cruz Wrap.

Beautiful designs, some classic and some more innovative. Lots of choice for knitters who are ready to stretch their skills a little, yet still some that are more simple. Lovely book.

Wool Studio is an inspiring collection of designer knits that in their structure and design, allow the beauty of the yarn speak for itself. The knitting patterns range from adventurous beginner to advanced intermediate in difficulty. There are also several patterns that use short rows for shaping and fit. Brioche stitches are also featured on a few patterns. Those stitch patterns were charted, I did feel that more explanation of Brioche stitches could have been given. The book is beautifully photographed, showing the details that make each sweater, shawl or accessory design special and unique.

I am primarily a shawl knitter. However, like Dumbledore, “ I so love reading knitting patterns”. To me, they are little novels and as a designer (for myself at this point) I find it inspiring to get outside of my box to look at the design and structure of amazing garments. This book is as much an enjoyment to read through and be inspired as much as choosing patterns to knit.

I did find that I very much want to add the Ruana and the Pismo Beach Sweater (although maybe convert it to a cardigan!) to my que. I am already wondering if I have yarns in my stash that will work!

Thank you to the publisher for providing me a copy of this book to review.

An interesting assortment of knitwear but not to everyone's taste (including mine). A lot of dropped shoulders and sweater that don't really look like they fit well on the models. Definitely need to look through the book before you buy.

What a beautiful book. It is full of lovely fashionable patterns which an intermediate to experienced knitter would love. I would be happy to try any of these designs for myself. It is incredibly good value for money when you consider it can cost upwards of £3.50 for one pattern. I particularly like the fact that there are patterns for different weights of yarn and although they are American brands they could be substituted for European brands.

A modern knitters book of stylish patterns. Many complex, short row shapes, stitchers, lace all creating a lovely collection that accomplished knitters will cherish.

Charted patterns, new techniques, this would be a great addition to any but a beginning knitters bookshelf.

Wool Studio The Knitwear Capsule Collection by Meghan Babin
Loved the picture on the front and even more once I read the description of this book. Can't say enough good things about this book.
Love the drape in the high end photographs in this book. Have given away two of my sweaters-long cardigans and am in the market to make new ones and the ideas in this book are just what I needed.
Can't decide to which one to try first. Love that the patterns are easy-easy for me and I love the names of the areas on the West and East coasts as I've been through many.
Some of the pattern names on their respective pages are hard to read-dark on dark print or light on light print.
Introdcution talks about the fun things in this book, the designs and what to expect ahead.
The yarn really makes the drape and flirtiness keeping the style glamourous and feminine I feel.
Each pattern starts out with a brief summary of the item and how it's assembled and worked.
Finished size measurements, yarn to be used and what was used in the finished product, needles required, notions, gauge, and other notes.
Stitch guide also gives details of special stitches in the pattern. Very easy to follow-there is no level rating. Some designs are spelled out row by row and then til what length, some are charted on graph style paper.
Like the diagram of the finished item and how each section has a letter corresponding to the finished measurements.
Cowls I also found so stunning. Love infinity scarves-even have my husband wearing his now for warmth.
Charted patterns are very self explanatory and easy to follow along, be sure to read the whole pattern all the way through before you begin.
Yarn resources are mentioned, love the section on all the designers, they leave me inspired from the work they do. Other works by the designers are highlighted at the end.
Received this review copy from F+W Media via Netgalley and this is my honest opinion.

Before this book, I'd never come across a knitting book where NONE of the patterns appealed to me at all. Sadly, WOOL STUDIO broke that streak for me. The introduction says "this is a time capsule-collection series for the modern woman featuring sophisticated, simple, and luxurious knitwear. We've paired talented designers with exceptional yarns to bring you a chic and timeless collection of knits." Perhaps the issue is that I'm not into runway fashions and that's what a large percentage of the patterns look like to me. I'm giving the book 3 stars because it does cater to knitters on various levels of skill, but I'd warn would-be users that it doesn't cater to wearers of various sizes...almost all the patterns would top out at an XL, though most only go to an L size.

Are you a process knitter? Savoring each stitch as you knit with sumptuous yarn. Patterns for intermediate knitters in a variety of styles, pullovers, cardigans, cowls, and ponchos, to name a few are showcased in yarns to die for. Each project is shaped and draped to fit flatter and be appealing to the modern knitter.

I received a free copy of Wool Studio: The Knitwear Capsule Collection by Meghan Babin in exchange for an honest review. If you do not enjoy tracking sleeve decreases in bottom-up sweater construction, this is the book for you. The bulk of the patterns in this book are drop-shoulder sleeve construction as shown on the cover.

There are also five or six less-elaborate top-down patterns with raglan sleeves as well as patterns for scarves, cowls, and an asymmetrical poncho that may make the purchase worth while if you don’t like drop-shoulder sleeves.
