5 Stars!!!

Scoring Off The Field is book 2 in the WAGS series by Naima Simone and it can be perfectly read as a standalone, which is what I did, but book 1 sounds really good, too, so I'll try to read it sometime soon.

What I loved: I loved the cover, it is eye-catching and I adore the color scheme. The blurb was what drew me in, though, I love best friends-to-lovers books! Also, I thought Naima Simone's writing was stellar!

My favorite part of the book was Tennyson, though, and really, it's been a while since I've been able to say this. I primarily read MM, with a few MF books here and there, and unfortunately, most of the heroines end up pissing me off. That didn't happen here. I adored Tenny from the first page until the last one and I was rooting for her all along. She was fierce and loyal and caring, I found her relatable and real, and I wanted to punch Dom for being so blind to what he had in front of him all along. I adored that she didn't let him walk all over her and that she stood her ground. The chemistry between Tenny and Dom was out of this world and they fit really well together.

What I liked: I liked Dom, but I was so frustrated with him! Argh, grrr! Really, even when he finally started to see Tenny as a woman and not just his BFF, he kept pushing her away because of something that happened to him back when he was in college. It was pretty annoying, especially since he should've known that would never happen with Tenny or should have, at least. *slaps Dom* However, he did win me over there at the end. That was a great part of the book!

I enjoyed the interactions with the secondary characters. I'm really intrigued about Renee and Jason and I hope we'd get their story. Pretty please, Ms. Simone?

Overall, I absolutely loved this book! Fun, engaging, with scorching hot sex scenes that threatened to set my kindle on fire, I was drawn into the story and I just couldn't put it down, even the fact that I just got three hours of sleep on the day I read it was well worth it. Highly recommendable!

Dominic Anderson is a hot, alpha football star who has left a wake of broken hearts in his path. This character made me swoon and love him from the start!! His best friend Tennyson, who he has been friends with for 14 years is not only his best friend but also his assistant. These two have been as close as two people could be from young children and have been through so much together. Dom trusts her implicitly and doesn’t know what he would do without her and there in itself lies a big, big problem.

Tennyson is just one of the best characters I have read in a very long time! She is genuine and loving and caring and has secretly been in love with Dom forever…only he doesn’t know it. It comes time that Tenny can’t fight her feelings for Dom. She knows from an uncomfortable experience that if she tells Dom, it could jeopardize not only their friendship but their working relationship as well. Tenny decides she can’t work for Dom anymore and needs to put some space between them not only professionally but personally.

Lots of emotions come to the surface and I don’t want to get too deep into the ties that bind them but it was described so vividly that you can tell their relationship and bond runs deep. I love, love, loved watching Tenny find the courage to break away from Dom and even though it killed her, she finally put herself and her needs and wants first and foremost. I love, love, loved even MORE the way Dom has a holy sh*t moment and panics he will lose her. Not only is their bond awesome to witness there were quite a few hot, steamy sex scenes that was just the icing on this wonderful cake!!! I definitely recommend this one ladies. Dom is one hot alpha who will have you swooooooning!!! I wish I had a Dom in my life!!!!

This is the second book in the series and I did enjoy it. This book is about Dom and Tenny. Tenny has loved Dom for years but he only sees her as his little sister and she has finally decided she can not continue to work as his PA and loving him from afar and continue to get her heartbroken as he continues with his hit-it and quit it relationships. Dom is flabbergasted he can not believe that Tenny wants to leave him, that is how he sees it, and as she starts looking for replacements for him, his eyes are finally open to the woman standing before him. Of course things do not go smoothly for them, Dom wants a friends with benefits relationship and she agrees until she leaves..But things dont always go as planned. Enjoy!

Tennyson Clark is finally ready to move on with her life. She doesn't need her best friend, Dominic 'Dom' Anderson, to look out for her anymore. Her first task is to quit her job as Dom's personal assistant and finally pursue a career in social work and then find a man that will give her the kind of love she deserves. But when Dom proposes a friends with benefits relationship, Tennyson can't say no, not when she's been in love with Dom for years. Will Dom be able to convince Tennyson to stay or will she walk away from her chance at happy ever after?

Ms. Simone has delivered another smashing success for this series in this book where the main characters were incredible due to their back stories; and the dialogue was a wonderful combination of intense moments and playful banter that had me loving the tight friendship these two have and that Dom would do anything for Tennyson. The way this story started had me immediately hooked, as Tennyson is finally ready to live her life for her instead of continuing to rely on Dom because there's no way he'll be anything more than her friend. Will Dom ever feel for her what Tennyson feels for him?

With the main characters, I absolutely loved Tennyson and Dom. They're so good together, have lots of chemistry and every time they converse ups the sexual tension between them that eventually spills over onto the pages in fan-your-face sex scenes that do this couple's intense chemistry justice. Moreover, the heroine is resilient and courageous in that she's finally ready to move on from her love for Dom because football is always going to be his number one priority and she wants a man to put her first and give her the kind of love she deserves -- unconditional and forever. I also liked the heroine in the moments where she has fun and lets her hair down, especially when she was with her friends in Sophia and Renee.

While the hero, he's one of the best heroes I've read in a book this year. His back story had me ready to cry while it made me understand why he's so driven to be the best player he can be. I also liked how confident the hero was and that he would do anything for the heroine. She's always been his rock and there's no way he can lose her, which is proven by how far he's willing to go to make sure the heroine doesn't replace him in her life. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was the decisions he made when it came to both his personal and professional lives, especially the moment where he wants the heroine to know how important she is to him.

Overall, Ms. Simone has penned another incredible read for her Wags series in this book where the ending had me loving what the hero does to win back the heroine. He's so brave and determined and I could just imagine how many hearts broke when women heard his words. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up wonderfully, as Tennyson and Dom are so happy together. I would recommend Scoring off the Field by Naima Simone, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope or books by authors Amy Andrews, Cindi Madsen, Jami Davenport and Kate Meader.

Another great book in the series. This one about best friend Dom and Tenny. Tenny has hots and deeper emotion toward her best friend for years and decides to stand on her feet without Dom. Dom is of course in shock he doesn't understand Tenny and because all the events start seeing Tenny in a different light not so much like a best friend but as a woman with curves in the right places. All the sudden attraction is hard to fight and they start a physical relationship which is for Tenny, not enough. I liked both Dom and Tenny. She was really strong to stand for herself and although loved him fiercely she saw that she must let Dom go. Dom was also great I loved that he came to the conclusion that she loves her on her own and that she is the reason that keeps him going and fighting. Great story.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

From the moment I started reading this book there was a sense of familiarity to the storyline, a sense of getting exactly what I wanted and needed. Though things went as I expected, with no surprising twists and turns, it still made for a very satisfying read. It was a heartwarming read, sweet and sexy, that despite not breaking any new ground kept me fully immersed in its charming narrative.

As youngsters, Tennyson Clark and Dominic Anderson met in the world of foster care, both dealing with loss and clinging to each other for support. While Dom went on to get adopted by his football coach he never forgot about Tenny as she became the driving force in his journey to football success. He took care of her financially, protected her from emotional hurts, and gave her a job as his PA. He entwined her completely into his life and can’t imagine her not being there. That’s why her decision to get a new job, applying out of state too, throws him for a loop. They’ve always been close, he knows her just as well as he knows himself and he feels betrayed by her decision. With their time together coming to an end he starts seeing her in a whole new light though that has their friendship turning romantic. Always the playboy, he thought he could keep their relationship carefree but he quickly starts falling for his friend. But as his feelings become more romantic, his fear over losing someone else he loves has him making his own frustrating decision that changes both of their lives irrevocably. From the moment I first saw Dom I was enamored. Yes, he’s popular with the ladies but he always made his intentions clear. His first love is football and he’ll never do anything to jeopardize his standing as a disastrous relationship early in his career taught him. He and Tenny are delightful together, sweet and snarky and able to sense what the other thinks and feels without a word...at least until feelings of love enter the picture. When it does he discovers he’s been completely oblivious to Tenny’s long-simmering love. As the story progressed Dom showed his deepening feelings through numerous subtle words and deeds, with feelings of jealousy arising too. By the end he achieved book boyfriend status with a glorious Grand Gesture that warmed my heart and proved his love for Tenny without a doubt.

Tennyson had a tough childhood as the daughter of a woman with a mental disorder who purposely sickened her child for attention. It left her fearful of hospitals as well as feeling unloved. The one person to truly care for her after entering the system was Dom and she came to count on him. He was always there for her, keeping her safe and loved, and he became her family. He also became the standard by which she judged all other men. After a drunken confession to him about her feelings though, and after the awkward ending to two of their friends becoming short-term lovers, she was firmly placed in the friend-zone. Realizing that life is passing her by means getting out from under the heartbreaking protection of Dom to make a life of her own. But before she leaves she gets a taste of all she ever dreamed of in a sweet and sexy friends-with-benefits relationship that becomes more emotionally intense. Tenny’s a likable heroine, one who’s strong-willed yet naive when it comes to men. For too long she kept her heart hidden, but she’s not willing to do so any longer and it shows her in a more mature light as she stands up for what she wants. For him, she was willing to battle old demons and it had me cheering.

From the first page to the last this was a charming read with bits of humor and a few scorching encounters along the way to HEA. Tenny’s a heroine who’s easy to relate to with a fun and flirty connection to Dom. Dom’s a very sexy and romantic hero in his own subtle ways that had me drooling over him. As friends they were funny and supportive, but as a couple they crackled. Surrounding this combustible couple were an entertaining cast of secondary characters who felt more like family. I enjoyed Dom and his teammates, Zeph and Ronin, with interactions full of support as well as brotherly banter. These glimpses have me excited for the future, a future of many more combustible romances set in the football world!

Title: Scoring Off The Field
Series: WAGS Book #2
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: Naima Simone
Genre: Romance
Blurb: Tennyson Clark is getting a life. First step: quitting her job as assistant to Dominic Anderson, star quarterback for the Washington Warriors, her best friend…and the man she’s been secretly in love with for years. But since the gorgeous, if overprotective playboy has only ever seen her as his BFF, she’s finally ready to relinquish her tattered fantasy and move on. Enter steps two and three: new job and new man.
Football is Dominic's life, and with his contract soon up for renewal, all his focus needs to be on the game. But Tennyson—dependable, logical Tennyson—is making that next to impossible with her mysterious new job and her sudden interest in online dating. He doesn’t do relationships. But the thought of another man touching her sexier-than-hell curves has him suddenly wanting more from his best friend.
Indulging in hot, dirty, what’s-my-name sex with no strings and lots of benefits is simple, uncomplicated…until it’s not.
Favorite quote(s): “It’s a noun. Definition. When someone is so much of an a@$hole, they need another syllable.”
“In my day, we at least tried to add a little mystery about whether or not we’d eventually give in. Now they’re just handing it away like there’s a fire sale on kitty cat.”
Thoughts: My absolute favorite troupe is a good friends-to-lovers romance, quickly followed by having one of the characters pining away from a major crush – with this book I get the added bonus of both! The story was enjoyable, but also distinct. For one thing, Tennyson hasn’t totally been pining away in secret…she actually did try to tell Dominic about her feelings – and got turned down for her efforts with the ‘let’s just be friends’ speech. Tenny is also…well, spunky – she makes a strong effort to do what she needs to for her own emotional well-being, and she doesn’t just sit back and take Dominic’s crap. This girl stands up for herself. She’s also interesting…I loved her tendency to use off-the-wall words. She was just a fun character and she really made this book. Dominic was a good character, but he could be a bit of a clueless ass sometimes.
I’ve read and reviewed the previous book in the series, and I have a new respect for this author. She’s one of the stand-out authors for Entangled and I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read from her. You come across familiar characters in Scoring Off The Field, but it also stays a stand alone title without making you feel lost.
Thoroughly enjoyable!

Holy Sports Balls! (ok, bad expression hahaha but damnnnn)

This is my first Naima Simone book and I absolutely loved it!
To tell you the truth, I am always on guard when it comes to friends to lovers kind of contemporary romance. I always feel like the storyline usually have this 'been there, done that' kind of vibe but I actually really enjoyed Scoring Off The Field a lot.

This book was written really well... I think it says a lot about an author if and when they bring a refreshing aura and cleanse to a storyline that's been done before.
Tennyson is a hoot! I loved her wit and imagination the most... Dominic is a force to be reckoned with.... because people! You could feel the macho sportsman vibe through the pages of the book...well...in this case...through my kindle hahahaha

You know what I loved the most? The mutual loyalty between Tennyson and Dominic.
What else did I love? The chemistry between these two was fantastically beautiful! They had this 'I really want you but I really don't want to ruin what we have' kind of vibe which makes us, as readers, literally sit on the edge of our seat.

It's safe to say that this book is steamy and Tennyson and Dominic's friendship/ relationship is filled with humour and a lot of sexual tension which ultimately leads to a lot of sexy scene...

I hope you give Scoring Off The Field a try because I swear you won't be disappointed.

Enjoyed this for the most part. Naima Simone’s writing style is so engaging and sucks you right in. I loved Tennyson (aka Tenny). I loved how she has this thing where she learns new words and uses them in sentences and that because her and Dom have been friends for so long that they’re so in tuned with each other. And friends to lovers is one of my fave tropes. I just love it! Here we have all this baggage on both their sides, of meeting each other is the foster system and becoming friends and Tenny’s unrequited love for Dom situation. A source of a lot of tension right there.

I know I’m jumping ahead here but damn there’s this scene close to the end about 81% or so which is so chock full of all sorts of emotions there. Tenny actually faced her fear of hospitals when Dom gets hurt, reveals her true feelings and the entire time I was on edge because yiiiiiikes feelings are really hard to reveal ok. But Naima Simone wrote this so beautifully because my heart was basically in my throat for Tenny and then Dom’s response. *crying emojis* cuz lol I have been there and related so much to Tenny in that moment.

In spite of the issues I had with this book (and yeah we’re getting to those) I will always be in awe of the way Naima's words just drags you in and makes you feel allll the things. Damn I’m exhausted from this roller coaster of emotions lol.

The sexual tension and actual sex scenes daaaamn. As with book 1 in this series I have no problems with those. Naima Simone knows how to write steamy sex scenes and tension that just got you on the edge of your seat waiting…hoping that this whole will they or wont they push and pull will end is yessss they will! *fans self* And lawd when they do it is so wooorth it.

And now, the things that irked me:

I Didn’t like how Dom seeing Tenny on her dinner date proceeds to be reallyyy inappropriate by mentioning how he’s seen her in her underwear (implying she stripped for him when that wasn’t the case at all) and also implying how she’s a drunk. Listen I get being jealousy ok I do. I’ve been jealous but doing this??? Yeah no. he apologized for his behaviour after but that just annoyed me so much. >.>

Sometimes he bordered on too much of an alpha hole for me and yeah I didn’t always like him.

Another thing: Tenny is insecure about her body (she says/thinks her extra 20 pounds is one of the reasons Dom wasn’t attracted to her) which fine we all have insecurities but Dom is trying to make her feel better about herself which I appreciated but he says: “You’re not heavy Tennyson. You’re a woman. With a woman’s curves” I meaaaaaan so many things to unpack here. Does he really need to imply that even if she was heavy that’s a bad thing?? Cuz she can be heavy and sexy at the same time, it doesn’t have to be a separate thing?? Also you don’t have to have curves to be a woman juuust saying.

And there was also this: Dom and Tenny are in the middle of sexy times and he notes how she’s watching him. How he’s had people think of him as hot, eye candy etc and with Tenny the way she looks at him makes him feel beautiful. Which was suuuuch a good scene. I was all yess Dom you go right on feeling beautiful but then, oh then he had to ruin it with this line:

“And fuck, didn’t that sound like he’d grown a vagina in the last five-point-two seconds."

>.> *insert the longest of sighs here* Can we just not have heroes say or think stuff like this please???? Having feelings/emotions doesn’t make you a woman, which he is so definitely implying here and also important to note having a vagina doesn’t automatically equal woman either. Come on! These might seem like simple harmless throwaway lines but they are not.

Stuff like that really yanks me out of the scene cuz then I’m just annoyed and pissed off when I was otherwise enjoying reading. Ugh

Trust me you can have your hero be averse to catching feelings (I promise you this also isn’t gender specific ok.) and also not have him think/say stuff like this. *end rant*

So while i really liked Tenny i had mixed feelings about Dom.
Although he sort of redeemed himself with me when he went after Tenny. Good. He should be the one making that move. She’s done enough. So he wasn’t completely hopeless after all lol. And I was smiling and nodding when in the end Tenny turned down the job for herself, not for Dom. Because she’d figured out that the strength she was looking for, within herself, was there all the time. I absolutely loved this growth in Tenny and that she didn’t make this epiphany all about Dom.

And i enjoyed seeing Sophia and Zeph and their other friends in the group, from book 1.

So for the most part I did enjoy the book *glares at things I didn’t like* and I will keep reading this series because I’m so intrigued by the other guys in the group especially Ronin. I just wish the heroes would stop saying shit like the above (i had similar problems in book 1 as well).

RATING 4.5 STARS

Scoring off the Field is book two in the WAGS series by Naima Simone. This book can definitely be read as a stand alone. I have not read the first book in this series but believe me, now I want to.

Dominic Anderson is the star quarterback for the Washington Warriors, one of the best teams in the NFL. Football is all Dom has ever known. His love for the game started when he was little with a shared love of all things football with his Dad. But when he lost his parents in a car crash, football became his salvation in the following years. He lost his focus to a woman once in college and it almost cost him everything. Never again. His career, football, has to be his focus. Football and his best friend, Tennyson.

Tennyson Clark had a less than stellar mother. After she was removed from her home when she was just ten years old, she became part of the system. It’s where she stayed until she finished high school. The only good thing that came from those years in foster homes was meeting Dom, her best friend. After getting her degree in social work, Dom convinced her to work for him as his PA. He wanted her close, to look out for her. So, she agreed. Now five years later, she knows it’s time. She has to strike out on her own.

Tenny has loved Dom… been “in” love with him, for well over ten years now. But he made it clear that he is not interested in relationships. He has a constant string of women but they are only for a night. It’s the hardest thing Tenny does, watching him with women, knowing how much she loved him but could never tell him. She couldn’t jeopardize what they had, their friendship. She knew he didn’t want what she needed, commitment, to be the most important thing in her man’s life. So it’s time. She has been sending out resumes and one prospect looks promising. Only it’s thousands of miles away. She has even signed up for some online dating sites. She has to move on. Dom can never love her more than as a sister. She deserves more.

When Dom finds out Tenny is quitting and looking for work elsewhere, that’s one thing, but online dating…just NO. Doesn’t she know how dangerous that is? There is no way he is letting her do that. It’s not that he doesn’t want her dating, doesn’t want any man touching her. No, it just isn’t safe, right?! When things get heated between them and anger has flared up, he suddenly finds his lips on hers, and everything as they knew it changed.

This is such a fantastic friends to lovers story. These two both had unhappiness in their childhoods. But fate had brought them together and together is how they faced life, faced everything. They both depended on each other, took care of each other. Tenny, though, is the only one who recognized her feelings for Dom, and it broke my heart. Even though she didn’t think so, she was really so strong. Especially after keeping her feelings to herself for all these years.

Even as their friendship changes, it’s still not enough. Tenny deserves to be loved in the same way she can give love, with her whole heart. And Dom can never give her that. I fell in love with these two. Together they were adorable. But Dom was clueless. Will he ever get his priorities straight? Or will he lose the best thing he has in his life, his Tenny?

Scoring Off the Field by Naima Simone is the second steamy romance in her football romance series WAGS (which stands for Wives and Girlfriends). This one stars a pair of longtime friends who become lovers, then have to decide where things really stand between them.

Tennyson Clark has been under Dominic Anderson's care for years. Meeting in the foster child system, the older Dom had made it his mission to be there for Tennyson in all things. Eventually becoming a professional football player, he'd helped put her through school, then hired her to be his personal assistant. They have a friendship that's passed the test of time. There was that one incident, years earlier, when an inebriated Tenny had blurted out her love for Dominic, only to be gently rebuffed by a young man not on the same page. Tenny knows she needs to start thinking of spreading her wings, and finding her own way without Dom's help, so she makes the decision to quit as his P.A and look for a job using her social work degree.

Dom can't understand why Tenny wants to distance herself from him. She's his rock, his confidante, his best friend. And then there's this new heated attraction that seems to be simmering between them. When he gives into those feelings and Tenny clearly seems to be on the same page, their passion is intense and explosive. But with Tenny planning to leave in a few weeks, is their new friends with benefits relationship going to fizzle out before they can see where it could lead?

I really enjoyed this story! Naima Simone writes fun and likable characters, and Tenny isn't afraid to express her opinions and challenge Dom when necessary. What she doesn't want is for him to realize that she's in love with him, though their circle of friends seems to have clued into her feelings even if Dom himself hasn't. There are some emotional parts to their histories, with Tenny having had a mentally unstable mother who instilled in Tenny a fear of doctors and hospitals, to the point where they give her panic attacks. And Dom was orphaned when his parents died in a car accident, his father's love of football being the impetus for Dom to honor their memory by putting all his energy and time into football. Things have not been easy for these two, making their friendship important to them both.

Even with these more serious themes, there are some lighthearted scenes, fun banter and of course the sizzle of the sex scenes between Dom and Tenny. There's some good on field football scenes in this one and I really enjoy Dom's teammates who are good friends to them both. This is a sexy and enjoyable romance, and I'm looking forward to reading more of the series!

Tennyson Clark and Dominic Anderson met in foster care. His parents died in an accident when he was 12. She was put in the system at age 11 due to her mom’s mental illness. They immediately connect and Dom becomes her protector and best friend.

It’s 14 years later. Dom is a famous NFL quarterback and Tenny is his personal assistant. He’s kept her with him and they are very close. Tenny has been in love with Dom for over 10 years but has kept her feelings hidden. She has two degrees that she's not using. She finally decides she needs to get her own life since Dom is never going to see her as more than a close friend and her heart can't take any more. She gives him a months notice.

Dom can't believe Tenny is leaving him. He has one month to figure out how to keep her in his life. He could never cross the line with her because she's the most important person in his life. And he doesn't do relationships. Except, he and Tenny have been together for 14 years. One night the line gets crossed with the understanding it will have an expiration date. It surpasses both their expectations. Dom has to figure out how to get over his relationship issues and convince Tenny he wants the whole package with her.

While I wanted to smack Dom a few times for being so obtuse, this is a short, sweet, best friends to lovers story. I loved Dom's on air interview.

This was my first novel by Ms. Simone and it won’t be my last. Even though this is the second book in the WAGS series, I read it as a standalone and was not lost at all. It does, however, make me want to read the first book in the series now!!
Tenny (Tennison) and Dom have been friends ever since they met as kids in the foster care system in Dayton, OH. Now the pair live in Seattle and have stayed as close as friends as possible. Tenny is even PA to Dom, since his career with the professional football team requires complete focus. But Tenny has decided it’s time to move on. She’s been in love with Dom for as far back as she can remember and can no longer sit by while he dates supermodels, actresses, etc. Giving him her notice is the first step into breaking away from him, or so she thinks. She’s thankful to Dom for all he’s done for her, including helping to pay for her college education and moving her to WA with him.
Dom’s not ready to let go of his best friend and refuses to accept any of the candidates for her position that she finds. He doesn’t understand why she wants to leave the job and has no clue that she’s been in love with him for years (even though she did drunkenly confess it to him, but she explained the next morning that it was the alcohol talking).
What a great friends to lover story!! I cried, I laughed, I wanted to beat each of them over the head a few times. The writing is so good, and Ms. Simone has a way of pulling you directly into the story. You won’t want to leave and hate the eviction notice when you read “The End”. I can’t wait to read more by this author!!

Review:
What a great story of friends to lovers romance!

I loved that Tenny is insecure, but is willing to change her life to get what she wants. For all the things that Tenny and Dom have gone through in their lives, they are still up-standing and have good heads on their shoulders. Dom is great too, having been burned before and orphaned at a young age makes him gun shy, but when push comes to shove he goes after the girl. This is the second book in the Wags series and each can be read as a stand alone. Other characters in the series do make appearances, as they are all friends and part of the same team.

I have read Ms. Simone before and like her other books, this one is very well-written, with interesting characters and a story premise that draws you in.

This adult, sexy story is perfect if you like romance with heart and good ol' sexy times.

Scoring off the Field by Naima Simone is the second book in her WAGS series and I was so excited to read it. I loved the first book in the series, Scoring the Wrong Twin. I am a huge fan of sport romances and this one did not disappoint!

Only two things matter to Dominic Anderson, football and his best friend, Tennyson Clark. Football is his first love and with contract up for renewal, he needs to keep his focus on the game. To help him, he has always counted on his best friend and PA, Tenny, to keep him organized and focused. He does not do relationships, because they get in the way.

Tenny has been in love with his best friend for years. But all he sees is his best friend and the one person he could always count on. He does not see the woman she is. She knows she needs to move on if she ever wants to get over him, even if that means leaving Dom. But can she do it, can she really walk away?

Dom cannot seem to help but notice the woman Tenny has become when she decides to quit her job as his PA and start online dating. He has never wanted to cross any lines with Tenny, she means too much. But when she starts to stand up to him and make decisions he cannot control, he can’t stop noticing her. Now he is thinking things he should never associate with Tenny, his best friend.

I loved Tenny. She loved Dom and always put him first, but once she decided to put herself first, she stood up for herself and went after what she wanted. Dom does not want a relationship to interfere with his focus on the game, but when Tenny changes things, he can’t help but focus on Tenny.

I really enjoyed this story. it was a bit angsty, sweet and sexy friends-to-lovers story. I wanted to smack Dom a few times before he finally realized what he really wants and as always been in front of him. I loved Tenny and Dom and seeing the characters from the first book. Can’t wait to read more from this series! Though this is a series, you can read each story as a standalone.

While this isn’t my favorite scenario I’ve heard good things about the author and her writing and excited to read this.
I can say that I liked the authors writing style. She was able to bring these charcacters to life.

My issues where the characters themselevs. I had a hard time liking either one.
The premise is a friends to lovers but it’s more of an unrequited love story. Tennyson has been pining over Dom for years, she even tells him that she’s loved him but he’s so wrapped up in himself he doesn’t see it. I was so angry with him throughout most of the book that he could toss her love and be so careless with her emotions.
I also found it to be very repetitive in the beginning of the book.

The one positive is this author can write some pretty steam sex scenes. The characters knew how to connect in bed.

I’ll seek out more from this author despite not liking this particular book.

Scoring off the field was provided to me as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Tenny and Dom are best friends. They have been since they were teenagers. However Tenny has been in love with him for just as long. She's tired of the unrequited love and ready to make her own life and decisions. But when Dom realizes she is more woman than he's seen he can't resist. Of course we all know that for Tenny half way won't cut it.

Dom is used to makijng huge decisions in a clutch but will this Quarterback be able to save the game and keep his best friend ?

It was a quick and good read. These two are interesting characters and though the plot is a best friend turn lover chance at love story it was good and pulling. Seriously enjoyed it.

when tennyson finally quits on dominic in scoring off the field everything changes. she just figured it was time to stop putting her life on hold pining for someone who would never see her the way she wanted him to. but for dominic it's earth-shattering. it's ground shifting beneath his feet, suddenly the whole world around him is different and he can't figure out what changed.

because suddenly he's seeing tennyson in ways he never did before. or ways that he managed to suppress before. and now she's dating and looking to move towns and leave him and his job behind. and it's all happening just when his contract is up for renewal and he needs to keep his head in the game. and the thing is, tenny has been dom's rock. she's his best friend. and he is hers.

and on the one hand, you understand the hesitation to cross that line. when something is so good already, how could it be better right? well once the sparks fly and they get all crazy and hot and in love, you see how it can be better.

it takes some time for these two to figure out their new reality though. their past bond is so deep and they are so uncertain of each other in this new light. but once they let go and figure out that they can really trust each other with their hearts. it all works out.
