Dom doesn't really miss a thing, “did you just check out my package?” he drawled." Dom likes to give his woman options, "...or are you going to do something with this.” He swept a hand down his chest and fisted his ***k..." I liked this book, I loved Dom.

The characterisation and background to their romance were strong. Tenny and Dom were great characters and so likeable. I thought the story of their connection was great, it pulled at my heart and made me feel warm.

However, I found the pace just too slow and at points a bit turgid. For me some of the sex scenes were a bit superfluous and boring, bit like sex by numbers.

But I know that’s a style thing and everyone reads differently so others may love the style.

In “Scoring off the Field” by Naima Simone we are pulled into the world of Tennyson Clark, PA and best friend to star quarterback Dominic Anderson. We were introduced to both of them in “Scoring with the Wrong Twin”. Tennyson has loved Dominic since he took her under his wing when she was 11 and they were both in the foster care system. But her love was rejected once before by Dom so she is unwilling to risk that hurt again – the only solution is to move on with her life – both personnel and love. But when she tells Dom this everything changes.

Can Dom see what has been under his nose all this time before it is too late or will their friendship suffer from the friend zone he has put them in?

I received a copy of this book through Net Galley and this is my honest review.

Tennyson is #goals, and this cover is damn fine.

I have to say that I haven’t been this excited about discovering a new author in a while, but Naima Simone has become a one-click author for me. I read and loved the first book in the WAGS series, so picking up Scoring off the Field was automatic for me. I loved this one.

Tennyson Clark has been in love with her best friend for years, but she has been firmly planted in the friend zone. It’s time for a change. First step? Not to be the man's personal assistant. But her employer slash best friend slash sexy football quarterback, Dominic Anderson, isn’t quite ready to let her go…or to start seeing Tennyson as something more.

Instant. Love.

I adored Tennyson. She has this engaging persona that leaps right off the page, and you can’t help but want this woman as your best friend. She has always kinda let her superstar football player/best friend, Dom, take care of her, and she has reached a point where she wants more than Dom can give her.

No one puts Tenny in a corner, ya’ll!

The humor was on point and rip-roaringly funny, and you could feel the crackle of chemistry in the air. Even with them being friends you know the inevitable pull is coming and will be downright explosive. I will say that Dom hella frustrated me, but he is also so incredibly sweet and protective where Tennyson is concerned.

I love when a big man falls, and all I can say is…tiimmmbeeerrr.

Naima’s writing style is so engaging and down-to-earth, and I just connected with these two, with this situation. This is friends-to-lovers at its best, and if you’re looking for the chemistry to come right off the page and punch you in the face, I guarantee you’ll enjoy every scintillating moment of it!

5 stars!

5 - "You're my world..." Stars!

I love me some Naima Simone, and the second book in her WAGs series delivered everything I expect from this authors contemporary erotic romance writing. Scoring off the Field was a winner from start to finish for me.

"I need to get a life outside of organizing yours… Find my own way. Stand on my own."

It was made pretty obvious in the previous book that Tennyson Clark, had more than just best-friendly feelings for Dom Anderson, so her deciding to step away from her unrequited crush and try to get on with her life doesn’t come as much of a surprise to me in regards to their storyline, what did though was the depth of background the author gave them as characters.

No commitment.
No relationship.
No changes.
Just sex.

It highlighted just how much their connection meant to Dom, and why once he realized he could potentially lose Tenny entirely he was reluctant to do anything but upgrade friendship, to friends-with-benefits, instead of a relationship. Because this is a woman that although he doesn’t even realize it himself at the start, owns him heart and soul.

Other women had preceded her… With her wild passion and innate sensuality, she rendered them forgettable…

Loved this couple together, the steam even when they weren’t getting it on was sauna levels. The author took sass and snark, from them both and layered it with insecurity, past demons and a depth of emotional connection that you fall in love with the idea of them falling love before they do, and even though you know they will eventually get to the finish line in realizing just how good they can be together the author takes you on an un-putdownable ride in the interim.

"Why does getting your own life mean leaving mine..?!

I’m loving this series, I’m dying to know who the author is lining up to give a story to next. Whoever it is, I will be at the front of the queue when it comes to reading it!

Nothing would ever be the same between them… Nothing.

This is the second book I have reviewed by Ms. Simone and I have to say, I like this book much better than the prior one. Holy scorcher, this book is definitely a touchdown! ( And that is definitely the end of my football analogies since I am not a football fan. However, this book is hilarious and sexy at the same time and that balance can be hard to achieve. A heartfelt brava to Ms. Simone!

Tennyson Clark is quarterback Dominic Anderson assistant and longtime friend, she also has secretly been in love with him for years. She’s finally realized the handsome playboy will always look out for her but she’ll be stuck in the BFF zone for ever and has to move on and a new job is in the cards with perhaps a little online dating.
Dom is not sure how he feels about Tenny’s news, she has always been there with him, and the thought of her dating another man turns his stomach.
Dom and Tenny make a great couple, everyone around them see it, but Tenny’s not waiting around for him any longer and Dom’s not a relationship kind of guy anyway.
They finally do try to have a little fun, a friends with benefits kind of thing. Dom likes this arrangement but when Tenny continues to look for a new job he’s not happy.
I liked this story very much. It was full of fun and snappy dialogue, there was plenty of giggles and laughs to be had. Tenny was a determined young woman, tired of waiting for her love to notice her in the same way. And Dom was a good guy really, he cared for Tenny, he just needed a boot in the butt to push him in the right direction.
Tenny reached out and Dom pushed and pulled, both struggling for happiness.
I highly recommend this book!

Scoring Off the Field, by Naima Simone is a passionate contemporary romance story.

Tennyson Clark has been in love with Dominic Anderson for years. However, he only treats her like a little sister and frequently dates other women. In order to reestablish her own life separate from Dominic, Tennyson has decided to quit her job as Dominic's assistant and apply for a job in another state.

Despite their best friend status, Tennyson is ready to move on and try to overcome her unrequited love. Yet, Dominic isn't willing to lose her. They have been best friends since their years together in a foster home. Due to previous experiences, Dominic doesn't believe that love and football can work out, since he has to be fully focused on his job a the star quarterback for the Washington Warriors. However, Dominic is willing to try acting on lust, instead of love, with Tennyson.

Even though it's the second book in the WAGS series, it may be read as a standalone. However, it's recommended to start with the first book, Scoring with the Wrong Twin.

Scoring Off the Field is geared towards those who prefer amorous contemporary romance books.

***5 Stars***

There were a few factors that came into play when it came to this book.
1) The Cover. It’s hot. Plain and simple.
2) I’m kind of a sucker for the friends to lovers trope.
3) An author I stal..*cough* follow was giving out much praise for the first book in the series (which I have not read...yet).

So with all of that thrown into the mix I decided I NEEDED to get my hands on this one and I DEVOURED it.

I did.

I did the whole “I’ll just take a tinsy peek at it” *clears throat* got totally invested and had to do the #phoneappthing because that #workthing needed to get done, so...I finished it in a couple hours total because I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what would happen next between Tennyson (love the name btw) and Dom and didn’t want anything to happen without me (I know. I know, but no one said logic played into things) and lemme just say these two took my on a ride, but I enjoyed every sweet, smexy, heartbreaking and frustrating moment right up until there were no more words to read.

Dom is focused. Like OMG tunnel vision focused and while it was Gibbs smack inducing frustrating, I understood why he was so adamant about sticking to his plan and couldn’t really fault him because his heart was in the right place. Tenny was sweet, sassy and would be someone I’d love to have in my squad, though there were would be a few things she’d be restricted from. Her past broke my heart, but I loved how she not only wanted to be more than her past, but also wanted to make a difference because of it.

It was hard NOT to get caught up in all that was going on between Tenny and Dom because it was so easy to see how good they were together. Their shared past gave them that special bond that not many find, but it was also made it difficult for Dom to see Tenny as anything but a friend. While the angst was relatively low, it was there and always simmering between them as things between them heated up, and when they finally hit the boiling point, it was all kinds of smexy, but brought about more bumps in the road for them to traverse. As much as I loved Dom, I was definitely Team Tennyson ~ even when I knew her some of her choice wouldn’t end well, I still backed her. And when they hit the huge sinkhole in their journey, it wasn’t a surprise, but it was harsh. Thankfully the grovelling was done quite well and the epilogue was all it should be.

I’m very happy I took a chance because this book was a lot of fun to read. The writing was engaging, the pacing was good and I enjoyed the dual 3rd person POV a lot. Even though this is the second book in the series and you meet the couple from the first one, it can be read as a standalone, though I am hoping to make a hole in my TBR list to get to that one sooner rather than later. I really liked all of the secondary characters, but Ronin is my favorite of the bunch and cannot wait for his book. But no matter whose book is next, I’ll definitely be looking to get my hands on it!

I received an arc for review from NG.

I had high hopes with this story. It is the first book I have ever read by this author and I liked the premise but not so much having to read the specifics. I LOVe friends to lovers stories and I love PA and football player stories/romances. But this one seemed a little one sided and torturous and that just stopped my enjoyment. I don't read romance for pain, I read it for joy, fun and romance and this story did not have that.

For one I never felt the attraction between Tennyson and Dom. The two were foster kids together and Dom always took care of Tenny. So much that he hired her as his PA several years before. Now Tenny is ready to quit after seeing Dom with a one nighter one time too many. And I applaud that.

She has been in love with him for YEARS and she not only had to see him with a college girlfriend who broke his heart but buy gifts for his one night stands and see them over and over again. This story made it seem extremely painful for Tenny and I had reading about her pain.

Dom is clueless. Even after Tenny admits her feeling he goes back to hurting her with one night stands and then she quits, he gives her a hard time too. To be honest I would have hated him rather than loved him so I just didnt see the romance here.

I really didn't enjoy this story and the storyline.

A story about two friends who found each other in the foster care system when they where children. Now their grown up and Tennyson wants to create a life on her own, away from her best friend Dominic who she’s been in love with forever.

Here’s what I like about this story
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* A lot of dialogues
* Okay storyline
* Good characters descriptions
* Emotional, hot and sweet love scenes
* At times there were some very witty comments and sentences that made me laugh
* It was also bits that made me tear up and feel emotional
* The connection between the main characters was very clear from the beginning

However, what I didn’t like was that the descriptions of Dominic in the beginning. It made me think he was a douche but his reasons (as weird as they seemed in my eyes) for his behaviour was revealed at the end.

Good 4 star read if you’re looking for easy, fun, hot and sweet romance with HEA.

This is book 2 in a series but can be read as a standalone.

5 Star Review Scoring Off The Field (WAGS #2) by Naima Simone

Naima Simone is a relatively new author to me and I have to ask myself why that is. This was a relatively quick read but one that ticked all the boxes for me. This is a friends to lovers story which reeled me in from the first chapter.

Although this is a stand alone, I feel you may get more enjoyment if you were to read the first book in the series prior to reading this one as it will give you an insight into Dom and Tenny’s back story and friendship.

I was intrigued by Tennyson Clark and Dominic Anderson when they were first introduced in the previous book and was looking forward to their story. I was in no way disappointed with Naima Simone writing a story that suited these two perfectly.

Tenny has been in love with Dom for years and working for him has become extremely difficult, therefore she is determined to quit and find another job. Not only is he her boss but he is her best friend; Dom having taken care of her for years.

Dom doesn't really know how he feels about Tenny. All he knows is that the thought of her dating another man is unacceptable.

It is clear to those around them that Dom and Tenny are meant for each other but Dom doesn't do relationships and Tenny is tired of waiting for him to see what he is missing out on.

When they do finally come together it is explosive and powerful and yet Dom still cannot see the wood for the trees. When Tenny continues to apply for jobs back in their home town, Dom decides a little sabotage is in order.

I really loved Tenny, what a strong and determined woman she is. It is at times an emotional roller coaster filled with angst that had me heart pounding at times. Dom had his head buried on the sand way to much but overall I did like him. I felt for both Dom and Tenny as they struggled to reach their happily ever after.

I look forward to more in the series.

Where there's smoke..... there's Naima! Could this be any hotter? Naima does it again. I loved this book in the best freaking way! Welcome to the off kilter world of Dominic and Tennyson. (just the names slayed me). Gah! The Washington Warriors men! Hold onto your undies girls.
Dom and Tenny go way back to childhood. Foster care together and Dom has made it his life's work to pretty much look out for Tenny. When Dom gets adopted by a family, the father a football coach, Dom's future is written. It's the best ride, reading their backstory throughout the book which we get when Tenny tells Dom she's quitting her job as his PA/personal manager/ cook when she's upset and all around cleaner upper. Oh how I loved this woman. Tennyson is all woman, she's got the curves and backside to prove it. She does everything for Dom and she needs to start putting her college degree to use. She's been his right arm for years and wants a change. She's a smart girl, a smart girl who also knows that Dom will never see her as anything other than a sister/ friend/ appendage. Joined at the hip these two. I loved them. When Tenny gets stressed she cooks. I loved this girl! These days she's spending a lot of time in the kitchen. But I loved how Dom would try to get her to talk to him, but what can she. You can see her wheels turning, hear her thoughts. So well written.
When Dom realizes she's serious he panics, then goes into a pout, downshifts right into I'm angry and back into pouting some more and then sabotage. Hey why not right? He's got the ear of his best friends. Zeph who we met in book one now happily in a relationship with Sophia, Ronin and Coach Declan too. Their relationship takes a wickedly smoking curve and Dom thinks they're good. Tenny thinks their good too. Until ... read the book! Tenny meanwhile has decided to apply for jobs back in Dayton, where they're from. Knowing it will be too hard to stay in Seattle. That sends Dom into a tailspin, his game suffers and damn the boy is dumb. He even misses Josephine's hints about he and Tenny.
This book has the most delicious dips and curves and breath holding moments and damn if Dom doesn't win the award of the year for the densest man alive! Holy Pete, the man is slow out of the gate. But when the bulb comes on, he steps it up and takes action! I loved this book, I can't say it enough. I have a favorite Naima book, but this one may nudge the other over just a bit. Can't wait for the next book!
There just aren't enough stars for this one. Naima girl, you have truly outdone yourself!

This is the second book of the WAGS series, and I absolutely loved it! It was better than the first, which was a difficult task to accomplish! Dom and Tenny were such realistic characters. Their closeness pulled me in, and the hope for their happily ever after ending kept me so engaged, I couldn't put the book down. I absolutely can't wait to read the next book!! Thanks Ms. Simone for such a wonderful read!

I enjoyed the premise of this book. The heroine, Tennyson Clark, and hero, Dominic Anderson, met as foster children and became best friends. Both had suffered tragically in their childhoods and their friendship means everything to both. Dom grew up to be a star professional quarterback and he’s brought Tenny along with him. We’re told that he paid for her to get a college and graduate degree in social work. But now she’s working for him as his personal assistant.

She’s in love with him, but fears that he will never want anything to interfere with their friendship. So she’s planning to move on and away from him so she can make her own life. But the thought of her leaving messes with his head and he has to realize that she is the perfect woman for him, yadda, yadda.

I just never bought the premise. Why would he support her getting two college degrees but not support her to get a job in her chosen field and instead employ her for years in a dead-end job taking care of his appointments? Why did she put up with that? She got the degrees and is interested in social work. She just seems like she’s been too much of a doormat for years. Apart from each other, they were likeable characters and Dom’s protectiveness and love for her is touching, but his indifference to what would be best for her were irritating.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Friends to lovers is sometimes hit or miss for me, depending on the scenario. Often there's so much angst, it hurts me to read it, and I have to be in the mood for that. This one definitely had angst, but it was so honest and heartfelt, and I loved every minute of it, even when it hurt.

Tennyson Clark is in love with her best friend. She has been since she was 16 years old, but how do you tell the only person in your life who's ever taken care of you such a thing? Especially when you know how it will end up for you. You don't tell him. Ever. Tenny has known Dom since they were kids in the foster care system growing up in Dayton, Ohio. Tenny's mom had Munchhausen by proxy, which means she sought attention and validation by making Tenny sick as a kid. As a result, Tenny was placed in foster care when she was 11 years old. It also made her terrified of hospitals. When she met Dom in her first foster home, when he was 14, they clung to each other, and Dom has taken care of her ever since. When he was drafted into the NFL, and was chosen to play for Seattle, he brought her with him. He helped pay for her college, and then he made her his personal assistant. But, Tenny has grown to realize that Dom can never love her the way she needs, and so she's determined to move on with her life. First step, quitting as his PA.

Dominic Anderson had a fantastic life, until his parents were killed in a car accident, and he ended up in foster care. Football was a way out for him, and for his best friend Tennyson. He was determined to take care of her immediately after they met, and he has. Football is his life, though, and it has to come first. So, he doesn't do relationships. Just a long line of one night stands with forgettable faces and names. Tenny is the only constant in his life besides football, and he counts on her to run his life as his PA. When she announces she's quitting, it catches him off guard and he can't understand why she wants to leave him. He has no idea about her feelings, as she's taken great pains to never let him know. So, he's determined to get her to change her mind about leaving.

This book was heartbreaking to read, as someone who can totally identify with Tenny's dilemma. She loves Dom and she has put him and his happiness above her own for so many years, because she felt she owed him for how he's cared for her all these years. But, she comes to realize that it's killing her, and she can't keep it up. She has to change the situation, and put herself first finally, before she shatters apart for good. But, they know each other so well, and can see so much, she has to go about it in a way that doesn't raise Dom's suspicions. She can't stand for him to know about her feelings, when she knows they won't be reciprocated, and so she figures out another way. But, best laid plans don't always work out.

Watching both of them come to terms with their feelings for each other, and what they mean for their future was so hard, but also heartfelt and honest. They both have major baggage from their childhood, and the ways they chose to deal with that baggage differed, but were equally problematic. Dom slept around, and Tenny put her own life on hold to cater to Dom. They both had to learn better, more constructive behaviors, and to figure out if their lives could still work if they were together in a different way than they had been in the past.

This book was different than I thought it would be, because this wasn't your typical friends to lovers story. The history between the characters was so much longer and deeper than you typically see in this trope, and I loved watching them carefully navigate their issues. I fell hard for both of these characters, both individually and as a couple. I also love all the side characters in this series, and I cannot wait to find out who the next book will be about. There are a few options, and I'm so excited to see what's next.

I highly recommend this story, as well as book 1 in this series, which was also 5 stars for me. They are steamy, sexy, fun, sports romance, but somehow they are so much more than that too. I'm a new fan of this author, but I'm a big one!

A sports story where the focus was less on the sport of football, then on the relationship between Dom and Tennyson. Their chemistry is palpable, their story heartbreaking and at the same time heartwarming. The author's depiction of this couple and their deep need for one another was written so well that their emotions were tangible and felt so lifelike to me.

I hope there's more to this series upcoming.

4.5 STARS!!!!
Scoring off the Field was such a great friends to lovers sports romance read. This is the first book I've read from this author and I enjoyed it a lot. I actually look forward to reading the first book in the WAGS series. The characters were enjoyable; both the side and main characters. I absolutely loved Tennyson and Dom. Tennyson was a woman in need and Dom was exactly what she wanted. The chemistry between them was off the charts. I felt every emotion between the two while reading this story and absolutely loved it. The moment Dom showed Tennyson the interview he did, I absolutely fell in love with him more. He put his heart out there and all I was thinking was "about darn time" I highly recommend this book to readers looking for a great childhood friends to lovers romance read that will have you hooked from beginning to end. I definitely look forward to no only reading the other books in this series but all of this authors book. This is a standalone read.

I loved Dom and Tenny's story!! Though there were a few times when I wanted to knock Dom upside his thick head for not seeing the prize right in front of him...lol, However, he had redeemed himself by the end. But in between that there was lots of chemistry and steam between those two, definitely enough to light up Times Square.. lol. It was also nice to see Zeph and Sophia, even if only briefly once again. What can I say?I thoroughly loved this book! I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
