I write this review with coffee in hand and sleepy eyes because I pulled a very late night to finish this gem! From the first few words I was hooked. It normally takes me a few chapters to get into the grove but I was invested in Piper and Blake from the very beginning. Trouble Brewing is a light easy read, not complex but also not lacking in drama and a web of characters and plot turns. I would say that I wasn’t surprised by the ending and smiled as I finished the epilogue. The characters were fun, I want to sit in Blake’s gastro-pub and have a Piper brewed beer. The chapters switched between the voice of Piper and the voice of Blake and after I got the hang of verifying who was speaking, I enjoyed the differing view points as it made me appreciate each main character as their own person.

Strong independent female lead, love, hurt, frustration, life changing decisions, friendship, and anger can all be found in Suzanne Baltsar‘s novel but following one’s passion and knowing that hard work means sacrifice and criticism was the element I enjoyed most.

This is a pretty cute novel about Piper, who is a brewer and Blake, who owns a gastropub. There is a lot of beer-related jargon and banter. It is an easy read. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I thought his was just such a cute book. The best way for me to describe how it made me feel reading it is like how you feel wrapped up in your favorite blanket on a cold day. It was just really cute. I loved the main characters and their friends. The way the author described everyone made me want to sit down and have a beer with them too.

I would recommend this book to anyone that just needs a little escape for a little while.

I requested this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. It is not my normal genre, as I mostly read nonfiction, but it looked fun and cute and I’m a huge fan of craft beer, so I thought I would give it a whirl.

It’s just not the book for me. I’m too much of a beer snob, which made me critical of the mentions of types of beer and methods of brewing. I think someone who has a mild interest in craft beer would be more the audience, as you could maybe learn something new.

The book was indeed fun and cute, and it was interesting how the story was told from both perspectives- guy and girl. Since it’s not my genre, I wasn’t interested in the “will they”, “won’t they” because Spoiler:

They get together at the end. It would have been far more interesting if the main character ended up with one of his friends or better yet, stayed single and still managed to open up her own business. Some kind of twist, rather then ending up with the obvious guy. So, not the book for me, but I do think there’s enough substance for others to enjoy it.

Cute rom-com centered in the food/beverage world - Piper is a craft beer brewer who is working on getting her brews sold in local bars when she meets Blake, owner of The Public, a new hot gastropub in town. Given that this is a rom-com, sparks fly but Piper doesn’t want to mix business and pleasure. Will it be possible for these two to work together without it leading to more?

For those who are fans of Amy Reichert (who isn’t?!), be sure to check out a new voice in this fun genre!

I have been wanting to read this book from the moment I saw comparisons to Amy Reichert's books, and when I saw that Amy Reichert herself gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads, I was absolutely sold. And wonder of wonders, this book truly delivered. I spent nearly 10 great years living in the Twin Cities, and thoroughly enjoyed the setting of this book, with lots of references to popular places in the area. I loved the main character, Piper, and her passion for her craft, and her tough attitude as she fights for her place in a male dominated field. This book was really a lot of fun, and before I was even done, I was hoping for a series featuring some of the other characters in the book. This book is less foodie than Reichert's, but if you're willing to sub beer for food as the main subcharacter, then you'll enjoy this just as much, too.

Trouble Brewing tells us the story of Piper and Blake who are just trying to make it in their dream jobs. Piper has dreamt of becoming a successful beer brewer while Blake is working hard to make his new Gastro Pub a success.

Piper is a characters that can frustrate you and make you root for all at the same time. She is extremely independent and strong as well. She is a woman who wants no outside help when it comes to her brewery business. At first I I had a hard time with her stubburness when it came to help but With a few things that took places, I began to understand her way of thinking. I really grew t enjoy her character.

Blake comes from money and is suppose to be going into the family business, when he decides to follow his own dream. The Gastro Pub is his baby. He’s worked hard too. But going against your family has it’s down side for him. I have to say that I really enjoy him, he was genuinely a good guy and was quite smitten with Piper from the start.

It was apparent from the start that these two have some chemistry from their first interaction. But of course Piper wasn’t having it at first. She was so determined to make it on her own. She wanted people to love her beer and not think that she got where she was because of a relationship with an owner. I could completely understand that! She offered a dream job though, so I was curious to see if she would take and walk away from her current business and the sweet little romance blooming between Blake and her. Plus, I wondered if she would ever give in to her feelings too. Now were plenty of bumps along before we get to the end, from the family to other brewers interfering. But it just made this even better seeing how these two would handle what life had to throw at them.

I have to say a little something about the secondary characters, Bear and Connor of course were always there for Blake. And best friend Sonja, wow was she a feisty one but ever supportive and protective of Piper. To me these characters really didn’t feel like they were side characters. They all had their parts in this story and were such a great addition. Plus the slow burning romance between two of them was too. Overall, this turned out to be such a sweet romance and fans of the genre will hopefully enjoy it as much as I did.

Piper Williams is a female beer brewer in a world dominated by men. Blake Reed is an attorney turned pub owner with a Senator for a father. When Blake introduces Piper's beers to his menu he's opening up a lot more than a business relationship.

If you're looking for a sweet romance with closed door bedroom scenes, Trouble Brewing should hit the spot. Just make sure you have a beer nearby while you read. You'll be craving one.

Thank you to Gallery Books for the free review copy. All opinions are my own.

I loved this book. I was instantly drawn in by Piper's character. I love that she is a brewer and crosses the gender barriers of this career. I think that her being in this situation helped create a complex, dynamic character that fought for what she truly wanted and believed in. I enjoyed her tenacity. She didn't let anyone get in the way of her dreams.

The romance between her and Blake was extremely enjoyable. I loved the Gilmore Girl references throughout this book. This relationship also showed what it means to be with someone that truly loves and cares for the person. Of course with Piper being a brewer and Blake a bar owner, there are lots of beer and food references. I think that adds to the uniqueness of this book.

With Blake, though, I found myself wanting more glimpses into his life. The chapters are from Piper and Blake's POV, and there are more Piper chapters. I wanted more of Blake at the end of the book. I wanted to read about the confrontation that happened and not be told about it after the fact. His parts are still great in showing the reader the development  of the relationship through his eyes.

Reading the description of Trouble Brewing I knew it was going to be a great book. The fact it was about brewing made me even more excited to read it. My brother is a brewer and it is a very male dominated career, reading a book where a women was fighting the battle of this career was exciting to me. After reading a few pages I was instantly hooked and invested in Piper’s life. I rooted for her beers and hated BeerasuarusRex when he left his review. The story was a little predictable where you know the boy and girl will get together by the end and live happily ever after. But following their journey from friends into love was fun and made me miss being in a young relationship like that. I loved that the author goes between Piper and Blake, sharing each of their perspectives on their life and journey. The author also does a great job of going into just the right amount of detail but stopping before it gets to explicit. She shares just enough to get your mind going off into a lust-filled dream. If you looking for a quick, fun, sweet and quirky, girl power book- this is one for you to read.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Piper is a brewmaster in a male dominated world. Blake is an owner of the new gastropub in town. Romance ensues with a side of beer. I thought this was a cute, charming book. I ended up really liking this book and finished it in a couple of days. I don't read a ton of romance novels but I liked the story description. As mentioned in someone else's review this romance isn't hot and steamy, it is more sweet and funny.

I enjoyed the supporting characters as much as I enjoyed the main characters. I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 stars because I didn't really believe Blake's parents. They and the sister were just obnoxious and forced but they were about 5%of the book.

Choose this book if you are looking for a quick, sweet read that might teach you something about beer. By no means is it an encyclopedia on brewing but they have several tidbits thrown in that the average reader wouldn't know. Overall this book is a sweet, charming read. I feel like this book could easily turn into a Hallmark Movie.

A good debut novel - maybe a series? I want to know more about Piper, Blake and their friends! A fun, light-hearted romance story - just what I needed after reading several murder mysteries and thrillers!!

Thank you #netgalley and #gallerybooks for this eARC.

This is a fine "When will they get together?" romance. The characters are likable and I liked that the chapters alternate between the viewpoints of the two main characters. There isn't much plot beyond the love story, so it didn't hold my attention, but you'll enjoy it if all you're looking for is a good love story.

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC. I loved the character, Piper. Strong woman in a man's world. Piper gets a once in a lifetime offer. She has to choose love or following her lifelong dreams. Definitely recommend!

Blake Reed's long-dreamed of gastropub is almost ready to open, and he's eager to put some local craft brews on his taps. This time, the brews win him over -- and so does the brewer, Piper Williams. She's got her work cut out for her in the craft beer industry, because it all men, and she has to show them she knows her stuff. This is the one reason she can't give in to liking Blake, even though he is a "tall drink of water" himself. Her reputation has to be built on her beer and her craft. And if he can't understand that, it will only lead to problems. This is Piper's dream she's building!

The story is character-driven, with enough dimensionality to keep interest. It was easy to picture as a mental movie, and while I had my throat in my heart several times in the story, I was pleased with the denouement.

READ THIS BOOK. It's a satisfying read.
