When We Found Home takes us through the emotional story of three siblings. They never know the other existed, but are brought together at the request of their Grandfather.

After the death of Alberto Carlesso’s son he learns that he two other children out there somewhere. Of course Alberto stars searching for them, he first finds Keira, a 12 years old, who hasn’t had the best life. Callie, the other granddaughter Callie hasn’t had it much better. Keira and Callie hit if off right away, but Malcolm not so much.

Malcolm was a stoic man, all business. That is until he meets Delaney, who happens to be the barista that he sees as his normal daily visit to the coffee shop. I think she might exactly what he needs too. She’s just as intrigued by him as he is of her.

Now as for the younger sister, Keira, she is a spunky kid and I just adored her, and I felt bad for her when it came to her and Malcolm. She’s just a kid and Malcolm has no idea how to be around her or even talk to her. I have to admit, I really enjoyed Callie, she grown and been through hell and back. Trust is an issues for her. She isn’t used the luxurious life that Macolm has grown up in. They butt heads a lot, but what sibling don’t. Mine sure do.

There is a lot of little stories from all three of the sliblings, and the company that the Carlesso family owns. A little bit of romance was in the air too. I enjoyed the growth this family went through, it was always easy but it was so sweet and inspiring at the same time. I just kept rooting for them all to get that happiness they so dearly deserved.

When We Found Home was such a beautiful story of family, second chances and a little bit of sweet romance.

It isn't every day that I'll read a book in one sitting. For me, it hasn't been that way in such a long time. I felt like I was about to get into a reading rut. It happens when I've been reading a string of great books - eventually, the hangover will occur. Before When We Found Home by Susan Mallery, I picked up and started several books. If only you could have seen that list, it amassed into a lengthy list. It wasn't that I didn't like those books, it just wasn't the right time for me to read them.

I have been a fan of Susan Mallery for a long time. Like my love for Nora Roberts, I'll turn to Mallery for feel-good stories with a touch of romance. Before When We Found Home was just the case.

This story is about three half-siblings that are joined together as a family unit by one grandfather righting the wrongs of his son. They all came from different walks of life, now found with an instant-family, instant-wealth, but not necessarily instant-security. For Malcom, Callie, and Keira, they each came to terms with their new status, in a thriving family business, in their own way.

Malcom is the broody oldest son. He has been with grandfather Alfredo the longest, but also feels the most loyal. He would do anything for him and the family business, even if that blindsides him with the other aspects of his life.

Callie is the newest member to join the family, but I feel is the strongest. Throughout this story, regardless of her past, she has more insight and intelligence than the others. I connected the most to her, and she was my favorite.

Keira is the youngest, at only 12. My heart broke for her the most. Her past really did a number on her, and it was heart-breaking reading about all her troubles and emotions towards her family.

Mallery put together this cast to symbolize that family isn't always who you choose, but loving people that you can trust is everything. I loved their stories individually, but especially enjoyed their path to becoming a solid unit.

I’ve read a lot of Susan Mallery novels and I liked this novel better than her Fool’s Gold series which had gotten a bit repetitive and just too unrealistic. This story had better developed characters who grow over the course of the novel.

The theme here is siblings who just met each other finding out what being part of a family means. The three siblings share a father who didn’t care at all about the children he fathered, but his father did. The grandfather, when he found out about his grandchildren brought them all together to live with him in Seattle. It helps that he’s extremely wealthy and has an internationally successful business that they will all get a share of. The oldest, Malcolm, is the CEO of the business and he falls for Delaney who serves coffee in the lobby of his building. He doesn’t know how to relate to his 12-year old half-sister who is having trouble adapting to her new situation. The other newcomer to the family, Callie, is trying to build a life after having made a mistake as a teenager that landed her in prison and a felony on her record.

Now that all this good luck of suddenly finding herself with a new family and wealth that she can barely understand, Callie also has trouble accepting her new situation. But she loves her brand new little sister. She also attracts the attention of Malcolm’s best friend, the hunky Santiago, who falls for her at one glance.

All these characters have to work through their new relationships and situations. I enjoyed following their paths, but the romances that developed seemed a bit too quick. Santiago takes one look at Callie and decides she is the one for him. She’s a strong and admirable character, but there is no way that he could have known that when he met her. He was just a bit too good to be true and that detracted from the portrayal of their relationship. But, otherwise, the story was very enjoyable.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

A very interesting twist in this storyline of 3 half siblings being brought together by their paternal grandfather and how they end up relating not only to each other, but in relationships with friends and significant others. The multi-layered plot lines of the individual siblings and how the storylines intertwined was quite interesting and entertaining. I couldn't put the book down and ended up reading it throughout the night!

This is a wonderful book about love and family. My emotions got a good workout in this beautifully written story.
Sometimes a family grows in the most unexpected ways and they let it, it can all of their hearts with so much contentment, peace, love and joy. This is a book about just that and I highly recommend it.

This is a great book with a wonderful, heartfelt story. It is a second chance story with a bit of a twist. If you are a fan of Susan Mallery this is a must read. If you have never read her books this is a good one to begin with.

Sweet story of an adult child finding she has siblings she never knew. I love "found family" stories but I have to say that Callie really got on my nerves. I never warmed up to her. The rest of the characters are solidly written, as one would expect from Susan Mallery.

Susan Mallery has again found a way to entertain us and draw us into the world she created. I love how she embraces family in this book. Alberto finds out that he has two granddaughters that he never knew about after his son’s death. After having Callie & Keira locates and movedcto his family home they have to learn to co-exist with their brother, Malcolm. Callie & Keira instantly like each other despite their age difference but it is harder for Malcolm to learn how to handle a 12 year old, Keira and how to trust Callie . A mistake Callie made in her youth plays a big part in this . Callie falls for Santiago when she meets him working in the family business but fears her secret past will ruin their relationship . Malcolm learns how to love his sisters while also falling for Delaney, who is learning how to become her own person.

Susan Mallery made me cry. I don't usually like books that make me cry, but When We Found Home is the exception. The characters are developed so well and are so believable, all readers would be hard pressed not to get lost in the story. The best treat is that readers are taken on multiple journeys through several intertwined characters; it's like getting two-three stories in one book. And with so much going on, Mallery somehow makes it work with ease.

Malcolm, Callie, and Keira are a new family. Half-siblings brought together by their grandfather. All three share a father and had no idea the others existed. They each have their own issues from growing up, and are thrown together in a house. It's not easy becoming a family just like that. They all discover it takes hard work and trust to make it work and heal together.

Malcolm and Callie are the adult half-siblings and each develop a romantic relationship with other people. Malcolm finds Delaney and Callie finds Santiago. While trying to become a family in their own home, these relationships bring to it additional layers of complication which end up helping them all find the trust needed to all become a family.

This is the story of three half siblings, all sharing the same roving salesman father, as they are brought together by their elderly grandfather. I admit to previously reading Susan Mallery's earlier books and not particularly caring for them, so I haven't read anything by her in years. However, this sounded so good so I gave it a shot and am so happy I did! I absolutely loved the interaction between the three siblings finding their way with each other, and finding love. (Except for Keira who was 12, but wouldn't that be a great follow up when she grows up?). I would recommend this book to readers of all genres, it was just an all around good story.

Susan Mallery did it again! The characters in When We Found Home are complex and unique. I especially loved feisty Kiera and slow to trust Callie. The plot with its many intertwined stories kept me up reading until the wee hours of the morning. This was a very enjoyable romantic read.

Susan Mallery's books are generally hit or miss for me--and there have been plenty of misses--but this one was a hit. Callie, Malcolm and Keira are all the children of single mothers, and all the children of a single man who left those mothers. Malcolm learned about his father when he was young--he and his mom moved in with his grandfather shortly before his mother died. The girls never knew their father, and their grandfather learned about them while going through his late son's papers. The grandfather hunted down these two girls (whose mothers had both died) and brings them home to the family mansion, giving them a lifestyle unlike any they had previously lived.

Rags to riches stories are always fun and this one was no exception. Keira had been in foster care, and before that, with a mother who really wasn't there for her. Callie got in with the wrong crowd in high school and instead of going to graduation she ended up in prison. She had been out for a while when her grandfather found her, but like many ex-cons was having a rough time of it. Now they are living in the lap of luxury and having a hard time adjusting to it.

The strength of this book is the characters--the grandfather who wants to know his grandkids, even if his son didn't want them. The ex-con whose heart has been hardened, only to have it softened by a girl who needs love. The girl who was taken out of foster care and given a suite of rooms, an allowance and a private school education. The young man who knows how to grow a company, but needs help in matters of the heart.

Susan Mallory is one of my go-to authors for whenever I'm in the mood to read a really good contemporary romance, filled with emotion and a bit of humor. Although I did get those ingredients in When We Found Home, this one didn't rate up there with some of the others.

I absolutely loved the characters Kiera and Callie. Kiera is a twelve-year-old girl who was living in foster care when it was discovered that she was the granddaughter of Alberto Alfresco, the very wealthy but very lovable old man who had been searching for his son's illegitimate daughters. Many years earlier he had been introduced to his grandson Malcolm who had come to live with him and it wasn't until after his son's death that he realized that his son had fathered two additional children. Kiera is a spunky, out-spoken girl on the edge of becoming a teenager. When Callie, the older granddaughter, was located and invited to come to Seattle to be a part of their family, Callie and Kiera hit it off immediately. It took a while, however for their brother Malcolm to mellow out and learn how to be a brother.

I couldn't quite grasp Delaney Holbrook's character because she changed so frequently and couldn't seem to make up her mind what she wanted. I get it that she had undergone some emotional trauma a while back, but her wishy-washy attitude started getting on my nerves. Just as I was starting to like Malcolm, she pretty much threw a sledgehammer at his heart.

The story line was interesting and shared a whole new light on dysfunctional families. And it was interesting to see how this author handled Callie's rocky past. There were times that I wanted to stand up and cheer for Callie and how she handled situations.

All in all, it was a good story. A bit repetitive at times, and not my favorite of Susan Mallory's books, but still a good story.

Alberto Carlesso’s son Jerry wasn’t much of a Father. Malcolm was ignored by his Father and raised by his Grandfather, Alberto, after his Mother’s death. When going thru papers Jerry passed away Alberto finds out there are 2 other children that were abandoned, a 12 year old girl and an adult woman. Alberto finds them and brings them to the family home. Both girls are having a hard time adjusting to their new life. They haven’t had an easy time and are reluctant to trust.

This is a heartwarming story about a broken family and how they come to love each other. There are also 2 romances in this book. I really enjoyed this book and I loved the characters. The family was very relatable and I was rooting for the couples to get their happy ending. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

What a great story. Susan Mallery just gets better and better. The whole family dynamic was a great fit and the romance was spot on. It had a perfect blend of crisis and love.

FABULOUS! Mallery does it again. When We Found Home was original and while it has some of the same themes as her Mischief Bay series, it was leaps and bounds better. All 3 main characters were given the chance to truly develop and grow. and start on their HEAs. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope that we get a follow up from Mallery very soon!!

Wonderful story about family ties. Well developed characters and realistic dialogue. It pulled me in and kept my attention so that I read it through in one day. I really loved it. A complicated but sweetly romantic tale with love of family at the heart of it.

A sweet and heart warming tale of two couples and a fractured family healing after the desertion of a heartless father.
Alberto Carlessa was stunned, but welcoming, when a young woman showed up at his door with a twelve year old boy declaring him to be his grandson. He welcomed him, even though his son denied paternity. The woman gladly submitted their DNA and proved to Alberta's delight he was indeed his grandson.
Fast forward to two years after his son's death and Alberto finds out there are two more.....girls..one grown and a twelve year old. He brings them to his home to live and learns how hard their life has been and sets about giving them home and security.
The grandson, Malcolm, is intrigued by a barista in his grandfather's building and gets close to her after she helps his younger sister Keira.
Both girls have lead a hellish life and Callie's has instilled a deep distrust, due to childhood mistakes and their heavy toll, but she finds a love interest in her half-brother's friend, Santiago.
Ms. Mallery weaves a tale with family interactions, angst, humor, romance and second chances, drawing the reader in to care deeply for the family trying so hard to heal.
I requested this magical tale from NetGalley and plan to buy several copies as presents soon.
