About time this genre of music got the recognition it deserves. A must read for those who want to understand the historical context of bluegrass.

This was a wonderful read for anyone with an interest in traditional music, especially bluegrass. It was great to hear the perspective of someone who was in the middle of one of the most interesting time periods of that genre, surrounded by all of the important characters.

I love bluegrass, but apparently not enough to enjoy reading about it, at least not in a scholarly fashion. I tried to get into the book, but took to just skimming parts as it just got so bogged down with what to me was trivia about people and places I wasn't familiar with and had little interest in. I am sure there are fans out there who will enjoy this book. It is well written by a witness to it.
