This book has one f-bomb and some vaguely described on-screen sex - nothing explicit or vulgar. If those things bother you, they are both easily skipped over here. This book starts a new series but it completely stands alone.

Then There Was You is such a great example of the “enemies to lovers” theme. Sara and Colton's long and storied past was both really interesting, and incredibly realistic. Their story could have been anyone's story. At first, I frowned at Colton's needling of Sara and how it affected her, and I wondered if Ms. Liasson had finally written a male main character that I wasn't going to swoon over, but I really should have known better. As we got to know him, it was became clear that Colton poked at Sara out of a very strong mixture of attraction, affection, and his own insecurities where she was concerned. Watching him battle those things swayed me right into his camp. Couple all of that with the way that he cared for his sister and his grandmother and I was a goner because there are few things as sexy as a man who unashamedly loves and cares for his family. Sara was likable from the beginning of the story, and I found myself really hoping she'd get a scene where she got to punch Tagg (or Valerie, I wasn't at all picky to be honest) square in the mouth. It was so fun to see her grow stronger and get more self-assured as the book went on. While I wanted her to wind up with Colton in their Happily Ever After, I also had no doubt that she would have been just fine on her own. She might have been heartbroken, but she wasn't broken and I loved that. ***SLIGHT SPOILERS TO END OF THIS PARAGRAPH*** I also really appreciated that Ms. Liasson didn't paint the step-mother as a wicked stepmother stereoytpe. Instead Rachel was kind and sweet and motherly without seeming like she was trying too hard. I absolutely adored her.

The story also had tremendous amounts of humor which balanced out the really emotional parts perfectly. Ms. Liasson's ability to infuse her books with both subtle and laugh out loud types of humor remains a tremendous strength and one of my favorite things about her writing style. I highlighted a ton of passages that stood out to me as moments that I wanted to re-read and chuckle at, one or two that made my eyes water, and one that made me cry.

The foreshadowing for Gabby and Rafe's stories was excellent, and I look forward to reading their books.

If you enjoy a fun book that is a great mixture of a kinda-sorta-second-chance romance and an enemies-to-lovers story, you should definitely read this book. And if you're new to Miranda Liasson's writing, this is a fantastic place to start.

I'm a little behind from being both sick and in the hospital, so I apologize ahead of time. Ms. Liasson is one of my top favorite authors. An amazing writer. One of those few, who, I don't think is capable of writing a bad story. I was first attracted to this book by both being written by Ms. Liasson and 2. The unique cover. Then There Was You is the first book in her brand new, Angel Falls series, set in Angel Falls, Ohio.
I loved both the hero and heroine Dr, Serafina 'Sara' Langdon and Cop, Colton 'Colt' Bentley Walker.
I loved the entire Langdon family. Though it did take me some time to warm up to Dr. Langdon Sr. Sara's father. I did though. I really liked the Step Mom, Rachel. I thought she was a sweetheart, and so good for the family. I loved that she wasn't the cliched' horrible Step Mother. This book touches on Alzheimers, with Sarah's Grandma, so their are some heavier moments. But it's perfectly balanced with lightness, humor, and love. I just love this family. One of my favorite things about Colt, was that not only did he help the Langdon's look after Grandma, but he also took care of his own Grandma and teenage sister. Made him even hotter. More likable. I loved his sister Hannah and his Grandma too..I loved every one of Sarah's siblings, and I look forward to them getting their own HEA.

A cute little romance, although I did have to warm up to the hero.

Four stars: A sweet second chance romance with delightful characters.

Sara is hesitant about returning home to Angel Falls. She is happy to be home to help with her grandmother who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, but she isn’t thrilled to be returning to the place where she was left jilted by her fiancé two days before their wedding. Then to make matters worse, she keeps running into Colton Walker, the police chief, who teased her in high school. As Sara settles in, she begins to see that maybe Colton isn’t who she thought he was, but why should she care? Except there was that one hot kiss. Will Sara find a place to put down her roots?
What I Liked:
*Then There Was You is a different kind of second chance romance because there really wasn’t much of a first romance. I was swept up in the romance, and I adored the characters and the setting. This book is oozing with small town charm and it is cute and cozy, just right for summer reading or whenever you want a pick me up.
*I enjoyed the characters. Sara is a fun main character. She is now a successful doctor returning home, but she carries a lot of insecurity. Deep down inside she is still that nerdy teenage girl with glasses. Her confidence falters because the one man she gave her heart to betrayed her horribly. I liked seeing Sara grow and find her way as she established herself in her father’s medical practice and amongst the town. It is a slow journey, but it was well worth the time. Then there is Colton. Colton had a rough childhood, and he wasn’t always the nicest guy in high school. He has gone above and beyond to make up for his past, especially when it comes to the citizens of Angel Falls. Colton is kind, considerate and he looks after everyone. I especially loved getting in his head to see how he really felt about Sara. I also enjoyed many of the secondary characters in Sara’s family like her stepmother, Rachel, her sister, Gaby, and her adorable Nonna. These characters are fun and genuine and they make you feel right at home.
*The romance is one of stops and starts, going all the way back to high school. It is antagonistic at first as Sara believes that she doesn’t like Colton. It takes a long time to take root and even longer to blossom. When it finally reaches its full potential it is so sweet, well worth the wait. I liked that it started out prickly, then moved into a shaky friendship before it took hold.
*I appreciated the focus on family. Both Sara and Colton are deeply devoted to their families. I loved how both of them looked out for their family members and sacrificed for them. There are some wonderful family moments in this one.
*I have to admit, I didn’t like Tagg at all, especially the more I learned about him. I was pleasantly surprised at the end by his nice gesture.
*The ending is lovely. It ends in a good happy place that will leave you smiling.
And The Not So Much:
*I am hoping that there is going to be another book or two with these characters. I was left wanting to see if Rafe, Sara’s brother, would take that step and ask out Sara’s friend. I also wanted to see Gaby find herself a good man.
*I was curious to know more about Sara’s mom who passed away when Sara was a teen. I wanted to know more about what she was like, and how the girls coped with her passing.
*Nonna is adorable. I would love more of her character just because she is so darn cute.

Then There Was You is a charming romance with fun, likable characters, a cozy setting, strong familial bonds and a cute second chance romance. This was an easy read, perfect for when you want a nice, light romance without drama and angst.
