I tried to get into this, i really did, but the writing was inconsistent and the story uninteresting to me. This is only my opinion though, i would tell others to give it 50 pages and see if they feel differently.

A somewhat isolated rural community's traditions hide dark modern deeds. Eerily atmospheric, reminiscent of Shirley Jackson's work.

Lyrical writing. Beautiful. If I had an endless amount of time, I might be giving this more stars, however, it's just so bogged down in details. Landscape details. Far too slow. And some of the characters and times were confusing (a bit of jumping back and forth).
