Pietro was rich, handsome and sexy and Emmeline had agreed to marry him at her fathers request. She lived a sheltered life and there were reasons her father wanted her married and taken care of. Pietro was a legendary playboy but he fell in love with herbs she felt betrayed by him. This had the makings of a great story, it did have a great ending and I did finish reading it. I just didn't like Pietro very much in the first few chapters, he was a creep.

This one wasn't a favorite of mine and I wouldn't consider particularly memorable. The characters were kind of blah and the story was based on lying which isn't a favorite trope of mine.

Another disappointing HP. This seems to be a trend now and that is disheartening! I absolutely LOATHED Hero who flirts with his ex mistress at his own wedding! Even though there was no cheating, the thoughts & comments by the Hero in the beginning ruined it for me! Why are 99% of romances these days always inserting a manwhore hero? What is so attractive about that? Even though the hero redeems himself towards the end, it still left a bad taste and i couldn't enjoy it.

Her Wedding Night Surrender by Clare Connelly is the story of Pietro and Emmeline.
Emmeline father is dying and he asked Pietro to marry her to keep her safe. Emmeline mother did a number on her that made her feel less than and always lacking so even though her mother has past several years ago, Emmeline still feels the pull of self-doubt. Pietro too has had past issue that keep him from ever wanting to commit to someone but when he good friend and mentor ask that he step forward and marry his daughter to keep her safe is does so. But as they start to get to know each other and start to understand that the other isn't what they first though they were. Feelings start to grow but can they get past their past?
Really enjoyed this book!

The heroine marries hero to please her father; later she finds out of this (plus other important information) and she becomes very angry about all of it. At the beginning, the heroine seems a bit weak given her own personal motives to get marry, but she grows up by the end of the book. The hero is not great, but he does fall for the girl early in the story and tries his best to win her at the end of the book. Overall, it was a good story to pass the time; the characters may not be unforgettable, but they will deliver a good performance and romance readers will not be disappointed. I received a free copy via NetGalley.

3.5 stars
This one was a little weak. The heroine needed to marry the hero to make her father's dying wish come true. She would gain independence financially and socially with the marriage. The hero agrees because he has his own reasons.
Once the heroine finds out a few of those reasons, there's hell to pay....

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The general synopsis of the story is a dying father wants his shelter daughter taken care of when he's gone (he's dying). So he goes to his younger friend of many years with the request that he marry her and watch over his daughter.
This was well written HP with just a few minor issues IMHO.
Pietro, a well off Italian playboy agrees to his dear friends request, as he's dying. He never had any intention of marrying but Col's had been there for him many years ago when his father died and felt he couldn't say no to his dear friend.
Emmeline adored her father and after the horrifying death of her mother she was all he had and he desperately needed her. So she lived a very cocooned and sheltered life ensuring her father was taken care of and happy. Emmeline also had a lot of baggage thanks to her Mommy dearest before she died. Emmeline's mother made sure she down played her beauty as it was competed and took eyes away from her. So after her death she continued in that same vein of living closed off to people.
Pietro and Emmeline marry and at first Emmeline seems weak and timid. She also learns that Pietro makes her feel things physically/sexually and experience things that she thought she was incapable of (this part I found overplayed in the beginning and somewhat cheesy.). Pietro, he comes across as arrogant and a jerk at times. But as the story progresses you find that underneath, buried under years of hurt, Emmeline is a strong and capable young woman. Pietro finds that she's bright, sweet and also spirited. She brings out a side of Pietro he didn't think he had in him, feelings he didn't think he was capable of feeling. Emmeline is determined to live her new life and attend a University for her desired degree. The two slowly let down their guards and give in to their strong attraction. But Pietro has the secret he promised Col, Emmeline's dad, that he wouldn't tell her he's dying. The guilt that Pietro struggles with weigh's heavy on the relationship.
The romance, for me started off a little over the top with Emmeline's "awakening". It evolved into a more mature and satisfying romance after the first chapter or two. It was a very sensual, sweet and romantic read. The ending was emotional and satisfying. Liked the epilogue as well.
