I love Marie Curie, so it's great to see her making another appearance in graphic novel form.

This really felt like two different books. The front section of the novel was a very informative graphic novel with plenty of information about Marie Curie's life told in a simple format. The latter part, by contrast, was a detailed timeline of Marie Curie's life and copies of items relating to her. While the information was fantastic, I'd struggle to know which kids to recommend it to: high readers would be put off reading a graphic novel while low-ability readers would feel intimidated by the timeline.

This is a really informative read about the world renowned scientist Marie Curie. The illustrations really match the time period this is set in. There is also a timeline with all the major events in her line with accompanying pictures. This is accessible for all ages for all those who want to learn more about this amazing woman!

The division between the graphic novel and the historical notes and photographs could have been pulled together for a much more informative and powerful work on Marie Curie. As it was, it felt choppy and boring. I love recommending historical graphic novels as a way to introduce ideas, but I don't feel that this is worthwhile.

The artwork here is OK, but it's the script that is at fault - horrendously clunky and childish exposition from first to last. The inanity of it all means that the poor woman's death - caused, as we all know, by her inquisitive mind and her research - is reduced to just two panels. After that, however, we get a pictorial biography of the subject - clearly the book doesn't even know what it wants to be, but on this evidence I know which half I preferred. It wouldn't be so heinous had I not read a much better graphic novel about the woman only a year or so ago.

This graphic novel gives a very short account of Marie Curie's life and successes. I didn't really like the style of the drawings and the story felt like it was missing out on a lot of important and interesting facts about Marie Curie.
The second half of the novel gives more detailed cliffnotes on her life and offers some photos of her life but this is completely detached from the graphic novel and seems more like an appendix than life an actual part of the story.

A beautifully illustrated graphic novel about the life of Marie Curie. Historically accurate, it follows the life of Curie from a relatively young age, showing her aspirations, achievements, as well as the problems she faced in her work during her life. A recommended read both for graphic novel fans and for science and history enthusiasts.
