Eve has met Gideon and is really happy with the way the relationship is going..... has she met the one at last....... until she meets his mother Marjorie! Marjorie definitely doesn't think that Eve is good enough for her son and so she is determined to get rid of her whatever Gideon thinks!

A great story, I loved the fact that Eve wasnt perfect herself, and there were plenty of twists and turns and a good ending

I loved that this book was not only character driven, but that it kept me guessing as to what secrets would be revealed next. I highly recommend it!

I’ve read other books in this category and it’s always hard to believe how extreme some of those things are. This book isn’t like that. It’s a lot more believable. The story is well written and even though the ending is not entirely unpredictable it is interesting enough to keep reading. Most of the characters are unlikeable but still the plot makes you want to read more. My only issue with the book was the lack of good editing. There are many places where there are run on sentences and too many comma splices that make it annoying at times. They do help establish Eve’s character but it’s still a little annoying.

Does a mother-in-law know what's best for her son? Marjorie does!! Or at least she thinks she does!! One of the funny lines in this book is something like this (its not exact but close to it) "Marjorie would bring her own sheets when she comes to visit because she doesn't like how my sheets feel". That made me laugh out loud!! Talk about manipulation!! Till the very end! Yep that's Marjorie! I was not expecting that ending! Wow! Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this complimentary book. All opinions expressed are my own.

I was thrilled when the author of this book contacted me directly and asked after seeing my review of the other woman if I would like to read a copy of her book which was provided by netgalley, I was thrilled and instantly jamp at the chance of reading this fabulous book which gave me a lot of laughs and gasps along the way, I inhaled it in two days a perfect end to the last two days of my holidays! I loved Eves character I found her hilarious and witty, I nearly had tears rolling down my face at some of her perspectives, eve is dating Gideon who is a professor, his mother Marjorie is quite a possessive old soul and dosen't approve of Eve and Gideons previous relationships she goes out of her way to make eve feel uncomfortable and un welcome. I've mentioned in previous reviews I thoroughly enjoy books to do with family dynamics and I enjoyed the laughs along the way with this book.

This is ultimately an OK read. Not at all my cup of tea, but for lovers of family drama with such keywords as "mother-in-law" or "meeting-his-parents" it was interesting.

As I come from a Theatre background I kept thinking how this story and especially the way it was written would work better on stage. There were places I felt like maybe the next page will uncover a full-blown "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" spectacle between the two parents. But not being a stage gig, the supposed humorous parts actually felt more forced than funny.

Overall, this a perfect summer read for women who're preparing to meet the partner's family (just kidding,....or not, sometimes it's better to laugh about it, right?).

Thank you, NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

wow I didn't see that end coming.

Well written book as it had my attention to the very shocking end. What a great mother n law or so we thought. No one is good enough for her son, no one. Marjorie will do anything to keep any woman away from her son, including Eve. I felt bad for Eve she didn't deserve to be treated like an outsider. This book has twists and turns. Son's are put in these situations and it's a hard decision to choose. I like the characters and I feel I've met a new Author if her books are anything like this book.

Thank you Net Gallery and Thistle Publishing for this crazy read.

I really enjoyed reading this book - it is something a bit different with an interesting plot to keep you guessing.
I am still not sure whether I liked the character of Eve, and am still wondering what she did for a living!
A clever and well written book that I would highly receommend.

I LOVED this book. What a great read. It was interesting, and had those "aha' and "oh no she didn't" moments. This book had me racing to get back to it to continue reading. The format of the book was great, the writing was superb and interesting. This was a light but good read. Do yourself a favor and read this funny book. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.

In-Laws and Outlaws by Kate Fulford
This was a fun read. There were many twists and turns. The main characters ran the gamut from really unlikeable to almost likable. All had their hidden and in son cases not so hidden agendas.
I received a free copy of the book from NetGalley and Thistle Publishing in exchange for my honest review. Thank you.

This book was a nice surprise. The main character isn't pure. She's reminds me a bit of Amy from Gone Girl but she's not that evil. She's very good at manipulation. Her soon-to-be mother-in-law is a great adversary. They were playing mental chess with each other. The end result is a nice surprise. I did find it funny that we never know what the main character's job is.

The writing style of this author made it very difficult to get into this book but I finally finished and wish I had never wasted my time. I have never met a cast of characters that I was so unimpressed with. I would not recommend this book to anyone

I am sorry to say that I did not like this book. The writing style was very irritating, and was really a relentless torrent of verbiage. Written in the first person, every thought, word, or opinion was laid out on page after page. It was as if the author could not stop for breath. I got no real sense of the main character, although the other characters were well enough drawn. I suspect that this style of writing was meant to indicate her 'borderline psychopath' personality, and that certainly worked. The constant barrage of commentary on all her thought processes, with many flippant comments and inconsequential asides made for me, unbearable reading. I skim read from 40%, and I have to say that the ending was just too preposterous, and completely unbelievable. Identical twins are certainly very closely alike, but they are not clones!

No…she is not a monster Mother in Law! Only a self-observed, negative and Uber-egocentric one!

Eve meets her future In-Laws over dinner, and if that isn’t nerve wracking in itself, she does not miss the subtle indescrepencies going on right from the beginning. Her boyfriend Gideon seems to be oblivious. He thinks his mother is amazing!

Over the course of the next few meetings things get increasingly stranger and Eve seeks wisdom from her friend psychologist. Feeling reassured but uneasy, she tries to keep her negative suspicions that her future Mother in Law Marjorie does not like her under wrap.

But then the obvious happens. Not once, but twice…..and Gideon still seems to not put one and one together. But Eve has had enough. She too can play people and stab them in the back! And so, this cozy family drama turns into a little mystery! Could this end deadly? Who knows? Ever had In Laws of such proportions?

***

This was a slow burn kind of read, but I enjoyed it. After about 60% of the book it turns into a sleuth mystery type read. I had thought at so many moments that Eve should just give up….this guy is not worth it. But what she ended up doing and the way things got twisted closer to the end of the book made me race to finish it. I just had to know. So many secrets, so many characters involved, and Eve was playing them like marionettes! I guess Marjory found a match with her daughter In-Law!
Great Read 😊

The writing style didn't work for me--I couldn't get into this and I didn't finish it.
