I would describe this book as a slow burn. We didn’t really get our first “scene” until 25% through, which is a bit of a change from some of the other Misadventures I have read.
Blake is a bit of a wild card. I think that’s one of the best ways to describe her. She’s definitely out there. I didn’t “click” with her at first, so it took me a few chapters to really get into the story. Gavin is more calm and collected.
I really enjoyed Blake’s backstory. It really helped explain her character and her coping methods. I liked the hints that things weren’t as they seemed because it really helped give the story that depth I felt it was missing.
Gavin and Blake are probably the cutest. I love their batty, comedic relationship. I think they both brought out the best in each other. They also helped each other overcome previous obstacles, which is super important in any relationship.
This is a strangers to friends to lovers story that you definitely don’t want to miss. Make sure you check out this Misadventure!

This was my first experience with this series. smart idea and the mix of quirky sort of difficult with artsy and hot guy roped you in

Ok read. Blake kind of got on my nerves, I know she was obnoxious to protect herself, but darn was she inappropriate at times. I wish we got more into Blake’s life, but it was kind of glossed over. Gavin was sweet and I am glad he worked on Blake to break her out of some of her issues and she in return helped him achieve his dreams.
Ok sweet read.

4.25⭐
Whilst Misadventures with My Roommate is not my first Elizabeth Hayley novel, or is certainly my favourite.
As it was fresh, funny, well paced, charming and very enjoyable to read. Not to mention, the two main characters were very likable. Especially Blake, who was not only eccentric, but very charismatic and for me Gavin countered those eccentricities perfectly. And I loved how their relationship developed from coworkers to roommates to lovers.
And with the addition of some great secondary characters. Including Blamed friend Celestial. This particular Misadventures story was definitely worth reading. Therefore, I would happily recommend it to others. Especially if you're in the mood for a fun and light hearted romance.

The Misadventures Series is such a rocking idea! I am reading books of authors’ that are new to me because of this series and I am doing happy dances at finding new people to love! Gavin and Blake are definitely a special couple. I thoroughly enjoyed Blake’s personality and would have liked to seen more of it as the book progressed. This was such a sweet read.

Gavin is the most tolerant, easy going and patient man ever because Blake is not easy to follow. She is outspoken and there is no filter involved when it comes to her. But she has a good heart that has been neglected continuously before. Because of that she has been extremely reluctant to attach herself emotionally to anyone or even recognize that she already has. But her heart is no match for Gavin. He slowly breaks her walls and there is no way he is backing down. She makes him feel alive and gives him a purpose. She gives him the push he needs to have what he has dreamed of and he helps ground her. Gives her a family. They never expected to have a strong connection but it happened and it is beautiful to read.

I really enjoyed this quirky Misadventure story by Elizabeth Hayley. Blade is as quirky as they come. Is she crazy? Definitely! Does she need help? Most would say yes. While she seems completely empty headed with absolutely no filter whatsoever, there is way more to her than meets the eye. It will just take the right person to bring her out of her shell...yes I did say that! She may be way out there, but she is living her life on her own terms without a care in the world but Gavin sees something in her that most don't. He is completely captivated by her and while he never knows what to expect from one minute to the next, he knows being her roommate will definitely be an adventure. Super sexy and a fun read.

Blake is a little... Odd. She lacks a filter, she’s raunchy, and she doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks. She plays by her own rules. Gavin is drifting through life unfulfilled. He wants a life his parents don’t approve of, When they meet at work and both find themselves in need of a roommate, the solution seems obvious.
This is title stands out. Not because it’s full of love, which it is, but because it showcases acceptance. Actual love is devotion to the real person and not an idealized version of him or her. This title has that in spades.

Another amazing book from the epic Misadventures series. In the Misadventures with My Roommate the duo writing team of Elizabeth Hayley gives us a story not only with heat but deals with traumas from the past. Blake is a girl who speaks her mind, some find her weird especially her roommates. Gavin is a college drop out try to accomplish his dreams even if his parents don't believe in them. When these two met its instant sparks both from physical attraction but also personalities. He needs a place, she needs a roommate..... what could happen? This shows what trauma does to a soul but also how love can change you and make you a better person and finally be the real you. This was my first read of this amazing duo and I can't wait to see what amazing adventures and stories they have in them. Misadventures series has open my eyes and my library to so many amazing authors and I can't wait for the next Misadventures.

A good read but not one of my favorites. Blake was an awesome character and I loved how she was who she was take it or leave it. I loved seeing her interactions with the other character and the dynamic between them. I did have trouble enjoying the story because I needed questions answered that didn't come till the end if the book. Maybe one day I'll go back and read it and try enjoy it more or something.

This is the funniest book I have read in a very long time! Like gut-busting, cracking up, other people asking what's so funny. It was just a straight up enjoyable read.
Blake is so different from, well, anyone I've ever read about. Her filter is broken, she's super quirky, has crazy comebacks, and doesn't always think before she acts.
Gavin is her new roomie, and that happened fast, like it was fate. He's way less quirky, but totally just GETS HER. These two mesh well and even help each other grow.
I think Misadventures with My Roommate may be my fave midadventure now. And I am totes planning on reading more by Elizabeth Hayley, hoping their other books are just as entertaining!

I have loved each Misadventure book that I have read but I really enjoyed this one as Blake and Gavin are both dealing with issues and the book focuses on that as much as their other misadventures. During the book we are able to find out why Blake is the way she is, no filter, says what is on her mind. We also learn more about Gavin and his passion for photography. Two people who are thrown together are able to make the best of situations others might not have been able to get past. I would recommend this book to anyone even if they have not read any other Misadventures books

Misadventures with my Room Mate - Elizabeth Hayley
Ive not read anything by Elizabeth Hayley before and requested this book based on the blurb alone but found it a little difficult to get into.
Blake and Gavin’s story took a long time to really come together, though the quirkiness of the main characters and their chemistry together definitely worked.
There were definite highlights to the story and overall it was a pleasant read.
Quite unlike the other standalone in the Misadventures Series so far.
Thank you to Waterhouse Press for the opportunity to review.

This was a quick read, which was good because I don't know if I could have put much more time in reading it. I enjoyed the banter between Blake and almost everyone else she came in contact with, but I felt like we only scratched the surface. Had there been more time spent in Blake's past, her emotional growth, and their relationship I may have enjoyed it a bit more. Instead, this read to me like a guy and girl meet, have sex, and everything works out. I need a bit more substance. But, if you're looking for something quick, this is it.

“Misadventures with My Roommate m” by Elizabeth Hayley
3.5 Stars!
This was a very interesting installment in the Misadventures series.
I enjoy “Roommate” romances and this one was no different. Well, it was different in other ways but I’ll get to that.
Blake has not had the best of luck when it comes to roommates, mostly due to her...eccentricities. So, when her hot co-worker - Gavin - mentions he needs to place to stay, she jumps at the opportunity to offer up her apartment.
I was really intrigued with Blake. She is quirky to say the least, but there was something endearing about her.
Blake didn’t have the best childhood. So for that reason and so many others we discover through the novel, we come to understand her right alongside Gavin.
Now, Gavin was such a sweetheart!
He just had this great personality and lightness, which had Blake coming out of her shell and opening up to him more and more.
Blake and Gavin seemed like they developed a natural and honest friendship, which I liked.
The thing I felt was lacking a little bit for my liking, was a deep romantic connection. I don’t know why, and it could just be me, but I just wasn’t feeling “it”.
All the ingredients were there, but...*shrugs*
That said, I enjoyed this book. It was different from all the other roommate books that I’ve previously read.
I’d say if you like these types of tropes, give it a try!

This one was easy quick read with interesting storyline and characters. Although sweet and funny the story has also depth and some deeper meaning. IN this one Blake is the odd one with her unusualness, strangeness, and directives. She is really something. Gavin is just a normal guy making ends with needs. He accepts Blake like she is and their story is really lovely. I loved that although Blake freaked out about pictures she wasn't stupid enough to really run away and destroy everything but came to Gavin and apologized. They are really great together and have amazing attraction, although everything starts on the physical attraction with time it becomes stronger and deeper.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

The 'Misadventures' continue with this edition from Elizabeth Hayley, a new-to-me author.
Unlike others in this series I initially found it difficult to get into and was probably at 25% before the story gripped me. However, when it did, it wouldn't let go.
I hate to be beaten by a book and I'm so glad I persevered with this!
Never has a story of first love meant so much! Gavin is truly what Blake deserves.
I'll certainly look out for more from Elizabeth Hayley.

The synopsis is what intrigued me about this book and ultimately led me to requesting this ARC on Netgalley. I mean, a main character that has absolutely no filter and is supposedly quirky? That is great banter just waiting to happen! And you all know how much I love great banter between characters. Sadly, I don't think I really got that.
The story follows Blake, a really eccentric (or sociopathic, whichever term you prefer) girl who doesn't have the best luck in the world in regards to roommates. Her lack of a filter and odd personality (to put it nicely) makes her hard to live with. After the sudden departure of her last roommate, Blake decides to give the opposite sex a try. Quickly we are introduced to Gavin, a creative mind who dreams of being a photographer, but spends most of his time doing menial jobs to pay the bills due to his rich family cutting him off. When his last living arrangement falls to pieces, he goes on the search for a new place and a new roommate.
Cue Blake and her no filter, and cue instant chemistry and BAM!
Let the craziness begin.
I gave everything I had to try enjoy this book, I really did. But holy cannoli this book was really hard to get into, for one thing, and the execution to a lot of the story left a lot to be desired.
For starters, I had a hard time relating to Blake-- just for the sole reason that she didn't really have anything going for her besides the no filter and obvious sociopathic tendencies. She says everything that is on her mind with no regard to anyone else's feelings but her own. Some could find this endearing, however, about 90% of the time I found myself uncomfortable reading her dialogue and wished someone or anyone could teach her that not everything that pops into your head should be said aloud. The author explains her behavior is due to a crappy childhood, but the reader isn't informed of this until more than half way through the book and even then I still don't think its a good enough excuse. However, most of the characters, if not all, let it slide due to Blake being attractive. Also, this is not okay in my opinion.
The hero and love interest of the story, Gavin, is anything but interesting. Like Blake, he is very one-dimensional and has about the same amount of personality as a Ford Focus. That is, until near the end of the novel, where we slowly begin to see some form of a characterization begin to peak through.
The novel has components of characters dealing with internal psychological trauma, but throughout the story I was unable to believe the circumstances that the author created revolving that trauma. As a person who hasn't dealt with psych trauma before, I can't accurately judge if this book was a good rep for those who go through that, but as a reader I felt like the author didn't do enough research and this led it to be poorly executed and ultimately a big misrepresentation.
The pace of the novel was at a snail's pace on a good day. We don't find anything out and nothing moves the story forward until just about a little more than half way through the book. Instead of keeping the story and plot going forward and reeling the reader in, the scenes felt stagnant and quite frankly pulled me out of the story. Not even 20% in, and I was checking to see how much I had left.
Like I said, the concept was great, but the execution was terrible. I really wanted to enjoy this book, however, it took 5ever and a day for me to not hate the main characters as much as I did in the beginning and for them to actually show some human emotion that I could relate to. I am firm believer that the characters make the story, but sadly, these characters didn't make the mark.

Received an arc from net galley in exchange for an honest review.
Blake and Gavin are coworkers turned roommates when Gavin is out of a place to live and Blake is out of a roommate. That’s when the fun begins.
They have great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them navigate through this relationship. This book is probably the funniest book I’ve read in the longest time as well. It really hits on all cylinders. Great read and a perfect addition to the Misadventures series.

Found this book to be confusing and difficult to get into so I did not read it. Characters too young and silly for my taste. I think that this book is meant for a younger audience, my mistake in choosing it to review. I chose it because have read other books in this Misadventures series which were very good.
