Great storyline with good strong characters. Very well written. I would recommend this book to anyone.

The premise was what drew me in but unfortunately this book was a little slow for my taste and not that much actually happened. A pleasurable read however. 3.5* from me. My thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for the advance reader copy.

I felt like there was something missing in this book. I think I was expecting more off a climax at the end but instead it was rather dull. A good idea but could have been better. Still enjoyed reading it at the time, just wanted a bit more.

A twisty and gripping psychological thriller. I like books with timeline swaps.. thanks for the Arc.

House Swap is what I would call an atmospheric read. . There are undertones all the way through this book which held .my attention. Well written

A good premise which drew me in to what promised to be a compulsive psychological read. However, for me at least, this did not live up to expectations and became quickly rather tedious and heavy going. I also failed to connect with the characters. Apologies but not for me!

This is a difficult book to review. The concept is very clever - two apparent strangers arrange a house swap but one begins to realise she must be known to the other homeowner. Then it starts to unravel a bit with attempts to introduce peripheral characters who may be involved in the intrigue but don't seem to fit into the story. Then there is the time frame of just one week when a huge amount seems to happen. It is obvious that all will not be as it seems but it takes a long time for the true story to become apparent. During these sections of the book a great deal is said about Francis' problems which becomes quite tedious. I read the book quickly - a combination of wanting to know how it ended and simply wanting it to end. This is another book that could have been so much better with tighter editing.

Caroline and Francis are married with a little boy. After ending an affair, she takes a few too many happy pills to cope. Feeling like a stranger in her own marriage her mind continually turns back to memories of her affair and the person she loved. Her husband struggles to rebuild his trust and seems to be having a breakdown or suffering from depression. As a result, he feels unable to cope with work or the state of his marriage and fights to control the anger building up inside him.
Swapping houses seems the perfect way to have a break and salvage what is left of their relationship even if it is just for the sake of their son. Soon after they settle in Caroline senses someone is watching them and events occur which make her feel someone is trying to make her pay for her sins. Working out who that someone is wont be as easy as you might think. When the life of a her child is threatened she will do anything to save him.
Caroline’s moods and feelings seemed very realistic and honest. I had some sympathy for her, as it would not be easy to make a go of it. Perhaps she made the effort for her sweet little boy?
At first, the storyline felt similar to other books I have read and I soon found out otherwise. This story had a twist which I still fee I should have seen coming.
Full marks for a psychological thriller with a big twist packed with complicated landmines of human emotion. Rebecca Fleet you have written a super first novel and I loved every minute of it.
I cannot thank the publisher and Net galley for the free digital copy of the book in return for an honest review

I couldnt get into this one- thanks for the opportunity- but I couldn't get past 25%

I didn't like the characters

Three and a half star rating.
A house swap, but not the usual run of the mill swap where the only thing to concern you is if anything is broken. Not when the person staying in your home knows more about you than they should, as Caroline discovers when she and Francis arranged a little holiday. A slow burner this one, but did heat up nicely, as secrets were revealed. It was a well written, easy to read domestic drama/thriller even if the characters were not too likeable and some were a bit on the strange side. Maybe could have been a bit shorter, especially the Francis sections who was a bit of a bore. If nothing else, this book might make people think twice about letting strangers stay in their homes!

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the book in exchange for an honest review.
At first the book seems to be about an affair between work colleagues, whilst the woman’s husband is becoming addicted to antidepressants. Just as it starts to become tedious the whole focus of the book turns around and becomes something quite different, much darker.
It was a very interesting psychological thriller and the characters in the main were people you would not want to live near or house swap with. That is only my opinion though., read this first book by the author to see what you think.
Recommended.

Atmospheric and creepy. Loved this book from the word go. How do you do it? Excellent and fast paced story and gripping until the very end

Caroline and Francis decide to go for the cut price option of a holiday & do a house swap for a week. They swap their inner city flat for a suburban house in easy reach of London. The house is minimalist and lacking in character although there are several things about the swap which make Caroline uneasy. In a parallel thread we also learn about Caroline's relationship with Carl. It happened a few years previously when their marriage was struggling and Francis had become addicted to presciption drugs. Is the past affair linked with Caroline's uneasiness in the house?

I really struggled with this book as I found it quite slow & turgid. Somewhere along the line the suspense hadn't built up and I was keen for some serious editing so we could get to the end. There isn't anything wrong with the concept of the book as it was an interesting twist on the ex-lover/stalker sort of story. It was just the telling of it dragged on a bit.

I couldn't find it in my heart to like the characters overly much. I felt sympathy for Francis but couldn't say I liked him particularly. I got cross with Caroline for having an affair when her husband needed her & she had a young child - yes I know it was a tough time but did she really think this would help?I didn't much like Caroline later either. Unfortunately, the author hadn't presented me with people that I could care about particularly.

This is one of those books where the concept is good but the execution mediocre.

I love this cover. The story is about a couple who house swap, but lots of devious clues abound. The woman had an affair with a work colleague. I found the story slow at the start but it was worth persevering with. A very satisfying way it was tied together. The characters were not likeable but the story still worked. A very satisfying read for a debut author. Congratulations.

A realistic, creepy thriller which starts slowly and builds up to an explosive conclusion. Riveting.

'The House Swap'.is a story about Caroline and Francis ,who decide that a make or break holiday that they can afford, via an an online swap site ,sounds like a brilliant idea.
It's.foolproof ,swap the Leeds flat for a London one, what's the worst that can happen?
Well quite a lot...things disappear and reappear at random, including items that have specific significance to Caroline...added to this is the girl two doors down who takes a little too much interest in the holidaying couple.
And who, exactly,is sleeping in their bed?
This will almost certainly have you thinking twice about swapping houses if there are any skeletons in the closet!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this proof in return for an honest review.

This book was incredibly long winded and boring. It should have been a short story. The only positive I had was that it was well-written. I would also recommend getting rid of the dates. As it dates the book. Rather say before or two years ago

I found this book good but unfortunately felt it was a bit flat and dull. It didn’t grab my attention and I struggled to read it a bit. But it was overall a good read.

I wasn’t keen on this. It was flat and the story just fizzled out. For that reason I’m not putting a review on any site as I don’t want to put others off.

Caroline and Francic’s marriage is on the rocks. She has had an affair with Carl and Francis has a drug addiction. They decide to house swap for a week to try to rekindle their marriage and swap their flat in the city for a house close to London. They leave their son with his Gran but Caroline is very uneasy from the moment they arrive at the house. They don’t know who the house belongs to and don’t know who is staying in their flat. Caroline notices things in the house swap house that bring back memories of Carl and she begins to wonder if it was planned by him. The story is told in two time frames, 2013 and the present day. We find out that there was an incident which caused Caroline and Carl to end their relationship and we learn what led up to this affair and Francis’s drug addiction.
This book has an intriguing plot but is quite slow moving but I certainly didn’t see the twist coming at the end, A very good debut novel and I will certainly look out for Rebecca’s next book.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
